@PissedOffNeighbour22 I have been up and down a little bit and I really want to try and reduce my dose down. There's been a lot going on recently and with so much nice Christmas food around it's been easy for me to slip into bad habits. I got myself together enough to maintain the last few weeks but I know my diet is a bit shit, even if I'm not gaining. I'm going for a big focus while I'm off after Christmas and into the New Year when everyone is keen to be healthy. We can do this!

Georock · 19/12/2025 22:29

Sorry to jump on this thread but I really want to start it but worried about dude effects such as hair loss. Is it as serious as they make out?

Honestly this is probably the wrong place to ask about side effects. We all stayed on it and got to maintenance so we're the ones who did fine. There's a lot of threads on the board discussing side effects if you do a search or just have a browse where you'll get more diverse opinions.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 20/12/2025 08:36

@KeepUndercoverits so easy to slip back into old habits isn’t it. I’m back to eating chocolate all the time which I just wasn’t bothered about until a few months ago. Then I ordered a massive Hotel Chocolat sharing advent calendar that I’m pretty much keeping for myself 🫢.

good luck for the new year - you’re right, we can do it. Just need to focus!! I think I got complacent as I was maintaining even with a bad diet, then suddenly there was a permanent increase that I can’t shift.

ThirdStorm · 20/12/2025 11:10

It shows that there is still much work to do! I’m maintaining my weight on 3mg, sometimes 3.5mg. I go up and down 3lb regularly but I think I jump on it quicker than I used to.

KeepUndercover · 20/12/2025 13:07

I think jumping on it quickly is the important thing. I know in the past I've just ignored gains until they are big. And then they feel too big and overwhelming. Now if the scales are a little bit heavier it's easier to think "oh I can pull that back again if I get on it now".

ObsidianTree · 21/12/2025 07:22

I'm also in the camp of weight gain!

I was maintaining around 10st 7lbs and was able to go down to 10mg. Lowest I made it to was about 10st 4lbs. I am now about 11st 3lbs. So a st higher than my lowest. I am able to eat more and have basically gone back to old habits. Enjoying sweet things, eating full portions, mindless snacking, more alcohol. So I guess without mj I'd probably be up a few st by now.

Ironically it was when I started the gym that I started gaining more. I didn't go too much, but maybe there is a bit of muscle weight in there. But mostly fat as I'm looking a bit plumper for sure.

I did try and up my dose back to 15mg for a few weeks but it's not really helped. Unfortunately Mj at a higher dose doesn't have a big effect on my anymore. I went back down to 10mg as I am seriously worried about what I am going to do when I run out. I recently paid £275 for a pen of 15mg, mainly to stay on Zava's books as I still had 3 pens left, but I don't want to pay that and need to buy bloody 15mg each month once I run out! 10mg is like injecting water. I envy those of you that find the higher doses too much and have managed to drop down to low doses.

Have decided that in Jan I will tackle this and start putting in more effect. I need to actually start dieting and calorie counting and hitting the gym more regularly. So I would say it will be 50% mj and 50% me. I think I'll do low carb for a kick start. I might given myself a few weeks of 12.5mg to see if that helps.

But yeah with maintenance a new set of challenges have begun!

Long term I might have to give wegovy a go. I see that a lot say don't bother as it doesn't work as well, but I'm wondering if I should try anyway as I don't want to pay for mj at higher doses. Maybe if the tablet option comes out soon I can give that a go.

Nice to see how everyone is doing. Hope everyone has a good Xmas and New year

KrankyKumquat · 21/12/2025 08:54

Its strangely comforting to know I'm not the only one struggling with maintenance. This time last year, I didn't want to eat any of the Christmas stuff which resulted in a dull but safe week or so. This year, once again, the kitchen is full of high calorie food but I'm having to constantly fight the urge to get cracking on it. I spent most of yesterday desperate for cheese - i didn't have any but I don't think I can hold out much longer.

I know boredom is a big trigger for me and I find this time of year (crap weather, no work, too much telly, friends and family doing their own thing, the loss of routine) really testing. I'm keeping up with my fitness stuff but that can't fill a day. I've increased my dose but put on 4lb already (despite feeling like I've barely had anything extra) and realistically, there's ages to go till normality returns.

I keep telling myself even thin people gain at Christmas but it's hard to accept it's ok for me to do the same as, I've realised, I still see myself as an obese person, temporarily inhabiting a thin body.

Smallsalt · 21/12/2025 18:06

I am clicking to 12.5mg. Havent dared go lower as I am defo eating more bad stuff.
I havent actually weighed since June...... A very bad avoidance habit I have always had when I am "bad". Defo looking heavier in the mirror. Things like my wrinkly thighs from the weight loss not being so wrinkly. Whoever imagined feeling nostalgic about saggy thighs!?

Anyway, bit the bullet this morning and hit the scales, braced for a couple of stone
ITS JUST 3LBS!
So pleased!

I guess my legs just must be dewrinkling!

NextPrimeMinister · 21/12/2025 19:17

I am slowly de wrinkling. I'm hoping by summer I can actually show my top arms!

I am maintaining on 2.5 to 3.75 but am seeing increased interest in food.

I am weighing in each week to try to stop any gain. I refuse to go over 8.13.

I can't see how I will ever come off fully though.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 22/12/2025 14:37

@KrankyKumquathopefully any gains will drop off in January. I’ve bought quite a lot of bad stuff for over the break and as my DH is only off work on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day I will probably be filling my time with eating as I’ll be stressed with the kids.

@ObsidianTree sorry to hear you’re gaining too. I found the same as you with the change in dose. 10mg did no more for me than 7.5mg so might as well reduced down and save money. I still haven’t decided what I’m doing with orders as I got a cheap 2.5mg last month but it’s not looking like I’m going to be on that dose any time soon 🫣

has anyone seen the new meals from Morrisons on the news, for those of us on WLI. They look TINY!!

KrankyKumquat · 23/12/2025 12:13

@ThirdStorm
Not sure how true this is but seen elsewhere that price for tablet is only around 150dollars (can't find dollar symbol on phone!) compared to over a grand for injection per month. A 10th of the price would be amazing, wouldn't it? God, i hope so.

ThirdStorm · 23/12/2025 12:45

Yes agree @KrankyKumquat I'd quite like a tablet to "maintain me".

ObsidianTree · 23/12/2025 17:26

I was reading about the pill on reddit. People were saying that you have to take the tablet on its own I think, 30 mins before eating /drinking. So might be a bit of a fraff. Also heard it might not be that effective. But will do research if it comes here and then decide. If it's cheap I might give it a go.

@PissedOffNeighbour22 I'm thinking I might as well go down to 7.5 for the rest of the Xmas period. Might as well save myself some MJ!

That’s the cost of the lowest dose tablet. There hasn’t been any info on the price of higher doses. Also remember when Trump told Eli Lilly to charge other countries the same price as US citizens were paying. So higher dose Wegovy pills might not be that cheaper than injections. But I can feel MJ wear off at the end of the week so I would like to take a daily pill and have a constant level of suppression.

QueenOfHiraeth · 23/12/2025 22:40

@Choux I read an interesting article recently that was suggesting that fluctuating blood levels are actually more effective than steadier ones as the body finds it easier to adapt to the constant. It was advising against split doses on the premise that 5mg every 3-4 days was, apparently, less likely to remain effective than 10mg weekly in the long term. Damned if I can remember where I read it to link though, sorry.
I took Rybelsus for 2 months before switching to Mounjaro due to shortages and think I prefer weekly injection to daily tablet. Wasn't on it long enough to compare efficacy though

How has everyone's Christmas been?

imnottoofussed · 28/12/2025 19:33

So far I’ve gained a few lbs so I guess that means it’s been a good Christmas 🤷‍♀️

I’m gonna have to knuckle down at some point as I’ve just taken my last jab (although that was pointless as was only 5mg so wasn’t doing anything anyway)

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 28/12/2025 19:41

I’ve been pretty bad, especially with chocolate. Bought a huge amount of chocolate today from the outlet. I took my jab a day late last week so might take it tonight which would get it back on track. I’m not convinced it’s doing much though 😄

I had lost a few pounds on Christmas Day apparently. But all back on now so probably a duff reading.

ThirdStorm · 28/12/2025 21:19

Pretty good. Ate what I wanted, just not too much, far less than pre jab. I felt a bit “bottomless pit” today and currently munching on cheese and crackers. Jab due Tuesday so not unusual.

NextPrimeMinister · 28/12/2025 23:12

I've put on 2lb.

Still have puddings and chocs in the house, which I can eat but interestingly, not gorge on.

Will get back in the groove after the NY.

KeepUndercover · 28/12/2025 23:18

I had massive suppression last year and really didn't indulge at all. Now I'm a bit more normal it was nice to be able to let go a bit. I'm getting back into it now though, there's a lot of chocolate and stuff in the house but I'm not massively in the mood for it.

Moanranger · 29/12/2025 21:29

Nice to hear from so many of the old crew. Christmas not too bad, my weight 23rd was just under goal, I will weigh again later in the week, hopefully not up by much. I am on 5mg which provides good suppression. Some holiday feasting but I have been pretty restrained. Eat a bit of everything, but no snacking & small amounts. I have some chocolate around, but the most I’ve eaten a day is 3 pieces. Try to stick to one. @ObsidianTree maybe try food diary as your next step? I have been maintaining plus or minus 2 lbs, but if I went up much & couldn’t shift it, a food diary would be my next step.
I am mentally budgeting £1000 for MJ in 2026, first expenditure is £140 which will get me through mid-February or so. Hoping for a cheaper pill soonish. I won’t do Wegovy as it doesn’t agree with me. Let’s keep posting from time to time, the support is good.

KrankyKumquat · 30/12/2025 09:27

I put on 2lb from Christmas Eve to 27th but it's largely gone since then so I'm pretty chuffed. I'd doubled my dose from 1.25 to 2.5 a couple of weeks beforehand and think this definitely helped me moderate things. I'll be reducing back down again sometime in the NY, I'm not rushing as house is groaning with cheese and chocolate still.

I've got a couple of heavily discounted pens on order, due to be delivered later in Jan and I'm a bit nervous my gaps in ordering, due to microdosing, will be questioned this time (Oushk have an annoying policy of not doing the final approval till a couple of days before delivery so you're left wondering for a long time). If all goes through ok though, it'll be a good indication that I've found a reliable way to do this long term. Fingers crossed.

Happy New Year to all the old timers on here xx
