Welcome to thread 11 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!
Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we throw away the tent dresses, have no chub rub and wear ALL the damn shorts as we head towards Summer Holiday Season. 🙌

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and generally mutually admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W29 D5 and on my third 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 1.8lbs
GW 9st 13.9 (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 51.2 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I'm having a few fat and frumpy days. I seem to remember this happening when I lost weight for my wedding and it usually happened when I was between sizes or just before a whoosh...it's like the fat cells decide to have one last hurrah and swell up before they go pop 😂 That's my unhinged theory anyway!

We’ll all have days like this… don’t let them derail you from the fantastic achievement getting here 💪

Hope the wanky London salad was good!

Keep going @IHateMozzies my weight change is stop start. Just need a downward trend.

@PinkArt you have been in the wars! Fingers crossed for you. Took me until 60 to really think about mortality and the impact of my obesity. Touch wood I have made the right changes now but PE can happen to anyone.

@MagnoliaTreePetals set point theory is interesting. I hope that as we lose weight we create a new set point over time which is hopefully can be established during maintenance.

Just had my hair done and my still fat arse could fit very comfortably in hairdressers chair. That has to be a NSV 😂 Haven’t seen this hairdresser for a year as been trimming my own fringe and she said ‘you’ve lost weight, looking much better’.

We are all winning team 💪🏻 5 months to our Mounjaroversary.

Loving that NSV today! 🙌

Ooooh, yeah other than the ergonomics of making it fit your head I bet the face mask would work.
I'm feeling ok again now. The shortness of breath has gone as has the chest pressure. I'm still getting a lot of head rushes but I used to have those a lot as a low blood pressured teen, so just have to remember to give myself a beat when I stand up.
This is the second PE I've had so it's likely I'll stay on the anticoagulants for life. The newer ones seem much better than the warfarin I was on before though, so I've made my peace with that.
I'm currently just working through my thoughts about it all. I'd packed it away as a bad thing that happened in the past and I was slightly incredulous that it had happened again. Mine was mild as PEs go but it makes you consider you own mortality and how our bodies are amazing and very fragile all at once. I'll get out of my head again soon though.
I hope your DH is doing ok now.

Glad to hear you are on the mend 🥰

I’ve actually put 3lb on! But I have been purposefully eating more (steak! Roast gammon! Lots of fish) to try to counteract hair loss gate. Anyway, after doing more reading it sounds like hair loss can continue for months, especially if you are still losing weight, and probably will sort itself out once you start maintaining your weight (phenomenon known as telogen effouvium).

I’m throwing everything including the kitchen sink at it anyway (especially as I have a few stone to go!), trying the Minoxidil, continuing the nioxin, collagen, vitamins and biotin. I know minoxidil is effective only as long as you continue to take it, but my reasoning is that if it does help, hopefully it’ll see me through to the long awaited maintenance stage where my hair will hopefully be back in a better place anyway, so the new minoxidil growth falling out (if it does) will be less of an issue. Or maybe I’ll love it and keep taking it. My hair has always been very fine, but lots of it.

I do think perimenopause is a contributing factor too.

Urgh!

Keep going 💪

I, like most of the group to some extent, have been looking for solutions to constipation. Last week I bought a box of All Bran and I've been having a bowl per day to see if that helps, it has on the one hand. From day 2 I would say there was an improvement in moving the bowels, maybe a little too much by this morning (I finished the box yesterday). However I have noticed my stomach has been bloated and my pre MJ symptoms of heartburn were coming back. Not the actual burn but the feeling of a lump in my throat.

I'm going to try and go down to a bowl every other day and see what it does but I thought I'd share my experience as I know it's one of the common issues.

Have you been low-carbing? If you have it might be your body readjusting to them?

Hello! Guidance needed. One way or the other, I haven't taken a shot for nearly 3 weeks, and Shotsy says I am down to 1mg in my system. I have a 7.5mg pen. Any views on whether I just take the whole shot or whether I take say 5mg and work back up?

I’d start back at 2.5mg personally.

Not sure what is going on this week but having spent last week exercising a lot and not really moving the scales, I’m already 1.6lbs down this week since Saturday’s weigh-in. TL so far is 55.2lbs… which means I’m 0.8lbs away from my 4 stone rosette - 🤞🤞🤞🤞I might see it this week!

In other news, my metabolic age is 51… I wonder what I’ve got to do to turn my clock back to my forties? 😂

Thanks for all the advice. I started on 2.5 today. (Or thereabouts, I accidentally did about four extra clicks so no idea what dose that was!)

There’s plenty of room on the 4 stone bench.

Death jabs alert!

But, the maths isn't math-ing. Shame on the Guardian.

If 500,000 people in the UK take a GLP-1 (according to Google), and less than 400 have reported pancreatitis, then that's a rate of 0.08%. That is incredibly low, and much lower than the 1% warning that is on the side effects list that you should read before you start GLP-1...

Seriously, the scare tactics are getting on my nerves...

Hundreds of weight loss and diabetes jab users report pancreas problems

morning everyone,

Weekly weigh in on 4mg dose..
week 31
SW 18st 4.3lbs
CW 15 stone 0.8lb

2 lb loss this week
total loss so far 3 stone 3.5lbs
I have lost 18% of my starting weight
SBMI 43
CBMI 36.1

Step count this week 72776

Well done to everyone on the great losses and to those that have reached maintenance stage, we can do this. 💪

IndigoHexagon · 26/06/2025 10:00

Note to self. Unexpected side effect of losing weight.
Strong painkillers on an empty stomach will be STRONG.
And not a good idea.

Having a (reoccurring) issue with shoulder, neck and back tension - popped some painkillers yesterday, and didn’t even think that they might work differently. I’ve never had side effects from them before. Almost as bad as the pain they eased!

jay55 · 26/06/2025 10:01

Welcome back @LimeLacebrilliant to have kept the losses going whilst dealing with everything and not having the support drugs.

My weight is on the move again after a few days bouncing. 10mg still surprises, I now tend to be able to eat on jab day, the morning after and then on day 7. So rather than it wearing off faster as the weeks go by it seems to kick in more slowly.

Yesterday I felt kind of snacky in the evening. Had a few chilli rice crackers, and stopped after a handful, craving satisfied. I still marvel at the ability to put a clip on a bag of snacks and not think about it again.

I’ve noticed this too. Up until the end of may, I was eating very little the first two days after Jab day and then slowly increasing each day until Jab day again. Since à weekend away, which was catered (so eating specific meals at set times) I’ve found that I am able to eat more on those two post jab days and that my appetite is consistent throughout the week. Moved up à dose two weeks after that weekend away.

My weight loss has kind of stalled though. Well, it feels like it’s stalled, just slowed to a more sustainable pace! I’ve actually been bouncing up and down the same kilo for about three weeks now!

MagnoliaTreePetals · 26/06/2025 11:18

Im not weighing in this week as I am lucky enough to be having a meal out 4 days in a row (2 birthdays, wedding anniversary and girls lunch out) and we are away for the weekend. So I am making good choices, eating small amounts, enjoying myself and will be an angel for 6 days before weighing in next week.

I only have 1 lb to go for my 4 stone loss, so that is also helping to motivate me.

Instead of weighing, I re-measured myself.
Fortunately I did it at the start and have been doing it every month since.

stomach, lost 18cm
waist, lost 18cm
Hips/bottom, lost 15cm
around a thigh lost 9cm
upper arms, lost 6cm

Despite knowing this, I also get the 'feeling fat and frumpy days' @SerenePeer I can be feeling 'Ooohh, look at me, haven't I done well' one day, and then the next day my totally untrustworthy psychae is saying the opposite. I have to fight to tell untrustworthy psychae to go away!

It's really great to hear from you @LimeLace , a massive well done for not just maintaining when you had to come off MJ, but continuing to lose. Thank you for your update and reassuring message. The closer I creep to my target weight, the more I think about how I am going to hold onto this new healthy me that I have found. It's really helpful to get your input.

Im glad that you have physically got over the PE @PinkArt , and are now settled with the anticoagulants. It is a bit of a mental challenge though to recover our emotional balance when something quite so profound health-wise has happened to us.

Wasn't there a film @Mounjaropen , where someone lived the aging process in reverse. ?Benjamin Button? That's you!

random223 · 26/06/2025 17:24

Welcome back *@LimeLace and thanks for the good news update that you were still able to lose weight

lovealongbath · 26/06/2025 17:56

My friend and I have grandchildren who were born 1 month apart and we both provide child care on a Thursday so we regularly have play dates and meet up at parks and soft play.
My grandchild is very light and I can pick her up no problem. Today, my friends grandson needed lifted up onto a piece of play equipment, I was closest to him so I would lift him.
My goodness, I really struggled to lift him, he was much heavier than my granddaughter.
My friend commented that he now weighs 20kg.
What have I lost in weight…… 20kg

so I have lost a chunky wee 3 year old 🤣

MsRumpole · 26/06/2025 20:46

Definitely noticing the effect of the 2.5mg!

Pumpkinforever · 27/06/2025 00:04

I seem to do that now @IndigoHexagon A couple of weeks bouncing around the same few pounds then a little whoosh followed by a bounce. It’s seems my pattern from February. I am expecting to STS next week as I have lost the past few weeks.I don’t mind now as in my mind it is my body resetting its new set point.

out tonight - no starter, salad for main but did indulge in a coffee and mini dessert. No guilt at all (thanks to a few glasses of wine 😂😂 but did do 14000 steps earlier in the day.

Mounjaropen · 27/06/2025 09:02

Good morning friends in my phone!

It’s a particularly exciting Friday here….firstly I am one step closer as now only 0.4LBS to go before my four stone rosette….

But more excitingly, today I am wedding dress shopping! I know I refer to him as DH, but we have never officially tied the knot as both of us were previously married (literally in the last century 😂) fun fact – it turns out you really should keep things like marriage certificates from your first wedding (or at least know where they are) because otherwise you end up paying £42 for something you did not need a reminder of so you can get married again..
DD is going to have the strange experience of helping her mother pick her dress to get married to her father in to improve both of their tax positions (who said romance was dead?) 😂 anyway, I’m pretty sure I would not be as keen to dress up had I not lost all of this weight. Obviously, we have both done the big white bridezillaweddings previously, so I’m going for a more chilled vibe this time – no big meringue dresses, just a simple dress, with knockout shoes (think Carrie getting married at City Hall to Big in SATC.. no birds on the head for me!). Registry office followed by a fancy dinner for us, the kids and ride or die friends. I expect undoubtedly I will offend some people by not inviting them, but I’d like one long table, good wine, good food and not giving a shit about whether or not the flowers match the napkins and whether or not we’ve invited second cousin Maureen. 😂

So cheers, and God bless IHT rules, a labour government and an impending heart operation for soon to be DH…
