November ‘24 Starters Thread 7 - The one where we might need smaller smalls 😉

1000 replies

Mounjaropen · 06/02/2025 08:15

Welcome to thread 7 to MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we move beyond the looooongest month and into February. Love is in the air for our new smaller selves and discovering clothes we use to wear ❤️

I’m on W14 D4 and on my third 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 9.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 29.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I read that article. By the time they roll out I will have a BMI of less than 30 fingers crossed. Nothing about maintenance yet but that will come further down the line.

Even my local pharmacy is starting to offer WLI jabs. £165 for 2.5mg and £165 for 5mg. But, there’s always a but, you have to pay £25 for a monthly consultation where your BMI is checked.

Pumpkinforever · 12/02/2025 09:53

murraymcgill · 12/02/2025 09:46

Soon going up to 10m is the side effects worse than 7.5 ?

And here’s me fretting about going up to 5mg 🙄

Della82 · 12/02/2025 10:35

Interesting article @Mounjaropen, it will be interesting to see how attitudes shift when these injections become more mainstream

I am dreading my weigh in tomorrow, I’ve been away for work and have indulged in yummy food and wine! It’s been tough as I was taken out for lunch twice and there were no salad options 😂 will make sure I get my steps in today before I get home 😂

SerenePeer · 12/02/2025 10:37

Popping in to tell you all about my newly purchased heated throw 😍 I'm in love! I've been so cold sitting at my desk, which i know is a side effect of treatment (and having less thermal padding now! ;-) ) so I treated myself as an early valentines gift from me to me. ❤️

Della82 · 12/02/2025 10:38

Gosh @Pumpkinforever £25 for what I imagine will be 15 minutes-these pharmacies will do very well from WLI

well done for your progress! 💪

I've had a heated throw for a couple of years, gamechanger and I don't need to keep boosting the heating! Wrap it round my feet and it is fab!

Caplin · 12/02/2025 11:08

So I don't officially weigh in till Friday, but....I went down a number on the scalles today! 15st 13.5lbs, but I don't care! This was always my nemesis for years getting into the 15s, last achieved in 2017 for maybe a month! Yet I feel like I have sailed down to this weight so far without a struggle, which is a miracle! Another 1lb off and I will hit a three stone loss in three months! Although I'm not sure that will happen by Friday as I'm out with a friend for dinner tonight, but who knows, my suppression is still high!

Now if I could just get out of these size 20s I will be even happier!

I agree. Even local pharmacies are now jumping on board so it must be profitable. It also shows how WLI is changing people’s perceptions of weight management. I can see a time in the future where obesity will be vastly reduced due to medication, or as I heard on the radio Mounjarno and ozempic in tablet form will be the new statins with millions being prescribed on them.

@SerenePeer feeling envious now. I need a heated throw.

jay55 · 12/02/2025 14:26

@Caplin whoop for getting there. Always lovely to see new numbers.

Wonder how much type 2 diabetes will be beaten alongside obesity. My dad was prescribed ozempic for diabetes but it didn't seem to do much for his appetite at the time.

evilharpy · 12/02/2025 15:30

I bought a heated throw from Lakeland in the Black Friday sale. Literally no idea how I ever lived without it, I WFH in a freezing house and it's lifechanging.

Mine also offers a private prescription service, but it’s £200 per month…!

11st 8.6 for me today.. last time I was this weight was DD’s baptism at 3 months. She’ll be 19 next month 🫠

Pvolve going well, have now completed 52 classes since I started which translates as 30+ hours 💪🏻. Have played tennis today and will play again tomorrow for my cardio.

Had lunch yesterday with a friend who has terminal cancer. She had seen various pics of me on FB and as a Dr her first question was ‘has your weight loss been intentional or are you ill?’. Bless her, I felt quite self indulgent taking about WLI when she had been worried I was going to tell her I was also ill. It is a reminder to celebrate life whatever weight we are really.

Leaving this recipe here that I made my friend for lunch which was really rather lovely. I don’t know if anyone follows Poppy O’Toole on instagram or on TV, but she’s a lovely ray of sunshine. And does amazing things with the humble potato.

Well done @Mounjaropen I was probably around that weight when my DD was born. Keep going with the losses.

thanks for the recipe

Your friend is so kind thinking about you in spite of her own health

Cantbesure · 12/02/2025 16:56

@SerenePeer sequins hot pants AND a heated throw? You are living the dream. I love my heated throw. But don't think the world is ready to see me in hot pants!

Well done @Mounjaropen after struggling to get into the 11s the weight is now falling off you.

Official weigh and jab day for me tomorrow, but today has me a pound down so I will bank that. 24lbs since the summer and 17lbs since starting MJ.

I'm wondering whether to go up from 5mg tomorrow. I do feel like I'm getting more hungry. But I have lost 1lb and got below my old set weight nemesis.

Aww thanks. Long may it continue 🤞🏻(although I have a fancy Valentine’s lunch on Friday which has some insane number of courses which may thwart my efforts)

@Mounjaropen but you have a fancy valentine's date dinner. That's lovely. Not everything in life can be measured in calories. Have a great time.

Thank you. We’ve had a few shitty years with ill (now sadly deceased) parents and the stresses and challenges that caring responsibilities brings with all of that so it is nice to have the time and opportunity to enjoy time together. I feel in the right headspace to have some moments of joy!

Great progress @Mounjaropen - you give so much praise and support to others you most certainly deserve it back in spades and a wonderful Valentine’s lunch - enjoy!!

One of the great things with MJ is the confidence I think we all must have that an ‘excursion’ is readily brought back on track. Usually for me, it’s straight into slippery slope land and an inexorable slide to old ways.

also loved ‘Snaccident’ 😂😂

Della82 · 12/02/2025 20:51

Snaccidents and Gincidents have caused a lot of my weight gain over the years 😂
