Welcome to thread 11 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!
Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we throw away the tent dresses, have no chub rub and wear ALL the damn shorts as we head towards Summer Holiday Season. 🙌

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and generally mutually admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W29 D5 and on my third 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 1.8lbs
GW 9st 13.9 (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 51.2 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Are you on HRT? Pigmentation is yet another side effect of the menopause sadly…also occurs during pregnancy for some women.

Rotten luck that it has happened tho.

I’m not on HRT - I’m 41 and I don’t think I’m in peri yet. Doesn’t bode well for when I actually do go into it, though!

OliviaFlaversham · 15/06/2025 14:21

Start: 2/11/25 23 stone BMI 50.4
Now: 15/6/25 15 stone 3.5 pounds BMI 33.5
Dosage: 15mg

Didn’t stick to eating well over Christmas or Easter and it showed. Tried two months on 10mg but the second month was not as successful and was so hungry!

No bum - empty sacks in its place. Very odd as it seemed to suddenly disappear and I’ve always had an enormous one!

Just under 3 stone 13 to target.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 15/06/2025 14:23

Wow, @OliviaFlaversham, those are some incredibly impressive numbers!

Wow!! Your progress is incredible! 🎉

I’ve got one more 12.5mg pen then I’m moving up to 15mg. Please could I ask how you’ve found the 15mg?

Pumpkinforever · 15/06/2025 16:46

I have 2 stone to go to get my BMI under 25. Seriously considering moving up to 10mg for a few months to see if that will be enough to give me a boost. I would love to be on target for our November birthday.

Got a 7.5mg in fridge to use first

MyRootinTootinBaby · 15/06/2025 18:49

I feel bad as today my parents asked how I was losing weight and I told them I was just calorie counting, and my dad started saying he needed to lose weight. I don’t know if I should have just told them the truth, but I haven’t up til now and now feel I’m too far into the lie; I don’t feel like I can ever admit to using MJ as then I’m admitting to lying about it. I’m not embarrassed to be on it, and I don’t think they’d judge me, I just wanted to keep it to myself to begin with. But like I say, I now feel like I can’t say I’m on it as I don’t want to say I’ve lied. I hate lying to my parents though, and if they’re talking about losing weight and wanting help, it seems harsher not to tell them. 😭😢

Thanks and to @TooExtraImmatureCheddar. 12.5-15 was the least noticeable I found. I thought 7.5-10 was a jump (and had morning nausea) but the others less so. I would have stayed on 12.5 but I lost the least amount on it and didn’t want to run the risk of how I found doing two months on 10 (soooo hungry).

I just roasted two flat mushrooms with onion and garlic and had them with a third of a block of halloumi and a dollop of humous and feel very full. I avoid pasta/bread etc as I rarely lose weight when I eat them and I just don’t think they suit me.

Periods all over the place.

Congrats to those crossing the new stone barrier.

After a couple of weeks of not eating properly, I’ve a fridge full of chicken, fish, fruit and salad. Making an effort to eat and am feeling more positive.

Had a g&t last night at the theatre (Evita with Rachel Zegler, she’s amazing, and does 90% of the show in a bra and shorts) and it didn’t affect me like the last time I had one, and the scales shifted this morning. Whoop.

Of the 5 new dresses I’ve bought 4 fit well and one is too tight on the hips. I’ve until September to slim into it. So that’s my current goal.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine less red faced and out of breath than in the past.

Ooh Rachel Zegler has had rave reviews for Evita! Glad you enjoyed it.

💪 for all the good food and fitting into the last dress

I should have done that, but I binned the pen last week. Though I could do this pen for 4 weeks and then use the golden dose on week 5, then crack open a new pen on my return. I could continue doing 6mg and therefore stretch the pen out to 5 weeks, but I do feel ready to step up to 7.5. Although then it’s less of a step down to 0. I don’t know whether to go completely cold turkey on holiday, or whether to take the pen and drop down to 2.5. Though I’d rather not be trying to keep it cool, or having to think about it tbh.

I think I’d go with your first suggestion. The pen only has to be cool until you first use it. You could buy the cool pouch and then take the new pen with you?

I do know you’re supposed to wear SPF, but it makes my face greasy and my mascara smudge, and it seems silly to bother with it in the dead of winter when I’m arriving at work in the dark, leaving in the dark and maybe getting 15 mins of daylight popping out for a sandwich at lunchtime! However, I will do better with the SPF. Off to research vit C products - thanks, @Mounjaropen! I think I need a new facial SPF and the vit C (but not the £165 one, sadly!).

Superfacialist do a nice moisturiser with spf15 which I use in winter. It does take trial and error to find the right spf to work with make up, but there are powders and sprays which go on last if you are struggling. I honestly think SPF every day has been the difference in my fine lines staying at the level they were at and not worsening.

Vit c is very unstable and oxidises rapidly which reduces its efficacy so don’t buy anything in a large size. I like the oskia capsules for this reason but they are ££’s unfortunately so I buy wherever there is a deal.

I think it is acceptable to keep medical information to yourself. I had my first ‘I hope you’re not doing those skinny jabs’ on Saturday from an old friend asking what I’ve been doing… clearly didn’t want to know, was just fishing, so I didn’t say anything. Your mum and dad might worry if they know you’ve been on MJ. It’s also possible that they might also not be eligible to use the meds if they are struggling with weight loss themselves so I’d stop feeling guilty. They are also your mum and dad so will understand if you do eventually tell them. It is all your choice.

Life is hard enough so put it to the back of your mind. All adults have access to the same amount of information - they could also make an informed decision to take MJ just like you did!

Oh the irony. After being glum with my 0.4lb loss, I had a long work day and the (healthy) fish curry I’d intended to cook was jettisoned for fish and chips from the chippy, and a ridiculous amount of prosecco.

Didn’t weigh myself first thing (scared) but decided to bite the bullet to assess the damage before a nice hot bath, and even though I’ve had water, coffee and some breakfast I’m somehow 1.4lbs lighter than yesterday morning 🤣

The 4 stone loss klaxon is sounding!

Well done @Goldleafcat 🥳🥳🥳 That's brilliant!! Did you ever think you'd lose 4 stone when you started back in November? It blows my mind we've all lost so much!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 14/06/2025 18:02

Skincare question, o lovely friends in my phone! Does anyone know what to do about dark pigmentation on the face? I’m reasonably fair skinned (mousy hair/greenish eyes) and after my holiday I’ve developed dark patches on my cheekbones, forehead and on either side of my mouth despite wearing factor 50 on my face the entire holiday. However, I don’t wear SPF religiously in this country unless it’s properly sunny, because I live in Scotland and it rains a lot. Google is suggesting hyaluronic acid, but that scares me in case it makes me more prone to sun damage. What should I do to get rid of them? I can start wearing SPF a lot more, but I don’t know if that’ll work if wearing factor 50 didn’t.

I used Skin & Me tretinoin treatment to sort out my hyoerpigmenetation. I think they usually have an offer on - £4.99 for your first month.

As for SPF I wear Beauty Pie facial SPF every day. It's mattifying and doesnt cause my make up to bobble and doesnt feel greasy either.

SerenePeer · 16/06/2025 08:29

Happy Monday team! I've been inadvertently awol again but trying to catch up with all the lovely losses and 4 stone klaxons!

Checking in with my progress:
SW 15 stone 1 lbs
CW 11 stone 10lbs
GW 11 stone 4? Dare I aim for 10 stone something?

Like many of you, had a glut of people suddenly asking what my secret is. No chance I'd ever tell my very overweight, very judgy MIL about the jabs - I just told her I was using a smaller plate and walking more. Two colleagues keeps asking too. One isn't overweight at all. She's maybe 5lbs heavier than she wants to be but probably still safely inside the healthy BMI range. The other one is very overweight but I'm not inclined to tell her either. I do feel a bit bad lying through omission and if she asked me directly and told me she was thinking about starting the jabs, I might share....but probably not. Still feel it's nobodies business!

I'm in that funny stage of all my smaller clothes (small 14s) starting to look a bit rubbish - too baggy and droopy. I reckon I'm a solid size 12 now and can confidently order a medium size online and know it will fit me. I did try size 10 denim shorts last week - they fit but not well. Still too much belly for size 10 in that style! But I'm chuffed they zipped up without any effort! I've ordered some bits from Cos/H&M to tide me over - for the first time ever I'm actually looking for nice sleeveless tops and strappy dresses!

jay55 · 16/06/2025 09:50

I’m barely down half a kilo this week. I was really hoping for an overnight whoosh as a lot exited my body yesterday.
Maybe tomorrow.
Day three of a fibre filled breakfast, hadn’t been eating breakfast at all, usually not hungry til lunch but with the super suppression on 10mg I need to get my calories up and as my fibre has been lacking makes sense to add breakfast and there’s so much great fruit in season now.

I sent a pic of myself in a new dress to my aunts this weekend and they’re both delighted with the change. They both know I’m on the jabs, having no immediate family I felt for safety someone needed to know and they’ve both been great and encouraging about it, despite being two of the thin members of the family.

Im still marvelling at the reduction in sweat in this heat.

Have a great week all.

evilharpy · 16/06/2025 11:33

No loss for me this week, bah!

Was it you @Mounjaropenthat was diagnosed with BPPV? I’ve suddenly started feeling dizzy and lightheaded and wondered what your symptoms were and how you got it diagnosed.

It was - my symptoms were light headedness when rising on a side plane (so getting my head off the pillow, exercises where I would have to lean from side to side). GP diagnosed it after doing a series of neuro function tests plus all of the usual monitoring during the appt (BP etc) I was given exercises to do which I will confess I did not do much of but it cleared itself after a couple of weeks.

Thanks. That sounds very much how my vertigo presented last time. And it feels like it’s starting again. I’m going to book a gp appointment in the morning when the e-consult opens again. I feel dreadful today. I thought HRT resolved it but I’m still taking that.

Well done @Goldleafcat 🥳🥳🥳 That's brilliant!! Did you ever think you'd lose 4 stone when you started back in November? It blows my mind we've all lost so much!

It’s crazy isn’t it! I had a very faint hope I’d be somewhere towards this point by July (to be somewhere closer to the same as I was when I turned 40) but even in January I thought it would be unrealistic, and yet, somehow I’ve already done it!

I’m in a bit of a weird space where I’m half acknowledging it but half not, I think I have my eye on the long game and after being here previously and things sliding back the wrong way (slowly, at least until last year), I’m nervous to celebrate. I have however gotten some new bits and pieces to wear (outside of the vinted world) which feels lovely (and I’m absolutely loving some of the vinted things I’ve gotten, including some lovely new and almost new Boden Breton tops, I don’t care if it’s not fashionable anymore or not, I used to avoid stripes but now I’m excited to wear them aha!).

Cantbesure · 16/06/2025 21:03

@TooExtraImmatureCheddar I have hyperpigmentation too. I’m using tretonoin from a link on this thread, cerave vit c serum which is in a metal tube to reduce oxidisation, cerave moisturiser with spf 50 and nivea q10 spf.

I've used Caudalie Vinoperfect when I had some small dark areas on my face and it did get rid of them, you could look at reviews - it's a product which is used very widely so I'm sure there's lots of info out there.
