November ‘24 Starters Thread 7 - The one where we might need smaller smalls 😉

1000 replies

Mounjaropen · 06/02/2025 08:15

Welcome to thread 7 to MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we move beyond the looooongest month and into February. Love is in the air for our new smaller selves and discovering clothes we use to wear ❤️

I’m on W14 D4 and on my third 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 9.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 29.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

@lovealongbath thank you so much there isn't anyone I can speak to but just to hear thus from people I don't even know is really nice I love this (little) group ❤️

Thinking of you, @murraymcgill - that’s a lot to be handling! Flowers

I need to do a big shop for the week and am lacking in inspiration. Give me some lovely delicious healthy ideas, please, o wise ones!

What do you like to eat? Are you a meat eater/pescatarian?

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 23/02/2025 09:34

Definitely a meat eater! I am very unfussy and eat most things. I did think I might get a chicken to roast tonight and then use leftovers to make chicken Caesar tomorrow (we make our own dressing) but I’m trying to think of a more interesting recipe for roast chicken rather than just roast potatoes, gravy, veg. Something less stodgy and more colourful.

I sometimes mix a tablespoon of nduja paste with butter and pop that under the skin before roasting. Then whilst the chicken is resting, save the juices and roast veg in the resultant spicy butter.

Maybe choose a spicy salad dressing for the chicken tomorrow?

This is an easy salmon recipe:

I’m also going to make a cod/chorizo/tomato bean stew this week.

Now I’m feeling hungry 😆

Knackered this morning DSS arrested another weekend up in the air every weekend for the last 5/6 months same shit (sorry) bit I'm raging this weekend attempted murder I don't k ow how long his dad can deal with it and we have his GS we take him at weekends through socialwork

I'm so sorry that you have to deal with all if this - it sounds incredibly hard. Sending you an unmumsnetty hug.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 23/02/2025 09:53

Oooh, that traybake looks lovely, @Mounjaropen! Thank you! I also like the sound of nduja paste but I’ve never spotted that in Tesco - would it be near the chorizo etc?

KentishMama · 23/02/2025 09:56

Back from holiday, and I lost 0.5 kg while away! Woohoo!!!

Also I'm in the 70s... For the first time in perhaps 7-8 years. 79.5 kg, but a win is a win!

Non-scale win: I treated myself to two replacement swimsuits as I stumbled across a boutique that had lots of choice. And it wasn't even the largest size!

it’s a salami paste in a jar. I’d probably think it’ll be near the pesto? It is insanely spicy. A little goes a long way!

Boom!

Not-the-biggest-swimsuit-in-the-shop level unlocked 🙌

Congrats on the loss!

Small loss of .3kg over last 10 days-but my goal was to maintain whilst away so taking that as a win.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 23/02/2025 13:37

Failure to find nduja paste in my big Tesco - suspect need trip to M&S instead. Have bought harissa paste instead.

namechangedyetagain · 23/02/2025 13:48

Back from holiday and unsurprisingly I put on a couple of pounds. Will try again this week. Need to jab today as I'm feeling hungry and have just seen off a chocolate muffin. Really hope I can get back on board. Have just ordered my new 7.5 pen for when this one runs out.
If I could lose just a little bit more I'd be happy. Still obese, but much happier than I was. I really noticed the difference in my holiday clothes and felt not too horrible in a swimsuit for a change.

I’d definitely be taking that!

Just trying my first Vinted purchase. I have no idea what I’m doing and feel ancient 😂

Not feeling horrible is a huge win 🙌

Just taste it first if it is rose harrissa as it can be over powering on the rose in some brands. Enjoy!

I stick to having stuff delivered to drop boxes and only use sellers with plenty of reviews after being threatened following reporting a fraudulent item. All good since that. Well worth making an offer if you're after a bargain!

Thanks for the tip.

So what is a drop box and how do I get one?

They have the option on delivery to have it sent to a local shop or one of the InPost set ups they have in places. It's cheaper too! Just select one from the list that's convenient for you

Hey all,
Some advice needed please!

I am attending an event on 25th May which is a gala, black tie type dinner and dance. I’m a jeans and a sweater type of girl, à fancy jumpsuit if I absolutely need to be dressed up. I don’t own anything suitable and even if I did, it would be a much bigger size that I hope to be by the end of May.
Also, whatever I buy it’s likely only going to get worn once so I don’t want to spend a lot. I know I could hire something if I need to.
However I’ve just seen a dress that I really really like and can see myself in and it’s not expensive but I couldn’t afford to buy two. But what size do I go for? The size choices are M or L. It says the medium is a size 10, the medium a 12-14. There are review saying that people who are 14-16 are wearing an L and in their pictures it looks fine.

I am an L now - comfortably in a 14 with some signs already that they getting looser.

Will I jinx my weight loss by being too ambitious and ordering the 10? I’ve gone from 113kg to 85kg since end of October and only now is my weight loss slowing down (well, according to Shotsy my weekly average has gone from 1.4kg a week to 1.3kg since last week). Am I being too ambitious to dream that I could fit à 10 by the end of may? (I’m also only 2kg away from my Feb 2020 weight - the lowest I’ve been since my early/mid 20’s and the weight I normally start gaining again!)

What would you lovely lot do?

I'd be tempted to wait until the end of April and then decide. Or are you worried it will sell out?
