Welcome to thread 11 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!
Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we throw away the tent dresses, have no chub rub and wear ALL the damn shorts as we head towards Summer Holiday Season. 🙌

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and generally mutually admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W29 D5 and on my third 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 1.8lbs
GW 9st 13.9 (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 51.2 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

📣📣📣 overweight and no longer obese 📣📣📣

Thank you MJ and to the November Support Crew.

Family event at the weekend and I don’t have to hide in the photos. Have posted my NHS BMI. I started at 40.9 in November and I am now 29,6.

SW 100.7kg / 15 stone 12lbs
CW 73.48 kg / 11 stone 8lbs
Total Loss 27.2kg/ 4 stone 4lbs /60 Guinea pigs/

This is incredible well done! 🎉

Sorry to hear of your troubles as a child, I hope you are now surrounded by people who value you for your qualities rather than your dress size 🥰

I am thank you (mostly, perhaps not my MIL, but never mind!)

@Pumpkinforever

amazing! 👏

MagnoliaTreePetals · 25/06/2025 08:03

Thank you @BlueWalker and @Mounjaropen . Yes, the progesterone tablets may need to be upped a dose while on MJ. I had already spoken to my HRT specialist about this but she reassured me that as I was already on the upper dose, had had no bleeding nor any digestive symptoms that MJ might be interrupting absorption she was happy for me to continue as is for the time being.
A couple of years ago I did try taking the progesterone (Utrogestran) vaginally, but as I am also using vagifem pessaries it all just got a bit fiddly and complicated, but it is an option I could go back to! Menopause is delightful isn't it! However, I am and will be eternally grateful for HRT, (I think my family are as well!)

jay55 · 25/06/2025 08:14

@Pumpkinforeverwoohooooo that’s amazing!!! Congratulations.

MagnoliaTreePetals · 25/06/2025 08:15

Congratulations @Pumpkinforever It's such a great milestone to go from Obese to overweight, AND you are well over 4 stone lost!
I love the way we can celebrate any manner of achievements as we go along, including all the NSV's, a sense of achievement really helps me to keep going. I get a real joy when I see the next stone level.

Also, thank you to everyone who advised me to go up a dose when I was getting food noise about 10 days ago. I was on 10mg, I used my bonus dose to go up to 11.3, which really helped. Going up to 12.5 today. Interestingly the return of the food noise coincided with a slowing down of weight loss, despite making a huge effort not to eat any more than I was before.
I am speaking to my Dr later this week and will find out more about set point theory.

Checking in for this week. Didn’t loose a thing last week but managed to loose 2 1/4 lb this week! 🙌🏻

1.5lb to get to 3 stone off 🤞🏻

Invisablepanic · 25/06/2025 09:24

I, like most of the group to some extent, have been looking for solutions to constipation. Last week I bought a box of All Bran and I've been having a bowl per day to see if that helps, it has on the one hand. From day 2 I would say there was an improvement in moving the bowels, maybe a little too much by this morning (I finished the box yesterday). However I have noticed my stomach has been bloated and my pre MJ symptoms of heartburn were coming back. Not the actual burn but the feeling of a lump in my throat.

I'm going to try and go down to a bowl every other day and see what it does but I thought I'd share my experience as I know it's one of the common issues.

Goldleafcat · 25/06/2025 09:39

I’ve actually put 3lb on! But I have been purposefully eating more (steak! Roast gammon! Lots of fish) to try to counteract hair loss gate. Anyway, after doing more reading it sounds like hair loss can continue for months, especially if you are still losing weight, and probably will sort itself out once you start maintaining your weight (phenomenon known as telogen effouvium).

I’m throwing everything including the kitchen sink at it anyway (especially as I have a few stone to go!), trying the Minoxidil, continuing the nioxin, collagen, vitamins and biotin. I know minoxidil is effective only as long as you continue to take it, but my reasoning is that if it does help, hopefully it’ll see me through to the long awaited maintenance stage where my hair will hopefully be back in a better place anyway, so the new minoxidil growth falling out (if it does) will be less of an issue. Or maybe I’ll love it and keep taking it. My hair has always been very fine, but lots of it.

I do think perimenopause is a contributing factor too.

Urgh!

PinkArt · 25/06/2025 10:34

@Goldleafcat I bought one of these to help with the hair loss https://www.cultbeauty.co.uk/p/solaris-labs-ny-intensive-red-led-hairband-supporting-growth/15686051/? With some stacked discounts because I was too sceptical to spend £120 if it was just nonsense.
I think mine was actually mostly affected by the pulmonary embolism or the high dose anticoagulants but mounjaro played a part. The loss is almost back down to just general shower hair and I can see baby hairs appearing under my fringe.

Ooh thank you for the recommendation!

And reminding me that I could probably use my Shark LED mask!

Honestly, brain like a sieve at the moment.

That is brilliant your hair is improving.

How are you feeling now after the pulmonary embolism? Do you still take anticoagulants now? My DH had one in 2023 (with other issues).

Checking in and catching up! In London this week so just had my expensive wanky salad (so bloody tasty though!).

Realised I have a bit of a wardrobe malfunction 🙈 The new dress i bought to wear in the office tomorrow is sleeveless with a suggestion of a racer back. Trouble is I forgot and didnt try it on with a bra until I was unpacking tonight...so how uncouth is it to have your bra straps on show? Asking for a friend ahem 🙈

No one cares these days. Bra straps on show are fine 😊

Ooooh, yeah other than the ergonomics of making it fit your head I bet the face mask would work.
I'm feeling ok again now. The shortness of breath has gone as has the chest pressure. I'm still getting a lot of head rushes but I used to have those a lot as a low blood pressured teen, so just have to remember to give myself a beat when I stand up.
This is the second PE I've had so it's likely I'll stay on the anticoagulants for life. The newer ones seem much better than the warfarin I was on before though, so I've made my peace with that.
I'm currently just working through my thoughts about it all. I'd packed it away as a bad thing that happened in the past and I was slightly incredulous that it had happened again. Mine was mild as PEs go but it makes you consider you own mortality and how our bodies are amazing and very fragile all at once. I'll get out of my head again soon though.
I hope your DH is doing ok now.

Pumpkinforever · 25/06/2025 11:49

Keep going @IHateMozzies my weight change is stop start. Just need a downward trend.

@PinkArt you have been in the wars! Fingers crossed for you. Took me until 60 to really think about mortality and the impact of my obesity. Touch wood I have made the right changes now but PE can happen to anyone.

@MagnoliaTreePetals set point theory is interesting. I hope that as we lose weight we create a new set point over time which is hopefully can be established during maintenance.

Just had my hair done and my still fat arse could fit very comfortably in hairdressers chair. That has to be a NSV 😂 Haven’t seen this hairdresser for a year as been trimming my own fringe and she said ‘you’ve lost weight, looking much better’.

We are all winning team 💪🏻 5 months to our Mounjaroversary.

I’m so pleased you’re feeling a lot better. I’m not surprised you were incredulous, to have it twice must have been a massive shock. You are spot on about how amazing and fragile our bodies are. It’s mind blowing thinking about all the things they just get on with on a day to day basis!

My DH is doing ok, he has heart failure so the PE was likely linked to that. He is on warfarin (weirdly the more modern and advanced anticoagulants didn’t seem to agree with him quite as well).

I'm having a few fat and frumpy days. I seem to remember this happening when I lost weight for my wedding and it usually happened when I was between sizes or just before a whoosh...it's like the fat cells decide to have one last hurrah and swell up before they go pop 😂 That's my unhinged theory anyway!

LimeLace · 25/06/2025 21:03

Hi everyone, I don’t know if any of you will remember me but I left this thread back in Feb 2025 because I came off the MJ jab. I thought back then the MJ jabs were affecting my blood levels (I have a chronic illness, not obesity-related) but my bloods have improved so I have just taken my “second time lucky” first 2.5mg jab on Sunday, so fingers crossed I have the same success as last time.

Just to give you a heads up, the main reason I wanted to post here was because although I lost three stone from Nov 2024 to Feb 2025 while on MJ… I have actually lost another half a stone since then without MJ. I wanted to give some reassurance that despite what the media say, it is possible to live a life without MJ eventually (if you choose not to do maintenance jabs, that is) I continued going to the gym and watching what I ate. I know half a stone in three months isn’t a lot, but my mindset has changed - I didn’t beat myself up about this and I’m telling myself it’s a marathon, not a sprint. I will eventually get down to a much healthier weight. I’m currently 16 stone, I started at 19 stone 8 pounds in November 2024.

So yeah, I just wanted to give some hope because I know a lot of people worry about putting weight back on. You won’t do if you tell yourself it’s a lifestyle change, you keep watching what you eat and continue doing whatever exercise you can 🙂 I am going to be honest, the food noise did creep in from time to time but I felt stronger and didn’t always cave in (I’m only human - I did cave in a few times 🫣)

I have chosen to go back on MJ to help give me a boost to lose some more weight, and I only plan on using MJ for possibly another 3/4 months and see where I end up.

Anyway, apologies for the essay. I just wanted to give some reassurance, I hope my post will maybe help alleviate some worries. I hope you all have a lovely evening ❤️

TeenLifeMum · 25/06/2025 21:18

Welcome back @LimeLace

Now, for me it’s another day and another dress to try from the “hasn’t fit me since 2021” collection. It’s a monsoon size 10 with a gathered skirt that’s forgiving over the hips. It fits. I’m so happy.

I don’t think anyone would look at me and think I’m a size 10 due to my hips/bum but top is there. 32E boobs down from 34GG. Really need to:

  1. Tone up with my weights that are collecting dust
  2. not let the next few weeks of work stress lead to food… today I had chips for lunch and squashams then cereal for tea.
