@HKG Yeah I think you're right. 12 and 9 here.
@Apprenante I had forgotten about dehumidifiers! What a good idea.

New sofa and dehumidifier!

Oh YAY!!! Now share the shortlist of sofas! 🤣🤣🤣

https://www.next.co.uk/style/st468692/k95623 in a rust brown

https://www.dfs.co.uk/sam/asm13altv?langId=-1&skuId=3785170 in peacock teal

I'm leaning towards the DFS one because we have another Sam sofa in the house and it is the bees knees.

Apprenante · 06/09/2025 19:44

I love the Sam sofa. The other is ok but a bit too curvy for me. My sofas are all straight lines.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 06/09/2025 19:45

I hadn't noticed the curve til you mentioned it, now I can see it. Not a fan!

I wish the Sam one came in rust though. The peacock colour is gorgeous but the other couch is grey and it just doesn't feel like a good fit.

m00rfarm · 06/09/2025 20:10

SW 89 kilos
CW 74.9 kilos
TW 65 kilos (or less if possible)

I am struggling - where weight was dropping off so fast at the beginning, it is now really slowing down. I weigh morning and evening - 4 weeks ago it was taking around 10 days to lose 1 kilo. The last kilo is around 14 days. I am about to move up to 10mg tomorrow, but at the moment I am feeling hungry all the time again.

On the positive side, I had blood tests done last week, and my cholesterol which was extremely high is now only just in the high range, my fatty liver which was so far off the scale as to be a joke, is now sitting on the highest part of normal, and my blood pressure for which I have taken medication for many years, is now normal and no medication is required.

People are noticing that I have dropped a lot of weight (I am lucky to live somewhere where people come to visit every 3-6 months, so they notice the difference as they don't see me all the time).

But I really want to get down to my target weight NOW!

Sorry about that!
But I think peacock and grey would be excellent together. Think about grey trousers with a peacock silky blouse ....

FlorenceNightshade · 06/09/2025 20:33

@DidILeaveTheGasOn heated airers for the win! No noise and I find mine heats up the room it’s in very nicely saving having the radiator on! Wouldn’t be without mine, only use the drier if I’ve loads of bedding to do!

Oh I quite liked the curve (perhaps because I’m still quite so ‘curvy’ 🤣). And the rust is GORGEOUS!

We have one of those dryer racks that are on a pulley in the utility room where the boiler is. It’s fabulous. Dries things really quickly and doesn’t cost a penny. So good I didn’t even bother buying a dryer. We need to get one for the new house.

Gingercar · 06/09/2025 22:25

Oh and my new swanky scales came today. I’m scared to get on them!

planesick · 06/09/2025 23:02

Hi, I have been reading all the posts, but don't feel like I have anything particularly interesting to say... But
55yrs old
16½ stone to begin back in May
14½ stone now. Slow and steady should win the race, but I would have liked a bit more off. I am jealous of some of the big losses described on here .. but that isn't a nice quality to have, so I am giving my head a wobble.
Persuaded my pharmacy to let me buy two 5mg pens on 30/8 at the old price! Phew!
I am going to have to give up the pen when my second one runs out. I can't justify the price rise.
I am averaging 1200 calories a day, have given up full fat coke, which has the added benefit that I don't crave chocolate.
Keep the faith everyone. You are all doing great!

@bookedanappointment sorry to hear that. 💐
That must be so tough. Hope you're doing ok.

notgonnafail · 07/09/2025 07:13

@bookedanappointment Sending lots of hugs.I am sure that you will have made the right decision. I used to work in the pre-natal ultrasound department, and saw just how much soul searching people put themselves through before taking them, and the guilt they all feel - though there is nothing to be guilty about. These decisions are never taken lightly by prospective parents or medics, so please be kind to yourself. Let yourself grieve if you need to, in whatever way that you need to.

SignedUpAgain · 07/09/2025 07:39

Jeez I wondered where everyone was!

I am staying on 7.5 for now I think. Usually pretty drained for couple of days after, but scared to drop down to 5.

17kg loss so far. Still slow and steady.

HereIGoOnceMore · 07/09/2025 08:15

Hugs @bookedanappointmentFlowersFlowersnot an easy time for you. Also - I hate to be that health professional, but there have been reports of MJ affecting the contraceptive pill, so this might be something to think about when you are ready so that you can put things in place.

name change fail guys sorry. I can’t post under my usual prawn one!
@HereIGoOnceMorethats why I’m in this situation, I had actually stopped taking my pill as it was made ineffective by the MJ.

Gingercar · 07/09/2025 12:40

Hope you’re ok my lovely prawn. Thinking of you.

I haven’t set my new scales up properly yet - no links to my phone or blubber analysis (not sure if I want all that really) but they weigh nearly 5lbs higher than my others!! I’ve managed to find a corner of the bedroom where they weigh similar (on carpet!). So that’s where they’ll live.

Apprenante · 07/09/2025 14:38

@bookedanappointment sending 💐 and unmumsnetty hugs.

bookedanappointment · 07/09/2025 17:49

Thanks ladies. I am 1lb away from my target now and am on my last pen - 2.5mg.

SutekhsEars · 07/09/2025 18:31

Amazing @bookedanappointment ! That must feel good.

SutekhsEars · 07/09/2025 18:35

Met up with some acquaintances today who have never struggled with their weight but felt I would benefit from their dieting advice. 😠
'Its's just mind over matter,' was a particular gem. I usually can't think of what to say in the moment, but this time I managed to shut it down quite effectively.
Gobshites!

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 07/09/2025 19:29

Ooh what did you say @SutekhsEars ? I never think of what to say in the moment!
