November ‘24 Starters Thread 7 - The one where we might need smaller smalls 😉

1000 replies

Mounjaropen · 06/02/2025 08:15

Welcome to thread 7 to MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we move beyond the looooongest month and into February. Love is in the air for our new smaller selves and discovering clothes we use to wear ❤️

I’m on W14 D4 and on my third 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 9.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 29.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I love trinny London products and I use the elevator. I think it has really helped with neck sagging actually. Haven't found anything to combat my saggy inner thighs or flat bottom yet sadly! Grin

Despite all of my Pvolve, my inner thighs look like a set of festoon blinds from the 1980’s 😂

As I shrink in size, I too am noticed how much in denial I was about my size! I was always proud of my muscly legs but turns out, a lot of it was fat not muscle! And my neck has shrunk - wtf?!

Me too! I was with good friends yesterday, and it’s quite clear that everyone thought I was a massive fat cow but didn’t like to say. I think I’ve got reverse body dysmorphia because I genuinely didn’t think I looked as bad as I obviously did. 😂

Love is your husband ordering a sharing platter in a restaurant when out with a big group of friends so that nobody notices how little you eat thanks to mj! He's a keeper.

That’s lovely 🥰

Hit my 3 stone today (started 16th Nov).

Still getting nausea for a day or two after jabbing. It’s like my food won’t go down, gets stuck in my oesophagas, then makes me feel sick. Still it’s not forever

Need to get my BMI to 40 for surgery, currently down to 45 from 51, so well on my way.

Still having a psychological reaction to the actual jab .. I throw up every time.

Hoping it all settles with time

Three stones is amazing! Congratulations!💪🏻💪🏻

well done @ExtraOnions 3 stones is a great achievement

keep him @SerenePeer

i have another 3 stone to go. I might consider surgery to tidy lose skin in a years time if it is too horrendous but only one lot. I was weighing up (😂) the idea of arms but maybe do neck instead. I have to be realistic given my age and the amount of time I have been obese

My friend recently had skin removal surgery following bariatric surgery, it isn’t for the faint hearted, and you are left with a lot of scarring. She does look amazing though.

Morning all down to 12.8 but for the life of me I don't even know what I was last week 😅 in happy anyway but has a humongous cold sore

Congratulations on the weight loss! I’d recommend licorice balm for the cold sore. It also stops recurrence.

Right! Following turkey neck discussions, I am hoping you wonderful ladies (not excluding the gents but think this is more an womens issue?) can offer any advice on face treatments for face jowls!!! I have really sensitive skin (and with peri-menopause have developed Rosacea), but the jowls are something it would be great to shift or minimise if I can! I must confess to having zero skincare regime.

My other question is are any of you getting REALLY flyaway hair? It maybe that I have changed conditioner, but I also have a sensitive scalp (🤦‍♀️), so I had to change because my old one was creating a really inflamed bit. But the flyaway/static is really annoying. Not sure if it is hair changes with Mounjaro!

Any thoughts/advice/magic solutions would be very welcome 😁

I have a nu face device which I’m using on my jowls at the moment. I have to say as I am losing more weight, the jowls are slowly disappearing so don’t panic!

A good skin care regime will include cleansing (double cleansing if you wear make up), then treat the skin (serums etc) followed by moisturiser and SPF as a final layer. Retinol (vitamin A) should only be used in the evening and vitamin C is a morning product which brightens the skin. Lots of price points offer different quality however avoid anything that claims to do the work of all of these in one cream. You are better buying separately the active ingredients that your skin will need. I’d recommend the ordinary brand and also the inkey list - they are excellent and affordable.

3lbs off this week, 2.5 stone off total. Hoping to get into the next stone next week.

Still have a long way to go but I am really rediscovering the love for clothes. I must have just gone straight to joggers and leggings when I started putting the weight on but have bought a few pairs of jeans that fit me well and am just feeling so much better about myself. I'm still about 2.5 stone away from the majority of my wardrobe but it's there waiting on me!

🥳 fab losses!

I’m in the depths of my old clothes also 🥰

Oh good, call! I have some in my beauty drawers. Thank you for reminding us! I also have a massage tool from Sarah Chapman I can use with it.

I’ve got the Sarah chapman tool but hadn’t thought to use it!

I love this thread!

Mine was a video of me dancing at my sister’s birthday party. It was mortifying. I was massively hungover and the videos were the last straw. I literally went home and ordered Mounjaro.

I definitely had reverse body dysmorphia! Must have been some weird protection mechanism to stop me losing me mind but my God I was so deluded when I was 24lbs heavier 🙈

@Mounjaropen I have never even heard of that balm but Google is my best friend so ill find out soon

Of course! Welcome! How’s it going for you?

Hi

Im an oldie, 53, been overweight all my life. I’m type 2 and after a stay in hospital my GP suggested trying MJ.

I had a 12 week review, my blood sugar is below pre diabetic, cholesterol levels down to normal and my BP also normal.

My GP (bit of a rebel) started me on 7.5mg, up to 10mg after 4 weeks then 12.5mg after a further 4 weeks. I stayed on 12.5mg for a second pen as I was due my review and my diabetic nurse has put it up to 15mg for my next prescription.

I have lost 3 1/2 stone in 14 weeks.

HW 16 stone +
MJ SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 4lb

This drug has literally changed my life already.

Now a size 12, from 18-20, shopping like a looney on Vinted and keeping the local charity shop supplied with my outgrown clothes.

The only side effect is constipation xx

What an amazing result! Congratulations! And lovely to hear that you are receiving the medication that you need from the NHS.

I blame the body dysmorphophobia on the fact that fat me is just a caricature version of thin me. Big boobs become BIG BOOBS, a big bum became A FUCKING INSANELY BIG BUM, a round tummy became HAVE THIS SEAT BECAUSE YOU ARE PREGNANT. But I could kid myself that I've always had a big bum, totally ignoring that it was big proportionately on a much, much smaller body. I didn't think 19 stone something looked much worse than 17 stone something but now 2.5 stone is off, jeez it did.

Mine was a family photo taken on bonfire night, where my face looks so round and fat, I almost didn't recognise myself. Sadly the photo framed and on show in the houses of a few family members so I can't forget how dreadful I looked... and I also have to pretend I don't mind! I knew I had put too much weight on but when I looked in the mirror I genuinely didn't think it was anywhere near that bad.

Oceangrey · 16/02/2025 17:04

It's great hearing about everyone's progress.

I've not lost anything this week but that's as expected because I've been out four evenings, and one lunch, and some of those involved quite a lot of drinking. Actually I feel quite gross and like I want a week of eating super healthy and moving more. Not because I should but because I want to.

My work generally does involve a lot of lunches and dinners, and it's not the biggest trial(!) but not great for weight loss.

So the stats are still:
5' 3
SW 13st 3lb
CW 12st 13lb

In other news, I found a smaller version of a favourite skirt on vinted, then was annoyed I'd ordered a much smaller one two sizes down not one size (US sizing confused me). But it fits! Only just and it's a little elasticated but it's wearable.

I bought this! Not sure it’s working yet but I will report back 😂😂 only on day 5 though so here’s hoping!

I have a definite sag going on on my neck under my chin 😭

wearing polo necks, but would like to see an improvement by summe

Yes that is exactly where mine is looking dreadful. I wouldn’t class myself as vain but I’m so conscious of it.

lovealongbath · 16/02/2025 17:09

My wake up call was when my 6 year old grandson said “ Gran, why are you so fat?”
He didn’t ask in malice, wasn’t being nasty, just the innocent truth coming out of the mouth of babes.

Ha my friend and I say the same-we thought we looked alright. Only now I realise I was in a very small minority of thinking this!

MsRumpole · 16/02/2025 17:18

@phyllidafosset My jowls are disappearing as I lose weight, but if you want to hurry things along you could just give the Elevator a go on the jowls - if it works for the inelegantly named turkey neck I can't see that it wouldn't be worth a go

IHateMozzies · 16/02/2025 18:23

Anyone know how to soothe nettle stings?!

We went out for a walk and my foot got trapped in something and I went flying to the ground. A lovely old man helped me up 😳. Luckily not hurt apart from my hand landed in some nettles. No dock leaves in sight. We’re a good few hours on and it’s still stinging!
