Welcome to thread 11 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!
Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we throw away the tent dresses, have no chub rub and wear ALL the damn shorts as we head towards Summer Holiday Season. 🙌

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and generally mutually admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W29 D5 and on my third 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 1.8lbs
GW 9st 13.9 (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 51.2 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Hiya , I’m new on here but post on MN mainly under another name, I started Nov 1st at 16 st 11.

Im now 13.4 🥳 want to lose approximately another stone. I’m 53, 5 foot 6. I suffer with slight lipodema in my lower legs which adds to my weight. However, unlike other diets Mounjaro has really had a great effect there. My legs are less swollen and feel a lot less heavy.

I did 1 x 2.5
2 x 5
4 x 7.5
Now halfway through a 10 pen. Kicked my arse with tiredness, heartburn and feeling freezing cold last week on the first dose for 2 days. Still some side effects this week but not as bad.

Just saying hi as we are very similar! I started at 16st 10lbs around the same time (currently 11st 11lb), also 5' 6" and am also a lipodema sufferer. I now have some baggy skin at the top of my legs that I didn't have before the weight gain but maybe it'll tighten up a bit. Nice to meet someone with such similar stats 🙂

Morning all. I have a bit of a hair related recommendation to share.

I’ve been using Denman hairbrushes most of my life but a couple of weeks ago whilst waiting to collect my MJ pen in my local (tiny!) Boots I spotted a hairbrush called the Wet Brush. Somewhat garish in design but promised to be great at detangling. And you know what, it’s actually really good! I get a lot of breakage with my hair and it’s been so much better. Looks like you can get them in different colours (I had a random blue and yellow one):

www.boots.com/wet-brush-original-detangler-hairbrush-10311899

Just in case helpful. It’s bad enough we are losing hair from the root at least this can help with the breakage!

IndigoHexagon · 01/06/2025 10:30

Update: after a much needed visit to the bathroom, I had another weigh … and I’m officially at just over 6st loss.

Stats:
SW: 113.35kg BMI: 38.3
CW: 74.85kg BMI: 25.3
Loss: 38.5kg
GW: 68kg BMI 23
Current MJ dose: 10mg

Celebrating with a protein iced coffee in bed!

Weigh-in today and for the first time since November - I am a pound on. Bit sad but I have been on holiday (buffets, carbs and beer being my particular downfalls this time!). It would easily have been half a stone pre-MJ so trying to feel cheerful about it. 7lbs still to go to a healthy BMI. I had hoped to get there for my birthday this month but I think it will take a while longer. Well done everyone this week.

I’d take that for the win - you are 6lbs lighter than you would’ve been on holiday pre MJ.. and only 1/2 stone to go to your healthy BMI 👏👏👏

Thanks for this! I have a similar thing for the shower made by denman. Round. Black and has a handle on the top. They do make a difference to hair breakage if you brush in the shower.

Just ordered some more revive collagen from H&B. Once I had combined their 3 for 2 and added on a 25% discount they emailed me (I leave stuff in the virtual basket until they do 😉) it works out at £115 for a 3 month supply. I then have another £5 in loyalty points which takes it down to £110. Given that a full price box for one month is £78, I’m taking that for the win 💪

I had to send updated photos too. I compared the current photo with the original photo and nearly died looking at the state of myself last November.

I've lost about 9lbs in May and am now back in the 11s - 10lbs to go until I'm back into a healthy BMI. And I'm back into most of my clothes, only the size 10 trousers left, although if I do make it back into them then every single other thing in the wardrobe will be too big!

I'm off on holiday in 20 days, would love a few more pounds by then.

9lb off in May is fab! Well done!

I got quite a shock this morning, I was getting dressed and happened to glance in the mirror while I had my arms in the air. I noticed 2 lumps at the bottom of my chest. Panic! what the hell are they???
I reached for my glasses to take a closer look and had a feel. RIBS!!! I can actually see and feel my lowest ribs. First time for God-knows how many decades.

Can't wait to see what else emerges.....

Ooh. I said hello to my ribs recently too 👏

Hi all! Couple of victories today! Non scale and scale….

Weighed first thing, as usual, and I’ve finally dropped under 12st (11st 12.5lb to be precise!) And just half a pound away from my six stone loss.

AND if that wasn’t enough - picked up a £3 top from Tesco they only had in a size 10… and it’s fits! It’s stretchy but not stretched..

And I bought a dress. I don’t do dresses usually but I really liked it.

A new stone bracket! 🥳🥳🥳 congratulations!

Evening skinny Minnie’s !
Im going to start in the gym now I’ve lost some weight, I’ve been swimming there but not ventured into the Lycra land of the gym, anyway, I’ve booked for a PT to ring me to book in some sessions, I am really clueless gym wise and really can’t afford to injure myself,so I thought better get some kit, I was tempted to get some leggings etc out of Tesco but I remember someone saying about get compression leggings so the wobble bits are more ‘contained’ I rarely treat my self ( if you exclude the monthly MJ bill ) so I thought I’m going to Sweaty Betty, went in asked for help said I didn’t even really know what size I am, I still can’t quite believe I’m not the 16-18 I was (I’m also short) any way I was a medium, I mean what the hell, really a medium ! So I’m definitely in the all the gear no idea camp!

Well done! Size M at SB is the holy grail! Enjoy!

Ooh thanks for the tip. I am thinking about trying marine collagen. I find the Will Powders bovine one excellent in that it literally is tasteless but do wonder if marine collagen might be better? I’ve been taking it for a few months now (20g a day, most days) and not really noticed a difference tbh. That said, I think my peri symptoms are scaling up significantly at the moment so it could be that the collagen has helped immensely and I’d be in a much worse state than I am in currently 😆

(Dry skin, hair loss, inability to concentrate / focus, aching knees at night, low mood)

I have another appointment with the GP this coming Friday to discuss HRT again.

Hi all - it's been great to catch-up with everyone's news today and good to see our erstwhile thread host enjoying herself on hols - Pvolve and all!

Maintenance going steady for me - holding nicely at desired weight, +/- a pound or two (or 4 more like after massive roast and a few glasses of red to celebrate Mum's partner's 70th last weekend 😬). Have nudged my dose back up a touch to 5.5mg and all is good.

The big news this week is that I had my Oushk maintenance consultation and placed my first order with them. What an utter joy those guys are to deal with. I managed to lose the link to the video call and whilst on the phone to try and sort this out last minute, the chap called my mobile so we could just do it over the phone. We talked through for a bit and he was very supportive about putting me on their 'Conti' plan where I just stick with a certain dose for the foreseeable (he mentioned years) and they periodically check in to make sure I'm not losing any more. They were quite happy with me aiming to float around 22.5 BMI.

He then said he'd send a link through with 3x 15% off and free delivery vouchers and that I could go ahead and place an order. The process of sticking all my info in again and posting some new photos (belly pushed out 😉) was super easy. There was then a weight verification which we hadn't been able to do on the phone, but the chap had offered to FaceTime me back later in the day, after I put the order in, which worked a treat. So so helpful and friendly - and cheaper than Simply Online who I've been with up until now. Excellent service.

Big big well done and thank you to Oushk - thoroughly recommended!!

p.s. - Oushk have a WhatsApp chat for the gents on MJ with them as their Facebook support group is, I think, just for the ladies. It's quite funny reading through the posts but I am sticking here with you wonderful lot who have just been such a support along the way.......

MagnoliaTreePetals · 01/06/2025 15:40

@IndigoHexagon Wow! 6 stone, is incredible. Many congratulations.

@Mounjaropen I didnt realise H&B did Revive collagen. I have a subscription with them but the H&B discounts are much better. I am now online with H&B doing an order! I was recommended it by my consultant dermatologist after I had some melanomas dug out. She said it's brilliant if you have wounds that need to heal and also recommended it for those losing weight, especially those of us who are peri/menopausal.

I was carrying 2 bags of shopping home yesterday, when I realised my arms now go down the sides of my body in a straight line, they do not have to bend out and around my previous curves. I know these are things that I will soon get used to but it is great to be able to register the changes.
DD made the most amazing pudding yesterday. Everyone had bowlfuls, I just got a teaspoon and she just let me have a taste of hers. So nice of her not to try and push me to have my own portion, nor take umbrage that I was holding back.

Goldleafcat · 01/06/2025 15:55

@Mounjaropen @MagnoliaTreePetals I have ordered the Revive collagen now too! And got some more creatine (the MyProtein impact one, down to £6 a tub after various discounts, I’ve started taking it and it seems to agree with me).

I just think back to 6-7 months ago when I was vaguely remembering to take a general multivitamin a few times a week, and think about now, what a difference in education and approach!

This is really promising and useful to hear, thank you. I’m with Boots at the moment (winces in £££) who I don’t believe do any sort of maintenance plan. I’m going to start looking into booking something in with Oushk I think. I’ve got a long way to go till I’m a healthy BMI so do have time (I know they’re popular and there is a long waiting list!).

Oceangrey · 01/06/2025 18:09

The anecdote about being scared of the rib bumps is brilliant. I am reminded of when I got briefly super concerned about a small bump in my cat's fur, only to realise it was in fact one of her nipples.

Anyway.

I've had a busy couple of weeks, at a conference including lots of dinners, family wedding and a short break involving a lot of pastries, wine and not one but two tasting menus. I haven't weighed myself during all that and will now leave it a few more days to allow my body to adjust, then back to daily weighing.

I tell you what though it's brilliant not to have felt massive and uncom for all these things. I've 'only' lost about 2 stone which is less than many of you, and I have another stone to go, but it makes a big difference.

I also got dragged to. Barry's Bootcamp which I was quite scared of and it was actually totally fine and less difficult than my local gym. My first time ever on a treadmill too! I've always stuck to cross trainers previously.

LilyRose88 · 01/06/2025 19:22

I haven’t checked in for ages! I’m down to 9st 12/13 at 5ft 5 or 6 - not sure how tall I am as I suspect I’ve shrunk a bit with age. I was 12st 2 when I started on MJ so I’m very happy with my weight. I’m flip flopping between wanting to just maintain and wanting to lose a couple more pounds to put some distance between me and 10 stone. I’ve dropped down to 5mg from 7.5mg and do seem to be maintaining as I’ve been the same weight for about 4 weeks. I did have to send some new photos off to Asda last time and I told them that I wanted to lose a few more pounds as I still carry a bit of weight around my middle. They just approved my order without any comment so I’ve decided to carry on with the 5mg for the meantime. I think it’s a maintenance dose anyway.
People have started to say that I look skinny but I’m still a size 12 so I’m not worried that I’m getting too thin. My face isn’t looking drawn and I still have a thickish waist. I’ve been buying a few new clothes on Vinted as I’m a bit wary of buying loads of new clothes as I still can’t believe that I’m slim and will stay slim. I’m hoping to stay on a maintenance dose of MJ for as long as possible as I have had dreadful food noise all my life.

Pumpkinforever · 02/06/2025 08:59

Congrats on the weight loss👏🏻 Take the skinny praise @LilyRose88 stick on 5mg for now as you might find that you gradually lose a few pounds over time anyway.

I suspect that I will be an MJ lifer once I have shifted another 2 stone. (Don’t know whether to laugh or cry at that)

jay55 · 02/06/2025 09:44

Congrats all on great losses, sticking with it and all that exercise!

I had a g&t yesterday in the sunshine, first alcohol in months. You’d have thought I’d had six pints of cider the amount of times I had to wee after.
Alas all that liquid removal did not result in a whoosh this morning. Period plus some constipation and not eating enough last week to blame.
10mg is still crazy on the suppression. I’ve bought some higher calorie protein options to get my calories in at a more reasonable level for post jab days this week. I wish I liked protein drinks.

So sorry to hear about your melanomas. I was examining my self yesterday for places I haven’t been able to access for decades 🙈

i think I did post about H&B in last month’s thread or maybe the April one? Basically they do offers at H&B on either the 14’s or the 28’s. I buy whatever format is cheapest per unit and then stack all the deals they have. This month I used 3 for 2 then left it in the basket for a couple of hours until they sent me a 25% discount (although there was an in-app 22% one available also). So for £115 I have got 3 months supply (84 sachets) which is £1.36 a shot - so cheaper than a take out coffee. I go for the enhanced plus one (dark purple) as it is the most amount of hydrolysed marine collagen you can take in one hit. They taste of tropical juice. Not unpleasant. Apparently the Absolute collagen ones taste of fish 🤢 (or so the reviews suggest) hence why I went for this brand. I was also told to take Vit c at the same time to increase absorption so I take a Vit c gummy at the same time as my post workout ‘fishy frube’ as DD calls the revive sachets 😂

Loving your NSV shopping arms! 💪
