November ‘24 Starters Thread 7 - The one where we might need smaller smalls 😉

Mounjaropen · 06/02/2025 08:15

Welcome to thread 7 to MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we move beyond the looooongest month and into February. Love is in the air for our new smaller selves and discovering clothes we use to wear ❤️

I’m on W14 D4 and on my third 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 9.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 29.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Morning all! Joining Team Bloated this morning. Went out for dinner last night and gave in to a big fat burger and chips. Seems red meat in those quantities is not my friend any more! Will get on the treadmill at lunchtime and see if I can walk the bloat off. Should have gone to the gym this morning but I made the mistake of getting back into bed after a 5am pee. Rookie error!

Good for you to go on the treadmill at lunchtime 💪💪💪💪

@Mounjaropen over a pound after wine is an excellent result.

@BeNavyScroller amazing!!!! Must have had a good dance on the scales at that.

Sorry for all others suffering the bloat,
My wind has reduced today after being able to eat a reasonable amount yesterday. I've decided carbs at breakfast helps me fight the bubbles more than gut friendly stuff so I'm leaving yogurt etc for later in the day.

Operation drink more water and less Pepsi max is going well. So even if I've a gain on Monday that is a nsv.

Well done on reducing the Pepsi max and the bloat. There have been quite a lot of studies about the effects of aspartame consumption and weight gain so eliminating it from your diet may well help you to keep the weight off long term.

Weighing in.

W14D7
SW: 19st 9lbs
CW:16st 13lbs
1st GW: 17st 13lbs
2nd GW 15st 4lbs
TL: 2st 10lb

And she's in the 16s 🥳

Guys I've discovered the key to weight loss and it's to have a fucking awful cold/ bug that might be covid. I've lost 4 pounds this week. I suspect quite a bit has been blown out of my nose or sweated out, but apparently all I need to do to shift some serious weight is to feel like death warmed up.

The last time I was in the 16s was 2019 though so I'm thrilled with that.

Congratulations! Amazing result. Sorry to hear about the illness tho. Hope you feel better soon 💐

@PinkArt funny you say that, I also have a horrible thing that I suspect is covid and have also lost 4lbs this week! Hope you're on the mend soon, it's really not nice at all is it?!

💐 for you too - hope you feel better soon!

Possibly most random NSV to date… I tried surfing with my DS back in August, hips hurt, couldn’t get myself into standing, was much akin to a whale on a surfboard… yesterday we went again… I managed to get into standing many times, much improved balance and agility and I rocked my new swimsuit with confidence! Love being able to do these physical and active things with the kids-weight loss and the reformer Pilates have been the key changes.

Love this. My gain from Pvolve is that I can wear high heels without my feet hurting like a MF. Strange what Pilates-style classes add to your functional fitness isn’t it?

This is fantastic! Well done!

Also inspired by your update. I have just recently started reformer Pilates. I am incredibly unfit and have no balance (especially since having a C section and fibroid surgery), and am pleased to find that I really enjoy it! Did my third session this lunchtime. Could really feel it today though. My upper body is very weak!

Keep going with it. I’m really surprised how much my strength and posture is improving with Pvolve. They also have a dedicated series for pelvic floor which I’m going to look at. DD’s birth was very traumatic and I had to have surgery to rectify the damage and will probably need the surgery redone again. I’d never even thought that Pilates could help with any of this but I’m going to try and see if it makes a difference before looking at medical intervention.

Oh wow! This is my dream too! I tried surfing a couple of times and was so upset by the photos and severe lack of ability, I decided it wasn't for me :-( Nothing quite like a too small wetsuit to humble you and make you feel like absolute 💩 I looked like an overstuffed Orca but with added fat

…Or being handed what looks like a massive life jacket only to find it won’t do up over your boobs and belly…I’m not returning to those days!

I finally have an 11 in front of my weight! Loss has slowed to less than 1lb a week so think I'm going to move up to 7.5 to get it shifting again

🥳🥳🥳 welcome to the 11’s club!

Excellent well done you! I’ve found it the best exercise for me. After a traumatic birth with DS1 which left me with a completely destroyed pelvic floor (then went on to have DS 2 and 3) it’s the only exercise I’ve found that I can do confidently without experiencing incontinence. It will be slowly strengthening my core and pelvic floor as well which is a massive relief. You’ll notice the changes quite quickly

I meant to tag you into my reply to @Goldleafcat about the pelvic floor series. After consistently doing the Pvolve, I’m now able to do a sit up from lying down without any continence issues which is just brilliant.

🥳🥳🥳 welcome to the 11’s club!

🙌 🙌 It's so long since I was a member! I reckon I've got about another 3 stone to lose so about half way there. 7.5 is on its way as I'm only losing about half a pound a week now so want to accelerate the loss and then start going down to a dose where I maintain at 8.7-9 stone. It feels both achievable and impossible at the same time, but I'm trying to just do it a week at a time and chip away until I reach my goal

Goldleafcat · 22/02/2025 08:33

@Whattodowithaminute @Mounjaropen this all sounds brilliant, really positive.

My muscles are aching today (in a good way) so I can tell it’s doing something!

In other news, my period arrived bang on the date my phone predicted (today), which hopefully means the cycles are settling down after the initial MJ chaos.

Oh, and we have chicken pox in the house 😩

Yes you will! I have never successfully lost weight before MJ

After 14 weeks I think MJ has now trashed my alcohol tolerance. I had a glass of wine and a gin last night and felt id drank loads and felt rough this morning. Not sure how I feel about it. I like a drink!

Moved to 7.5mg and the suppression is currently very strong. I hope this equates to a whoosh on the scales. I've got 3lbs to tip into the next (and final) stone bracket.

I used to be able to....lost a good amount for my wedding and then again back in 2018....but since covid and peri-menopause, nothing moves the scales like mj has! I've been bouncing between the same 7lbs for about 4 years now, which was so bloody depressing. But I'm now the weight I was when I slimmed down for a holiday to Vancouver in 2018. I felt amazing then and there wasn't a single photo that made me cringe. I'm not as fit as I was then but I feel like I'm now at a stage where i can start smashing the gym again 💪🏻
