Who is going to switch to Wegovy from Mounjaro?

A thread for those of us who are considering or already actioning this change due to pricing or other reasons…..

I’m with Oushk - been on 15mg for 4 months and MJ for 13 months in total. Some (manageable) side effects at 7.5mg. I’ve lost 35lb in 13 months and nothing for the last 2 months.

I have toyed with switching to W due to the slow loss on MJ, to see if it’s any different. I’m not ‘chasing suppression’ and I am putting in the work (cal counting, diet overhaul, exercise, etc) but now with the price hike I might make the change at my next order.

Is anyone else thinking similar? What’s your thought process?

Has anyone already switched to W after a year on MJ ? I’d love to hear your experiences

How was it during those few months off? Did you find you were able to keep up good habits? What happened to your weight during that time?

Did you notice any other effects from coming off MJ? Decrease in anxiety, increase in libido, increase in inflammatory pain, anything else?

Good luck with Wegovy. Do let us know here how it goes. I have one more 15mg pen to start tomorrow and after that I will move to Wegovy too

Edited

The weight didn’t pile back on but i have put a couple of lbs back on and I have felt my blood sugar/insulin control slip back. It has been a really crap few months in our house though (cancer in household member) so my diet hasn’t been a high priority and there’s been lots of grab and go carb heavy meals.

Jab arrives today. I’m excited, I think. Slightly nervous about side effects but i want to get back on it. I’d lost 2 of the 4 stones i needed to.

Acornsoup · 29/08/2025 08:25

My provide (Ashcroft Pharmacy) promised to keep prices stable until 1st September. However they are out of stock until 1st September :( time for new provider and new medication I think.

They are all out of stock as Eli lily have stopped delivering to UK pharmacies until after 1/9 🙄

I’m sorry to hear about the difficulties at home with loved ones health. I hope you are doing ok

Good luck with starting the Wegovy. If you can, come back and let us know how you get on

I’m also with SheMed; I completed my questionnaire yesterday, I’m going with Wegovy. I’m very close to goal, so if it doesn’t suit then I’ll rethink my options.
I’m really gutted as I have enjoyed my MJ journey, it’s been brilliant fir me, but hopefully I’ll have the same experience on Wegovy.

I;ve just ordered a wegovy pen from Superdrug as they had run out of mounjaro which I've been on since Jan/Feb. I was on 10mg of mounjaro and have to start again at the bottom with wegovy, which is a bit concerning, but as long as I don't start piling it back on I'm hoping for the best. It's a bit cheaper too. I think I've broken some of the bad habits I was in - fingers crossed.

I am going to switch, not because of the price increase but because boots has no stock left of monjaro (I'm guessing because people have been bulk buying 🙄) I've been on monjaro for 18 mths, hoping weygovy works as well 🥲
Has anyone switched already? How was it?

EDIT - Sorry didn't mean to reply to your post 😂

Joining you on switching. Just can't afford the new prices. I'm with Pharmacy2u and will hopefully order the 1mg pen as I'm on 7.5 of MJ.

Humblebumble123 · 29/08/2025 17:39

Hi, I have been on monj since 1st July. Have lost 2 stone so far and am on 5mg.

I decided to switch to Wegovy as a) cheaper, b) probably a slower loss - which is ok for me.

I changed to juniper and they have been helpful and interested and I am starting on 0.5mg and they support maintenance at my pace (as long as sensible) for when that comes.

I have 2 doses left of monj left before I start Wegovy. I have had no side effects and suppression and loss since a few hours after the first monj dose - I hope that continues with Wegovy.

CameraGown · 29/08/2025 18:47

I'm about 9lb off goal - and on 15mg MJ. Voy are offering me 2.4mg Wegovy - that seems mad, I think I'd be quite ill. Might wait and see how others get on before taking the plunge as I have 7 doses of MJ left.

I’m undecided. I’m 32 bmi now and worry that if I switch to wegovy and drop under 30 bmi, I wouldn’t ever be able to switch back to Mounjaro if I wanted to for whatever reason. I’d maybe give wegovy a try but I don’t want to be stuck with it if it’s no good for me.

Elle771 · 29/08/2025 19:17

Following with interest! Still have a full pen but don't want to/cant really keep paying the new MJ prices so hoping Wegovy would be viable longer term solution as I still have plenty to lose!

Juniper are open to my switching back if things don't work out. I think they just value clinical discussion.

Alondonmama · 29/08/2025 20:26

Following with interest as I am in the same boat! I am on 7.5mg MJ with SheMed (switched from juniper 6 mths ago). Lost 16kgs since last September but the majority was at the start and recent loss has been very slow. Still have 3 doses left but don't want to pay the new MJ prices so hoping Wegovy will be a better fit for me - still have a few stone to lose!

treesandsun · 29/08/2025 20:58

I think I will. I am currently taking a break There were a few reasons for that My weight had plateaued out for two nearly three months I was on the 12 milligramme and didn't want to go up another dose . send the news about the price changes was announced. My friend took a break for a specific reason Not a very long break and hard to start back on a lower dose which then kick started her weight loss again Having plateaued herself And I was hoping that I do similar. I then had a bout of illness and decided this was a good time to take a break. I am going to try and do it myself for a bit But if I start to regain weight I will try wegovy instead. I have lost 4 stone since January. And wegovy weight loss is apparently a bit slower which is fine by me. I'm currently with IQ Dr and I looked last night to see what the price was and it's gone up by about £80 but also says it's out of stock for the 12 milligramme pen.

Catmother18520 · 30/08/2025 08:53

Im at target now and getting to the lower end of healthy bmi but im really worried about putting the weight back on. Im now priced out of taking M so considering switching to W just to keep the food noise at bay. I've got another 5 weeks of doses left so will be following with interest on how everyone who switches is getting on.

Gingefringe · 30/08/2025 09:12

I've been on MJ since 1st May and lost 2st 3lb - initially via 3 pens of 2.5mg and now using 3.75mg from 5mg pen - so the loss has been slow but steady and I'm almost at goal of 9.5 stone. I'm 5'2" and 62.

I bought a 5mg pen from Chemist4U last week - when I put the pen in my basket it was originally £139, then when I went to finalise the payment the following day it had jumped to £189 - the bastards. The pen did arrive quickly though, so I have a few more weeks on this. I'll wait to see what the price is from tomorrow (1st Sept) before deciding what to do next.

So I'm thinking of switching to Wegovy for maintenance for a few month as I can manage on the low dosage of MJ - hopefully this would help me keep the weight off.

Lunarpsychobitch · 01/09/2025 19:30

I'm currently on 15mg MJ with Medicspot and they've capped the price increase at £50 for current members, so it's gone up to £279.

I've also just discovered this month that they do Blue Light discount so will get an extra £20 off that price (wish I'd known that sooner)
I feel it's still a big price increase and I'm going to try swapping to Wegovy when my current pen is finished.
My weight loss is averaging at 1-1.5lbs per week on MJ, so it would be good to hear from others if the speed of their weight loss is similar on Wegovy.
I'll attach the table showing what level of Wegovy you can start on if you've already been on MJ which also shows the cost.

Who is going to switch to Wegovy from Mounjaro?
JBJ · 01/09/2025 19:51

I think I’m going to swap, although the thought terrifies me as MJ has been so brilliant and I’ve had no side effects and really good weight loss.

PutThe · 01/09/2025 20:19

I had initially been considering it.

However, I'm currently on 5mg and expect to be at or close to 25 BMI when the one and a half pens I currently have run out. At that point I'd want to move to 2.5 for maintenance. The difference on the lowest doses is only about £30 per month, and I do the extra dose on MJ which apparently Wegovy doesn't have. So MJ would actually work out cheaper.

That said, I do feel more reassured by the idea of a non-US company, given the way things are at the moment. So if EL do end up changing the pens to prevent people doing a 5th dose, might reappraise then.

ItsFridayIminLoveJS · 01/09/2025 20:38

Im not changing over.. ive lost four stone.. my daughter has lost 7 stone.. her in a year me in 8 months.. slowly but surely.. but l tried to order my new pen last week.. out of stock.. but low and behold today ( 1st September) back in stock.
Last month was £161 10mg.. this month 12.5mg was £261... but I've been on forums and people are spreading it out to every 10 days .. some every 14 and it's still working effectively.. might give that a go.
I don't want to loose too quickly.. im happy with 2 pounds a week like you would on a diet.. less loose skin. ( im66) two more stone to go.. then ill go onto maintenance.

Ihavenoclu · 27/08/2025 21:05

I wont be able to as had awful side effects on wegovy last year and had to stop.

Same here. Wegovy did nothing for me, just awful side effects and lost no weight. Lost 20kg on MJ so far.

MissSuisse · 01/09/2025 21:09

Whilst I’ve never had MJ, I’m on week 10 of Wegovy (2 jabs into 1.0mg). Can confirm each pen lasts 4 weeks, weekly jabs.

Side effects have been manageable though have plateaued for about 3 weeks now.

Apparently anything under 2.4mg is not considered a therapeutic dose….

JaceLancs · 01/09/2025 22:47

I’ve been steadily losing an average 2lb a week on mounjaro 5mg was with she med on £159
They want to put price up to £279!
Med express are offering £179 intro offer then £199 after that - does anyone know of others offering cheaper for 5mg MJ?
