November ‘24 Starters Thread 7 - The one where we might need smaller smalls 😉

1000 replies

Mounjaropen · 06/02/2025 08:15

Welcome to thread 7 to MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we move beyond the looooongest month and into February. Love is in the air for our new smaller selves and discovering clothes we use to wear ❤️

I’m on W14 D4 and on my third 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 9.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 29.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Thank you!

Well done everyone. Bit worried about weigh day this week as been on holiday (lovely) but it has confirmed that even the miraculous MJ is no match for my inability to resist a hotel buffet. I think it is because the food is just there .. and I can't skip any meals as am here with my elderly Mum who can't get to the restaurant without me !!

Well I think hotel buffets are irresistible aren’t they? Hope you’re having a lovely time, don’t beat yourself up too much. Everyone deserves a break and a little bit of what they fancy on their downtime!

Have a fantastic time at lunch and well done on losing!

Let us know what you choose to wear 🥰

Thank you! I’ve just remembered I’ve got a lovely pair of tailored pink wool trousers which I bought last time I lost a lot of weight so that dates them to 2005 🤣 currently walking the dog and considering what to wear with them once I dig them out, literally dust them off and give them a good steam.

The scales start with a 9!!!

This would be my only update for this week if it wasn’t for the fact that all of my measurements have actually gone up on MeThreeSixty. I am flummoxed!

I’m not making it to the gym (don’t have kids in your 40s is my advice here) so what can I do at home advice needed please…

I saw a great post on Instagram this morning about simply putting heavy stuff into a rucksack and using that to get a home workout in https://www.instagram.com/reel/DGU6JHjoanl/?igsh=bDdudTluNGZyYWVu

Morning all! Joining Team Bloated this morning. Went out for dinner last night and gave in to a big fat burger and chips. Seems red meat in those quantities is not my friend any more! Will get on the treadmill at lunchtime and see if I can walk the bloat off. Should have gone to the gym this morning but I made the mistake of getting back into bed after a 5am pee. Rookie error!

I'm not sure anyone could resist a lovely hotel buffet!

@lostinchaos no it won’t! You will eat delicious food everyday for the rest of your life. You just need to keep half an eye on how much of it you’re eating.

I'm nearly at my goal weight and this week I forgot to take my injection. I don’t feel any craving to eat lots of food - i feel so happy with my body that i don’t want to sabotage it. I think my body has adjusted to eating less.

Oooh @starshapedwindow this makes me very excited for the future! I can't wait to be where you are and the fantastic thing about mj is, I know I'll get there.

MsRumpole · 21/02/2025 00:05

It's an interesting thread, and has reinforced for me that for people who have been/are obese there is very little point in following the advice of people who have never been obese. Bodies that have been obese don't work like bodies that haven't been obese.

Agree @MsRumpole people who have never been obese have never lived what we have

jay55 · 21/02/2025 11:10

@Mounjaropen over a pound after wine is an excellent result.

@BeNavyScroller amazing!!!! Must have had a good dance on the scales at that.

Sorry for all others suffering the bloat,
My wind has reduced today after being able to eat a reasonable amount yesterday. I've decided carbs at breakfast helps me fight the bubbles more than gut friendly stuff so I'm leaving yogurt etc for later in the day.

Operation drink more water and less Pepsi max is going well. So even if I've a gain on Monday that is a nsv.

A good morning and a happy Friday everyone!

Well the weight gods must have been listening to me moaning yesterday because I weighed myself this morning and I have hit my 2 stone mark! In fact, exceeded it by 1lb too.

SW: 16 stone 7
(HW: Over 20 stone)
CW: 14 stone 6
TW: 11 stone (with targets of 14 stone and 12 stone 7 on the way. But reaching any half stone marker is also exciting!)

I did promise myself that if I got to 14 7 or below I would treat myself to finally getting my hair highlighted again (it’s been 7 months) so I will book that in soon.

If I get under 14 stone I might book that Botox 🤣

You'll feel like a new woman with those new highlights! Well done!!

It’s such a minefield isn’t it! I’ve had a similar experience reading about acne and rosacea treatments, initially excited about products like ivermectin and tretinoin, then hearing stories of people who have had their skin barrier wrecked or the product has made their rosacea so much worse etc.

Definitely worth reading up on it all to make the best decision eventually. I think I will try Dermatica later this year and see what they do recommend.

I found Skin & Me easier - they start you on a lower dose and titrate up, so I didn't get a reaction like I did with dermatica

PinkArt · 21/02/2025 11:29

Weighing in.

W14D7
SW: 19st 9lbs
CW:16st 13lbs
1st GW: 17st 13lbs
2nd GW 15st 4lbs
TL: 2st 10lb

And she's in the 16s 🥳

Guys I've discovered the key to weight loss and it's to have a fucking awful cold/ bug that might be covid. I've lost 4 pounds this week. I suspect quite a bit has been blown out of my nose or sweated out, but apparently all I need to do to shift some serious weight is to feel like death warmed up.

The last time I was in the 16s was 2019 though so I'm thrilled with that.

evilharpy · 21/02/2025 11:39

@PinkArt funny you say that, I also have a horrible thing that I suspect is covid and have also lost 4lbs this week! Hope you're on the mend soon, it's really not nice at all is it?!

SerenePeer · 21/02/2025 11:48

lines up to be sneezed on by @evilharpy and @pinkart

Whattodowithaminute · 21/02/2025 11:59

Possibly most random NSV to date… I tried surfing with my DS back in August, hips hurt, couldn’t get myself into standing, was much akin to a whale on a surfboard… yesterday we went again… I managed to get into standing many times, much improved balance and agility and I rocked my new swimsuit with confidence! Love being able to do these physical and active things with the kids-weight loss and the reformer Pilates have been the key changes.

It's a vicious fucker. I've had to dose up with paracetamol in the middle of the night as I've been so achy. This is day 5 and I'm feeling a bit better but far from feeling well.
4 pounds is 4 pounds though and I will enjoy that loss when I have the energy to do so!

@PinkArt sorry to hear you’ve been so unwell. Fantastic about the weight loss though! Silver linings!

This is fantastic! Well done!

Also inspired by your update. I have just recently started reformer Pilates. I am incredibly unfit and have no balance (especially since having a C section and fibroid surgery), and am pleased to find that I really enjoy it! Did my third session this lunchtime. Could really feel it today though. My upper body is very weak!

Oh wow! This is my dream too! I tried surfing a couple of times and was so upset by the photos and severe lack of ability, I decided it wasn't for me :-( Nothing quite like a too small wetsuit to humble you and make you feel like absolute 💩 I looked like an overstuffed Orca but with added fat

murraymcgill · 21/02/2025 17:11

2md dose of 10mg hopefully a small lose even 1lb would be great weigh in on sunday

DarkForces · 21/02/2025 17:43

I finally have an 11 in front of my weight! Loss has slowed to less than 1lb a week so think I'm going to move up to 7.5 to get it shifting again

Excellent well done you! I’ve found it the best exercise for me. After a traumatic birth with DS1 which left me with a completely destroyed pelvic floor (then went on to have DS 2 and 3) it’s the only exercise I’ve found that I can do confidently without experiencing incontinence. It will be slowly strengthening my core and pelvic floor as well which is a massive relief. You’ll notice the changes quite quickly
