Loving all the veggie protein ideas!!!

relieved to say whatever horrid virus has wiped me out for the last 12 days finally seems to have looesened its grip & I managed a LWR work out this morning!!

by some miracle I’ve still lost this week which shocked me as I’ve struggled eating the right stuff while I’ve been ill! I’m now 2lb off 4 stone and hit my first target which was getting to 14st. Seemed unreachable back in May!!!

half way there now!!!!

hope everyone’s weeks get off to a manageable start!!

@MissFizzyPop sorry to hear your news! Sending hugs! I’ve supported my mom through it twice - feel free to ignore as everyone’s experience is different but worth reading around detox eating pre chemo (if you need it )

Not sure it helped mom as can’t compare with anything but she ate really cleanly for 48hours prior to each chemo and sailed through with very few side effects. Mainly smoothie for breakfast and fish & veg later in day . There is a good amount of evidence out there feel free to pm me if you want links . All the best for your treatment

<goes off to Google abstemious>
Ooh, I like that.

SutekhsEars · 29/09/2025 08:15

I'm now struggling with a virus too. Feel completely rotten. Gaahhhh!

notgonnafail · 29/09/2025 11:27

Hope those with viruses get better soon, and welcome back to those who've finally kicked them.

I decided it was time to swap my summer wardrobe for my winter/autumn one (while still renovating the house I have limited wardrobe space). Took the opportunity to try on some stuff and had some pleasant surprises!

Have a lovely big pile of size 22 and 24 trousers, tops and pajamas that will go off to the charity shop as are now way too big.

I seem to be kind of in between a 20 and 18 at the moment, so while my 20's are a bit loose now, my 18's are a bit too tight. But I can now do them up, including my 2 pairs of beloved Joe Browns jeans that I haven't been able to wear in far too long. I've very much been living and dying in elasticated waists, or at least part elasticated ones for years now (leggings, walking trousers and palazzo type pants). They need another few weeks to be comfy, but I am hoping I'll be able to wear then when I go and pick hubby up from airport when he comes for a visit soon! (He's still working and living in the UK at the moment.)

Also found a long, tunicy blouse I bought, which claimed to be a size 22 but never fit over my bum, but I loved it. It now hangs beautifully, and is nice and light so perfect for hormonal flush layering!

And last but not least a really cute Joe Browns khaki jacket in a size 18 that never did up, but wasn't available in a bigger size and I kidded myself I would one day lose enough weight to wear finally does do up! Like my jeans, I'm probably another month off it being truly comfy but I'm so excited that I will be able to wear it this autumn!

tostaky · 29/09/2025 11:43

Very happy for you @notgonnafail such a good feeling to be able to enjoy clothes again!

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 29/09/2025 11:59

Ah @notgonnafail I loved reading that, that's fantastic.

notgonnafail · 29/09/2025 12:39

@tostaky I've never much cared about fashion. Have always been more about comfort than looking good due to health issues and an aversion to tight or rough things (AuDHD), but it is definitely nice to be able to fit into the kinds of clothes I was always most comfy in again. I genuinely never thought I'd ever wear jeans again, but it feels doable now!

SussexLass87 · 29/09/2025 12:39

Buy it....buy it....buy it.... @DidILeaveTheGasOn

Random question...is anyone finding hot drinks a struggle? I get awful heartburn just from sipping at the moment!

SussexLass87 · 29/09/2025 12:40

Saw a reel suggesting Love Hearts are good for heartburn...can report that they're brilliant!

notgonnafail · 29/09/2025 12:41

@DidILeaveTheGasOn Thanks lovely!

And if you love the coat, get it! perhaps see if you can find it on Vinted now or in a few months time when those who can afford it are buying something else!!

TreesOfGreen99 · 29/09/2025 19:04

I want to cry.
I stood on the scales and for the first time in 20 years, the number started with 12 rather than 13, 14 or more
I would never have managed this without MJ
Just wanted to share as IRL not even DH knows my weight 😊

tostaky · 29/09/2025 19:52

Well done @TreesOfGreen99 what an achievement ! 🤩 im not far from the 70kg bracket! I cant wait!

Seahorsesplendour · 29/09/2025 20:09

@SutekhsEars you have my sympathy!!!! Really struggled through virus land felt worse than I have for years & very glad to out the other side!! Have enjoyed food again today and not craved chocolate so very relieved normal MJ service has resumed!!!

I’m currently obsessed with roast chicken with rocket & spinach & watercress with pomegranate seeds & avocado just can’t get enough of it 🙈😂

SaintAgatha · 29/09/2025 20:43

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 29/09/2025 12:06

I spotted this coat this morning and I'm in love but no way can I justify the price. It's so beautiful though. I'm a sucker for gold buttons too.

https://mintvelvet.com/products/leopard-velvet-long-jacket

I think you can justify it! You’ve moved house, been unwell, and in spite of all of that you’ve lost a fuckton of weight. Buy it as a Christmas gift to yourself.

PandaIsMySpiritAnimal · 30/09/2025 06:17

I have reached 2 mini milestones today.🎉

As of this morning I weigh 199.5 lbs down from 243 when I started. To see the number starting with 1 is an amazing feeling.

I now also have less than 50 lbs to target down from 93.5 when I started. I remember looking at the number 93 in the beginning and thinking how will I ever lose all this weight, and today I have 49.5 left and it feels so achievable. Just have to keep being patient and keep making smart choices and I know I'll get there 😊

Onwards & downwards ⬇️

dc82 · 30/09/2025 06:23

That’s amazing @PandaIsMySpiritAnimal! That’s an inspiring achievement.

Great work on all the NSVs too everyone. 🥳 This thread is always so motivational.

Side question has anyone on here tried the Ladder app for exercise? I spotted it recommended by a poster on another thread and I’d not heard of it before.

tostaky · 30/09/2025 07:05

Well done @PandaIsMySpiritAnimal! So many victories at the moment in this group. It is nice to think that deapite the feeling of not losing fast enough, the disappointment of staying the same some weeks, the trend is still downwards (in a good way!). It feels me with hope that i can and will lose the weight, be a healthy bmi and have a healthier and more functional body! Those things are hard to keep in mind when weight loss is a massive struggle (ie: without MJ)

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 30/09/2025 07:25

My lovely husband acquired me a walking pad. He knew I wanted one and one of his colleagues was getting rid of hers so he snaffled it for me. I’ve been using it to top up my daily steps and got to 14,000 yesterday. I did use it for 1hr while I was making supper for the family when my husband took our girl swimming.

I had been going for lots of walks in the park but now it’s getting colder and darker I feel less motivated so it’s great to have an alternative at home. Not quite coordinated enough yet to use it while working with my standing desk - but I’m working on it.

MyScaredCat · 30/09/2025 09:27

Quick update: I have gallstones. No doubt caused by rapid weight loss. I lost an average of 2lb per week while on MJ for 4 months. I’m waiting on an operation now to remove it

SutekhsEars · 30/09/2025 10:01

Sorry to hear that @MyScaredCat that's rubbish. At least you have a diagnosis though. I'm trying to remember the restricted diet - is it absolutely no fat? Do you know how long it's likely to be before the op?

SutekhsEars · 30/09/2025 10:04

NSV for me this morning - I've run out of holes in my belt! My weight is STS but my clothes feel a bit looser again.

notgonnafail · 30/09/2025 10:09

That sucks, @MyScaredCat But the good news is that once you've had the op life is so much easier again. I hope they get you in quickly so you can be out of pain soon.

FlorenceNightshade · 30/09/2025 11:10

Lots been going on here since I last checked in but been reading and cheering you all on!

@MissFizzyPop so sorry to hear about your diagnosis and sending you lots of love and strength!

@MyScaredCat glad you have a plan to rid you of your gallbladder wouldn’t wish that particular pain on anyone!

Im usually a daily weigher but every damn day I’ve checked since 17th September it’s been 69. something and it’s driving me mad!!! Sometimes up a bit sometimes down a bit but I’m so sick of seeing that bloody number!!!

Ive tried increasing exercise and water I’ve tried rest days, more food, less food nothing has worked! I’ve even stopped checking every day! If it’s not a new number tomorrow I’m probably going to chuck my scale out the window!!!

I don’t have too much left until goal and maybe this is a “set point” thing but gaaahh!!! Any ideas that I haven’t tried are most welcome 🙏

Gingercar · 30/09/2025 11:11

Oh heck @MyScaredCat, that’s a shame. I hope you get the op sooner rather than later. Will you carry on with MJ?
