Welcome to thread 10 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we’ve successfully navigated Easter and head towards Summer Holiday Season. Stop here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W25 D1 and on my second 7.5mg pen

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 9lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 44lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Another stone off should see me in a healthy BMI and then another one after that will put me bang in the middle of my healthy range. It actually feels very doable thanks to mj although my weight loss is slower than I'd like it's coming off but by bit. I've celebrated hitting 11 stone with a new dress and a 9 mile walk. Treated myself to a small glass of wine to celebrate the bank holiday hike

🥳 9 miles! Wowee!

Hope you enjoyed the wine!

Feeling quite sorry for myself, my bad has been getting worse since Friday and it’s now pretty dreadful. Seems to be a combo of lower back pain and sciatica (pain running down the leg but the lower back is the worst). Managed to get out for a bit yesterday in the sun at a National Trust place but could barely walk by the end of it. Remembered this morning that I have some private medical coverage which supports back problems so am going to ring them tomorrow. Have made notes of all my recent episodes and it’s definitely getting more frequent.

Am due to jab today but not sure whether I’m brave enough with everything else going on!

You poor thing! Hope you feel better soon. 💐

Weekly update, end of week 22, 5mg…… I have lost 2lb and hit my 4 stone loss… really pleased, long way to go still but I know I will get there.

Have a great week everyone x

Cantbesure · 06/05/2025 09:34

wow - 4 stone rosette 🏵️ @BagQueenBee well done!

Sorry to hear you are struggling so much with your back @Goldleafcat I hope you can find some relief.

My Weight has gone back to 116.4 lbs today despite more food and drink this weekend. I think the inordinate number of steps must have helped! I need to try and keep it up.

Yesterday was jab 24, my 3rd 10mg dose and overall loss of 30.6lbs. I’m 4.4lbs away from my new target.

jay55 · 06/05/2025 09:53

Stayed the same again. Ugh. I’ve gained and lost 1.5kg over the week, every week the last 3 weeks. So annoying.
Did my final 7.5 yesterday and jabbed in my thigh again, so far no major wind issues today so that’s a result.
Booked a holiday for September, and booked a long for me walking excursion as part of it. Giving me something to aim for. Really hope to be at least just overweight by then.

Well done to everyone surviving death by jab, hitting big milestones and tiny clothes sizes.

Sending healing vibes for the back pain.

Back down to 10st 4 and staying there so this will the plan is for that to move downwards. 1lb will be fine - slow is okay. I’ve told dh i need one more pen after this one then I’ll have to go it alone.

Mounjaropen · 06/05/2025 11:03

👏Well done!

I've had a salutary lesson in not eating and drinking whatever I fancy over the long weekend with zero meaningful exercise... Weighed 144.2 on Sunday morning... weigh 148.0lbs this morning....😥 Although much fun was had, I am annoyed with myself that this week will be spent chasing down what I had already achieved last week and that will not help me achieve my goal of getting to the 9's by my big fat greek holiday!

Lesson to self - you don't need umpteen glasses of wine!

Well that's great that you have a plan! I have ordered my last pen with MedExpress (I had £80 referral credit) and then I will move over to maintenance with Oushk. I am a bit annoyed with MedExpress - they sent out a 'get 15% off your next order' email but apparently you can't use it on WLI. I have sent them an email explaining that I thought that was a bit disingenuous to say the least...

Thanks for the well wishes for my back, I have a call with Aviva later and I’m going to try the GP again (no emergency appointments this morning but may have some this afternoon).

This morning was a bit of a shit show 🫣. DH left for work despite me saying it was worse this morning so I had to try to coral my 3 year old to get ready for nursery, I took an age to get anything done and then he threw his shoes under the sofa which I took about 20 minutes to retrieve. Ended up calling DH in tears and he came back home to finally help (after me struggling to get DS to the car and physically to the nursery car park). DS also literally threw his dummy under the car which I had to retrieve. Not even showered yet. Left leg did not like clutch activity at all 😬

Still, DH is now home today and can help me. I have better range of movement now (may have gone a tad OTT with ibuprofen gel and tablets) so fingers crossed can get something sorted soon.

jay55 · 06/05/2025 11:56

@Goldleafcatget yourself a grabber to help with retrieval of things out of reach. I wouldn’t have been without mine when my flexibility went.
And sorry you had such a trying morning.

So sorry to hear it’s worse today. As I’ve said on many occasions, when I come back in the next life, I’m gonna come back as a man because sure is shit if it was your DH’s back up he probably wouldn’t have to insist that you stayed behind and helped him. You just would’ve done! I can’t tell you how many times I have had to get up from my sick bed earlier than I would’ve liked (or earlier than DH would have done) because despite doing the same job for many years, it was always my issue to cover for unexpected events, such as children being sick rather than his. I try not to think about it because it does genuinely make me quite cross. Sending positive healing vibes to you. 💐

This is so true. It is infuriating. This was exactly what was going through my mind this morning which led to my teary outburst on the phone.

I do have to laugh, my DS keeps telling me he has a bad back, he can’t get up etc… copying mummy with quite realistic groans and actions. He’s shown some sympathy but it didn’t stop him refusing to put his shoes on etc this morning. He did climb into his car seat though so there is hope!

Good news - I’m being referred to a physio (hope I can cope in the mean time, will see if the GP can help with pain management).

Good luck to everyone with this week and bring on the losses. X

A few of us are the same with weight being stubborn at the moment 'I'm convinced it's a set point thing. Perseverance will see us through the other side I'm sure it will.

Omg yes. My DH conveniently forgets that I did the school run and dog walks on my own for years and I never take a day off sick. He takes to his bed at the drop of a hat though! The only time I managed to take to my sick bed was when I had covid!

SerenePeer · 06/05/2025 14:03

I've just cleared two bin bags of clothes from my wardrobe and it feel so good! Anything that was too big, worn out or reminded me of feeling awful about my body is gone!

Cantbesure · 06/05/2025 14:23

Hope your husband is being more helpful now @Goldleafcat Women picking up the slack is a real bug bear of mine. I’ve been a sole parent so at least I haven’t had any expectations

What has led to the decision to go it without MJ @TeenLifeMum? I spend so much time fretting about long term maintenance.

For the fancy opening last week I wore a dress I last wore 3 years ago for a funeral. I can’t believe the comparisons photos. It was busting at the seams! I really don’t want to go back to that.

evilharpy · 06/05/2025 14:43

@Goldleafcat so sorry about your back. I had a herniated disc a few years ago that needed surgery and I had literally no life for months - it was the start of my weight gain actually. I have so much sympathy for you, I don't think anyone really understands back problems until they have been through it. Sorry I haven't seen your earlier posts but have you had an MRI?

I'm worried that I'm not eating enough protein. I don't really eat enough in general but I especially don't eat enough protein and I need to do better because I can't afford to lose muscle mass. Are any of you tracking this? I've been looking at what I would need to eat to get the recommended amount and it just seems like so much and I really struggle to eat when I'm not hungry. I might have to look at protein shakes.

Gettingbysomehow · 06/05/2025 15:01

Having lost 4 stone I am off to the hospital tomorrow at 5am for my hip replacement. Recovery should be so much easier now all that weight has gone.

Thank you. Not had an MRI (yet), am being referred for physio based on a telephone consultation earlier, but will see what my GP has to say too. I am a bit concerned it’s more than what the person on the phone thinks but will see in time. I’m addicted to my hot water bottle at the moment!

You’re not alone - I am struggling a bit with protein too - I’ve been making a concerted effort but since finding out collagen doesn’t quite count I need to think again! Have ordered protein powder. I’ve noticed my hair is starting to shed much more than normal too. My weight loss has been steady so I am thinking it really is an MJ side effect as well as the ‘physical shock’ to the body of weight loss (as it’s not been that ‘shocking’ if that makes sense!).
