Welcome to thread 11 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!
Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we throw away the tent dresses, have no chub rub and wear ALL the damn shorts as we head towards Summer Holiday Season. 🙌

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and generally mutually admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W29 D5 and on my third 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 1.8lbs
GW 9st 13.9 (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 51.2 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Liberty have a nice Trinny box deal at the moment if anyone needs to treat themselves.
https://www.libertylondon.com/uk/the-founders-edit-by-trinny-woodall-000846027.html#pos=1

Went to the optician today and have ordered new glasses, my existing glasses really are too big now. I wasn’t due an eye test but asked for one anyway, one eye is better and the other worse so was worth doing before spending a fortune.

How is everyone managing with hydration in the heat? I admit eating is a little out the window. Trying to keep the fluids up but I really can forget for hours and hours.

@Mounjaropenbig congrats, green stats must be so satisfying. Well done for all your hard work may you have many skinny years ahead.

🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

IT HAS FINALLY HAPPENED..

Today, I am 9 stone 13.4lbs 💪

I have not been anything like this weight since the mid 1990’s.

Been struggling all week with not losing anything despite all the clean eating, exercise and general good behaviour so I had a couple of glasses of rose with DH and bingo!

TL on MJ so far 53.6lbs.

My fancy scales now have all my stats in Green. My BMI is 23.0. My muscle mass is up at 68.6%. My metabolic age is 2 years younger than my actual age.

Whikst in green, my BMR is average and my body fat seems higher than I’d like at 26.9% so I’m aiming for under 25% to achieve ‘fitness’ - ‘’athletic’ would be 21% which I am not 😂

Today has given me a real boost. I’m at a school reunion later which I most definitely would’ve declined this time last year…I am so thankful for MJ, my ability to afford it and the support from the lovely friends in my phone 🥰

Yay!!! Huge congratulations @Mounjaropen 🥳🥳🥳 Yet again, your tried and trusted method of a few glasses of rose does the job! 😂 Have an amazing time swishing around your reunion as a skinny minnie!

Amazing!! Well done!!! 🎉 Our stats journey is very similar, I was 14 st to start and am now 10 st 3, I’m too dreaming of the 9s! 🤞 enjoy your reunion 😀

StarShapedWindow · 21/06/2025 13:54

@Mounjaropen 🎉🎉🎉🎉 amazing!! Well done, you wanted to see that 9 so badly and now you can! Enjoy your reunion 🥳

@jay55 thank you so much for the Liberty link - I wanted to try those Trinny products and with that massive discount I had an excuse.

@flametrees I find coconut water extremely hydrating- I’m sure it doesn’t do anything more than water but I feel so hydrated after drinking it. Unfortunately I’m not someone who finds it hard to part with my cash so I’ve bought many clothes, many body firming oils/lotions and now I’ve bought the Liberty goody bag linked above 🫣

jay55 · 21/06/2025 14:08

I’m incredibly grateful I’m not lugging my old body around today.

While I’m still a red sweaty mess after a walk outside, I didn’t have to stop for breath or feel like I was dying pretty good considering I’m still obese.

(I used the 15% off discount code too so was £119!)

Wonderful news @Mounjaropen . I am particularly impressed by your fitness stats.

I am checking in today with a 50lb loss! 3lbs to go to a healthy BMI (10 st 3) but I think I would look better at 9 stone something ( last seen in the early 90s!)

50lbs! That's amazing!! 🥳🥳🥳

SerenePeer · 21/06/2025 17:02

flametrees · 21/06/2025 09:43

@Mounjaropenwell done. Envious as we had the same starting weight and height and I’m still at 10 stone 10. Got down to 10 stone 9 but I’m hovering here now for ages again
very frustrating.
exercise has been woeful as I was struck down with a UTI so need to get going again.

getting my first ever Botox this afternoon. Very nervous. My Dh is very against the idea saying it’s a slippery slope. Little does he know I’m also research getting a boob reduction!
up since 4 with my little dog as my bedroom was too hot for her. Will be a long day.

any tips for hydrating? I’m very dehydrated after my uti.

Top tip for helping botox last as long as possible - sleep on your back! I'm a side sleeper and my first few doses of botox lasted 3 - 4 months. My lovely aesthetician suggested I train myself to sleep on my back and it's doubled the length of time between treatments! I'm also trialling silicone patches - Wrinkle Shminkles- to try and keep the crows feet at bay.

I actually sleep on my front which is even worse. Face plant into the pillow. Dh bought me two lovely silk pillowcases which I still have it the boxes so going to take them out and use them. I’ll try to sleep on my back tonight. It’s so hot in my bedroom.

MagnoliaTreePetals · 21/06/2025 18:05

NSV, sorry if it's TMI, but no under sweat boobs. Ive been wearing swimming costume with a short skirt, sitting outside playing card games with DS. just gone in to change and no need to wipe down! Marvellous!!

LindtCurves · 22/06/2025 15:24

SerenePeer · 18/06/2025 08:31

Yes 100% - I had patches of hyperpigmentation on my right cheek and they've completely gone now. You have to be carefully and wear spf 50 daily, especially during treatment as your skin becomes sensitive to the sun . Then afterwards to prevent the hyperpigmentation returning. Dermatica also prescribe tret but they don't gradually increase the dose like Skin & Me. So although you get faster results, it can feel a bit harsh on your skin at the start.

Thanks!!

How long did it take you to get results with this treatment, I’m guessing 12ish weeks? Or longer?

LindtCurves · 22/06/2025 15:54

Been reading about the ‘Ozempic face’ today and how beauty professionals suggest to combat it. Got to be honest, I totally love my face post weight loss! The jawline especially, but really all of it, the cheekbones sticking out a little bit etc. How do others feel, anyone particularly happy/ unhappy?

Done a little experiment and come off the drug for a week to see what happens. My appetite hasn’t really changed, still no major interest in food/ junk food, don’t wake up starving etc. Not eaten more.

However I’ve gained 6lb over 2 weeks. It may seem more dramatic as last weigh-in was after holiday, and I lost 4lb on holiday, so body effectively bouncing back from a sudden loss. However, having come off, I’ve cumulatively only lost 1lb over 4 weeks.

Interesting…

I’ve also felt digestively a bit funny off the meds. While with MJ I feel amazing, high energy, and never get any stomach aches or even gas (regular feature in former life), off the meds I’ve been feeling some discomfort and quite gassy. I’ve eaten roughly the same diet as on MJ, diverse range of veg, lots of fibre etc

I’m back on now so look forward to feeling like myself again!

Anyone tried anything similar/ noticed anything?

I know you’re not supposed to come off suddenly so when I’m ready to fully come off (hoping September) I’ll dilute the doses down.

@LindtCurves i think ozempic face is just another stick to beat us with. I saw some old friends for the first time in years yesterday. They said I looked 10 years younger. Cheekbones rock!

PinkArt · 22/06/2025 16:23

Fat is a natural filler so it makes sense that some/ lots of us could look older with less fat faces. And if people lose too much weight, or lose too fast, that you could look a bit gaunt. But there is also the rediscovery of cheekbones and jawbones that have been in hibernation, neither of which is considered a bad thing in beauty terms!

MyRootinTootinBaby · 22/06/2025 16:27

I’ve actually just been looking at my fave in the mirror and while I’m happy with the losses, I think I prefer my pre-mj face. I’ve never had wrinkles or any movement on my forehead before, but now it creases when I raise my brows. Normal, I know, but I’ve never had it. I also think having a plumpness to my face makes me look more youthful beyond wrinkles. I don’t feel like I suit my new face shape yet. I’m waiting til I’m a bit closer to target, but I’m definitely going to get some Botox or fillers or something to plump my face up without plumping my stomach back up!

jay55 · 22/06/2025 16:39

@LindtCurvesit takes a good while for mj to exit us completely. Jab day for me is tomorrow, if I didn’t take any Shotsy estimates I’d have none left in me by 21/7.

I think digestive issues as the drug leaves sounds about right, as the slowdown will speed back up which will feel off and cause more wind etc.

MagnoliaTreePetals · 22/06/2025 16:49

I agree @LindtCurves , I am so happy now my face is slimmer. When I saw a photo of myself a few weeks ago, I thought Bloody Hell! I actually look younger! As that was a week after someone had said "don't lose any more, you will look gaunt" I was surprised, reassured and happy.
Maybe my wrinkles are more noticeable (mid 50's, their gonna be there somewhere), but as long as I don't put my glasses on when I look in the mirror, I won't see them! 😂
I've got the candlvwax/deflated balloon effect going on in a few places elsewhere, but I am more than happy that I feel and look younger.
I hope you feel back to your energetic self again soon.

@DarkForces yes, the joy of having cheekbones, jaw bone, even eye sockets, I can now find them all!

That's very interesting @jay55 , I hadn't thought of that. Something to remember when I (eventually) get to target and start titrating down the doses.
Has anyone else noticed that digestive effect when going down the doses or coming off it?

Interesting! Maybe you haven’t looked into it this deeply, but are we basically saying that the weight loss induced/ appetite suppressing hormones continue to be produced for up to 4 weeks?

I just found it so strange that even though I didn’t increase my eating at all, I gained so much weight in one week. But as mentioned, maybe it was a freak fluctuation due to huge holiday week loss.

I also feel like MJ makes me feel better overall, it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what it is. But my mood is extremely consistent, nothing irritates me at all, and physically I hardly get any ailments such as stomach aches - which used to be common for me before when eating pulses, beans and certain other foods. My skin is extremely clear and glowing, and I have more get-up-and-go in me (that was an early side effect), i follow through on all commitments etc.

Other people have mentioned better periods and other side effects.

Part of me wonders which of those will go once I come off the drug. Hopefully none! But I’m feeling physically and mentally better than I’ve ever felt and happily Jab rest of my life if that’s what it gives me.

That's so interesting @lindtcurves to be honest I'm a bit terrified about coming off. I've had quite a hungry week this week - not sure what's triggered it as I'm not due on (I don't think! I don't really have a cycle thanks to Mirena coil). But I didnt get my usual feeling cold last week, so I'm putting it down to maybe not doing my injection properly? I was using up a 7.5mg pen but dosing 10mg so it's very possible i miscounted my clicks

So anyway, not looking forward to coming off as I really enjoy the feeling of control and food neutrality I have with mj.

SerenePeer · 22/06/2025 19:27

On the subject of "ozempic face", I love my face at the moment. I have a jawline and cheekbones are starting to peel through...when I look back pre-MJ my face looks like a balloon! I used to blame my phone camera and refused to let anyone take a photo in landscape mode! It will be no surprise to any of you that the problem was not my phone...it was in fact my chubby face 🙈

I took a selfie today and went ‘oh hello hot stuff’ 🤣 Gotta be honest, I was worried about the face, because as they used to say, ‘you’ve got to choose, face or body’. Frankly I don’t think that’s true anymore with the skincare available today.

How do you feel about people saying ‘don’t lose any more’?

It annoys me to no end. I’m JUST below BMI 25 now and still have a flabby belly etc, I’m not skinny by any imagination. I’ve just realised that in my family there’s a cult of encouraging being overweight, everyone is slightly chubby and being fit and in shape is considered ‘extreme’. Only 2 cousins are not overweight and they’re quite distant from the family so I imagine they get similar ‘feedback’. Don’t get me wrong, we aren’t a clan of the morbidly obese, but nobody is very fit, probably hovering between sizes 14-18.

How often are people going to see you with much skin on show in the main candle wax areas though? I’ve got that going on as well though, and have embraced strength training/ growing muscle mass, which seems to have an effect.

"Don't lose any more" is super annoying. I've had the same from a few people, and all of it when I just entered healthy BMI territory. Also, it always came from very skinny people. I'm sure they are just trying to say that we look great now, but it's still such an annoying comment!

My flabby belly will remain well hidden, so doesn't bother me much. But I tried on some shorts today that were an unfortunate cut, so I could see the flabby melted candle inner thigh situation that I've suddenly got... I really need to start exercising regularly, although I am not hopeful that the thigh situation will improve a lot...

LindtCurves · 22/06/2025 20:16

@KentishMama I used to think that people didn’t comment on others’ weight to their face anymore but apparently you and me have experienced different!

Not many others have, eg nobody from my friends, but family have special rights apparently 😄

You’re right be annoyed. Do you think it’s jealousy? Something else?

Some heavy weights may help with that, while I have some way to go, I like seeing a little thigh and arm muscle peeking out from beneath the candle wax, and it’s only been about 4 weeks.
