Welcome to thread 11 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!
Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we throw away the tent dresses, have no chub rub and wear ALL the damn shorts as we head towards Summer Holiday Season. 🙌

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and generally mutually admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W29 D5 and on my third 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 1.8lbs
GW 9st 13.9 (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 51.2 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

@Mounjaropen @MagnoliaTreePetals I have ordered the Revive collagen now too! And got some more creatine (the MyProtein impact one, down to £6 a tub after various discounts, I’ve started taking it and it seems to agree with me).

I just think back to 6-7 months ago when I was vaguely remembering to take a general multivitamin a few times a week, and think about now, what a difference in education and approach!

Oh I hear you. I’m now on Vit D after reading the dr in the times say it was the only supplement he took and is essential if you wear a high spf every day (I do)

I also take the magnesium citrate gummies before bed. Vit C gummies and the collagen. Previously I took nothing 😂

The anecdote about being scared of the rib bumps is brilliant. I am reminded of when I got briefly super concerned about a small bump in my cat's fur, only to realise it was in fact one of her nipples.

Anyway.

I've had a busy couple of weeks, at a conference including lots of dinners, family wedding and a short break involving a lot of pastries, wine and not one but two tasting menus. I haven't weighed myself during all that and will now leave it a few more days to allow my body to adjust, then back to daily weighing.

I tell you what though it's brilliant not to have felt massive and uncom for all these things. I've 'only' lost about 2 stone which is less than many of you, and I have another stone to go, but it makes a big difference.

I also got dragged to. Barry's Bootcamp which I was quite scared of and it was actually totally fine and less difficult than my local gym. My first time ever on a treadmill too! I've always stuck to cross trainers previously.

🥳 go you! 💪💪💪

I promise you, no one is looking at you. Wear all the Lycra and look after your own body.

I haven’t checked in for ages! I’m down to 9st 12/13 at 5ft 5 or 6 - not sure how tall I am as I suspect I’ve shrunk a bit with age. I was 12st 2 when I started on MJ so I’m very happy with my weight. I’m flip flopping between wanting to just maintain and wanting to lose a couple more pounds to put some distance between me and 10 stone. I’ve dropped down to 5mg from 7.5mg and do seem to be maintaining as I’ve been the same weight for about 4 weeks. I did have to send some new photos off to Asda last time and I told them that I wanted to lose a few more pounds as I still carry a bit of weight around my middle. They just approved my order without any comment so I’ve decided to carry on with the 5mg for the meantime. I think it’s a maintenance dose anyway.
People have started to say that I look skinny but I’m still a size 12 so I’m not worried that I’m getting too thin. My face isn’t looking drawn and I still have a thickish waist. I’ve been buying a few new clothes on Vinted as I’m a bit wary of buying loads of new clothes as I still can’t believe that I’m slim and will stay slim. I’m hoping to stay on a maintenance dose of MJ for as long as possible as I have had dreadful food noise all my life.

👏👏👏 so happy for you! We’re the same height but I’m still stuck in the 10’s (10st 0.6 to be exact) unlikely to have a whoosh whilst on hols, but I’ve no access to chocolate or crisps or anything naughty so if I just stick to wine and salads I’m hoping to maintain.

Your cat story reminded me of when I sat next to a girl at school who was very upset after she took her tortoise to the vet to see why he wasn’t moving… the vet very straightforwardly said ‘that would be because he is dead’ 😵

Congrats all on great losses, sticking with it and all that exercise!

I had a g&t yesterday in the sunshine, first alcohol in months. You’d have thought I’d had six pints of cider the amount of times I had to wee after.
Alas all that liquid removal did not result in a whoosh this morning. Period plus some constipation and not eating enough last week to blame.
10mg is still crazy on the suppression. I’ve bought some higher calorie protein options to get my calories in at a more reasonable level for post jab days this week. I wish I liked protein drinks.

Ooh. A g&t! Now I want one 😂

Keep going! 💪

Happy new week death jabbers!

Didn't manage to check in with you last week as I was in London for work for most of it. But whoever recommended Farmer J salads, my bank balance needs a word 🙈😂 So bloody good though and honestly worth it!

Not much else to report really. Had my 'maintenance call'with Oushk even though I'm a good couple of kg away from maintenance. But I booked it months ago when i though 75kg was my goal and I had hoped to be there by now (currently 76kg and another 1kg is not where I want to stop yet!). But the call was very short and painless and that's me set up to continue with them, so all good.

Weight loss still crawling on, but it seems to be going in the right direction still (bar this morning when it jumped back up to 77kg, but I'm blaming a late pasta dinner for that!)

Have a great week everyone.

Think that was me. Glad you liked them! I made myself go for a £5 Waitrose meal deal today instead of the close to £13 Farmer J salad today, was going there way too much and they are both salmon salads (Waitrose one obviously not as tasty)

Oceangrey · 02/06/2025 12:32

I did actually bite the bullet and weigh this morning after my couple of weeks of extravagance and the scales have gone up by a couple of pounds which is disappointing but not surprising after all the pastries, cake, tasting menus and wine.

I'm going to actually start counting calories for a bit which I haven't done so far, to hopefully accelerate losing it.

Yes I'm quite glad I only have access once a month! The new potatoes & green beans with parmesan was amazing!

I fear I may need to start calorie counting too. Really really don't want to but my losses have slowed right down now I'm almost at goal. To be expected I guess but urgh. Cannot face the judgment of my fitness pal 😂

jaromoun · 02/06/2025 14:19

i’ve just had a video consultation with Oushk. i was with Voy and too scared to move in case no one else would take me in. but the pharmacist with Oushk was great. explained how the maintenance plan works etc. did a live weight which i think is a good thing too. i also like their flexible approach to tapering up and down rather than a rigid or automatic moving up.
voy started out well but ultimately they were difficult to deal with, charged me incorrectly every month, sent incorrect dosages and never gave me a straight answer to things.
so i’ve hit a bmi of 24 which was my goal and looking forward to staying where i am. i am doing some sessions with a PT to tone up which is the next hurdle but overall things looking good for ole jaromoun

Pumpkinforever · 02/06/2025 14:53

Just finished a funny meet up with a friend. Since mid-December whenever she sees me on my own she asks about how much weight I have lost. This time she talked about how hard she is finding weight loss instead of her usual advice to eat less she then said she has been researching weight loss injections and feels she has no option but to use them. She is not obese but overweight. I kept quiet but got the distinct feeling she wanted me to say ‘you guessed right I am taking the death jab and will be forever’. She definitely thinks I am cheating and strangely has been ordering exactly the same as me, even drinks the same amount of water, whenever we meet up together or with friends .

I can’t tell her, just can’t. I know she (bit like a town crier) will blab to our social group and beyond. ‘Liar, cheater, pumpkin taking death jabs. She looks thinner but is really just another fatty on meds. I told you so. I made her confess’.

The only people who know, other than you guys, is DH, DD, GP, dentist, pharmacy and maybe the postie 😂

Unfortunately there’s no jab that stops people blabbing! You did well to keep quiet. Once it’s out there you can’t take it back.

I’m now 50lbs down (a bale of hay?) and still at least that to go but that’s ok, I’ll get there - we all will!

Have a great week everyone!

MsRumpole · 03/06/2025 08:12

You know, I have been bumping around the same few pounds for a while now, today I hit my lowest weight yet since starting (20 stone 12 down from 23 stone 10). Another couple of pounds and that'll be 3 stone off which will make me very happy! Off to jab. Hopefully 7.5mg is going to kickstart me!

SerenePeer · 03/06/2025 08:17

@pumpkinforever I'm actually actively avoid my blabber mouth 'friend'. I really don't want to see her and have her notice my weight loss. She's the worst two-faced bissum I've ever met and I've been trying to disentangle myself from her for about 2 years. So well done for keeping quiet. These types will only ever see it as an opportunity to spread gossip.

NSV for me this morning. I can fit into the denim jacket I bought for going away to university! My arms have been too fat to go anywhere near it for many, many years and o can't actually remember the last time I wore it. But it saw me through 4 years of drunken clubbing at uni, so I couldn't part with it. Very glad I kept it now as it's adding a trendy edge to a black jersey dress I have on today! And I am finally 12 stone on the nose. Just a big poo away from the 11s!

Loving hearing all the good news. Even a couple of pounds up on holiday is good news, especially not throwing in the towel after.

My bad NSV, I’ve mentioned sitting on the tube etc and not worrying about thigh spread before. The downside, people sit next to me far more often now. Sigh.

Today I’m not massively full of air like the last two weeks on 10mg, still have high suppression but it’s not painful like before. I’m delighted. Just need the scales to cooperate now.
Have had my free banana for breakfast to add to the fibre. And may seek out farmer J for lunch due to the recommendations, when I worked in Canary Wharf I avoided it due to the length of the queue. Now I’m back in the city there’s more branches so it doesn’t look so bad…..

Caplin · 03/06/2025 16:37

I dropped just over a pound this week, but it means I’ve lost just under 3lbs all month with all the bouncing up and down a pound here and a pound there, blah!

Decided to up my dose to 6.25mg as I was starting to feel snackier and a bit less suppression, but didn’t want to go to 7.5 as my last jump up kicked my ass for ages. The suppression is back with a vengeance, but I still feel I can eat if I have to. So that is better than my last move up where I thought I would never enjoy food again 😂

5 weeks till Hawaii, so hopefully shift a few more pounds by then!!

SW: 18st 12.75lbs
CW: 14st 6.75lbs
GW: 12st 7lbs

MounjNewb · 04/06/2025 09:16

There has often been comment here about the cost of MJ and how it is likely more than offset by savings we are making on things we just don't want any more, like extra treats, takeaways, fancy coffees, wine (ahem....maybe), etc. etc.

I have blissfully aligned myself to this understanding through very basic analysis of the savings that both my DW and I are making. However........

The realisation has dawned on me just this morning that this is all bollocks. The new wardrobe spend going on at the moment is insane 😥. I get it, I really do, but.....well, let's say that we are not net 'up' financially.......there is literally a parade of parcels arriving everyday, much going back after trying on, but not all.

Of course - the sheer joy of being slimmer, happier, fitter versions of ourselves - not to mention the likely longer term cost and quality of life upside - certainly makes this all worth while. Happy wife = happy life........

.....and all the spend is on Amex, so the Avios are abundant! Hey ho.
