November ‘24 Starters Thread 7 - The one where we might need smaller smalls 😉

1000 replies

Mounjaropen · 06/02/2025 08:15

Welcome to thread 7 to MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we move beyond the looooongest month and into February. Love is in the air for our new smaller selves and discovering clothes we use to wear ❤️

I’m on W14 D4 and on my third 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 9.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 29.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I’ve hit two stone loss and people are starting to notice. Tbh I feel a bit uncomfortable with people commenting and me lying about just dieting.
I must have been spilling out of size 18 clothes as I still haven’t properly gone down a dress size. I’ve always had some size 16 things in my wardrobe with tags on for the day that I lost weight, but unless they’re stretchy then they’re not yet fitting. I seem to be losing it from my upper half, whereas I carry it all on my bottom. Some of the size 16 stretch dresses now fit me, but they’re a bit short and my thighs are still massive, so I won’t be wearing them any time soon. I can’t wait for summer and to hopefully have skinnier legs that I don’t have to hide away.

Edited

It isn't anyone else's business what you are doing though. You are entitled to agency over your own body and you are not doing anything 'wrong' you are investing in yourself. Keep going and start eyeing up the clothes you've always wanted to wear for Summer 💪

Solidarity from me. Exactly the same feelings here this morning! I am still 1lb away from a 2 stone loss, and it is so frustrating! It seems my weight loss has truly stalled. Scales showing my body is faffing about with a couple of pounds on and off again all week.

According to my phone my period is due soon but really I had hoped for more of a loss by now anyway… I’ve started introducing some very limited exercise but doubtful it’s enough to have built muscle.

Will see how I get on this coming week. Keeping fingers crossed we see a 2 stone loss soon!

You'd be amazed how quickly the body forms muscle. Here's hoping for AF to turn up an a following whoosh. I've lost zero this week and have no cycle to blame 😂

I have actually just a thought 🤔

As I definitely have a 5 week pattern, 3 good weekly losses then 2 nothing,
I wonder if it could possibly be the strength weakening in the pen at week 4 and bonus week.

Or maybe I am just clutching at straws, however, the positive is, any other food regime in the past, the way I feel at the moment, I would have cake for breakfast followed by chocolate, but I had protein yogurt and am about to jab so onwards and downwards we go 💪

Could be? I'm at the end of my last pen. I did have a creme egg yesterday before tennis though as I felt a bit wobbly. The amazing thing was I didn't immediately want another straight afterwards. I have been known to eat all 5 in the box and then hide the evidence.... what a bloody glutton I was at some points!

My jeans are too big and I need to buy new. I struggled to feel nice getting dressed yesterday.

So do any of you want size 12 Tu barrel jeans as you also struggle between sizes. They are a generous 12 so very much a 12/14. Lovely fit and fashionable barrel shape.
I have got 2 pairs - one in light wash denim and one in a typical mid indigo. Happy to send inpost if you don’t want to share addresses. Free as I know we are trying to manage our new shapes and wardrobes.

@Mounjaropen are we allowed to share Vinted links on here as we lose and sell on our too big items? Not sure of the forum rules.

What a good idea! As far as I know, it isn't against the rules, people share eBay links on the style and beauty threads. Fire away as far as I'm concerned!

SW: 23 st 6.7lb
CW: 21 st 9.7lb
GW: undecided but would happily settle for maintaining 17-18 stone if that's the best I can do

Weighed in today - a very respectable 2lb off. I am sometimes frustrated not to be losing tons every week, but it occurs to me that I am doing a lot of strength training at the moment and haven't measured my waist circumference since I started!

Mounjaropen · 20/02/2025 10:03

Anewdawnanewname · 20/02/2025 09:18

I’d be interested in seeing what people are selling on Vinted. I don’t sell on there myself, but looking to buy in there when I eventually go down a size.

I think the prices are quite hopeful. I am looking for a particular item out of stock on Zara. It is £9.19 in the sale. Bay has it up at £108, vinted £59.99 (the sticker price) which looking at the pictures, the seller did not pay - looks like they did a trolley dash in the Zara sale, removed the sale sticker and are trying to offer the goods at inflated prices. If you check the Vinted thread on style and beauty there are varying opinions about if it is worth it or not. If you were simply going to donate to landfill you might get a couple of quid for primark type stuff and more for Cos/Reiss etc. Apparently you have to brace yourself for some of the buyers questions 🤔

Get thee on the Methreesixty app and rejoice in the resulting graphs!

And well done on the losses so far!

I have lurked on Vinted as a buyer for a couple of years (signed up to sell baby stuff and ended up just buying things 🤦‍♀️), but a few weeks ago I decided to brave selling some bits and it has honestly been so much easier than I thought it would be. I normally donate to charity shops but I’ve given sooo much away over the years it is nice to see some return (and I also get the nice ‘feeling’ that someone genuinely wants the item when I sell and post it).

Love this!

SW 90kg
CW 75.6 kg

So this week I have lost 0.2 kg

I was a whole 0.8kg lighter on Sunday but my work trip did me no favours at all (too much wine and no options for healthy food) definitely a bit blocked up

anyway am back on it, onwards and downwards (I hope)

Feeling too bloated to tape measure today

Della82 · 20/02/2025 12:03

@lovealongbath I have fluctuating losses which i normally attribute to hormones but this week for me it was definitely wine 😂😂😂😂😂

my cycle does definitely impact my weight loss though, but can’t see a pattern with pen age.

well done on your progress though. muscle gaining does definitely impact the scales

you’ve got this

Pumpkinforever · 20/02/2025 12:12

lovealongbath · 20/02/2025 08:31

Weekly check in

Only 0.4lb of a loss this week which again I don’t think I deserve.
My tdee maintenance is 2500, my average daily is 1500.
I am slowly increasing exercise, averaging 7000 steps daily this week.
I am long through the menopause but I suspect it might be hormonal as I have a pattern of 3 weeks loss then 2 weeks little or no loss

I am disheartened to not have reached the 2 stone mark this week. If I remember correctly , there have been a few folks in our thread that no matter how hard they tried, the scales did not want to reach the 2 stone mark which I think is interesting.

total loss 26.8 lbs

Every gram/ounce down counts!

I am so close to finally getting back into the 12 stone bracket it’s so frustrating. I am certain we are all due a whoosh 💪🏻

keep going everyone

jay55 · 20/02/2025 12:26

@Anewdawnanewname I carry my weight in my hips and thighs but also feel like I'm losing more from my top half.
It's always frustrating.
I know I had chunky thighs even as a teen at 8 stone so don't expect miracles, but legs with some sort of shape would be nice at the end of this.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 20/02/2025 12:27

I’m not really losing at the moment either. I wonder whether it’s more to do with the amount of time we’ve been on the jabs for? Essentially, hitting a 3/4 month plateau. Fingers crossed we all get moving again soon! There are a lot of threads where people say they haven’t lost much on 7.5mg - which most folk are on at month 3. Perhaps it’s the timeframe rather than the dose.

Pumpkinforever · 20/02/2025 12:35

Could be @TooExtraImmatureCheddar there seems to a crawl downwards now. Just so long as it keeps coming off 💪🏻

Arglefraster · 20/02/2025 12:50

For those frustrated by losing from top half rather than bottom (& legs 😆) I think that might be because MJ reduces the visceral (dangerous) fat more (before?!) the subcutaneous fat. So hopefully some comfort knowing it's healthier to lose the fat round organs.

Plus losing fat from inside is always going to look more dramatic than losing a thin layer on the outside.

Personally I have legs like tree trunks & a bum I was always told was genetically provided to ensure the men would be able to swing their kilts 🤣

Slow loser here 😔😔😔

Started 25th Oct
F 50. (3 years post menopause!)
SW 12.7
CW 11.10
Total slow loss 11lbs.

In 15 weeks 🤷🏽‍♀️😖😔

I don't count calories but eat very limited.
& I would be surprised if it was over 12-1600 a day!

A typical day consists of

Bowl of fruit & fibre
Banana
Protein yogurt
Apple & tablespoon of peanut butter
Protein shake
Black coffee x 4
1-2litres of water (not consistently) but average. (I wish I could drink more water)!
1 Cup of tea
1 Highlight hot chocolate with protein collagen powder!

Sometimes I might have a handful of almonds or a small meal scrambled egg on toast!

I don't normally eat meals & tend to graze for mealtimes.

Any suggestions welcomed (I don't cook meals so plain basic food for me)
🙏🏻🫶🏼

Hi FlorenceB19, thank you for your post, has given me encouragement that I’m not alone in the slow losing camp! Have been feeling quite despondent this last month (as, this stuff ain’t cheap! 😅 and had hoped to be in smaller smalls by now…)
Also to see that you meals/ food are simple as this is where I’ve been finding myself. Have you tried the protein yoghurts? They’re quite nice and filling and have found a chocolate mousse one which is nice, it’s a Muller one, 20g of protein.

Still sticking with it though, suppression is a little better than it was 2 weeks ago so is not giving up hope! Also appetite for bread has shrunk which is good. 3rd jab of 5mg on Monday night, might move it to Sunday.

Hope everyone is having a good week. Has been play date central here in half term week and am shattered! More tomorrow…wish me luck! 😂

I think fatigue is to be expected by this point. January is the looooongest month in the world, it's miserable outside and we'd all like to be tucking into the hot chocolate and stuffing our faces with hot cross buns.

Keep the faith- no gain is a bonus, even 600g is to be celebrated! I've lost zero this week but I look thinner. I'll take that!

Gosh I have the Celtic tree trunk legs gene as well. I am not expecting miracles in that area from MJ as I accept they will never be slender but slimmer would be good.

StarShapedWindow · 20/02/2025 17:48

Reading through the last few days of posts it seems like everyone has slowed down a little but I guess we’ve been loosing steadily for three months and we must have lost so much that a slow down must be a natural part of weight loss - I’m sure I’ve read that the last stages of weight loss are the hardest pounds to shift.

Thank you all for sharing your beauty tips - I love products but have never been able to maintain a routine. I’m thinking of Botox because the weight loss has definitely made my skin a bit baggier but I have aunts who have aged naturally and look so beautiful. They are a bit wrinkly but very beautiful- the wrinkles kind of add to their beauty so I’m not sure what to do.

Keep going everyone - won’t it be lovely to be feeling more comfortable in ourselves this summer!
