Welcome to thread 8 to MN weight loss friends old and new!
Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we Spring forward into a new season...and consider new swimwear and Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W17 D3 and on my fourth 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 6.4 lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 32.6lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Friends, I’m delighted to confirm that our trademarked 10-step food-specific part of the DH rehabilitation programme will include:

  1. Learning to cook a meal without using every piece of cooking equipment or utensil in the kitchen.
  2. Learning the art of clearing up as you go along in point 1.
  3. Discovering the simplicity of emptying dishwasher before you start cooking so the mess you create has somewhere to go (part of our joint honours alongside ‘the bleeding obvious’ programme)
  4. Learning not to wait for a medal ceremony after cooking one meal (not for yourself) out of a possible 90 over any one month
  5. Understanding that what you fancy eating does not match what everyone else in the family wants to eat for every meal and how this may affect matrimonial relations
  6. Learning the wisdom of using resealable bags or tins for biscuits/crisps/crackers so other family members may enjoy crispy food stuffs after you have opened them
  7. Discovering the inner peace that using a plate whilst eating on the sofa may bring as you learn how to avoid both repercussions and spousal conflict from your actions
  8. Enjoying the household harmony as you actively clear up without being prompted after someone else has made you a meal.
  9. Reaping the benefits of carrying out small acts of kindness as you offer your spouse a drink when you make one for yourself or bring them a coffee in bed
  10. Understanding the link between pulling your weight in the domesticity department and the rather enjoyable reward centre in the boudoir ;-)

Sign your DH up now 😂

I could have written that wish list myself😂😂😂
love it 😍

OOOHHH!!! My husband does that INSANELY annoying trick of scrunching up a crisp pack or chocolate wrapper and stuffing it into a mug (always with liquid still in it)! The mug, liquid and wrapper all go in three DIFFERENT places, and everyone wants to put a wet drippy wrapper in the bin, so much better than a simple dry one! #passiveagressiverantover

I’m embarrassed to say my DH doesn’t even bother with the mug, he carefully folds the crisp packet into a neat square and carefully tucks it down the side of the sofa seat😳

However he does cook good meals so not all bad!

What's with this horrible cold me and DP and the wee GS have it GS has autism he's 6 and doesn't realise cleaning his nose is helping or taking calpol helps its so frustrating I'm knackered and ate a medium wrap of the day meal from mcdonalds 😬

Bless you. But still way better eating that than a Big Mac, fries & milkshake though right?

Mylittlepea · 02/03/2025 13:44

I’ve just jabbed, approx half of last weeks dose (for those not seen my prev posts, I’m on Wegovy rather than MJ) - worked out the number of clicks to do this.
Hoping no side effects of the violent nature I had last week after going up (🏃🏼‍♀️🚽💩🤮) - I have a fab girls weekend away next weekend where I know there’ll be loads of food & drink so I did debate whether to miss a dose today and get back on the fizz & G&T’s etc as I’ve been alcohol free since end of Oct. Just not sure what to do. I have some great 0% alternatives to take and definitely don’t need to drink to have fun but… 🤷🏼‍♀️

One Maccy D’s after a looooong day is not a disaster. Keep buggering on 💪🏻

well done to everyone and it’s great to share this journey with you all.

I’m 38lb down today, feeling very happy indeed.

SW: 14 stone (7 Nov) - BMI 32.6
CW: 11 stone 6 lbs - BMI 26.6
GW: 10 stone ish … which I haven’t been for around 8 years

Still haven't told a soul. Hubby and close friends know I’m dieting.

well done! Same goals except I haven’t been 10st for more than twenty years..😂

Bear in mind you will get very drunk very quickly being off the sauce for that length of time so pace yourself!

Bugger that. I’d be putting mousetraps down the side of the sofa to cure him of that habit 😂

Anyone else reading the MJ thread in AIBU? I’m just reading and not contributing my thoughts (as I don’t want someone jumping down my throat and declaring I’m bound to shortly become a quivering mass of jelly devoid of muscle or a pancreas etc) (I’m generally more of a spectator than a participant in threads) but it’s interesting to watch it unfold (I’ve also got my MJ bingo card to hand!).

Is this the I am jealous post?

DarkForces · 02/03/2025 14:52

That jealousy thread is very revealing about why people resent the jabs. They're simultaneously the easy way to lose weight and going to be the death of us all. It's weird how resentful people are of those taking the expensive death jabs. I've given up trying to reason with anyone. They were less concerned about my definite risks linked to obesity than they pretend to be about the potential risks of the cure!

Yes. I don't blame the original OP for feeling how she does at all. Slightly odd so many people in her life are apparently on them and suddenly tiny but there we are. She could however also just give them a go.

It’s the squabbling further down the thread - I shouldn’t be wasting my time reading AIBU but I’m nap trapped and being lazy 😂.

It seems like the way they try to justify their faux concern is often through claims of issues like ‘you’ll lose muscle mass’. This is true but is true of all diets - and in fact since I’ve lost weight I’ve become loads more active, have actually started doing exercise classes for the first time ever, and have purchased some weights to start building strength. They bleat on about various reasons not to take them, but ignore the literal elephant in the room which is all the other health conditions or concerns related to obesity (not least the psychological impact).

murraymcgill · 02/03/2025 15:19

@Mylittlepea yeah I suppose your right I feel better now well I lost 1lb this week again so I'm happy with that

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 02/03/2025 16:34

@DarkForces love expensive death jabs! I posted on that to say I’m living proof that you can be obese and a size 12-14, but no one’s listening, they’re all busily saying that anyone under a size 16 is lying and cheating.

I love them too. I was a 16 (in some brands) at bmi 35. Elastic is a thing!

Caplin · 02/03/2025 18:33

Bit of advice. I’m due to jab tomorrow. I’m still on 5mg and still got very good suppression. DH has booked a 5 course tasting menu on Wednesday, and normally on a Wednesday night I can barely eat anything! We have been before, and courses are small, but even pre MJ I was struggling by the end.

I’ve got 2 options. 1) delay jab by a few days, but Thursday feels too much of a gap. 2) I do a half jab (2.5) tomorrow, and another 2.5 on Thursday. That way my appetite hopefully won’t be completely flattened.

Thoughts?

If I were you I would probably delay until Thursday. I took the same approach at Christmas so I could enjoy Christmas Day.

I have never had quite that level of suppression - and I’m now on 10mg! It’s interesting how we are all so different. ☺️

Caplin · 02/03/2025 19:22

Thanks @Goldleafcat

I have had really crazy suppression. I thought it was lessening last week as I started get snackish, but I still get uncomfortably full really fast. Must have been time of the month as I’m not feeling snackish this week.

I’m learning how to eat out, no starters, or sticking to starter size portions. So 5 courses feels intimidating!

I did half dose when I was on holiday as I didn’t want to feel high suppression just partial.

it worked for me!

good luck with whatever you decide and enjoy the tasting menu

I just came on to mention that thread. What struck me is that it kind of sounded like none of the people the OP mentioned should be on MJ in terms of starting weight if they only had a stone or so to lose? I'm starting to wonder how big an issue abuse/wrong prescribing actually is... I didn't think it could be huge, but maybe it is?
