November ‘24 Starters Thread 7 - The one where we might need smaller smalls 😉

1000 replies

Mounjaropen · 06/02/2025 08:15

Welcome to thread 7 to MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we move beyond the looooongest month and into February. Love is in the air for our new smaller selves and discovering clothes we use to wear ❤️

I’m on W14 D4 and on my third 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 9.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 29.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I’d recommend MedExpress. Might not be the cheapest butThey do answer your queries and check with you if you go up, down or stay on a dose. I’ve got a code if you need one.

@Mounjaropen
i did try to swap to them last year but they rejected all my photos, took forever to refund me and didn't really impress me. i must be hard work!

i did email oushk about maintenance and liked their response/approach.

if anyone has a discount code for them, feel free to DM me as i may swap this month.

i also don't feel like i've corrected my eating habits.

still grabbing things that aren't great when i'm busy and haven't planned things properly.

i've only had one takeaway since i started and it was fine but didn't hit the spot so not bothered about that again in a hurry.

i do feel like i have an increased sweet tooth which is odd as i never really did before.

i must be a lost cause 😂

enjoying fitting into my nice clothes though

evilharpy · 19/02/2025 07:19

0.6lb from the next stone, my goal has been to get into this stone (13s) for a night out at the start of March so will hopefully make it with weeks to spare!

I think I’m right in saying Oushk don’t do referral codes, just codes available to everyone. Sorry to hear about your medexpress experience. Congratulations on the new/old wardrobe tho!

New eating habits take time to form but I do think that the key is spending 15-20 mins prepping healthy/tasty alternatives to avoid reaching for nutritionally invalid food. Could you start there? Keep going!

@BeNavyScroller Wow that is impressive! Glad to hear you’re finding a difference with it. Please could I ask what are the skin boosters? Is it like a hydrafacial?

I’ve been looking at Dermatica after hearing good things. What active ingredients are in the redness treatment? Is it Azelaic acid? Or tretinoin? I’ve heard that the tretinoin is good for acne (one of my bugbears) and actually good for fine lines too.

Cantbesure · 19/02/2025 09:28

@Goldleafcat I've had rosacea treatment from both skin&me and dermatica. I've got a code for both if you DM me. From dermatica I had antibiotics, ivermectin and niacinamide. From skin&me it was azaelic acid and niacinamide. I wanted the ivermectin as my rosacea is linked to derma mites.

It did mean stopping my tretonoin though which I'd like to get back to. For both you send pictures of your skin and say what the main issue is you want to tackle.

SerenePeer · 19/02/2025 10:08

Ah the dreaded constipation has arrived this morning. I've been for a run, a brisk dog walk and there's no action. Nervous to try anything that will be too aggressive in the other direction! 🙈

my dermatica formula is
Ivermectin 1%/ Metronidazole 0.75%/ Azelaic acid 15%

I also got vitamin c for the morning.

I am now just starting to add 20% azelaic acid in the morning every few days as I didn’t want to overdo it initially.

Once the redness is under control I want to swap it to more anti aging and tretinoin, I have noticed my pigmentation is improving too which I’m guessing is the azelaic acid.

Ive got a £10 referral code if it’s any use. Not sure how that compares to their other offers as I clicked on a £2.49 for 3 months link. If you can’t use them together I’d look at their social media offers before £10 discount.

Skin boosters are hyluronic acid injections. Like moisturiser but under the skin I guess.

@Mounjaropen definitely an improvement in fine lines. I’d say I just look a bit plumper without it being as obvious as surgery or a lot of filler. Never had Botox.

Pumpkinforever · 19/02/2025 11:00

Just been on Trinny London website and order Elavator product for neck - fingers crossed

Pumpkinforever · 19/02/2025 11:36

Think product was mentioned by @MsRumpole and @lostinchaos

Also getting Sarah Chapman massage thing as mentioned by @Mounjaropen and @BeNavyScroller I think

Need all the help I can get. You lot are costing me money 😂

lostinchaos · 19/02/2025 13:27

Do any of you have Botox/filler type treatments? I'm 41 and with the weight loss, the lines around my eyes are starting to bother me and my cheek bones seem to have dropped half way down my face... 😂 I am of the opinion that there is something very sophisticated and beautiful about ageing gracefully and as naturally as possible, and so have been nervous about any tweakments up until now. Also the chubbier cheeks hid a lot of the fine lines! But I am seriously considering some ideally subtle treatments to go with the size 10 jeans I am getting closer to fitting in to. but I'm clueless and don't know where to go or what to ask for!

MsRumpole · 19/02/2025 13:51

Well, it's taken me two 5mg pens to get there but apparently I am now a "just a starter please" person

I don't carry a huge amount of weight around my face (apart from my eyelids, argh) so have ruled it out for the moment. I always thought I would lean into ageing, but then I got mistaken for my daughter's grandmother and that was the end of that (I'm 49 which I accept is technically grandparent aged but I need more lead-in time)

jay55 · 19/02/2025 14:55

I'm full of wind, feel like a balloon about to burst. So uncomfortable. Food noise popping up every few hours. Weight is up. I'm on day 34 of my cycle so maybe a period is imminent(peri so cycle is an optimistic term).
Today is a struggle for sure.

Oceangrey · 19/02/2025 15:02

Does loose skin get better with time do we think? I'm 39, for context and trying to lose about 3st.
Stomach was already a bit of a disaster zone after two large babies (so, whatevs), but I'm wondering about thighs, arms, face? Is there anything that can be done?
It's not a big issue yet but I'm only about half way through.

LilyRose88 · 19/02/2025 16:44

I've been on 5mg since November but my weight loss has really slowed down this month. I'm glad that I've ordered a 7.5mg pen to move up to as I've only got 8lbs left to lose to get me to a healthy BMI. I'm going on holiday tomorrow and have got a travel case with a cold compartment for my pen. I'm taking my 5mg pen with two doses left in it and have put the needles in my hold luggage. I'm hoping that I won't have any problems getting through security with the pen. I'm not too worried about Heathrow but I'm transiting through Houston and had a nightmare last year at security there. They were really aggressive and I'm just hoping they don't question me about the pen. I've printed off the prescription letter from Asda just in case.

I've packed dried prunes in my hold luggage too as my constipation has been quite unpleasant recently. 😂 I'm travelling to a few remote areas and I'm not sure what the food offerings will be like. I'm veggie and often end up with random meals when I'm travelling as not all countries understand the concept of meat-free meals. I think Cuba was the worst but Peru was a close second. I haven't bought many new clothes so most of my holiday clothes are pretty baggy but as it will be hot where I'm going I'm not too bothered. Wish me luck!

My mum has been saying for years that we all eat too much food. She was on post-menopause size portions. She would eat starters or kids portions. But I have to say, I now get her point and it amazes me how much food most restaurants serve. I think it would be so much better if the offered two sizes of portions because the assumption that we should all eat the same is hot helping anyone!

I think it’s a hugely personal choice, but I absolutely would not go to anybody other than a qualified doctor for fillers. Just be aware that fillers can migrate and can also granulate and it really is hugely dependent on the type of skin that you have hence why you should say a qualified Doctor who specialises in this area. It is not the case that you can dissolve all types of filler so do your research. I have a friend who has had lip filler but has ended up with a Leslie Ash type situation…

Botox is readily available with qualified nurses but you should go on the recommendation from somebody who’s actually used them not the word of someone from Instagram but stay away from beauty salons for this sort of thing. You can ask for Botox around the eye area if you have fine lines and wrinkles, one of my friends has this done and it’s quite effective.

in terms of around the eye area, most common practice is something called a tear trough filler however if you have (like I do) something called festoons around your eyes, then no amount of tear travel filler will make eyebags look better, my only option is surgery and at this point, I don’t want to do it.

Not sure that this has been helpful, but I would say research research research!

Have you tried googling exercises for constipation and pressure points for relieving constipation? I did this in the early days and it did get things moving. Alternatively, add a kiwi fruit to your diet every day.

Don’t take that comment personally, it is quite rude of whoever made that comment. If in doubt, you don’t need to refer to any perceived relationship.

As Jimmy Carr once said “I’d rather see a pregnant woman stand on the tube than make a fat woman cry”

Lean into it and eat some protein. It might calm the food noise. Hope AF arrives soon followed by a whoosh!
