Welcome to thread 8 to MN weight loss friends old and new!
Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we Spring forward into a new season...and consider new swimwear and Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W17 D3 and on my fourth 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 6.4 lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 32.6lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Oooh while we are on M and S jeans chat (style and beauty thread here we come 😉) I bought some size 10 wide leg M and S jeans the other day. I honestly don’t think I’m actually a true size 10 (yet) it must be their vanity sizing but I really love them regardless. Quite a fashionable shape if I say so myself they’ve definitely put a spring in my step.

Ooh. They sound fab. I’m very much a stuck in skinnies kinda girl. Not trendy at all. I did try on some wide leg ones recently but I couldn’t work out what shoes would be flattering. I don’t do trainers except for training.

God, I’ve not fitted in my wedding dress for a really long time! It’s in the loft - my boobs have shrunk a lot but probably still not enough for it.

Get it out - bet you’re not far off getting into it!

Morning everyone! Hope you all had a good weekend? I do hope the blue skies and sunshine stick around because I'm an even happier person with them (cannot face more grey skies and winter!)

Big news from me today. I'm wearing a size 12 pair of jeans! 🥳 M&S boyfriend style, so I do think they're a big 12 but I don't actually care. They're a 12 and I'm delighted! Dh reckons I'm the same shape/size as when we got married now (I don't think it am - another stone to go i reckon) so I must dig my wedding dress out for a try on and a giggle!

🥳 new jeans and a size 12! The holy grail level unlocked 💪🏻

I’ve just made the mistake of going to read more of it and then stopped myself when I got to ‘ozempic arse’!

😂😂😂😂😂

How funny, I needed some extra help with a property today and hired a local girl from the village to assist with a builders clean. Reckon she was a small size 12. 30 years old. On dodgy Ozempic (i say dodgy as she wouldn’t qualify BMI wise and got it on the black market) but she was suffering from low mood and illness which is probably because she doesn’t need it at all and is probably setting herself up for messing her hormones for a long time. I genuinely thought that this sort of thing was exaggerated in the Daily Mail but it turns out maybe not!

is anyone else starting to get annoyed with some thread topics? I don’t mean killer skinny jab envy we are only thinking about your health faux posts but the others. Posts such as do I need to keep it in the fridge, where do I jab, how many doses in a pen, it’s in the fridge for weeks but I am scared etc.

By just reading starter threads there will answers for all these questions or read the pharmacy instructions or pharmacy q&a section or EL information leaflets. I did lots of research before deciding to take WLI but I feel some don’t. I maybe harsh and people are just wanting quick answers

I don’t read any other than this one really…. It’s a bit like the one mum on the school class whatsapp who never reads any newsletter/letter home and just bothers everyone who has…..glad I’m out of those chats now 😆

🙌 lost 2lb over half term so moving down the 11s. Currently 11st11 on the nose. BMI down 0.7 to 29.2. Glad I moved up the dose now as I was starting to stall a bit.

Well done! 🥳

Expensive death jabs 🤣🤣🤣 weird that Lilly didn't go with that!

Thanks @Mounjaropen turns out so long as I put the damn phone down I'm good (plus the cliff edge deadline 🙈)

That pool lounging is going to feel sooooo good plus bonus schadenfreud for the suckers that are paying 😁

I was still wearing some size 12s and mostly 14s in my obese weight. I was in denial and was clearly a 16 at least but some shapes and fabrics worked over my pear shaped hips.

I’m regretting my choices tonight. Jab was due Friday but it was dh’s birthday and on top of that we all had colds. I decided to wait to jab this evening. I’ve been constipated all weekend, hideous trapped wind last night (not something I usually get) and now, 2 hours after jabbing I cannot leave the toilet yet. I am definitely no longer constipated! 🙈

Onwards to getting back on track and avoiding Ben and Jerry’s ice cream and Nutella sandwiches. What was I thinking?!

Edited

I’ve not tried ice cream since starting MJ. Probably won’t either judging by your poorly tum! Hope you are better today!

Well done at @BagQueenBee . Great week!

I have a stay the same this week - bit annoying as I had a loss midweek - but at least it is not again. I dropped my dose a bit as had a bit of random sickness last week.

Thank you, I have had a few maintain weeks, so don’t worry but I know it’s a bit disappointing….i have upped my water and that really helped as I lost 4lb last week too, but that was after 10 days as changed weigh day.

After about 45 minutes of clearing my bowels I was good. Suppression not amazing right now so I’ve gone for the 12.5 dose for my next pen. I’ve put on this week had more cravings than I’ve had since starting mj which is worrying. I do think my iron levels are low again so I’m being kind and planning to refocus as I need to lose 7lbs to be in the healthy range. A week ago I needed to lose 5lbs so I’m having a gentle word with myself.

Pumpkinforever · 03/03/2025 22:10

I have just done my first 3.75mg dose from my first 5mg pen. Depending upon how in goes I might do 4 x 3.75 plus 5mg bonus or do 2 weeks at 3.75 and then go to 5mg.

It all depends if I can get a whoosh or not

Cantbesure · 03/03/2025 22:42

Hello my fellow expensive death jab friends. I love that term now 😂

@TeenLifeMum my GP recommended spatone for low iron. I have the apple flavour. She said that the body absorbs the iron better than in tablet form and they are kinder on the gut.

I thought the AIBU thread was interesting. I felt a bit sorry for the OP with her history of ED and don't think WLI would be right for her. But I ended up on MJ as I realised so many people around me were on them and losing weight whilst I was constantly losing and putting on the same half stone and always ending up heavier. If people close to me hadn't been on it I would never even have considered it as being something for me or that I could afford.

I've had my order approved by oushk now so I can think about what my maintenance plan might look like in a couple of months. 4lbs away from the elusive healthy BMI. 2.5lbs to tip into the last stone bracket... whilst my loss is pretty slow compared to most of you, I know I wouldn't have lost this much without MJ. I have realised tonight though I have totally lost my bum. It's flat from my back down!! Time to work on my glutes at the gym 🏋️‍♀️

The final trigger that made me decide to start MJ was reading an article (think in the Times?) about a woman who used Wegovy (in secret) to lose a relatively small amount of weight and was preening about how she was happy to zip up her size 10/12 jeans after a couple of months. I thought - if people like this can use it - and I bloody well need to lose more weight than that - I had better do it!

I’m at the point to order my next pen (I do have a full 10mg in the fridge waiting for me) and pondering whether to go to 12.5mg. I stuck with two 7.5mg in a row then came to regret it (and ended up faffing with syringes to get 10mg doses out of it!) so don’t want to have to do that again.

Glad your tum has recovered now.

Interesting article today in The Times today about Osteoporosis. A friend of mine actually had an accident recently and didn’t just have a break - her bones pretty much disintegrated upon impact. We are the same age. It has been a motivation for me to sort out exercise which builds bone density. I am going to start eating something before working out though as I am guilty of exercising on an empty stomach.

I’m 55, eat well, don’t smoke and exercise. Yet I also have osteoporosis

Anna Maxted was shocked by the result of a bone mineral density scan. This is what she did about it

Oh wow @Mounjaropen I'm concerned about strength and bone density.

So this morning is a good morning. I have finally hit 1.5 stone loss. I have just sneaked under 9 stones by .2 of a lb but still! (Disclaimer I am very, very short). My BMI is 25.7. I'm now 2lbs away from my slimming world target weight that I hit in 2018.

And I have changed my scales to lbs from kgs now that the readings aren't as emotive (in a negative way at least).

Happy, happy!!!! 😃

Off to check my bum for signs of Ozempic arse… 😂

That thread I thought summed up the worst of all worlds… the women who get sucked into lip fillers/botox etc not because it is right for them, but because everyone else is doing it. So WLI even though you are not eligible via normal channels and you risk slipping back into an ED (a bit like my cleaner yesterday). Then the naysayers popped along to advise of their Daily Mail- fuelled opinions about something they have had no direct experience of and desperate not to ‘catch obesity’ I didn’t comment because I didn’t want them following us over here where we have support.

Fingers crossed for the next milestone and for the heads up about Oushk. Think that’ll be my next step. My BMI now is 26.1 or 26.4 depending on which app I’m looking at which is in the slightly above normal range for my height.

I think it’s a personal choice depending on your food noise and weight loss progress. I probably shouldn’t have stuck for so long on 5mg but I’m happy(ish) with my 2 lbs pw loss and still not having hunger pangs. No whooshes but it feels right for me.

@Mounjaropen thank you!! I'm buzzing today. It's a big milestone. And I'll take my flat arse as payment 😂

I thought the thread was interesting to see the views and misunderstanding around MJ. It's a far cry from our little bubble here on the thread.

The black market thing baffles me, do you think they are lying to online pharmacies or getting from other places. I'd be terrified of injecting something into me that I wasn't sure of the source. As per the Times article on microdosing, there are clearly private GPs/clinics that prescribe off license but I assume that comes with a hefty price tag.

I only want to lose 2-2.5 stone so I'm in the band that was being attacked on the thread. But that for me is the difference between being obese and having a healthy BMI. And it's for both vanity and health purposes. I don't want to go into my old age carrying an excess 2 stone, with all the associated health risks that brings.

There's a side hustle there for those of us still fat in supplying pictures to people who want jabs.

I don't really understand the mentality of wanting to throw money away when it's not needed. I really thought cost would make people think thrice before trying it. But I've never been one for Botox and fillers either.

Anyway, happy Fat Tuesday all, I'm looking forward to pancakes later.
So far 7.5 has produced a few toxic burps and as usual I didn't sleep much after jabbing. Nothing too bad so far.
