November ‘24 Starters Thread 7 - The one where we might need smaller smalls 😉

1000 replies

Mounjaropen · 06/02/2025 08:15

Welcome to thread 7 to MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we move beyond the looooongest month and into February. Love is in the air for our new smaller selves and discovering clothes we use to wear ❤️

I’m on W14 D4 and on my third 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 9.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 29.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I tried to use MeThreeSixty but it kept rejecting my side view photo as it said my arms weren’t straight. I tried all sorts of manoeuvres but sadly it still refused. Has anybody else at this problem, and what did you do with your arms that was acceptable in the end? I never thought I had “odd” arms before - a bit chunky, but I never realised they weren’t straight!

There is a fascinating thread on the weight loss channel asking if you are slim, what do you eat everyday. For those of us who have disordered over eating, it would seem that at the other end of the spectrum there is some seriously disordered under eating and an enormous amount of exercising going on to maintain such slim figures. I'm starting to dread my life post mounjaro... it will be so joyless!

StarShapedWindow · 20/02/2025 21:35

@lostinchaos no it won’t! You will eat delicious food everyday for the rest of your life. You just need to keep half an eye on how much of it you’re eating.

I'm nearly at my goal weight and this week I forgot to take my injection. I don’t feel any craving to eat lots of food - i feel so happy with my body that i don’t want to sabotage it. I think my body has adjusted to eating less.

It's an interesting thread, and has reinforced for me that for people who have been/are obese there is very little point in following the advice of people who have never been obese. Bodies that have been obese don't work like bodies that haven't been obese.

A good morning and a happy Friday everyone!

Well the weight gods must have been listening to me moaning yesterday because I weighed myself this morning and I have hit my 2 stone mark! In fact, exceeded it by 1lb too.

SW: 16 stone 7
(HW: Over 20 stone)
CW: 14 stone 6
TW: 11 stone (with targets of 14 stone and 12 stone 7 on the way. But reaching any half stone marker is also exciting!)

I did promise myself that if I got to 14 7 or below I would treat myself to finally getting my hair highlighted again (it’s been 7 months) so I will book that in soon.

If I get under 14 stone I might book that Botox 🤣

That's an amazing result, well done. You have definitely earned your highlights! 👏

It does take a fair bit of faffing about. Did you have your palms placed against your sides firmly and look straight ahead? You have to really clamp them to your sides IME.

There may be less wine, pasta and Cadbury’s but it’ll be balanced out with better clothes and more compliments I reckon 😉

🥳🥳🥳🥳 so happy for you! Congratulations!

I’ve spent the last hour reading Morpheus8 reviews including ‘Morpheus8 ruined my skin” etc 😂

The scales start with a 9!!!

This would be my only update for this week if it wasn’t for the fact that all of my measurements have actually gone up on MeThreeSixty. I am flummoxed!

I’m not making it to the gym (don’t have kids in your 40s is my advice here) so what can I do at home advice needed please…

lostinchaos · 21/02/2025 08:15

Haha I am definitely looking forward to building up my new wardrobe! And I think you are right, it's about finding new pleasures and replacing the old food related ones that made me happy in the short term but ultimately miserable.

Also I feel like people are treating me differently now too... it's amazing how invisible you become when you are overweight and middle aged. But also so sad how fattest people are.

I actually have a bit of news as moving up to 5mg this week has given me a whoosh this week... although my stomach has been in bits as a consequence, so some of it may be water! But the scales say I've lost 4 pounds since Monday and am now only 5 pounds off my goal weight!

It’s such a minefield isn’t it! I’ve had a similar experience reading about acne and rosacea treatments, initially excited about products like ivermectin and tretinoin, then hearing stories of people who have had their skin barrier wrecked or the product has made their rosacea so much worse etc.

Definitely worth reading up on it all to make the best decision eventually. I think I will try Dermatica later this year and see what they do recommend.

Amazing losses @Goldleafcat @lostinchaos @BeNavyScroller 👏

I'm feeling bad as I ordered a maccies last night. I'd been away with friends and whilst I'd been good with food I was not so good with wine and the hangover munchies for the better of me. It was jab day yesterday so really I should have taken it earlier in the day.

I moved up to 7.5mg last night but for the first time in 14 injections I had a dribble of fluid from the injection site. I've found my pens from zava hard to plunge. Maybe because I keep them in the cool bag they sent and they are too cold? Hoping I've got enough MJ in my system to resist any more lapses!

Just get in some La Roche Posay Skin cicaplast balm if you start on stuff like tret it restores compromised skin barriers if they react suddenly.

5 lbs to go is amazing! Hope your tummy calms down soon though.

Pumpkinforever · 21/02/2025 08:59

@lostinchaos @BeNavyScroller @Goldleafcat whoop whoop whoosh👏🏻👏🏻🤩

Hoping for my whoosh next week when I go up to 5mg on Monday.

My Sarah Chapman roller has just arrived, just waiting for Trinny’s Elavator to arrive later today.

Mounjaropen · 21/02/2025 09:34

I’ve only lost 1.4lbs this week but I’ll take that,! I drank wine on a Thursday night for the first time in ages but balanced it out with sashimi for dinner - I’d had steak and eggs for breakfast with DH yesterday when we had a cheeky little jaunt out with the dog so a good protein day which I needed after my Pvolve and 55min incline walk (I wore two sets of arm weights to add resistance to my upper body whilst doing it - go me!) watching the Kardashians (don’t judge) 😆. It’s DH’s Birthday today (hence the Thursday wine and sushi dinner) so we’re off to have a fancy Japanese/Asian for lunch (with wine) I’m actually quite glad we’re not staying at home as we ran out of oil this morning so we’ve no heating… and two of the kids are staying at the weekend (this also happened the last time the eldest stayed) so I’m now on a mission to get oil delivered…this is DH’s only contribution to running the house so he’s annoyed with himself whilst I’m swanning about feeling a bit smug… 😂

Off to choose an outfit for lunch from my new/old wardrobe which is still a novelty!

Let us know what you choose to wear 🥰

If I used a syringe to get 0.7ml of a 5mg pen, what will the dose have been? Thanks!

qotsa · 21/02/2025 09:54

@TooExtraImmatureCheddar it will have been 5.83 👌🏽
