Welcome to thread 11 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!
Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we throw away the tent dresses, have no chub rub and wear ALL the damn shorts as we head towards Summer Holiday Season. 🙌

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and generally mutually admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W29 D5 and on my third 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 1.8lbs
GW 9st 13.9 (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 51.2 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

One thought, @MounjNewb is that if we keep on putting ON weight we also have to buy new clothes, but maybe not as many as a re-sized complete wardrobe overhaul requires!

You could think about selling your old clothes on Vinted.
Having sized down, I filled up 2 large bin bags full of larger clothes to go to the charity shop. DD suggested selling them on Vinted but I just didn't have the time or brain space (I thought), and said she could keep any money she made if she wanted to sell them.
In less than 3 weeks she had made over £300. The only cost was brown paper to wrap the clothes in. (I realised that If I had done it, I would have paid for 2 MJ pens!).
It's a really good easy system: Upload photographs of the clothes & give a full description. However much you sell the clothes for, you get. The buyer pays the Vinted commission and postage. You get sent an email with a postage label/QR code. Drop off the parcel at a shop/post office/parcel locker, and it goes to the buyers collection point.

I do agree, feeling fitter, slimmer and happier is incredibly precious.

There has often been comment here about the cost of MJ and how it is likely more than offset by savings we are making on things we just don't want any more, like extra treats, takeaways, fancy coffees, wine (ahem....maybe), etc. etc.

I have blissfully aligned myself to this understanding through very basic analysis of the savings that both my DW and I are making. However........

The realisation has dawned on me just this morning that this is all bollocks. The new wardrobe spend going on at the moment is insane 😥. I get it, I really do, but.....well, let's say that we are not net 'up' financially.......there is literally a parade of parcels arriving everyday, much going back after trying on, but not all.

Of course - the sheer joy of being slimmer, happier, fitter versions of ourselves - not to mention the likely longer term cost and quality of life upside - certainly makes this all worth while. Happy wife = happy life........

.....and all the spend is on Amex, so the Avios are abundant! Hey ho.

Ahh but then you are a chap. Chaps don’t tend to hold onto clothes for 20+ yrs in the hope they’ll one day fit again 😂 With the exception of a couple of new bikinis, a Zara short suit, a tennis skirt, some new undies and my very fancy blouse, all my clothes and shoes have been free from my own wardrobe… NSV, My instagram looks like I have an entirely new wardrobe by virtue of the fact it wasn’t around 20 years ago 😆

But frankly I’d pay any amount to feel this happy right now..! 🥰

I’m definitely doing to do this when I get back. I still lust after the gold self portrait dress that is not in the sale…😭 any tips as to what sells gratefully received!

I dropped just over a pound this week, but it means I’ve lost just under 3lbs all month with all the bouncing up and down a pound here and a pound there, blah!

Decided to up my dose to 6.25mg as I was starting to feel snackier and a bit less suppression, but didn’t want to go to 7.5 as my last jump up kicked my ass for ages. The suppression is back with a vengeance, but I still feel I can eat if I have to. So that is better than my last move up where I thought I would never enjoy food again 😂

5 weeks till Hawaii, so hopefully shift a few more pounds by then!!

SW: 18st 12.75lbs
CW: 14st 6.75lbs
GW: 12st 7lbs

Well done! I’m definitely in a plateau but then again I’m having ALL of the Greek wine right now 😂

Loving hearing all the good news. Even a couple of pounds up on holiday is good news, especially not throwing in the towel after.

My bad NSV, I’ve mentioned sitting on the tube etc and not worrying about thigh spread before. The downside, people sit next to me far more often now. Sigh.

Today I’m not massively full of air like the last two weeks on 10mg, still have high suppression but it’s not painful like before. I’m delighted. Just need the scales to cooperate now.
Have had my free banana for breakfast to add to the fibre. And may seek out farmer J for lunch due to the recommendations, when I worked in Canary Wharf I avoided it due to the length of the queue. Now I’m back in the city there’s more branches so it doesn’t look so bad…..

Enjoy the wanky London salads! Glad you are feeling better 🥰

I'm having a bit of trouble feeling optimistic about MJ today. The weight loss is lovely but I have just thrown up what I ate at 4pm yesterday and have lost the whole morning to feeling ill (though I did go to the gym).

Oh no! Was it what you ate? I had a pizza here the other night and let’s just say it proved to be a ‘system unblocker’ 😂💩 I think my cheese tolerance is low these days…

Loving all these positive vibes 😍 Well done everyone 😊

Pleased to report that after my month long stall and subsequent upping to 7.5mg I'm losing again and back on track - whehey!

Weighed in today at 9st 8 lbs, so only 6lbs to go before I'm actually at a healthy weight. I've been concentrating so hard on losing (and have only just allowed myself to accept that this is actually bloody working!) that I've not really thought about maintenance yet.

Better get onto that soon - which is exciting and scary in equal measures

Cantbesure · 04/06/2025 12:47

happy mid week fellow death jabbers. Very jealous of those of you enjoying wine and sunshine right now.

I had an injection fail for the first time yesterday. At the site there was a big red hard lump. Apparently this means injected into the skin and not the fat. Not sure if this is going to impact on the efficacy. I hope not. I had decided to do another 10mg rather than come down a dose in the hope of getting to 110lbs as a lovely round number and dropping me into the lower stone bracket. But today I’ve weighed at 113.5 which is a bit annoying. I’ve stayed within my calorie deficit, only had 2 glasses of wine over the weekend and have really been focused on exercise. I can rationalise the increase (ate late after exercise, water retention, inflammation etc) but it’s still hard to see the number going up (and taking me away from target). So much of this journey is in our head isn’t it?

I am loving all the exercise though. I’m getting good value from my gym membership. I joined a new running club last night and did over 7k followed by a lovely stretch class at the gym. Netball tonight (not thru the gym). Swimming tomorrow. HIIT class and spa on Saturday. probably a solo run at some point or parkrun. It feels good to be moving.

jay55 · 04/06/2025 15:45

With you on the wardrobe spend. I don’t have anything from my next size down lurking anywhere. Three new dresses arrived yesterday, they all fit, so happy, two more are on order.
Not buying jeans for another 10-15kg, figure I’ll manage without for the summer. I tried the waist adjuster buttons but they didn’t do too well.

If you are thinking of selling on vinted, some great tips in a DT article.

Has anyone had experiences with MedExpress after reaching BMI 25? Do they cut you off right away, or is there a maintenance dose situation?

The website seems to imply they cut you off at 25?

Cantbesure · 04/06/2025 18:37

@LindtCurvesI think they cut you off at 23.5. I left for oushk when I was getting towards a healthy BMI.

Arglefraster · 04/06/2025 19:06

cant I really felt the "journey is in our head"!! I hope the lump is dissipating & not uncomfortable.

Jay you could put elastic the the back waistband - won't make a big difference but will get rid of the low back gap!
