Welcome to thread 8 to MN weight loss friends old and new!
Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we Spring forward into a new season...and consider new swimwear and Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W17 D3 and on my fourth 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 6.4 lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 32.6lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

@Mounjaropen thank you!! I'm buzzing today. It's a big milestone. And I'll take my flat arse as payment 😂

I thought the thread was interesting to see the views and misunderstanding around MJ. It's a far cry from our little bubble here on the thread.

The black market thing baffles me, do you think they are lying to online pharmacies or getting from other places. I'd be terrified of injecting something into me that I wasn't sure of the source. As per the Times article on microdosing, there are clearly private GPs/clinics that prescribe off license but I assume that comes with a hefty price tag.

I only want to lose 2-2.5 stone so I'm in the band that was being attacked on the thread. But that for me is the difference between being obese and having a healthy BMI. And it's for both vanity and health purposes. I don't want to go into my old age carrying an excess 2 stone, with all the associated health risks that brings.

I'm with you @cantbesure. I have closer to 3 stone to lose, but because I'm tall and the way I carry excess weight, a lot of people would be shocked if they knew I'd gone down the WLI route. I'd become very good at hiding the extra 3 stone I was carrying and it's taken a 2 stone loss for anyone to even start asking if I'm 'doing anything different'. Even my closest friend who is used to seeing me in all sorts of unflattering outfits post sauna/swim didn't notice I'd lost any weight until I'd lost 20lbs.

Oh wow @Mounjaropen I'm concerned about strength and bone density.

So this morning is a good morning. I have finally hit 1.5 stone loss. I have just sneaked under 9 stones by .2 of a lb but still! (Disclaimer I am very, very short). My BMI is 25.7. I'm now 2lbs away from my slimming world target weight that I hit in 2018.

And I have changed my scales to lbs from kgs now that the readings aren't as emotive (in a negative way at least).

Happy, happy!!!! 😃

Will you post a pic of the scales starting with an 8 so we can all live vicariously through you? That’s incredible! Well done! I’m 5’2” and a healthy BMI for me is anything under 9 st 11 - how tall are you, and what’s your healthy weight?

I’ve only now after losing nearly 2 stone started to worry that people might notice and wonder if I’m on the jabs. However now that my BMI is 27.1 I’m losing a lot more slowly, so hopefully people will just think diet rather than jabs. My average weekly loss has dropped to 1.6lbs, which is really annoying from one point of view, but does help to obscure the issue.

Mounjaropen · 04/03/2025 10:32

jay55 · 04/03/2025 10:05

There's a side hustle there for those of us still fat in supplying pictures to people who want jabs.

I don't really understand the mentality of wanting to throw money away when it's not needed. I really thought cost would make people think thrice before trying it. But I've never been one for Botox and fillers either.

Anyway, happy Fat Tuesday all, I'm looking forward to pancakes later.
So far 7.5 has produced a few toxic burps and as usual I didn't sleep much after jabbing. Nothing too bad so far.

Goodness how things have changed! I’d even forgotten it was pancake day today! And yes, I expect there are unscrupulous people offering to supply pictures of themselves so that people who don’t need weight loss injections get weight loss injections 😠

I know what you mean, I post familypictures includingmyself regularly on Facebook (sounds like I am vain, I promise you I really am not as I posted pictures of myself before this journey)and I’ve had a few people say to me IRL I didn’t want to comment but you have lost an awful lot of weight haven’t you? In all fairness, most people like to check I haven’t been diagnosed with some sort of illness but before assuming that I am on WLI.

I got my mum back on HRT after she was diagnosed with osteoporosis. She broke her arm, her clavicle, her ankle, a toe - all in separate incidences within 18 months

My mum had osteoporosis and did not take HRT so it was one of the main motivators for me actually taking it in case it wasn’t simply hereditary, just a drug avoidant situation! Your poor mum, that sounds like quite the year she had.

I don’t think it’s anyone’s business though whatever choices you make. I also think it matters where you lose the weight from first. I obviously lost a lot from my face as every time I met someone having lost just 7 lb they commented had I lost weight?

in other news, if anyone wants some vacuous nonsense to watch whilst on the treadmill I’d highly recommend Meghan Markle‘s new series on Netflix. Astonishingly tone deaf given the recent fires (although to be fair she couldn’t have known this but as she owns the production company so probably could’ve stopped his distribution right now) she’s obviously a wannabe Nigella (my queen) even to the point where she pronounces the word sieve in a very curious way a la Nigella’s has pronunciation of the word microwave . She even uses the same sort of music Nigella uses for her cookery shows. It was interesting to note that for a woman who complained she was never allowed to have her nails painted whilst in the rolyal family, that she has chosen to paint her nails a neutral colour now she is apparently free of it all 🙄 probably most telling from our little gangs point of view is what Megan seems to think a portion of pasta looks like. I don’t think it’s a thing near what even an Italian would consider to be normal. Anyway, a good hate Watch is always good for getting the steps in! I’d say poor old Harry, except that I have a younger sibling who was acted in the same bizarre manner as he has been including the rewriting of history, so I’m afraid my sympathy levels are quite low where he is concerned!

This thread is so interesting - I struggle to keep up but really enjoy everyone’s input!

I wouldn’t have taken the plunge if it wasn’t for a friend being on it. I’ve only actually mentioned it to one friend because quite a few of my group are pt instructors and stunning - I’m making an assumption but I think they’d judge. Friend struggles with her weight and C was commenting on my loss and I wanted to be honest with her. She hasn’t asked further but I don’t think it’s in her budget. Only dh knows and he’s been really supportive. He was nervous and concerned initially but understanding. He’s awesome. He does miss my boobs (I’m still a 34DD/32E!).

PT instructor friends have said that weights are the best thing for preventing osteoporosis. Not sure if that’s true but I need to get back into using my weights. I’ve stopped running because I kept getting injuries but not doing weights is just lazy. The sun is out and I need to find my mojo!

currently sat in the garden with the dogs (puppy is proving to be the most chilled little sweetheart). Then off to the Dorset coast this afternoon with dh (random annual leave days that need to be used before end of March).

Cantbesure · 04/03/2025 12:32

Haha @TooExtraImmatureCheddar here I am just sneaking into 8s. By a whisker! I'm incredibly short and at 5'2" you'd tower over me by 3"!!

My healthy weight ends at about 8 stone 12. And starts at something ridiculous in the 6 stones! I have planned to get to 8 and a half. But seeing the more ambitious plans on this thread I wonder if I'm doing myself and my longer term health a disservice by not seeing if I can get to 8 and a BMI of around 23.

My subcutaneous fat is still high and my waist is still above the healthy measurement for my height so still goals to aim for that aren't just the number of the scale.

@Cantbesure @TooExtraImmatureCheddar

Fellow very short person here 🙋

I did laugh at my lowest healthy weight being 6 stone something - a big gust of wind and we'd all blow away 😂

I'm aiming for 8st 8lbs as it's in the middle of a healthy weight for me, but I'll reassess at about 9 stone because I have no idea of what I'll look/feel like at that final stage. Exciting times though 😊 Keep plodding on everyone 💪

murraymcgill · 04/03/2025 15:30

Gave myself a quick weigh in this morning so I'm 12.5 I've not been this weight for ages like 35 year 😅 new clothes are needed when my fat belly goes for some reason I can't shift that

😂I have a vertically challenged DD...No idea what she should weigh - she's at that age where she can eat anything and still have a flat stomach...

Keep going!

It’s just a few hours here. We live in the West Country but more in land.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 04/03/2025 17:14

So I’ve just been refused life and critical illness mortgage cover because of the weight loss jabs! Miffed. It was the only thing I had to declare - the only thing I’ve been prescribed medication for in the last two years (not counting antibiotics for whooping cough). The man did say that there had been an email round his office earlier in the week saying that this was coming up a lot and that policies might need to be updated.

PinkArt · 04/03/2025 18:16

Was it someone in this gang who was looking for a new perfume? If so Cult Beauty are launching four different perfume edit sets soon. They're usually really good value for money.

SerenePeer · 04/03/2025 19:24

Feeling quite smug as I've just been to my first group pilates class. Inspired by all the pvolve chat in here and my other inspiration Jonathan Van Ness. Love him.

Omg! I wonder why they think it's a risk? Surely it should lower your risk if anything!

He said they don’t have a specific category for it yet so it goes down as generic weight loss treatment. Perhaps it was originally based on bariatric surgery, which is a lot more dangerous?

Cantbesure · 04/03/2025 20:50

@TooExtraImmatureCheddar wow that's crazy. There are thousands of us on this now. Lots of people have been away. Does that mean they didn't declare it as a medication?

@SerenePeer I really wanted to try Pilates until I used the elevate machine at my gym. I struggle to get it to move so not sure I'd manage Pilates 🙈😂 how was it?

Just back from the gym I actually quite enjoyed it. The company helped.

Sorry @TooExtraImmatureCheddar I've just read your message again and realised it's not travel insurance! Life insurance - madness.
