November ‘24 Starters Thread 7 - The one where we might need smaller smalls 😉

1000 replies

Mounjaropen · 06/02/2025 08:15

Welcome to thread 7 to MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we move beyond the looooongest month and into February. Love is in the air for our new smaller selves and discovering clothes we use to wear ❤️

I’m on W14 D4 and on my third 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 9.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 29.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Have you tried Tanquerray 00? The Seville flavoured one is awesome and you literally cannot taste the difference between the alcoholic and non alcoholic one. It’s a revelation!

Ohh no, but I’m going to try it, sounds fantastic x

BeNavyScroller · 16/02/2025 07:25

Turkey neck folk - I’m using bio oil on my neck and stomach. It would have to be a miracle worker to change it fully but I think I’m starting to see a difference. It’s not as gross for sure

Very pleased with 2lbs off this week. Off on holiday today and have been 'shopping' in my wardrobe which has been slightly less depressing than usual! Although my swimsuit is a bit baggy on the bottom so really should have invested in a new one (in the spirit of the thread!)

Well done everyone x

Trinny London has a product called Elevator for tightening the skin on the neck (haven't tried it but worth a look?)

I love trinny London products and I use the elevator. I think it has really helped with neck sagging actually. Haven't found anything to combat my saggy inner thighs or flat bottom yet sadly! Grin

Nsv. I have 5lbs to go to reach “healthy” bmi and would like to lose a stone ideally but these jeans are hanging off me and I’ve taken a moment tonight to celebrate how far I’ve come. I’ve carried 3 babies (2 at the same time) so my tummy is what it is but I really was in denial re my size.

As I shrink in size, I too am noticed how much in denial I was about my size! I was always proud of my muscly legs but turns out, a lot of it was fat not muscle! And my neck has shrunk - wtf?!

SerenePeer · 16/02/2025 09:08

Love is your husband ordering a sharing platter in a restaurant when out with a big group of friends so that nobody notices how little you eat thanks to mj! He's a keeper.

ExtraOnions · 16/02/2025 09:22

Hit my 3 stone today (started 16th Nov).

Still getting nausea for a day or two after jabbing. It’s like my food won’t go down, gets stuck in my oesophagas, then makes me feel sick. Still it’s not forever

Need to get my BMI to 40 for surgery, currently down to 45 from 51, so well on my way.

Still having a psychological reaction to the actual jab .. I throw up every time.

Hoping it all settles with time

Pumpkinforever · 16/02/2025 10:13

well done @ExtraOnions 3 stones is a great achievement

keep him @SerenePeer

i have another 3 stone to go. I might consider surgery to tidy lose skin in a years time if it is too horrendous but only one lot. I was weighing up (😂) the idea of arms but maybe do neck instead. I have to be realistic given my age and the amount of time I have been obese

murraymcgill · 16/02/2025 10:31

Morning all down to 12.8 but for the life of me I don't even know what I was last week 😅 in happy anyway but has a humongous cold sore

phyllidafosset · 16/02/2025 11:40

Right! Following turkey neck discussions, I am hoping you wonderful ladies (not excluding the gents but think this is more an womens issue?) can offer any advice on face treatments for face jowls!!! I have really sensitive skin (and with peri-menopause have developed Rosacea), but the jowls are something it would be great to shift or minimise if I can! I must confess to having zero skincare regime.

My other question is are any of you getting REALLY flyaway hair? It maybe that I have changed conditioner, but I also have a sensitive scalp (🤦‍♀️), so I had to change because my old one was creating a really inflamed bit. But the flyaway/static is really annoying. Not sure if it is hair changes with Mounjaro!

Any thoughts/advice/magic solutions would be very welcome 😁

evilharpy · 16/02/2025 11:43

3lbs off this week, 2.5 stone off total. Hoping to get into the next stone next week.

Still have a long way to go but I am really rediscovering the love for clothes. I must have just gone straight to joggers and leggings when I started putting the weight on but have bought a few pairs of jeans that fit me well and am just feeling so much better about myself. I'm still about 2.5 stone away from the majority of my wardrobe but it's there waiting on me!

Pumpkinforever · 16/02/2025 12:04

great news @evilharpy. It’s a good feeling to be able to wear more of my wardrobe- all that stuff I kept just in case I lost weight 😂. I am clearing out the proper fat stuff occasionally which means I can see what’s left. Amazed at how many long black cardigans I have/had in an attempt to hide my bulges.

PinkArt · 16/02/2025 12:49

@phyllidafosset it's more of a quick fix than a proper solution, but rub tin foil down the flyaway hair and it removes the static. This Morning demoed it and the clip went viral!

@SerenePeer this is too cute! My Galentines date asked if I wanted to share one portion of chips with our dirty burgers as she knows my appetite is reduced. Love her.

jay55 · 16/02/2025 13:39

Great loss @evilharpy and yay for new jeans

M&S have protein pancake shakers for pancake day, £1:60ish dearer than the regular shaker but cheap enough and good for lazy people like me Blush

murraymcgill · 16/02/2025 15:01

@phyllidafosset your doing great well I'm 52 in menopause all of a sudden the past few week I've heavy bleeding my face has totally changed can't get my make up right I my hair is so thin so I don't know if it's MJ or my age

Mounjaropen · 16/02/2025 15:32

namechangedyetagain · 15/02/2025 14:57

Weigh in today a day early as I'm also jabbing a day early. Another kilo off. Have lost just over 18 kg since I started on Nov 2. Feel like I've been getting hungrier this week and haven't been able to resist treats at work. Also has a steak dinner out and a couple of glasses of wine ( bad week).
Off on a mini break tomorrow hopefully to see some blue sky (hence I jabbing a day early). Look pretty terrible as most of my summer holiday clothes are now too big. Have ordered a few smaller things but I don't like how they show my shape. I'm used to hiding under shapeless baggy things. I don't feel at all confident despite everyone saying look really well and amazing. I feel like not really me.

Does that sound stupid?

Well, I for one think you should be celebrating a 40 lbs loss! What an amazing result! I’ve totally changed how I dress in the last six weeks or so, actually embracing close fitting garments. I think it will take all of us a little while to adjust to not being the.’big’ lady anymore… Maybe purchase one or two items that you wouldn’t normally have worn? have a fantastic holiday!

My neck is all turkeyish 😢

5 stone down but my neck is gross.

Five stone?! That is outstanding! 🥳

with regards to the net, I think simple massage and a good facial oil will help, after that you might want to have a look at more invasive techniques such as Morpheus eight?

My neck is rubbish too, and my upper arms. Hardly any wrinkles on my face, all on my neck.

Massage for the arms too I think. And weights.

I’m 51. My cycle has gone all up the spout since MJ but it is impossible to know if it is MJ or age! Same with the hair! The jowls I know are age 🤣 I was thinking about my clothes and realised that I think I gained 2 stone in 2 years as peri hit. As I’m reversing that, I’m thinking about other ways I need to start paying attention.

For the hair - what I have read makes me think hair thinning on MJ does reverse. Although I think the bit menopause less so. But you may have a double whammy at the moment. I wonder if the terrible static is partly due dryness from MJ and/or menopause.

I think I may have to sort out my lazy zero input skincare/haircare. It may be too late, but hey. I am starting with the gym. I think that might be the most health important one (equal to the diet). It will just be hard to make the change permanent!

I do love the idea of having facials weekly - if I had money to burn I would 100% be doing that 😁 And I’d have a personal trainer. And I was lambasting Hollywood’s plastic unrealistic ageing expectations with my husband today (or more at him), having looked up a face lift earlier in the day 🤣🤦‍♀️ (I didn’t tell him that). Totally crazy.

I’m having a bit of an midlife-MJ-menopause crisis today 😁🤣🤦‍♀️ Need to balance reality with expectations, and sort those priorities a little.

I bought this! Not sure it’s working yet but I will report back 😂😂 only on day 5 though so here’s hoping!

I have a definite sag going on on my neck under my chin 😭

wearing polo necks, but would like to see an improvement by summe

I’m desperately trying to counteract having a turkey neck too! My mother had a terrible one after losing weight for my wedding years ago and it didn’t go. Unfortunately, I seem to have inherited her genes 😭
