Welcome to thread 12 fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we list old clothes on vinted, give thanks for MJ as we enjoy a far more comfortable Summer significantly lighter. We now wear ALL the damn shorts 💪🏻

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and our lowest stone brackets!

I’m on W35 D2 and on my fourth 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 10.6lbs
GW 9st 7lb
Total loss so far 56.4 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

@Dreamqueen I've had some days where I've eaten more and while I've never pigged out in the same way as before mj, it's given me a 'slippery slope' feeling. Usually though I'm back to normal (mj normal) within a day or two, for me I just write it off as my body needing more calories for some reason. So I wouldn't panic, just up your water and eat some foods that are high in protein and good fats and see how it goes.

typo. Should have said 10.

Phew 😅

What sort of foods have you reintroduced?

For me for example, I’ve learned that I can’t eat UPFs anymore, even a little bit. It’s like giving someone who’s quit smoking a cigarette. The cravings come back.

I reintroduced my old vice Lindt and quickly ended up wanting it daily so I’ve cut it back out.

Maybe it’s something like that?

That makes sense. chocolate and sweet treats with my grandaughter have crept back in. going to cut all the snacks back out. On my secold litre of water for the morning.

@Dreamqueenmight be worth changing injection site too. I’ve been getting more suppression injecting in my thigh rather than stomach.

Yesterday the fatigue hit at about 4pm, not good as I was in the office. Left a little early went straight to bed when I got home. Scales are down again today but as I only had a sandwich yesterday and no dinner I’m not really counting it.

I find that thigh injections seem to work better than stomach ones.
hope you're feeling better and more energetic today.

Try using ChatGPT (or any other AI) to create a menu plan for the next week that is protein rich, balanced and uses your BMR plus exercise rate. You can tell it to exclude what you don’t like/dietary requirements and where you prefer to shop/budget etc. it’s more tailored than using Google. You can tell it what dose MJ you are on. Start with a prompt such as ‘create a meal plan for someone on a 10.0mg dose of Mounjaro which promotes satiety, maximise protein macros and excludes dairy’ then tell it you only shop at Tesco, need a lunch at work from Pret or Itsu and you have a budget of £65/whatever. You can tell it what you already have in the freezer /fridge or that you dislike Indian/mexican food etc. it’s free and saves you a lot of research/faffing!

That sounds amazing. How do I get chat GBT please? I'm a bit of a technology dinosaur. I'll ask my DIL to do it for me.

I’ve reduced down to 5mg with the idea of coming off, but in 2 weeks I’ve put on 9lbs and now am classed as overweight again. I can’t afford to be on it forever so need to find a way to get control. Back to calorie counting in an app.

I thought I was making good choices. I think Saturday’s cocktails and tapas may be behind the jump. Line drawn and onwards we go.

That's very frustrating, do you think you ate much differently on the 5mg to when you were on a higher dose?

The day of cocktails yes but food wise we had tapas and it was all I ate so I thought it would be okay. My sweet tooth is back but even then, I turned down cakes in the office yesterday. I’m not massively binge eating. I thought I was at a maintenance level rather than weightloss but clearly not.

Cantbesure · 10/07/2025 13:40

Hi all. I’m sorry to be a bit of a Debbie downer but I’m feeling low today. My boobs and stomach look awful. And my face is sagging. I’m mid 50s, very short and have stretched my stomach and boobs for two pregnancies as well as yo-yo dieting for years. Losing weight and then putting it back. But I’m shocked at how bad it looks. I don’t have a DH/DP who loves my body for the journey it’s been on. And was hoping to meet someone now I look great clothed. But the naked picture is not good.

I feel sad I’ve put my body through so much. And I do love how resilient and strong it is becoming. But aesthetically it’s depressing.

as a veggie my collagen options are limited. Is there anything (other than surgery) people have found has made a difference? I run, swim and do basic gym workouts. Is there anything I should be doing to improve my boobs and stomach or is it all a lost cause without a trip to Lithuania?!

Oh no. Are you still tracking your food? I’ve had to come off cold turkey due to stomach issues which was not my plan. And I’m definitely getting the food noises and hunger back. Im at my goal weight but struggling to stay within my maintenance calories and have put a pound on. It all feels so much harder. Are you able to pinpoint why you have gained?

lailaaa · 10/07/2025 14:02

Yesss! This is the moment we’ve been waiting for
Pulling out clothes we haven’t worn in years (or ever!), zipping up that one pair of jeans without a struggle, and finally feeling excited—not stressed—about vacation pics.
Mounjaro’s working, we’re working, and now it’s time to show it off
Let’s go, smaller sizes and sunshine!

I have crept up with sweeter foods (not massively but clearly enough) but I’ve also realised I’m not drinking enough. Yesterday it was hot and I had one coffee before work and one tea at work. I’m upping my water today significantly.

You couldn't have gained 9lbs from a night of cocktails and tapas. See how it evens out over the next week or so before you panic. Go easy on yourself, we're all going to have to learn to adjust to some sort of new normal when we get to maintenance, it won't be perfect overnight x

Hiya, you need to either use this URL on any browser page or download the App. It is free but you will need to set up an account. There is a paid-for version which I think is great if you need a lot of design/photo-based stuff.

I still work sweet stuff into my calories.
I can’t tolerate much dairy any more and I’m right off processed meats and anything pastry based. But sweet stuff I am still enjoying most weeks, probably at the detriment of protein sometimes.

I always thought the salty snacks would be the last to go but am much more take it or leave it with those.

Mounjaropen · 10/07/2025 15:42

TeenLifeMum · 10/07/2025 12:36

I’ve reduced down to 5mg with the idea of coming off, but in 2 weeks I’ve put on 9lbs and now am classed as overweight again. I can’t afford to be on it forever so need to find a way to get control. Back to calorie counting in an app.

I thought I was making good choices. I think Saturday’s cocktails and tapas may be behind the jump. Line drawn and onwards we go.

I think there might be two issues - understanding and not eating more than your BMR+Exercise Rate (easily done - see my post from yesterday) or maybe you have some form of insulin resistance/spikes from some foods? (Obviously cocktails and full-fate tapas will account for some of this but it won't be only one night out)

My BMR is 1340. I have played tennis for an hour (lesson) so let's say that is 350 cals plus a Pvolve session of 33 mins and a short dog walk (let's call it 150 as I wasn't doing heavy weights and the walk was not taxing) so I have a total allowance today of 1840 to maintain my current weight of 135.00lbs but that does make a lot of assumptions about the exercise cals and assumes I haven't overeaten on the other 6 days.

Today I have eaten:

1 x Revive Collagen Sachet (40cals) plus 1 x Vit C Gummy
4 x Mejool dates prior to tennis lesson (178 cals)
I x 225g Rump steak (391cal) cooked in 10g of butter (74cals) served with rocket (23cals) and tomatoes (22cals) plus a 30ml drizzle of pizza express dressing (which at 352cals per 100ml is 105.6cals)
Packet of mini dark choc rice cakes post lunch with a coffee (102cals)
2 squares of dark Lindt chocolate (I did not need this at all - I was bored) 63cals

So even thought it feels like I've eaten 'nothing' (especially in terms of pre MJ!), I have had 998.6 cals already so if I had sat around all day I would only have 350ish calories for the rest of the day. A banana would be 90 of those as a good example. To lose a lb of fat per week I need to have a 500cal deficit every day for a week.

So my point is, it is really easy to forget the 'drizzle' of dressing or the 10g of butter here and there or the two squares of choc or to pour another glass of wine mid-week. Obviously I could make better choices in terms of method of cooking the steak, make a dressing from scratch and have an orange rather than 2 squares of Lindt to save calories, but this is the reality of busy Mum/work life - we grab what is there. So absolutely don't beat yourself up but be really mindful about lower cal swaps (one cal spray rather than butter) or a drizzle of balsamic vinegar rather than a shop-bought dressing that you might make.

Keep buggering on, you've got this 💪

well definitely do not go abroad for surgery - that's a one-way ticket to a disaster right there if you react badly!

I'm in the same boat - After 2 x RF treatments on my tummy I can see it is going to be a long slog. I am annoyed with myself for doing this to myself too. However, I do think I have lost 57lbs over 36 weeks and that is a lot over a short period of time - far shorter than it took to put on! So I have to go easy on myself. I have had all the collagen, all of the beauty treatments, done all of the toning and I am in no different a boat to you.

Remember - blokes (if that is your bag) are just happy to get to see you naked and a pair of boobs in real life. And they love an enthusiastic lover rather than a taut tummy! (I used to work exclusively with Men in a very male industry ;-) Another woman would be less judgemental about a saggy set of boobs I reckon? You can always get creative with chiffon wraps and bodysuit lingerie if the need arises.... in the meantime, think about the positive steps you have taken to get yourself healthier. I've had saggy boobs since I was a teenager so I was never destined for perky tits - but I won't have a lift/reduction that involves taking off and re-attaching my nipples without an absolute medical need to do so. My friend has just had all of the skin surgery and whilst she feels better, she no longer has a belly-button and the scars from all of skin removal from her tummy, arms and legs will take an age to fade.

We all have days like this - It is completely normal. Keep going and celebrate your successes thus far 💪

Thanks @Mounjaropen it’s good to hear that you understand and feel in the same boat. I have a friend who is going abroad for a breast lift and tummy tuck but I just don’t think I have the appetite for it. Even if I had the cash. It almost feels mean to be cross with my body when it’s doing its best. The right man wouldn’t care I’m sure. But I’m struggling to find a half decent one so that feels a tall order! But really it’s about me and how I feel. I’m the lowest weight I’ve been as an adult and yet there is still something to hate about myself. Some mental work to be done I think, as well as doing what I can to tone up. I’ve lost 25% of my body weight in 6 months. It wasn’t going to be perfect.

thanks for your understanding reply

People are attracted to happy, confident people who smile. Your Prince is out there - you might even already know him...STBDH and I absolutely detested each other when we met at work years ago.. and it turns out he was my 'Mr Big' after all (and after many false starts and ignoring the fact that I married the Aidan fella along the way 😂)

Big hugs from me too.

Do something different this weekend - something way out of your comfort zone - take a class in something new or go wild swimming, start at a running club/do a park run rather than the usual places you run and swim . You never know ;-)

Fair play to those who have gone to Lithuania or wherever for surgery. By the time I have lost a couple more stone I will a total body tuck but would rather spend the money on other things. I am not sure that the scars will fade at my age.

I know I will be on MJ / calorie counting / intermittent fasting or whatever forever. MJ has given me focus and I know if I lose focus it will pile on quickly so I will keep buggering on …
