Everyone just hates fat people

Yes I'm fat and yes I'm taking the WLI.

I've had it out with a friend of a friend during a catch up dinner yesterday and I'm fuming.

I've lost some weight and still have a good 5 or so stone more to go before I'm anywhere near the 'normal' BMI category. So no, I'm not wasting away or disappearing, or losing weight too fast.

The mistake I made was being honest about the jabs. But I stand by it, I think it's important to get healthy, regardless of how you do it, just get there.

ANYWAY, this person has suddenly decided to feel concerned for my health, now that the loss has become noticeable. With some silent nods from others about how you should 'just eat less and move more'. No shit is that what was supposed to do?!

A big discussion about:
just have willpower
just have smaller portions
do it the normal way, you don't know what you're putting into your body
it's not healthy
just put down the fork
it's about dicipline
it's not really losing weight though, is it (huhh??)
it's more rewarding to do it the normal way so you can feel achievement

It's gotten me thinking of how so many people just hate fat people. You want us to pay for being fat, to suffer at the gym doing workouts we don't like or can't do with joint pain and back pain etc. You want us to 'just have willpower' like it's that easy. You want us to try all the diets and fail so you can feel superior with your 'discipline' and that you 'look after your body'.

You hate the fact that these WLI have levelled the playing field.

I said all this yesterday and it became very frosty. These aren't my friends, I was there for the birthday girl, but I won't sit there and take it.

I'm posting because I'd love to hear what you might have heard when talking about WLI. (Or if anyone agrees with the above 🤔)

This is what’s so annoying! Fat people think thin people are just naturally thin! No. It is years of discipline, painful exercise, missing out on cake you wanted to eat but knew you shouldn’t! I have constant food noise, hunger pangs etc I’d be surprised if you could find someone who didn’t!

Then you fat people are coming along and getting the same results without going through the struggle! I’m not against the injections, I just think they should be available to everyone. Why should one group continue to suffer pain while the other gets an easy, painless solution? Particularly after experiencing years of indulgence in food that thin people have missed out on.

No one thinks that. I was thin and really fit for years and it did take work and abstaining. I agree I think they should be available to everyone and if the benefits are continued to be seen I think for anyone overweight or struggling with food noise should have them.

TheBossOfMe · 12/05/2025 22:08

@DurbevillesGirl2 I don't think most thin people do have constant hunger pangs, food noise etc. I've been slim for most of my life and never experienced any of that. I had to remind myself to eat for years and years. That's not a virtue. It's just my particular biology combined with a very active lifestyle until an injury.

PermanentTemporary · 12/05/2025 22:11

I thought I wouldn't tell anyone but I also didn't want other people to think I'd done it without help. But yes if it's people I don't give a crap about I just nod and smile through the diatribe. Tbh I still expect that the side effects will turn out to be so bad that they get banned - I just hope not for a while.

It's a struggle and it's not painless.

Inthebleakmidwinter1 · 12/05/2025 22:19

Yes society hates fatties. Vehemently! I’ve just had a fish and chip supper with my mother in law. I’ve been subjected to declarations of how filling this meal is after about 6 mouthfuls. I’ve been forced to agree that this meal is indeed very filling even after I’ve tried to politely ignore her a few times. Then I’ve been forced to listen to her saying she will need to run around the block several times to ‘work it off’. She is naturally super lean and has never been overweight in her life so she actually she thinks I should run around then block after eating fish and chips. Finally I’ve had to agree that after such a big meal I probably won’t need to eat breakfast. All this because I am fat. Luckily fat people are some of the nicest sweetest people you will ever meet and I’ve decided not to stove her head in. You will never win so stop caring! It’s the only option!

Type in the dangers of mounjaro and there's many. You all should really research the dangers of it. Seriously. I'd rather be fat and keep trying diets( I am overweight)

How about these side effects? Would you take a drug that risked these pretty serious side effects?......

(Answer: almost certainly you would because it's ibuprofen. All drugs have side effects)

Everyone just hates fat people

If anyone wants to be on prescription medication for obesity, all they need to do is become obese. Nothing stopping you do that, surely. Enjoy that indulgence, enjoy the risks to your health, enjoy all the judgement and then enjoy paying £150 a month to stop it all.

Are your posts satire? Genuinely struggling to tell because if not then they are very unintentionally funny.

Food “noise”? Hunger pangs?

You genuinely don’t understand that people have different builds and some people are naturally slim, have fast metabolisms and have never had issues with weight and eat whatever they feel like? We’re not “missing out” on anything. We don’t “suffer pain” to be slim 😆 and you’re bonkers if you think that is the case. For some of us it’s just our natural build.

Your posts are dripping with this weird and nasty jealousy as though being slim is some kind of competition rather than just a healthy state that surely we would wish for all of our fellow humans. Why does it impact you if someone else manages to achieve a healthy weight, by whatever means? Why would you resent this? How does someone else’s weight affect you?

I think you clearly have some very serious issues around food and body image so rather than being furious with other people who are trying to improve their physical health and you somehow viewing this as detrimental to you, you’d be better off dealing with your mental health issues with some targeted treatment for your approach to this whole topic which is quite disturbing to read and really is not within the realms of normal.

Exactly this. This is exactly the reason why slim people believe that being slim has to be earned and "struggled for".

Why? Just because you struggle every day? Surely that's your own problem, maybe if you had more willpower you wouldn't struggle as much. If you keep saying no and have the discipline, it will get easier to say no overtime that you won't even think about it. You will get used to it.

Yes, this is what fat people hear all the time.

You do you OP. If it's working for you, I wouldn't bother getting into discussions with some people. Some people just have an issue with anyone doing anything. I'm not overweight. I gym and run a lot. But....I've had some fascinating conversations with a few people taking the jabs and doing really well. We're not all the same and we don't do things the same way and that's ok. I listened to a diary of a CEO podcast the other week on the meds and it was very interesting. I would like to know more about the long term effects and what happens when you stop taking it but that's because I find it interesting not because I want to bash people with my opinion. Good luck for continued progress OP ☺️

Years of indulgence yes, and equally years of self hated, low self esteem, no confidence, missing out on going places and certain activities, maybe even relationships etc. Just let people be happy at last without spreading your bad vibes.

AlrightTrouble · 12/05/2025 23:04

@JosephsCoatI agree, I think with further research this could be a real game changer for some of these issues.

I’ve maintained a size 6/8 figure my whole life, so I don’t think I’m the one who needs more willpower.

My view is based on my experiences of being slim and yours are based on your own. They are not the same evidently. Why are you so invested in my posts?

Editing to add and where have I said I am furious? I support weight loss injections, I just think they should be more widely available to the whole population.

Again, in the kindest possible way (which you’ve not extended to the people on this thread that you’ve been quite unpleasant to who are simply trying to improve their own health), I don’t think your size is something to boast about given that you clearly have a very unhealthy relationship with food and body image that indicates the need for mental health treatment. It would be better to pursue that so that you can be happier with yourself and stop comparing yourself to others based on their weight or thinking that this has some kind of intrinsic or moral value.

I’ve not been unpleasant, you’ve been unpleasant to me. I’m not mentally unwell and you’re being very rude. Your obsession with tearing me down really indicates the need for your own mental health treatment.

EllasNonny · 12/05/2025 23:22

You're right, whether anyone may be honestly concerned for you, you clearly aren't interested in opposing views because you think they come from a position of hate.

I'm the thinnest person I know (due to illness) and believe me I wouldn't wish my look on anyone. I get and give support to those I love. Do you really think all thin people want to act as gatekeepers and keep a healthy BMI as the preserve of those who deny themselves to be so? That's weird to me.

AmythestBangle · 12/05/2025 23:23

I just don't understand why people who are not doctors have views on other people taking prescribed chronic medication for a chronic disorder. Do you do the same for diabetes/hypertension/hypercholesterolaemia/hypothyroidism/angina etc etc?

You didn’t need to say that you were furious. People generally don’t announce it, it’s simply apparent.

I am not “invested” in your posts. I have observed, as have many others, that your assertions have been unpleasant, irrational, and noted that they are indicative of a very unhealthy relationship with food and body image. Addressing this with a therapist would almost certainly make you happier than resenting obese people for receiving medical treatment because you think it’s “unfair”.

No, its people across the board really. I work in a role where I meet a lot of people everyday, and I get comments at least once a week. I’m honestly not that thin looking. I just find it weird, that anyone thinks they can comment on the weight of anyone tbh.

I agree. I presume it’s the same crowd that turn up regularly to regale us all with their uneducated “opinions” about autism and expect us all to be fascinated and treat their “opinions” as having parity with those of neurologists. 😆 Why they think anybody would be interested in their comically ignorant views on other people’s medical conditions or treatment is unfathomable. What next? A thesis on theoretical physics and rubbishing Hawking and Einstein? Perhaps next week we’ll be treated to a symphony that will blow Mozart out of the water.
