November ‘24 Starters Thread 7 - The one where we might need smaller smalls 😉

1000 replies

Mounjaropen · 06/02/2025 08:15

Welcome to thread 7 to MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we move beyond the looooongest month and into February. Love is in the air for our new smaller selves and discovering clothes we use to wear ❤️

I’m on W14 D4 and on my third 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 9.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 29.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Hmm is a tricky one IndigoHexagon as it sounds like you’ve found a dress you really love. Can you afford to get it and just have it as a lovely wardrobe item? Even if it doesn’t quite fit by the end of May?

If not I might be tempted to get the bigger size and have it fit a little looser. I always found (in my slimmer younger years) that a 12-14 was quite flexible to wear as a size 10 and you can always pop on an uplifting bra or padded one to boost the fit on the top shelf! 😁

KeepCalmandGiveItaGo · 23/02/2025 18:36

Hope you all have a good week ahead. Back to school tomorrow and hoping the whipping wind and rain will settle by morning as am completely done with being wind and rain whipped at drop off and picks up now. Roll on spring!

Jabbing tonight, 3rd 5mg and need to order my next pen with Cloud, am going to go for a 7.5mg. One change with Cloud is it appears you have to manually order each pen whereas with Voy it was sent automatically every month.

Has anyone needed to order a new sharps box yet? I think mines nearly full, but hard to tell as it’s sealed.

Am back to where I was a month ago now after a bob, a pause and a gain. If I can honestly lose even 1 pound it will at least be onward progress, arg!

Hey all,
Some advice needed please!

I am attending an event on 25th May which is a gala, black tie type dinner and dance. I’m a jeans and a sweater type of girl, à fancy jumpsuit if I absolutely need to be dressed up. I don’t own anything suitable and even if I did, it would be a much bigger size that I hope to be by the end of May.
Also, whatever I buy it’s likely only going to get worn once so I don’t want to spend a lot. I know I could hire something if I need to.
However I’ve just seen a dress that I really really like and can see myself in and it’s not expensive but I couldn’t afford to buy two. But what size do I go for? The size choices are M or L. It says the medium is a size 10, the medium a 12-14. There are review saying that people who are 14-16 are wearing an L and in their pictures it looks fine.

I am an L now - comfortably in a 14 with some signs already that they getting looser.

Will I jinx my weight loss by being too ambitious and ordering the 10? I’ve gone from 113kg to 85kg since end of October and only now is my weight loss slowing down (well, according to Shotsy my weekly average has gone from 1.4kg a week to 1.3kg since last week). Am I being too ambitious to dream that I could fit à 10 by the end of may? (I’m also only 2kg away from my Feb 2020 weight - the lowest I’ve been since my early/mid 20’s and the weight I normally start gaining again!)

What would you lovely lot do?

Edited

Is this a Zara item? If so, I think you’ll probably be an M (albeit a loose M) at the end of May. However, we are talking about three months time in which it is perfectly possible that you would be a size 10. If it helps, I have just ordered a Zara dress in a size 10, which I intend to wear at the end of May. I am currently 11 stone 6.2lbs it’s perfectly possible. I might be able to fit into the size S but my boobs probably won’t! In your situation, I’d probably order the size M and have it altered two weeks before your event by a local tailor.

Right off to sort uniforms, school wellies, PE kit, hats/ gloves and lunch boxes etc.
School mums or dads, any lunch box ideas for fussy eaters? Last term we were totally cheese sandwiched out! 😆

A coat update btw is I can now (just!) about do the zip but alas cannot wear it zipped sitting down ( ie driving) but can at least for the freezing school drops!

I really hope the suppression and weight loss will kick back in soon (maybe on the 7.5?) would love soo much to be further along like so many of you lovely lot here

Goodness this takes me back! Is it possible to do some form of wrap? Are used to enjoy doing a cheddar cheese/ham wrap. Sometimes, I used to pack a heated vacuum flask with pasta in it for DD during this time of year. Her favourite, was the Nigella marmite pasta which sounds disgusting but is actually quite lovely. I also used to send in strawberries with a little side pot of whipped cream which shecould dip the strawberries into.

I am aware I made a rod for my own back 🤣

I would also wait until Easter time, and go shopping then. It is so hard to predict weight loss, in particular with the jabs as we don't know if/when side effects hit...
Also my experience was that it took almost 10 kg to go from size 18 to 16, but only 5 kg to go from 16 to (most) 14s...

Thanks all for your comments - I am worried about if selling out, and normally wouldn’t dare order something to slim into but it is really nice.

if it’s still in stock in payday I might just go for in the M and if it’s not fitting by the middle of may, look for a seamstress or something else.

im also noticing quite a different body shape this time around so it may not fit the way I imagine anyway!

Just taste it first if it is rose harrissa as it can be over powering on the rose in some brands. Enjoy!

DH had a go at making his own “nduja” from crumbled chorizo and butter - not sure if it came out exactly as @Mounjaropen makes it, but it was utterly delicious!

That sounds delish! Chorizo is waaaaaaay less spicy than nduja so I reckon a great alternative 👏👏👏👏

We’ve been at this for 3 months and the end of May is another 3 months - I think the M sounds very doable if you’re already finding a 14 loose. I think M is usually 12-14 but aware that Zara is an outlier (been caught by that before). Is it Zara? Why not order both the L and M now and try them on, and then decide based on that? (Or go into the shop and try them on.) You might find that you’re already closer to the M than you think, and you can see where any problem areas are likely to be. Also, if you haven’t tried the dress at all yet you might change your mind when you see it on. But you could be 15 kgs down from now by end May, which is a lot!

Even our heroine Jen Anniston gets her every day t shirts altered by a seamstress despite her being fitter than the proverbial butchers dog, so I’d buy a size bigger now and get altered 2 weeks out from the event.

Go you! 🙌

@IndigoHexagon think the M is a good idea - especially if you try it on and it almost fits? But also check the returns policy. If it is 30 days - you could buy and reassess just before return date as it will be unworn.

After being a bit disheartened the past 2 weeks, I have had a swoooosh!

I am now past the 2 stone mark!

My BMI has dropped from 43 to 38

Its taken 14 weeks to get to this point, an average of 2lb a week

Starting photo that I sent to MedExpress and photo this morning.
photos are being reviewed, hopefully my body isn’t too offensive and they will arrive shortly 🤞

Fantastic! Are you doing the body scan app? You’ve lost a load of inches 🙌

Congratulations!

Yay, congratulations! Look at how baggy that top is now - you’re floating in it! 2 stone is amazing.

Popped on my bra this morning and did it up on the tightest setting as this was where it landed! I have loosened to middle but the loosest setting was getting tight at the start of this journey. Honestly I couldn't have done it alone!

W16 D1 - another 5mg dose. I’m not sure the effects are as strong now (I’ve had a couple of wobbles with a cookie…) but I did manage to avoid making terrible food choices yesterday when I was slightly hungover (a feeling I haven’t missed….!) which is especially impressive considering my family had a McDonald’s in front of me.

S/W 16st 7
C/W 12st 8
G/W 11st ish

I bought a couple of t shirts yesterday to tide me over to goal weight, they were a (Primark) medium. I can’t remember the last time I was a medium. I’ve still been wearing a selection of xl and large that were all far too snug at the start of November, so they’re going to be making their way to the bin. I spoke to DH the other day about clothes and he’s agreed that it’s probably sensible to wait a couple of months until I’m at (or close to) goal weight and make do with what I have at the moment, then I can go and buy a whole new wardrobe for summer. The idea of clothes shopping used to fill me with dread - now I can’t wait!

Pumpkinforever · 24/02/2025 09:24

After a no change last week this week sees another 1lb off so now a 1lb away from being in the 12s. Going up to 3.75 tonight 💪🏻

SW 100.7 kg / 15 stone 12
CW. 83kg / 13 stone 1

Total loss 17.7kg / 2 stone 11lb

Next week will be a whoosh - I can feel it

Pumpkinforever · 24/02/2025 09:28

Well done @WellyBootsandPuddleSuits like you I hated clothes shopping but I reckon come April it will be fine as I will be able to go into shops and find stuff that fits!

My BMI has gone from 40.7 to 33.7 @lovealongbath Your progress is fantastic

Pumpkinforever · 24/02/2025 09:40

@KeepCalmandGiveItaGo great coat update.

I can now comfortably put phone in one pocket, purse in another and then put my hands in the pocket and whoosh coat around me whilst it is zipped up 😂

I keep zipping and unzipping because I can do that with ease. Even though it’s getting warmer I want to get max wear out of it because it will be too big next winter. DH has promised to get me a smaller size next winter!

Cantbesure · 24/02/2025 10:01

Brilliant progress @lovealongbath so much room in that top!

7.5mg is working its magic for me this week. I'm just over 2lbs down from Thursday. Be absolutely amazing if I can sneak another 1lb off this week. The only weeks I've lost more than 2lbs are week 1 and 2. For the first time a couple of people have commented on my weight loss, it's starting to show on my face now.

Lots of mini targets in sight - 1.4lbs away from 1.5 stone; 3lbs away from creeping into the next stone bracket; 4lbs from a healthy BMI. Eek!!

I did a gym induction this weekend and am going back this week to meet with a PT to get a personalised plan. I can't afford PT sessions just yet but this will give me a plan to follow.
