November ‘24 Starters Thread 7 - The one where we might need smaller smalls 😉

1000 replies

Mounjaropen · 06/02/2025 08:15

Welcome to thread 7 to MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we move beyond the looooongest month and into February. Love is in the air for our new smaller selves and discovering clothes we use to wear ❤️

I’m on W14 D4 and on my third 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 9.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 29.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I have to say, I’m in awe of your skin routines ladies! I am going to buy some cleanser (not sure which @BeNavyScroller and @Arglefraster, but both sound rosacea friendly. But tonight I might try serum and my vibrating wrinkle-roller 😁 Clearly I’m expecting to wake up to miraculous difference tomorrow!

I also hit 2 stone lost today, and that makes me 1 stone off my goal weight. I have been losing 2lbs a week on 5mg, so thinking I will stay on that, but I think it hopefully means I’m 2 pens (with 2 jabs from this one to cushion) from my goal.

However, I am away this weekend and will need to wear a swimming costume so I’m actually looking forward to fitting into it and not!!! 😁

Does loose skin get better with time do we think? I'm 39, for context and trying to lose about 3st.
Stomach was already a bit of a disaster zone after two large babies (so, whatevs), but I'm wondering about thighs, arms, face? Is there anything that can be done?
It's not a big issue yet but I'm only about half way through.

I’m planning on Morpheus8 treatment on my stomach and possibly inner thighs when I reach my goal weight. If you have a quick google, you can see if it is the sort of thing you want. I will have a crepey tummy after weight loss so considering this seriously at the moment. It is c£299 per treatment around here.

I've been on 5mg since November but my weight loss has really slowed down this month. I'm glad that I've ordered a 7.5mg pen to move up to as I've only got 8lbs left to lose to get me to a healthy BMI. I'm going on holiday tomorrow and have got a travel case with a cold compartment for my pen. I'm taking my 5mg pen with two doses left in it and have put the needles in my hold luggage. I'm hoping that I won't have any problems getting through security with the pen. I'm not too worried about Heathrow but I'm transiting through Houston and had a nightmare last year at security there. They were really aggressive and I'm just hoping they don't question me about the pen. I've printed off the prescription letter from Asda just in case.

I've packed dried prunes in my hold luggage too as my constipation has been quite unpleasant recently. 😂 I'm travelling to a few remote areas and I'm not sure what the food offerings will be like. I'm veggie and often end up with random meals when I'm travelling as not all countries understand the concept of meat-free meals. I think Cuba was the worst but Peru was a close second. I haven't bought many new clothes so most of my holiday clothes are pretty baggy but as it will be hot where I'm going I'm not too bothered. Wish me luck!

Good luck! And have a wonderful time!

My mum has been saying for years that we all eat too much food. She was on post-menopause size portions. She would eat starters or kids portions. But I have to say, I now get her point and it amazes me how much food most restaurants serve. I think it would be so much better if the offered two sizes of portions because the assumption that we should all eat the same is hot helping anyone!

I live in quite a footballers wives type area 😆 so tbf most dishes on local menus are available in both the starter and a main size which is very helpful!

Don’t take that comment personally, it is quite rude of whoever made that comment. If in doubt, you don’t need to refer to any perceived relationship.

As Jimmy Carr once said “I’d rather see a pregnant woman stand on the tube than make a fat woman cry”

Having been offered a seat more than once 'because you're pregnant' I've always appreciated that line of his.

Hi all,

Has anyone used syringes to inject? I just did that for the first time. Now I'm panicking that I think I saw there was an air bubble in it. I'm now having a complete blank. Did I tap it? Did I prime? Am I in for certain death?

I injected at an angle as it's a longer needle. Any reassurance that I'll make it through the night will be gratefully received!

Thanks.

Do any of you have Botox/filler type treatments? I'm 41 and with the weight loss, the lines around my eyes are starting to bother me and my cheek bones seem to have dropped half way down my face... 😂 I am of the opinion that there is something very sophisticated and beautiful about ageing gracefully and as naturally as possible, and so have been nervous about any tweakments up until now. Also the chubbier cheeks hid a lot of the fine lines! But I am seriously considering some ideally subtle treatments to go with the size 10 jeans I am getting closer to fitting in to. but I'm clueless and don't know where to go or what to ask for!

I have botox around my eyes. My advice would be to find an aesthetician with medical training - nurse, dentist etc. Much safer imho. Too much or an injection in the wrong place and it can look awful and have lasting consequences. A good aesthetician will make you look 'fresher', 'glowing' not frozen!

SerenePeer · 19/02/2025 22:13

That's exactly what I did @Mounjaropen ! Yoga for constipation sorted me right out!

Hiya
An air bubble isn't a danger in a subcutaneous injection. It's not ideal because it reduces the volume of MJ & might cause pain but it's really nothing to worry about.
Hope that sets your mind at ease but you can look up the same information online to reassure yourself

New stone - back into the 13s!

Now some of the actually nice clothes I bought while gaining weight are fitting again (the things I bought before I have up entirely and resorted to hoodies withleggings and joggers).

Someone asked about botox (phone won't scroll sorry) - I have it on my 11s only as they are quite deep and I tend to look a bit pissed off on Teams calls. It makes a massive difference. I have very deep nasolabial lines and keep considering fillers but really worried about ending up with that overfilled look.

Weekly check in

Only 0.4lb of a loss this week which again I don’t think I deserve.
My tdee maintenance is 2500, my average daily is 1500.
I am slowly increasing exercise, averaging 7000 steps daily this week.
I am long through the menopause but I suspect it might be hormonal as I have a pattern of 3 weeks loss then 2 weeks little or no loss

I am disheartened to not have reached the 2 stone mark this week. If I remember correctly , there have been a few folks in our thread that no matter how hard they tried, the scales did not want to reach the 2 stone mark which I think is interesting.

total loss 26.8 lbs

Congrats on the new stone bracket! 🥳

I’m now in my 11’s and can say that my marionette lines are going as I lose weight. Personally, I’d wait until you are at target before making a decision on fillers. If you look at our patron saint of this thread, Jennifer Anniston 😉 she looks ‘stuffed’ in shows like The morning Show because of them. And I luffs her. Ditto Amanda Holden and pretty much all of the real housewives.

Solidarity from me. Exactly the same feelings here this morning! I am still 1lb away from a 2 stone loss, and it is so frustrating! It seems my weight loss has truly stalled. Scales showing my body is faffing about with a couple of pounds on and off again all week.

According to my phone my period is due soon but really I had hoped for more of a loss by now anyway… I’ve started introducing some very limited exercise but doubtful it’s enough to have built muscle.

Will see how I get on this coming week. Keeping fingers crossed we see a 2 stone loss soon!

I'm 14 weeks in and have 'only' lost 1.5st, to give some perspective. Keep going, you'll get there.

Anewdawnanewname · 20/02/2025 08:47

I’ve hit two stone loss and people are starting to notice. Tbh I feel a bit uncomfortable with people commenting and me lying about just dieting.
I must have been spilling out of size 18 clothes as I still haven’t properly gone down a dress size. I’ve always had some size 16 things in my wardrobe with tags on for the day that I lost weight, but unless they’re stretchy then they’re not yet fitting. I seem to be losing it from my upper half, whereas I carry it all on my bottom. Some of the size 16 stretch dresses now fit me, but they’re a bit short and my thighs are still massive, so I won’t be wearing them any time soon. I can’t wait for summer and to hopefully have skinnier legs that I don’t have to hide away.

lovealongbath · 20/02/2025 08:49

I have actually just a thought 🤔

As I definitely have a 5 week pattern, 3 good weekly losses then 2 nothing,
I wonder if it could possibly be the strength weakening in the pen at week 4 and bonus week.

Or maybe I am just clutching at straws, however, the positive is, any other food regime in the past, the way I feel at the moment, I would have cake for breakfast followed by chocolate, but I had protein yogurt and am about to jab so onwards and downwards we go 💪

BeNavyScroller · 20/02/2025 08:55

My jeans are too big and I need to buy new. I struggled to feel nice getting dressed yesterday.

So do any of you want size 12 Tu barrel jeans as you also struggle between sizes. They are a generous 12 so very much a 12/14. Lovely fit and fashionable barrel shape.
I have got 2 pairs - one in light wash denim and one in a typical mid indigo. Happy to send inpost if you don’t want to share addresses. Free as I know we are trying to manage our new shapes and wardrobes.

@Mounjaropen are we allowed to share Vinted links on here as we lose and sell on our too big items? Not sure of the forum rules.

Ah this is a lovely offer!

I still have quite some way to get to a 12/14 (and have actually bought a size 16 pair of the same jeans!), so hopefully someone else will benefit, but I do love your idea of sharing vinted links for when we start moving down in our wardrobes 😀

I’d be interested in seeing what people are selling on Vinted. I don’t sell on there myself, but looking to buy in there when I eventually go down a size.

I have lurked on Vinted as a buyer for a couple of years (signed up to sell baby stuff and ended up just buying things 🤦‍♀️), but a few weeks ago I decided to brave selling some bits and it has honestly been so much easier than I thought it would be. I normally donate to charity shops but I’ve given sooo much away over the years it is nice to see some return (and I also get the nice ‘feeling’ that someone genuinely wants the item when I sell and post it).
