November ‘24 Starters Thread 7 - The one where we might need smaller smalls 😉

1000 replies

Mounjaropen · 06/02/2025 08:15

Welcome to thread 7 to MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we move beyond the looooongest month and into February. Love is in the air for our new smaller selves and discovering clothes we use to wear ❤️

I’m on W14 D4 and on my third 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 9.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 29.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Hope you feel better after a good sleep and a coffee.

Long time reader, first time poster :), I started in Mid November. SW- 14.2st CW-11.12st GW- 9.2. So a ways to go, but getting there :).
i have a question regarding bonus doses…. Where do you source the needles from, looking for the smallest one possible, I HATE needles 😂. Ideally online, I need to make use of the bonus doses I have stashed away, I’m on 10mg at the moment but have a 7.5mg pen saved for the bonus dose and a 10mg pen saved for the bonus dose. Apologies if I’ve missed links and dose info on this previously….

Congrats on the amazing loss! And welcome!

I can't help you with the needle Q as I am a total wuss. Someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly I'm sure.

@Mounjaropen coffee done painkillers took so of to get ready for my day out with my caravan neighbour
Enjoy your day everyone

MsRumpole · 18/02/2025 11:25

Well, it must have been food poisoning as it was over eight hours later. Not much fun though. Scales suggest I lost 6lb overnight but we'll see if that is still the case on Thursday!

murraymcgill · 18/02/2025 11:51

@MsRumpole that happened last week to me a 3 days sickness and diarrhea and lost 6lb and it was bad but I was happy with the loss haha good luck on Weigh day

I’d take that as the silver lining from an awful situation 💐

These are the ones I've used https://www.shdmedical.co.uk/needles/bbraun-omnican-1ml-30g-syringe-individually-blister-packed/?
Just a reminder though that the advice is to not use a pen more than 30 days after it was first used though.

Pumpkinforever · 18/02/2025 12:07

@Idunno8. I am assuming that those pens with the bonus dose are unused.

I use UK Medi https://ukmedi.co.uk/?gad_source=1

I ordered 1 mil unifix luer lock syringe pack of 10 along with 10 31g Light Blue 6mm Meso-relle Mesotherapy Needle.

so that means I use one light blue needle to extract the dose and then replace it with another to inject myself. Really easy to do.

Pumpkinforever · 18/02/2025 12:11

Update. Still not yet 13 stone so really annoyed. 13 stone 2 - another pound off but I feel like I need a whoosh. I have another two jabs left on this pen if I use the bonus dose but starting to feel that 2.5mg is no longer doing its thing

Cantbesure · 18/02/2025 12:18

@Idunno8 I use these ukmedi.co.uk/products/fms-micro-syringe-32g-8mm-1ml-fms-fms-32g-10ml-ukmedi-co-uk

This is a useful video although jt uses a vial not the pen. But the idea is the same. I don't change needles just as they wouldn't in a hospital if they were drawing medicine out before injecting you. I wipe the seal of the pen before I use these syringe.

I wouldn't go back and use up old pens though. The guidance is that pens should be used 30 days after they have been opened. I might personally stretch this to 35 days but not a pen from months ago.

Looking at this earlier. SmartBMI says I am overweight not obese😂. Now that’s cheating. I would love to be NHS overweight which is a big goal.

A NSG (non scale goal is to be able to wearing my wedding ring comfortably without the fear that the only way to remove it is to chop my finger off. It’s okay now when my hand is cold.

Oceangrey · 18/02/2025 12:34

I have the opposite... A ring I wear all the time is slightly loose and keeps falling to the side. I'll have to stop wearing it and get it adjusted once my weight is stable. It won't fall off but it's just annoying now.

Idunno8 · 18/02/2025 12:39

Thanks for your help, links and advice, really appreciated ❤

I have also stalled over the last couple of weeks and have battled hunger pangs and cravings, so today I've bitten the bullet and increased to 5ml after sticking with 2.5ml since November. I'm a bit nervous about the side effects but really want a whoosh to get closer to my goal weight. I am skiing in 6 weeks and really would love to get there by then!

Let us know what your bloods revealed (if you don’t mind?) I was thinking of asking my GP for a full blood screen. I’ve not had my thyroid checked ever and would like to be reassured about my liver function now I’m on MJ. Anyone asked this of their GP?

39.0 mmol/mol, which puts my blood sugars back into normal and out of pre diabetes 🥳
I've got a different type of blood sugar test on Monday but I'm hoping it says the same. It's the top end of normal, so room for improvement, but that's such a good NSV.
I've got a hideous cough lurgy this week so am really feeling the vision of health this suggests!

Goldleafcat · 18/02/2025 09:47

I was honestly unaware that so many friends had tried it until these past few weeks when I specifically mentioned in conversation I was looking at what treatments were out there (in convos about the joys of getting older). They were happy to tell me about it and how great they found it. I am now very tempted!

I’m still intrigued by polynucleotides treatments but it looks like you should have at least 3 treatments (£££) and have also read mixed reviews about how effective people found it.

However, if money was no object… 🤭

I’ve had one treatment of polynucleotides (end of December), microneedling and skin boosters (end of January). My skin is insane! So much better.

caveat- I’m not drinking since MJ so I’m sure that’s had an impact. I’ve started on anti redness from dermatica so a new regime in last few weeks which I think is also helping in terms of clarity.

The plumpness and general look I’m putting down to the treatments.

I’m going to do another polynucleotides next week or week after, peel in between and skin boosters the month after. Then I think repeat it all so in 7 months I’ll have done 3 poly and 3 skin boosters with micro needle/chemical peel roughly monthly too. Might space that out a bit.
Fantastic January offer has set me up for the year.

i guess I could use next week jab plus some of the bonus to move up. My proper 5mg in in the fridge waiting for me and I could do a staging dose next week

Cantbesure · 18/02/2025 18:59

I'm in awe of those of you that have stayed at 2.5mg. I'd hoped to do the same but I'm already regretting not going up to 7.5mg this week. 6.25mg isn't curbing the hunger.

Everyone’s body is different though so we’ll all react differently to the same amount of MJ. My Next Door neighbour had to stop as she couldn’t tolerate even 2.5mg.

I have the same problem with my wedding ring. Once I’ve reached target, I’ll get it resized, but this is a great, cheap solution in the meantime. You just cut the coil where you need, and there’s plenty on the strip to do other rings, or to take it off and put a longer piece on when it goes loose again.
