Welcome to thread 11 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!
Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we throw away the tent dresses, have no chub rub and wear ALL the damn shorts as we head towards Summer Holiday Season. 🙌

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and generally mutually admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W29 D5 and on my third 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 1.8lbs
GW 9st 13.9 (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 51.2 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I mean, what a result! You are at my goal weight... and started about the same size... congrats!

Could anything else be at play for the weight gain?

I really kicked off my exercising with a bang, weights x 2, running x3, horse riding x 2 (in one week) so could be muscle gain? Also upping protein… but this sounds like my old… its muscle not fat i’m gaining, head chat… 😂

🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

IT HAS FINALLY HAPPENED..

Today, I am 9 stone 13.4lbs 💪

I have not been anything like this weight since the mid 1990’s.

Been struggling all week with not losing anything despite all the clean eating, exercise and general good behaviour so I had a couple of glasses of rose with DH and bingo!

TL on MJ so far 53.6lbs.

My fancy scales now have all my stats in Green. My BMI is 23.0. My muscle mass is up at 68.6%. My metabolic age is 2 years younger than my actual age.

Whikst in green, my BMR is average and my body fat seems higher than I’d like at 26.9% so I’m aiming for under 25% to achieve ‘fitness’ - ‘’athletic’ would be 21% which I am not 😂

Today has given me a real boost. I’m at a school reunion later which I most definitely would’ve declined this time last year…I am so thankful for MJ, my ability to afford it and the support from the lovely friends in my phone 🥰

@Mounjaropen i bet you look fabulous!

I’m stuck at 10st 3/10st 4 but I’ve been ravenous this week. You’d think in the heat I’d be less hungry. Also struggling with low blood pressure and jelly legs. Today I’m going to be drinking constantly in the hope hydration helps.

Hooray! 🎉 🌟

Well done! You’ve done so well, both on the weight loss and fitness front! You and quite a few of the PPs on this thread are what has encouraged me to get off my backside.

Have a fantastic time at the reunion tonight and enjoy looking fabulous!

A few of us have been inexplicably ravenous this week, it’s really quite bizarre! Maybe it is a heat thing? Normally it puts me off eating, but maybe with MJ it does something different (is there something to the feeling cold with MJ? Goodness only knows!)

random223 · 21/06/2025 09:07

Wonderful news @Mounjaropen . I am particularly impressed by your fitness stats.

I am checking in today with a 50lb loss! 3lbs to go to a healthy BMI (10 st 3) but I think I would look better at 9 stone something ( last seen in the early 90s!)

Invisablepanic · 21/06/2025 09:20

Fantastic news @Mounjaropen and congratulations to @random223 for hitting 50lbs!

I haven't been hungrier this week as some of you have but I've definitely had times where I have been. I've tended to lean into it a bit - as healthily as possible.

I'm down another couple of lbs this week and have been able to crack out some of my old dresses. My youngest has been complimenting them, asking if they are new. They aren't I just haven't been able to fit in them since I got pregnant with him! It's odd as I always felt like I was a slim(ISH) person who just happened to be going through a fat stage after my 3rd dc, but actually as he's 8 it means I spent most of my 30s overweight and uncomfortable which feels like such a waste. I let a lot of things socially slide as I was self conscious, hopefully I can pull it back now I'm 40 and actually have some fun!

@Mounjaropenwell done. Envious as we had the same starting weight and height and I’m still at 10 stone 10. Got down to 10 stone 9 but I’m hovering here now for ages again
very frustrating.
exercise has been woeful as I was struck down with a UTI so need to get going again.

getting my first ever Botox this afternoon. Very nervous. My Dh is very against the idea saying it’s a slippery slope. Little does he know I’m also research getting a boob reduction!
up since 4 with my little dog as my bedroom was too hot for her. Will be a long day.

any tips for hydrating? I’m very dehydrated after my uti.

Pumpkinforever · 21/06/2025 09:44

@Mounjaropen congratulations 🥳 I can hear that klaxon ringing loud and clear. You will love fabulous at the school reunion. I would love to be at the mid 9s which would put me in a healthy BMI

@random223 50lbs down is a great achievement

@Invisablepanic great to move to a ‘new wardrobe’. I have cleared out all of my size 20/22/xxl/xl stuff. I should get rid of all size 18 as I am now 14/16 but some of the tops I have hardly worn so I have gone for a mixed baggy look for this current warm weather.

Pumpkinforever · 21/06/2025 09:47

@flametrees At the start of my MJ journey I was saving money. Eight months with the Nov24 gang is now costing money 😂 as my eyes have been opened to a whole new world of beauty/health etc

Happy Friday team skinny Minnie's!

I had a mini freak out this morning when DH made a passing comment about my hair looking thinner, so I've just ordered the Hair & Me Minoxidil - just waiting to be approved. I've also ordered some hair oil capsules with rosemary and other scalp stimulating ingredients!

I might be being paranoid as I've always had to unblock the shower and rescue the hoover from my hair shedding, but it was starting to freak me out. So taking action now before my hair thins any more!

After reading your post you’ve inspired me to do the same! Submitted my photos this morning (they’re dreadful but never mind).

I’ve realised it’s ok to treat myself. I never normally do. My daughters get their nails done. One gets Botox in her underarms for sweating. One goes to a personal trainer and they are only starting out in careers. I’m working all my life and spend nothing on myself. Nails are next now.

What have you treated yourself to?

MagnoliaTreePetals · 21/06/2025 10:14

Hurrah @Mounjaropen many congratulations! You have really earned the success, not just for persistence, but for all that exercise you did while on holiday! (I am still impressed by that!) 👏👏❤️

Also @random223 for reaching 50lb milestone.
Your successes inspire me.

My treat to myself @flametrees is the pedicure I had yesterday. A lovely dark red wine colour that looks great with my mainly blue or pink wardrobe. I promised it to myself when I got to my lowest weight for 30 years, which I did last week!

DarkForces · 21/06/2025 10:15

@flametrees I find squash much more satisfying when I'm thirsty than water, especially with ice.

I treat myself to a spa treatment every few months, the odd Rocco box and decent moisturiser. I love getting my nails done but always chip the varnish and then that's all I can see. I treat dd to manicures sometimes as seeing her happy makes me happy too!

Pumpkinforever · 21/06/2025 10:22

I very rarely treated myself to anything @flametrees other than hairdressers pre-MJ as I was always busy with career and child/DH wangling.

So new treats since MJ have included stuff such as Trinny London Elevate stuff, a Sarah Chapman neck roller. And I need to make a decision between gym membership or a PVOLVE set. Also open to consider other things now such as Botox

Good luck with the Botox. I would have mine again. I went through a bit of a funny phase a couple of weeks in where I felt a paranoid about it and was over scrutinising myself in photos (I have slightly hooded eyes and Botox can make it worse initially). It also feels ‘different’ in the forehead area for a bit. But I’m more used to it now and it’s lasting really well (I think my practitioner used a lot! She wanted to minimise any eyelid drooping so did all 3 areas) (apparently this is a thing to balance it out). I was so surprised when I found out how many people have it!

I am also now on ‘team treat myself’, after years of what was probably self neglect.

I’m really loving the Trinny London products! I was happily using No 7 Protect & Perfect etc for years, and started incorporating their Lift & Luminate when it was on offer. Then a few months ago my skin started peeling (not like sunburn - more after when I would use a serum then a moisturiser, it would suddenly start peeling and I’d have to pretty much scrape it with my fingers). I didn’t know what the hell was going on and started blaming my cleanser, my LED mask etc. Finally realised it was definitely the No 7! Started using the Trinny Plump Up serum and Bounce Back moisturiser and it’s so much better, hardly ever happens now. I’m sold!

That's a good way of looking at it @Goldleafcat. If I think of all the years I have bought the absolute minimum number of cheap clothes to hide away in - the £400 I just spent online seems less guilt-inducing 😅.
