Welcome to thread 9 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we head towards Easter Egg season, celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W21 D1 and on my first 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 0.8lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 38.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Yay for arm DOMS! Had them all week. Sleeveless tops here we come. I even got my arms out for tennis today 😉

My new dumbbells came out today too. Amazing how much stronger you become without realising. I’ve completed my 95th Pvolve class today. When I started 24 weeks ago I couldn’t do a press up, a plank nor do multi reps of anything anywhere with a 5lb weight. Today I’m up to 12lb weights and can even side plank <preen>

Still hoping for a whoosh though 😂

A side plank???!!!! AMAZING! You should be preening!!!! 💪

Della82 · 17/04/2025 19:55

@Mounjaropen you are doing amazingly with your activities! Pvolve queen and all the Tennis! Thinspirational stuff 👏

TeenLifeMum · 17/04/2025 20:34

I totally forgot about bio oil - used it loads post pregnancy with twins to reduce scarring.

Today I took my teenage twins to an indoor water park. Had a fantastic time - odd change in dynamic with oldest dd being 17 and off doing her own thing and dh was working. I’m shattered now - 3 hours of climbing stairs to go down slides 😂

I have to accept I look dreadful in my swim suit, but I didn’t let that stop me having fun and the reason I look quite so bad is different to previously. It’s ridiculously loose and clearly the wrong size! I usually go up a size in swim wear but a size 14/16 is not where I am anymore. I managed to stay decent, just 😬🙈

I only remembered when I was reminded on this thread about bio oil (neck wrinkle chat) but there is now a bio oil lotion. £20 but it lasted over a month used every day - it’s more of a milk than a cream but my skin feels so soft! Would recommend.

Good for you going to the water park! Off to the shops you go for teeny tankinis!

aww thanks. It’s been a slog for sure and I’ve never committed to any exercise programme like Pvolve before but my fitness is so much better for having stuck at it. I guess I was never going to admit to DH I’d wasted the money so I had to 😂Tennis I’ve always loved and it is great for knocking stress out of the body too 😉.

I did that with my peloton used it loads when I first got it then I had an unrelated injury and massively lost my mojo with it. I’m back on it 2x a week now and trying to make it stick

also I second the bio oil lotion it’s great!

Cantbesure · 17/04/2025 22:57

Ooh I’ll try the bio oil lotion next. I’m mixing it up with original bio oil and avene skin renewal at the moment. My order of tret from a link on this thread came yesterday so I’m going to start with that 2-3 times a week. I also got sucked into a led mask from a fb ad that now I’m not sure about. Thankfully they do have a 60 day money back guarantee so I can send it back if it doesn’t look like the real deal.

I played netball this week for the first time in almost 40 years. It was surprisingly tiring. Hit between 10–15k steps most days. I still need to be better at drinking water, taking collagen and weights.

well done with the positive mindset @SerenePeer it can be too easy to be knocked back by the scales or a bit of snacking. My body must know it’s Easter as I wanted (and had) some chocolate tonight!

Congrats on the step count and netball (it’s far more brutal than i remembered!)

Well my mystery 1.2lbs has buggered off plus another 1lb so I am 10st 9.4lbs this morning which is 1.8lbs less than last Friday so I’ll take that for the win. 💪

I have applied tret 3 times so far with 3 day interval. No side effects so feel comfortable to up it to bi daily.

That’s a brilliant loss so far down the line. Whoop.

Great to read so many good losses this week. And solidarity to the stallers, do think there’s a lot of brain catching up with body going on at this stage.

I'm a little up this morning, I planned to do something stressful today but have changed my mind and hope that choice will take the tension out my body along with the weight tomorrow.

Planning to get some steps in this weekend and hope for sunshine.

Goodgriefisitginfizzoclock · 18/04/2025 09:01

Having a read through the comments from you lovely lot had me thinking - is it just me or do any of you also feel that this journey, has given your brain time to look at weight loss and eating differently ? The losses / gains / plateau we’ve collectively experienced has shown me that the weight loss and maintaining isn’t linear I’ve found it easier to be kinder to myself and not let a plateau or gain derail me - previously if I had been good (another term I’m binning) but not lost I would easily think fuck it what’s the point and sabotage myself - I can look at it more in the round now not derail. I can also see how I use food to cheer myself up congratulate myself and anything in between- I’ve done it - I can have highs and lows without eating through the emotion - I can - I really hope I can continue to do so,but, for the first time, I really do believe I can

Goldleafcat · 18/04/2025 09:32

A very Good Friday to everyone!

So lovely reading all the positive posts, scale and non scale victories alike! Fantastic stuff and well done. They’ve actually really cheered me up and kept me going this week - I’ve been feeling a bit poorly and glum (cough, period, very fuzzy head). Awesome work @Mounjaropen those are incredible fitness achievements.

@TeenLifeMum
I always need to go up at least a size in swimwear too. Have always wondered if it’s some evil swimwear conspiracy to make us feel more self conscious about ourselves when we may already be feeling more vulnerable than usual. I do have broad shoulders and hips, but still could never understand it until my DH suggested it might because I have a comparatively long body - and he may be on to something? I’m no gazelle, the long body is offset by short legs.

I’ve saved that link for tret thank you again @lovealongbath . Since starting my baby strength retinol (0.3%) a few times a week I’ve already noticed my skin seeming to have a higher ‘turnover rate’ (not sure if that’s the right term!), occasionally peeling after I’ve put on moisturiser (not peeling like sunburn, just more dead skin). Think I need to exfoliate more so I’m braving a gentle AHA a few times a week now (Ren).

Thanks again to those for the incredibly useful info and personal experiences re: HRT. Have made an appointment with the GP to discuss at the end of the month. Eek!

In other news, I’ve had a bit of a whoosh! Had to weight myself twice in case the scales were having a brain fart, but no, I’ve lost 4.2lbs since last Friday! I’d put on a pound last week so it’s still working out 1.5-2lbs a week.

So I’ve reached my 3 stone loss and a bit more.

SW 16 stone 7lbs
CW 13 stone 4.8lbs
GW 11 stone

Total loss to date 3 stone 2.8lbs, or 44.8lbs, or 19.96kg, or indeed an elephant’s heart.

Aww thanks!

I hear you on the stress factor. I’ve got some tension atm as DH has managed to make himself ill again (stress at work but it brings on his heart issues which we thought we had resolved) He’ll ignore all the advice which makes it more stressful… so I’m looking after myself and booked in maintenance/ self care appointments this morning for next week. Eyelash lift/brow tint and tidy and dermaplaning on Tuesday and a lovely Clarins body ritual for Wednesday evening (it’s a one hour facial followed by an hour full body massage and a great deal at my local salon ) so hopefully I’ll sleep really well. Can’t wait!

Hope Good Friday brings you all the HCB’s (the normal ones, not the messed about ones- there’s no need 😂)

Totally agree and resonate with your post.

I’ve had a crème egg this morning with my coffee. No need for crisps, more chocolate or a fat coke chaser which I’d definitely have done before. I know I’m going to have to move more forever and the fancy scales have confirmed that if I eat anything over 1405 calories with no exercise is going to mean weight gain. Previously I think I just wasn’t paying attention to the science of weight loss. And ignoring all of the hidden calories in wine/snacks/takeaways… no more 💪💪💪

Keep going, you’ve got this too 💪💪

Yes! 100% agree. I'm still up this morning. Not the full 1kg that I was, but still heavier than I was this time last week. But I'm not pressing the fuck it button. I know something hormonal must be going on or I'm really not drinking as much water as I think I am. I know logically if I just keep going, drink a bit more water and up my steps a smidgen, it will all work out.

There's a thread running where people say you can order from Oushk for maintenance prior to your maintenance appointment (no idea if true etc) and other pharmacies too.

Happy Friday and happy long weekend! I had a fab gym session this morning - 20 minute run on the Peleton to 90s tunes. Blooming love a run to banging tunes!

Then I dashed over to the beach to catch the morning swimmers and had hugs and brief catch ups in the sun with my swimming buddies. No swim for me today as I wasn't organised enough, but seeing the girls was the tonic I didn't know I needed 🥰

Eyebrows now waxed into submission and I'm planning to make a cheeky Easter cheesecake this afternoon. I could get used to these 4 day weeks!

Still not lost all of the 1 kg i gained overnight, but I'm surpringly logical about it (as I mentioned above). Previous me would be a McDonald's breakfast, 2 pastries and a bag of minstrels deep by now after putting on 1kg overnight with no apparent reason. And I'd be planning the most calorific takeaway I could, while eating crisps and biscuits all day. I'm flabbergasted at my reaction to be honest. Obviously I am a bit pissed off, but it's a blip. And the skinny trousers still fitted this morning, so the scales can do one!

Speaking of clothes, I couldn't settle on an outfit this morning. Nothing looked right, or sat right. Everything felt off. Then I remembered! I felt like this last time I lost a truckload of weight and I'm sure it's because I'm a different shape so my usual way of dressing just doesn't look or feel the same on my body. I think I'm probably in a funny in-between size too so nothing fits as it should or how i remember. But this too shall pass. Now I'm back in the gym, the wobbly bits will soon tone up and i even braved the big girl weights today!

Hope everyone has a lush weekend and those of us who are due a whoosh, find the Easter bunny brings one!
