November ‘24 Starters Thread 7 - The one where we might need smaller smalls 😉

1000 replies

Mounjaropen · 06/02/2025 08:15

Welcome to thread 7 to MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we move beyond the looooongest month and into February. Love is in the air for our new smaller selves and discovering clothes we use to wear ❤️

I’m on W14 D4 and on my third 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 9.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 29.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Anyone know how to soothe nettle stings?!

We went out for a walk and my foot got trapped in something and I went flying to the ground. A lovely old man helped me up 😳. Luckily not hurt apart from my hand landed in some nettles. No dock leaves in sight. We’re a good few hours on and it’s still stinging!

Anti histamines?

Apply Hydrocortisone cream if you have any or or baking soda mixed with water or milk.

It's great hearing about everyone's progress.

I've not lost anything this week but that's as expected because I've been out four evenings, and one lunch, and some of those involved quite a lot of drinking. Actually I feel quite gross and like I want a week of eating super healthy and moving more. Not because I should but because I want to.

My work generally does involve a lot of lunches and dinners, and it's not the biggest trial(!) but not great for weight loss.

So the stats are still:
5' 3
SW 13st 3lb
CW 12st 13lb

In other news, I found a smaller version of a favourite skirt on vinted, then was annoyed I'd ordered a much smaller one two sizes down not one size (US sizing confused me). But it fits! Only just and it's a little elasticated but it's wearable.

But you haven’t gained which I bet you would’ve done previously 💪🏻

My wake up call was when my 6 year old grandson said “ Gran, why are you so fat?”
He didn’t ask in malice, wasn’t being nasty, just the innocent truth coming out of the mouth of babes.

Kids are brutal 😩

I got a 'you have a fat tummy' from my niece 😭Thankfully she said the same thing about her big sister, who really doesn't, which softened the blow slightly.

Dock leaves - rub them on the stings. Maybe not the easiest solution if you’re back in the house, though!

Hi

Im an oldie, 53, been overweight all my life. I’m type 2 and after a stay in hospital my GP suggested trying MJ.

I had a 12 week review, my blood sugar is below pre diabetic, cholesterol levels down to normal and my BP also normal.

My GP (bit of a rebel) started me on 7.5mg, up to 10mg after 4 weeks then 12.5mg after a further 4 weeks. I stayed on 12.5mg for a second pen as I was due my review and my diabetic nurse has put it up to 15mg for my next prescription.

I have lost 3 1/2 stone in 14 weeks.

HW 16 stone +
MJ SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 4lb

This drug has literally changed my life already.

Now a size 12, from 18-20, shopping like a looney on Vinted and keeping the local charity shop supplied with my outgrown clothes.

The only side effect is constipation xx

Oooh, did he say why he started you on 7.5mg instead of 2.5? That’s interesting. Congratulations on the health marker tests and the weight loss, that’s fabulous progress!

Oh wow this is inspirational! You’ve done so well! And it’s personally great for me to hear as the lower doses have had a very limited effect for me - I’m on second pen of 7.5 which I am regretting at the Mo (though am battling on will willpower and have started Pilates). Def moving to 10mg asap

Hope it’s calmed down now, but if not, keeping washing with soap. Several times.
I read baking soda is helpful too!

IHateMozzies · 16/02/2025 21:20

Thanks for all the advice. Had some antihistamines which has helped a bit, but it still feels like pins and needles. Couldn’t find any baking soda!

I can’t remember if I posted back in November but started on 17th Nov.

Age 45
SW 13st 3
CW 10st 12
GW 10st 7

I’ve stayed on 2.5mg throughout but just bought a 5mg pen and will move up to 3mg next jab by counting clicks.

OliviaFlaversham · 16/02/2025 21:53

Started 2/11/24 and these are how many pounds I’ve lost each month. Ive gone up a pen each month and on 10 now but think I’ll stay on 10 next month too as I need to now add in more exercise and want to be able to add more food (protein) in to help with that. 10 has felt so different for me in terms of suppression. I didn’t have that really before. Gone from my size 22s being tight to a 16/18.

I am reading Ultra-Processed People and trying to retrain my brain whilst having the huge crutch of the injections. Anyone got any good books/podcasts I could add in?

I think Ultra processed people is probably the leading authority on this area of food production. I’d it help creating healthy alternatives that you need or is it CBT-style information?

Wow! That's amazing. That's 5 stone in less than 4 months (have I worked that out right?)

I started at the same time and have lost just over 2 stone (which seems painfully slow compared to some) yet somehow I've also gone from a tight 22 to an 18.

Me too. I've discovered why it's so hard for me to not be obese though. My daily calorie allowance to lose weight at even 2lb a week is tiny and so I'm aiming for slow steady loss and really focusing on eating a variety of healthy small meals. So jealous of tall people but honestly it's no wonder I couldn't maintain a healthy weight. A few treats really cost me. I'm being so much kinder to myself about my weight gain since I've understood this...and treating myself to nice skincare and dresses you can see my knees in instead of chocolate!

Cantbesure · 17/02/2025 08:59

Same here @DarkForces I'm very tiny (height only) and my calorie requirement is so low. Sadly I have the appetite of a 6 foot man 😂 it's easy to see why I've put weight on and maintaining will always be an effort. I will be calorie counting for life I think. 5lbs away from a healthy BMI. Which is about 5 weeks away 🤞

WellyBootsandPuddleSuits · 17/02/2025 09:05

W15D1 - 11th 5mg dose taken (third pen started today) unless something drastically changes, I think I’m going to ride out the rest of my MJ journey on this dose, hopefully only another two ones (after this one) to go

S/W 16st 7
C/W 12st 10
G/W 11st ish

This week’s challenge is half term… aka a week of, historically, being driven to wine as soon as bedtime is done! My wine habit was definitely a huge contributor to my weight - I still enjoy a glass, but I can leave an open bottle for another day which used to seem criminal! That’s one positive change I am sure I can keep going after the jabs, but high will help when I get to maintenance.

Although I still have the better part of 2st to go, I have started to think about what the end of my MJ story will look like (hopefully anyway). If I can get anywhere near 11.5st on this and my next pen, then I’m going to use my 6th pen to drop down to maybe 2.5mg for a few weeks, then 1.25mg before stopping completely. I would love to stay on them longer, not to keep losing weight but to keep the food noise away while I try to maintain, but unfortunately, I just can’t justify the cost on an ongoing basis. I may change my mind in a couple of months when reality hits, and I know we could find the money if I really wanted to, but I’m hoping I’ll have re-trained my brain and body enough over 6 months to be able to stick to what I’ve learnt!!

Has anyone else thought about Life After Mounjaro?

jay55 · 17/02/2025 09:11

Morning, welcome to Monday.
0.6kg off this week, every little helps.
I'm celebrating losing 7 weeks in a row and hitting 10.25kg down since November.
Last of my current pen this morning. I have both a .5 and .75 in the fridge and still unsure which way I'll go.
I get good suppression etc mon-fri then not much over the weeekend. But I am still over 90kg and my cals are too low in the week so the weekend evens things up.

Hope everyone has a good week.

Ozempic is ruining my social life (and I’m not taking it)

https://www.thetimes.com/article/f88e4458-2112-498e-8a2a-24ba6aa67a43?shareToken=5c1d108825750faf28e8692787e15170

This article has really irritated me today - once again, it’s suggesting that people are lying to get the drugs. It also says that people feel undigested food stuck in their throats (wtf?). And what business is it of hers if her friends want to eat less? If they want to order a couple of courses and then leave half of it, so what? At the age of 29 she also ain’t seen nothing yet when it comes to weight gain and dieting. Doesn’t stop her judging, though.
