Welcome to thread 11 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!
Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we throw away the tent dresses, have no chub rub and wear ALL the damn shorts as we head towards Summer Holiday Season. 🙌

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and generally mutually admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W29 D5 and on my third 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 1.8lbs
GW 9st 13.9 (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 51.2 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Thank you all.

I’ve just seen my fb memories from June 2019 when I took my dc to a spice girls concert (I’m so cool 😆). I was wearing a dress that I remember loving and it was my “skinny girl dress” that I bought a size 10 and it actually fitted. That was when I was running and training for a half marathon. I checked my weight for June 2019 and it fluctuated from 9st12 to 10st 2… I wonder if the dress would fit me at 10st 3 🤔 Maybe something to try over the weekend.

Try the dress! Let us know!

Hope all is well at home x

Definitely try the dress @TeenLifeMum. I have a French connection little black dress that’s in a Vinted pile somewhere. It was a bit tight before I hit 40 when I was half marathon training. I wonder if it will fit my 52 year old MJ self 😂

Just back from running club and just shy of 7.5k. Failed at a home yoga session earlier though. The bending forward made me feel very dizzy and nauseous. I think I might need to see the GP to check my BP which was on the low end of normal a few weeks back .

ive not decided whether to titrate down with tomorrow’s dose. I did hit target this week but bounced around a pound or so over the week. That’s maintenance really isn’t it, but I don’t intend to stay on 10mg if I don’t have to.

Edited

Congratulations on the running! Hope you feel better today?

I’ve had similar thoughts about the hair loss too!

I’ve been blaming MJ (and there is probably some truth in this) but I’ve definitely noticed more and more peri menopausal symptoms this year, and so many people comment on hair loss being a big symptom on the fb groups / Reddit communities I’ve joined.

So I started HRT on Saturday (eek! Going ok so far, not sure I’ve noticed any general changes as yet).

From this group and others another factor is whether you are getting enough protein. I’ve been really up and down with it and I’ve had to give myself a big kick up the bum (carefully avoiding the HRT patch) and start planning better so I actually have protein available to eat (especially when I’m not feeling that hungry, or am really busy with work).

my experience was that it took a good three months before I felt back to my old self, so make sure you give it plenty of time.

@TeenLifeMum just definitely try it on. sorry about your dog

@Goldleafcat the HRT patches really helped me but I stopped after a break out bleed after a breakout bleed in April. I am tempted though just to finish the 2 months I have, dr did say I could continue.

I am another pound down 💪🏻. 4lbs to go before I am overweight and then I will set next goals.

Another pound is fab! Well done!

I had a couple of breakout bleeds also, but after a thorough investigation was given the all clear by the consultant who said it was most likely stress related (it was at the point where we had our parents dying) it is always important to get them checked out though.

Oh I didn’t know that about the protein powder. I bought some on offer a while back but haven’t used any yet (a MyProtein one). I do have some protein sachets from Willpowders (I got a ‘stash tin’ on offer for £11 which has a selection of their different products), vanilla flavour and milk chocolate - you mix with 300ml milk or water… apparently made with bone broth? Not tried them yet either though!

(I think quite a few of the products are pretty good but I’m not on board with all the things Davinia suggests etc) (I’m a member of a group on fb with useful tips but some members are a bit wild on the clean eating front!) (good for them, I’m not as committed!).

Yes Davina is useful for posting towards organic products, but in general she is a bit tinfoil hat for me about a number of things especially as in my opinion, reading a book does not make you an expert and your resultant ‘advice’ should definitely carry a caveat..!

I've been sucking down a sachet of Absolute Collagen's mango and mandarin flavoured marine collagen a day. I have almost convinced myself that fish goo overlaid with citrus flavouring is delicious. I'm not sure whether it's actually doing any good or not - my knees feel better but I have also lost 3 stone and done a lot of exercise so who knows?

I’ve actually started look forward to mine each day 😂 my opinion is that you can’t hurt taking it, my nails and hair have definitely improved. However, I agree that being 52lbs lighter and improving my mobility are almost certainly likely to be the major factor in less hurty joints!

Just picked up two Joules jackets I got on vinted (I know, I know, intervention may be required soon) which are a size 16. If anything, they are a bit big!! 😱

In other news I have booked a maintenance appointment with Oushk for September. Not sure I’ll be quite anywhere near there by then but suddenly feeling like my body is getting back into the zone a bit and had a mild panic in case they won’t accept me for having too low a BMi (very unlikely this’ll be the case, and picturing myself stuffing KFC and Big Macs ahead of the appointment if that came to be)

Meeting a friend for a couple of drinks this evening. She doesn’t know I’m on the jabs, wondering whether to say anything or not. Have lost quite a bit since I last saw her. She is the one who has been a bit odd about weight loss in the past (and recommended I get rid of most of my ‘thinner’ clothes). She has had fluctuating weight over the years (and when she goes all in on the weight loss it’s all she talks about, calories this, my fitness pal that etc).

Maybe I’ll just confess to the Botox and that’ll distract her. It’s a tricky one isn’t it.

I hope you’re also selling on Vinted!😂

@Goldleafcat I did tell one friend I wasn’t sure of and she was a bit shocked but then she messaged me to ask where I got it from and how much 😂 she isn’t big enough to be eligible though I don’t think. But my general rule is only to tell people I’m comfortable with knowing. My adult DD is on it though and outed me to loads of people as she’s not been shy about it 😂

I’ve hadexactly this 😂

I agree that Spatone is brilliant, @Cantbesure and it doesn't cause the constipation that other iron supplements can cause.
I usually take mine in a small glass of orange juice as one needs vitamin C to absorb the iron. I take it for a couple of weeks when I start to feel a bit run down.

My hair has often gone through stages of falling out, usually after intense stress or a bad virus. Most recently, after I had Covid in 2021 It fell out in handfuls. Very distressing as Ive always thought my long wavy hair was my best feature, and my best feature was now lying on the bathroom/bedroom/kitchen floor (poor hoover).
I was recommended the Revive collagen by a dermatologist for skin healing. I have had a strong dose of covid again since then, the stress of moving house and of course months of MJ, but have not lost anymore hair than normal. I am sure the collagen has helped.

I also take Symprove everyday to help boost my gut flora and immune system.
Trying to stay healthy is not cheap!
I explained to DH that as I can't use expensive face creams due to allergies, I am allowed the Revive collagen and Symprove instead!

Bit nervous about weighing in tomorrow as I am at the point where I have plateaued and stalled previously..... It's the fear of yet another failure, (yet I do actually I have confidence in MJ and what I can ultimately achieve..... such mixed up thoughts)
I injected this morning and am waiting for it to 'kick in', the anxiety about weighing in is making me feel like turning to food, so I am sitting as far away from the kitchen as possible and have just painted my nails so I can't eat, all I can do is type!

Genius food distraction technique 😂🙌

morning everyone,

Weekly weigh in on 3.75 dose..
week 29

SW 18st 4.3lbs
CW 15 stone 2lbs
2 lb loss this week
total loss so far 3 stone 2.3 lbs
I have lost 17% of my starting weight
SBMI 43
CBMI 36.3

Achievements this week ….
This was my first week going up to 3.75mg.
My mood has been low and I had 2 afternoons this week where I was completely washed out and went to bed for power naps lasting over 2 hours. My steps are down, haven’t reached my 10k a day to 69,623 steps achieved this week.

Well done to everyone on the great losses and to those that have reached maintenance stage, we can do this. 💪

Edited

2lbs is awesome at this stage! 👏👏👏

May I join your lovely group? Full disclosure I am a June starter (week 2 to be precise) but there is so much wisdom on this thread. I have already shared your great idea for Me360 on the June thread for instance.
I have a question though, I am keen to try and head off candle legs and arms as I see you all call them Confused I’m taking collagen powder and doing some weights but I wonder if anyone tried retinol for body skin and if so is there any recommendations for large products that are still effective / strong enough. I do have loads of skinsndme that I probably could use up but ultimately that would work out v expensive.

Be careful joining up @MontysMum909 with us before you know it you will be signing up for not only supplements and collage but for Sarah Chapman stuff, Trinny London (her elevator cream for the neck is great), PVOLVE or other gym stuff, LED face masks and what not. We are not a cheap group 😂

I am moisturising after every shower with tons of Aveeno body cream to help with the candles. And use arm weights to exercise daily (another purchase linked to the November 24 Spenders). Oh and booking my maintenance call well in advance but worth the £5 to do so.

Hello Everyone.

Great achievements @lovealongbath, despite you not being able to do as much movement this week. I'm sorry the increase in dose has made you low in mood and energy. I hope the satisfaction of a 2lb loss (=4 slabs of butter banished away), has compensated a little.

Congratulations @MontyJinks 4 stone is phenomenal! 👏👏👏

Just started my 8th week on 10mg

SW 16.5
CW 12.7.5
Loss this week 1.5lb
Total loss 3 stone 11.5
GW 11.10
SBMI 33
CBMI 26.6

So my anxiety yesterday about possibly maintaining/stalling was totally uncalled for! History does not have to repeat itself and I need to learn to chill out more.

NSV. I need new knickers! Strangely, having gone down from a dress size 20 to 14/16, My knickers seem to have slimmed with me and continued to fit. However putting them on this morning I realised that they were suddenly a bit loosy-goosy and I need to buy some more before they decide to fly at half mast. Double win as I managed to use loyalty vouchers to buy them, so I don't feel like I have spent any money. 😁

I have spent money today on the Nioxin shampoo & treatment that was kindly recommended upthread. Going to start tomorrow - so have until mid-July (my son's graduation) to see if it might help my very thin hair.

Re: skin - I can honestly say I’ve done as much as I can but I’m in my 50’s and have been overweight for 20 years following pregnancy so the chances of my skin snapping back were slim…. I think it all depends on age, diet, exercise and genes how your body will fare. Make sure your protein intake is at least 1g per kg of body weight, water intake is good etc. and as much toning exercises as you can!

I am trying to eat a huge amount of protein. I’m hoping that will help my muscle mass, but it is nice to know it might help the hair loss!!! I haven’t tried HRT. My symptoms haven’t been too impactful up to now, but if the little ones start to combine I might need to think about it. I was told years ago (10 years ago) that I wouldn’t be able to take it because I had a terrible reaction to the mini pill. But I guess things may have developed since then.I’m interested to know how your HRT journey goes!

lovealongbath · 13/06/2025 05:42

random223 · 12/06/2025 22:48

I think so - shampoo, conditioner and treatment

Perfect!

When you use cleanser, only 1 shampoo.
Scalp therapy, is for the scalp! Do not apply it like a conditioner to your hair. Leave it on for a few minutes, it will tingle. Any residue when rinsing will run through your hair so give a conditioning effect.
The treatment, put the end of the nozzle to scalp and press to release liquid and move nozzle across scalp at same time so your spreading the liquid rather than jet spraying one area. I would recommend 3-4 presses of nozzle in total across the worst effected area, So if it’s the top area, go across the top area then let the liquid naturally run down the sides and back.

A little goes a long way, don’t go crazy.
