Welcome to thread 8 to MN weight loss friends old and new!
Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we Spring forward into a new season...and consider new swimwear and Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W17 D3 and on my fourth 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 6.4 lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 32.6lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Oh my goodness, I was motivated into an attempt at skin care by you lovely ladies, and now I have to think about collagen! 🤣 Being behind the times I’m hoping for a good effect of Trinny Elevator on my decolte (can’t spell it), which is probably the most wrinkled part of me. But my Trinny moisturiser (which was recommended even though I said I have rosacea) really makes my rosacea flair in a very angry way, so I need to sort that out.

I have been frustrated with the routine of lose lbs mid week (when MJ effects are strongest) and then gain some back on the weekend. The weight is going much more slowly. I’d like to move to 7.5 to try to woosh away my final stone, but it is going off slowly so better off than not. And today I did my first ever step class, so I am happy about going into summer (and the rest of my life, hopefully) fitter and firmer (and more moisturised). My role model is the Trinny model - she has lovely skin 😁🤣

Well done on the step class! I love a step class. Let us know about the elevator. As I say, I’m on the fence about collagen so let’s see if anything changes 🤞

Thanks @Mounjaropen

the boots one does not taste good so will give that a try! If Amanda takes it then it must be good 😂😂😂

Have another reformer session today and did LOADS of squats yesterday am trying to create more tone as I approach target

am giving the bio oil moisturiser now, not sure Averno did much for my crepe paper look 😂

Mandy knows… what pays her bills 😂

@phyllidafosset I LOVE a step class! Was it one with a routine that builds up and you put it all together at the end?

The Step class is just before my yoga class (which is yin yoga, so just lying on the floor, feeling like I'm doing something useful), which is just before my Zumba class. Now I LOVE my Zumba class (I don't get out often enough), so I came out of my Step class all endorphined up imagining that I was going to be doing all three in a row. With a few hours distance between that optimistic idea, what I most feel like doing is having a little snooze 😂

I'm looking forward to hearing if the collagen does anything! And I have high hopes for my Elevator :D If nothing else, I like the packaging, and my skin has never been so moisturised 😂

Well, the official class involved that build up of steps. My version involved a realisation 5 minutes in that I should NOT have included the red platform bits in my step platform that 80% of people had because I am NOT fit enough for that (and a little bit of cheating). And my version also included moderate success at following success until it started twizzling over the board in some sort of combination of steps which didn't quite fit the music. After that, it was a bit hit and miss about whether or not I was actually doing the steps, or was just doing something, or was stopped trying to work out which was my left or right foot (and because I was absolutely wasted because I have not done that much continuous physical movement for bloody ages). I looked like a beetroot dipped in water by the end 😂 But it was way more exercise than the Zumba class because she didn't let us stop at any point (officially anyway) to grab a drink. So it is probably a better route to fitness!

Half of the success for any facial product is just the benefit of massaging it in I reckon… so enjoy!

I’m taking the Willpowders collagen and do really like it, my skin is better, I started in January so had already changed diet thanks to MJ so think the collagen is the change-I’m not getting the cystic hormonal acne I was before.

I started listening to the Zoe podcast today and it’s really interesting-Im
thinking I may transfer into Zoe post MJ as another perspective on long term nutrition and how I process different foods etc

Has anyone tried it?

I tried Zoe before I tried MJ. I lost a few pounds, but I did find that Zoe was essentially just a lot of common sense. I thought they might tell me I couldn't process sugar but I could fat, but it seems I couldn't process either, so it was eat lots of beans and pulses and nuts and avocados and don't eat bread or processed food or sugar. Although it did very little from a weight loss perspective, I do think it is the way that I will need to eat going forward to hopefully maintain my losses. And I did try a couple of recipes which were really nice (okay, one, but it was still a 100% success rate).

Not so much when they are only 45 minutes and one does literally involve snoozing in three minute yoga poses, all of which are designed to stretch rather than hurt. I think your two hours of tennis is much more impressive! Not least because you often throw in some pilates too. Nevertheless, I am making it closer to the gym fanatic (I am hoping that Elevator is reducing the Granny, but I don't feel like I'm quite hitting the bunny yet).

Hi all, its been ages since i posted and quite frankly I am fed up. My weightloss has stalled over the last 3 weeks and i can't see a way through.

Friday will be the start is week 20. To date i have lost 26lbs but the scales wont budge anymore. So haven't even lost 2 stone yet.

I have a couple of friends who started after me, started at a lower weight than me and both lost over 2 stone, one in 6 weeks the other 10 weeks.

I have tracked my calories, increased exercise & drunk water like it going out of fashion since starting.

I think mentally I need to get over the 2 stone loss, as i know its still an incredibly amount to loose but i feel like given how drastically i have changed my diet i may have been able to achieve this weight loss without the expense.

I spoke to pharmacy and they suggested moving to 10mg. I have been on 7.5mg for 3 months. So on Friday it will be my first does of this. Prehaps i do just need a higher does for it to be effective.

Quiet frankly i feel like just eating everything in sight today! Sorry for the pitty party. Someone please give me a kick ip the backside!

I definitely agree with moving up a dose if things are stalling and you are doing everything else well. My responsiveness to MJ has been nowhere near as strong as many other people on this thread, though that has been slightly offset by having very little side effects (one example - only had eggy burps once, for a few hours the day after I moved up to 7.5mg. Nothing after that). I’m now on 10mg which is working a lot better, but took the decision to get a 12.5mg pen for the next month… if all hell breaks loose on the side effect front I’ll count clicks so it’s just 10mg again.

I’m trying to tell myself it means once I’ve lost the weight it’ll be easier to keep it off because I’m having to apply a hell of a lot of will power already 😂

Bum kick incoming. You can only run your own race - ignore everyone else's. It's not about who crosses the finishing line first, it's you crossing it at the right time for you and what that means for a healthier future.
I'm trying to block out my raging jealousy at the people who are fitting into Thin People jeans already when I know I'm months and stones away from that still. And I still get cross with myself for getting to the weight I did before starting Mounjaro and making the loss that much more of a journey. I'll try to be nicer to myself if you will too?
You're averaging over a pound a week loss. Give yourself a woop for that 🥳 1-2 pounds is a healthy rate to lose, so that rate is probably great at reducing the risk of a flappy chin or gallbladder issues down the line!
Onwards and downwards.

Methemummy · 19/03/2025 19:50

@Goldleafcat, I have also had very few side effects thus far. Suppression has been good at all doses, although i have always known its time to move up. I have been able to do 2 months at each stage, i did think last week a 3rd month at 7.5mg was probably the wrong call.

Like you i have convinced myself I am more likely to keep the weight off if its so slow to come off. Just hope that logic works.

@PinkArt thank you much needed. The changes I have made are completely sustainable for the long term. I was determined and so motivated when I started this journery to do it right and for life. I just need to find that fight again. Given that the weight crept in over years, I can't expect any quick fixes!

Woohoo!

Came out of the skin / injection site? I’ve had a dribble before

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 19/03/2025 20:15

I’ve had a little bit of the MJ come out before, @IHateMozzies. Just a tiny bead. I read somewhere that it’s perfectly ok.

Following on from all the collagen chat, if I’m taking biotin do I need collagen as well? I am reluctant because with this sort of thing, people assure you that it’s completely tasteless and I can always taste it. I’ve just restarted biotin after finding the packet in the cupboard and remembering about it.

Very slow weight loss this week - so far I’ve lost 0.2lbs, but it’s my busiest work week of the year and takeaways crept back in, plus DH cooked lavish dinner for our anniversary yesterday (scallops and chorizo, plus a scallop roe hollandaise, followed by beef Wellington and tenderstem broccoli). So it’s not very surprising that I’ve struggled to lose weight! I have been really hungry, and I don’t know whether it’s the eat more, want more cycle or whether it’s just because I’ve been tired and stressed. Could actually just be habit - normally at this time of year I’d be rewarding myself with all sorts of junk just to make it through the day!

MontyJinks · 19/03/2025 20:23

I opted for the Ancient & Brave collagen as it was 'completely tasteless'....

Spoiler: I CAN taste it 🙄

Only on day 3, it is a very mild taste, but definitely there in a cup of tea (some report it being unnoticeable in coffee - but I don't like coffee!). Am going to experiment with sprinkling it on various foodstuffs from tomorrow.

I stir my collagen into soup, cottage cheese, yogurt etc basically any wet food - it's far far harder to taste.

Aww no judgement here for the pity party. Similar situation so I’m moving up to 7.5mg from next week. You have lost 26lb! That is to be celebrated 👏 That said, comparison is the thief of joy. We are all different so accept what you have achieved for yourself and take the win 🥰

PS have you monitored your inch loss? You might find additional wins there too 😉

Aww you’ve had extra challenges this week. Anniversaries are to be celebrated! and you’ve still lost something 👏

Biotin supports keratin production (nails/hair) Collagen is specifically designed to support skin structure and elasticity so you can theoretically combine the two I’d say?

My last 3 weeks have been very up and down. I really did think I was making good choices, got down to 10st 7… then up to 10st 11 a day later (WTF), and I’ve been 10st 9 quite a lot of the time - which is 2stone loss. This is my first real stall and I’d gone up to 10mg so I was hoping I’d kick things into action more than the previous month’s 1lb a week loss. Didn’t happen at all. Yesterday I moved up to 12.5mg and have had no side effects so far, but suppression is still not like it was at the start.

Fingers crossed for a woosh for us all this week!

Pumpkinforever · 19/03/2025 23:14

I have convinced myself that Elevator by Trinny London is having an impact. I have used it twice a day for a couple of weeks. I have also used it with the Sarah Chapman roller a couple of times a week. Now I am not sure if it is because I gone from doing nothing with my neck and chin area to be religious about skin care 😂

It smells lovely.

Face being covered by Clarins

Rest of my body getting a regular smothering of Aveeno.

DH has never seen so many ‘potions and lotions’ 😂
