Welcome to thread 9 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we head towards Easter Egg season, celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W21 D1 and on my first 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 0.8lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 38.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

557+33 = 590

Congrats to all!

I had a weight loss bingo card in my head at Sunday lunch at my (toxic) mother's house with her (toxic) female friends:

  1. Why don't you want mozzarella on your salad? Fat isn't the enemy, sugar is (thanks for the nutrition advice 🙄)
  2. Why haven't you eaten everything on your plate?
  3. You've eaten too little, you will make yourself ill
  4. Why are you on a diet? (This was particularly rich, as she always looks me up and down critically whenever she sees me, and I have been considered horrendously huge in her eyes for years - she is seriously fat phobic)
  5. If you lose too much weight, you will be so gaunt in the face.

And all the while not knowing I am on the expensive death jabs, can you imagine the comments if she did?!

They then segued into a long conversation about an absent 'friend' who had had noro and lost half a stone - she looked 'so much better'. My mother never fails to mention how thin she herself got when she had cancer - -calls it 'the best diet ever'.

I left as soon as I could, greyrocking as much as I could but then got a text asking if I 'was all right as I didn't seem myself'.

No wonder I have had issues with food all my life...

Urgh, it's the Barbie Movie speech in action. To misquote -
Don't be fat. Be thin. But also don't be thinner than me. But don't be fat, lose weight. But lose weight the right way. But not too much.

Lost 3lb this week, but now I’m away for few days in nice hotel so will be having food I don’t normally eat, but that’s ok as I’m on holiday and when home business will resume, plus swimming and walking more here so I may do ok on scale on Monday??????

Have a good week everyone, love reading your updates and thank you for the new thread x

Thanks to all who commented. I am very very short and still overweight. But I am happy with my journey - when I don’t compare myself to others!! And when my scales don’t move in the right direction 🙈😂

You are in your own race against yourself. And doing extremely well. Keep going!

Firstly congratulations on the 33lbs loss. Awesome!

Having grown up with a narcissistic Mother I can relate to all of the above. Sadly, we don’t all get the mother we deserve. I certainly didn’t. My DD does though and that is what matters to me. I cannot ever imagine saying even 1% of the things my Mother said to me growing up to my DD at similar ages. Having a mother who isn’t loving or wants to show you up at every opportunity is exhausting. Knowing they don’t like you or prefer a sibling is like carrying a shameful secret. If it wasn’t for some very kind and nurturing teachers I would most definitely had self-esteem issues but my ticket out of it all was to become self sufficient and resilient through studying hard and being successful in my Industry - which I was. It annoyed the bones of her that the favoured sibling was no where near as successful. That was good enough for me. You are good enough and I hope you know it. It sounds like your Mother was trying to provoke you into drama (which all toxic mothers love) and you did well not to bite back 👏

At least growing up with Mothers like ours we are better Mothers ourselves which is a superpower in itself. 💪🏻
