Who is going to switch to Wegovy from Mounjaro?

A thread for those of us who are considering or already actioning this change due to pricing or other reasons…..

I’m with Oushk - been on 15mg for 4 months and MJ for 13 months in total. Some (manageable) side effects at 7.5mg. I’ve lost 35lb in 13 months and nothing for the last 2 months.

I have toyed with switching to W due to the slow loss on MJ, to see if it’s any different. I’m not ‘chasing suppression’ and I am putting in the work (cal counting, diet overhaul, exercise, etc) but now with the price hike I might make the change at my next order.

Is anyone else thinking similar? What’s your thought process?

Has anyone already switched to W after a year on MJ ? I’d love to hear your experiences

Oh of course ! I wonder about dosing too then - presumably it’s also daily injections with Wegovy then too . Not great news at all but I can’t afford to go up to the prices they want for Mounjaro so will have to go with it and hope for the best

Wegovy is weekly, and is available in higher concentrations than Ozempic, so hopefully you will find a level which works for you Smile

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 28/08/2025 07:50

Actually @Mortigua - Ozempic is weekly too although it’s not prescribed for weight loss. Is it possible you were on Saxenda (Liraglutide?). That’s a daily jab.

dimples76 · 28/08/2025 07:54

Yes, I will be switching. I have been on mounjaro for 7 months and lost just over 4 stones but am only about 1/2 way to healthy weight. I have 2 mounjaro pens then I am going to make the switch. My weight loss has plateaued recently but I think that's because of the school hols as I have not been able to keep up.my gym regime and have not been as disciplined with food.

fourquenelles · 28/08/2025 08:01

Yes I am switching. Have been on MJ since October losing about a pound a week. Boots have upped the 10mg price to £330 a pen an increase of £124! I have been approved for max Wegovy dose so hoping I'll shift the last 3 stone by this time next year if not sooner.

MolluscMonday · 28/08/2025 08:05

I stopped MJ in June as the weight just wasn’t shifting since the 5mg days despite being up at 15mg with ok suppression. Have given my body a couple of months off to recalibrate and have just ordered my first Wegovy pen. Hoping the different combo might work better for me.

Mortigua · 27/08/2025 22:36

Thank you , good news hopefully . I am ok to switch but have only tried ozempic when it came out and didn’t get high enough dosing for it to do much and remember feeling quite down while on it . Hopefully wegivy is better

sorry to say it is the exact same drug, made by the exact same company, just different brand names they use. Ozempic is mainly in the USA, and wegovy in the uk, but ozempic was used for diabetes here. Are you sure it was ozempic you were on?

How was it during those few months off? Did you find you were able to keep up good habits? What happened to your weight during that time?

Did you notice any other effects from coming off MJ? Decrease in anxiety, increase in libido, increase in inflammatory pain, anything else?

Good luck with Wegovy. Do let us know here how it goes. I have one more 15mg pen to start tomorrow and after that I will move to Wegovy too

@Mortigua mentioned daily injections so I think she may have been on Saxenda (liraglutide).

I have been looking at switching from Mounjaro to Wegovy as Pharmacy2u are out of stock of 15mg, and I won’t be able to afford the price increase when they do get stock. But P2U will only allow me to order the lowest dose of Wegovy, and I am reluctant to do that as it has taken me to 15mg on MJ to start seeing losses. Does anyone know if you can switch to a higher dose? And would 15mg on MJ translate to the highest dose of Wegovy? I’m happy to switch suppliers if needed.

Medicine Marketplace are letting me switch from 5mg MJ to 1mg Wegovy, but this is the maximum switching dose even if I were on a higher MJ dose. It looks like Asda have a similar policy.

Looking at Oushk's guidance, they might allow you to go straight on to 1.7mg. I think you'll struggle to find a pharmacy who would be willing to put you straight onto 2.4mg but I'm happy to be corrected if someone has found one.

Hi I’m attaching the recommended dose switch given by my supplier Oushk. Photo may take a few minutes to upload

I'm really torn I'm on 15mg and coming up to a year on MJ. In that year I've lost 6.5st. MJ works really well for me with absolutely no side effects unless I eat the 'wrong' thing. I probably have another 2.5st to go
I have 2 pens of 15mg so don't need to make a decision until things settle a bit. I think at the moment the highest dose of MJ is could afford would be around 7.5mg. I feel like I should just drop down and stick with MJ when I know I have no side effects and its working but I am considering moving to wegovy

80smercedes · 28/08/2025 09:17

Thanks so much @VelociraptorsVelociRappingand @BrunchBarBanditthats really helpful! I’ll investigate Oushk!!

I'm considering it but only if my provider offers a higher starting dose. I'm with IQ doctor and they've been silent so far. I'm on 15mg and didn't really see any benefits until I got to a 7.5 mg dose, so starting from the bottom doses again seems really pointless to me as I expect they'd be ineffective and just a waste of money and time building up to the higher doses. As it stands I plan to stick to Monj but the cheapest companies won't prescribe to me because I'm on levothyroxine and I've heard a few of them refuse higher BMIs which unfortunately despite losing at a steady pace I still have!

Edited

Interestingly, I had emails from my provider e-Surgery. They specify only a 7-day washout when switching and offer this option:
"Option 2:
If you have tolerated your Mounjaro dose well and have used it for some time, you can request to start Wegovy at a dose that is more closely aligned with your previous Mounjaro dose. This may maintain effectiveness from the outset but may come with a higher risk of side effects.
"

millenialmolly · 28/08/2025 14:15

I’m hoping to switch over now but I’ve been completely screwed over by MedExpress, been with them since January. Looking to switch suppliers, any recommendations for Wegovy suppliers? 🤗

Ihavesomeballs · 28/08/2025 14:22

I only have 3kg to lose until I'm in maintenance. Medicine market place have no 5mg but have 2.5mg. will I still lose on a lower dose?

It's impossible to say. You can still lose but you're likely to need more willpower as you will be halving the level of medication in your system.

Ihavesomeballs · 28/08/2025 14:26

I'm a super responder, I had complete appetite suppression on 2.5 but went up due to stall.

If your body’s now used to tolerating 5mg then you may not respond as you previously did to 2.5mg. This is pure supposition however - no-one, not even a doctor, can guarantee how you will respond.

BrunchBarBandit · 28/08/2025 15:46

Well, as it’s payday, I’ve just put in an order for Wegovy 1.7mg to arrive a couple of weeks. I wonder if Oushk will contact me about the switch although I have ordered the strength recommended by them. With the £15 discount code it was £170, so cheaper than my current spend on MJ.

I’ll get my 5 doses out of my new MJ pen so that should be starting W around 9th October. I hope anyone switching sooner will use this thread to update us on their experience

Simple Online have said that they will match mounjaro/Wegovy dosage, so no need to start back at the beginning, there is also only a week wash out period between one injection and the next.

omega4ever · 28/08/2025 17:46

Hi quick question to anyone that knows about administering wygovy ... its weekly i think.... like Mj .... but is it single use pens or from a multi use pen.... trying to work out if bonus dose or counting clicks possible with wygovy in same way as MJ.

Thanks. Im also on Mj 15mgs ... have been on this dose 4 months and wt static but not actively loosing ... Ive lost 25kgs but slowly over 16 months.. still 10-15 kgs to go.

Considering a switch to Wygovy too in near future due to price rises.

NewLifter · 28/08/2025 17:59

It's still a 4 dose pen spanieleyes, I did some googling previously and it seems there isn't really enough extra for a full dose.

I'm maintaining on 5mg, have been very stable on maintenance for 9 months and on 5mg for a year altogether.

I plan to switch to 1mg Wegovy and will start low by counting clicks and build up over a few weeks I think as I had trouble getting to 5mg and needed to build up really slowly, but have been absolutely fine with that (had previously jumped from 2.5 to 5 and had terrible diarrhoea).

If it turns out 0.5 is enough then I will switch to that next pen, I just have a fear of 0.5 doing nothing and being stuck with it for 4 weeks!

I absolutely love MJ and planned to stay on it forever, but I refuse to pay the extortionate fees and support ELs crappy business model!

Plan to stay with Oushk for now but I can't help worrying about their longevity and whether it would be wise to switch - I guess I will see how they go. They've clearly made pretty bad decisions so far and I definitely wonder if they will be sustainable!

Oh I was on Saxenda thank you for spotting that! My mistake I just got confused over them . That’s a relief then .

BabyfoxesMama · 29/08/2025 06:46

I have toyed with the idea of the swap from mj due to the price increase also. I have done well on mj 29lbs in 9 weeks- the side effects haven’t been too bad either, just nightmares and fatigue some sickness… but now that my 7.5ml does is around £300 a month it’s just a sustainable cost for me at the moment.
