Where are all the Wegovy folks?

It seems to be very Mounjuro heavy on this board?

Would love to hear from those on Wegovy. How have you found it? How much have you lost?

I'm starting on Monday (getting my first month's supply Monday afternoon!)

Suddenly horribly sick and crampy for 24 hrs after my last dose. I going to take my next dose late and take less and see how it goes. Hope I won’t have to quit because I weigh less than I have in years.

Sorry you have been so unwell.

How is everyone getting on?

I've had some health issues (autoimmune condition has flared, I had suspected DVT and spent 4 days last week in Urgent care / at my GP's!!). I'm still mid flare and quite frankly not feeling it at all.

I lost a measly 4lbs in 3 weeks and had such a crap week food wise I've not even weighed in today.

I did however start my 0.5mg pen a few days ago but only as I'd already paid for it before I got poorly.

If no joy in the next 3 weeks I'm going to stop and move to MJ.

How are you getting on? Any appetite suppression yet?

Hope at the very least, your flare-ups gave subsided!

How's everyone getting on this week?

I've been on wegovy for around 5 months and have lost about a stone and a half. Slow and steady feels like it works best for me so I've been increasing doses gradually and have only just moved up to 1.7.

I'm now about where I want to be weight wise and I'm thinking about tapering off gradually whilst trying to maintain. Has anyone done this on wegovy and managed to maintain longer term without the meds? Any advice?

Thank you for asking.

Flare wise I'm finally feeling a tad better. I can walk again now at least!! Still not amazing but I've improved at least.

2nd dose of 0.5mg on Thursday and I'm still ravenous. And no weightloss at all In weeks. I suppose given the fact I've been virtually housebound for almost 3 weeks and eating my feelings, I'm lucky I've not gained!!

I am pretty sure I'm going to call it quits with Wegovy after I finish this pen. I'm 6 weeks in and 4lbs / £300 down and it's just not happening!

OP posts:
BumWormFatigue · 16/03/2025 23:10

Mmm, no I wouldn't be super pleased for £300 either. Although as you say, if you would have otherwise gained 3lb say, then you've sort of "lost" half a stone.

Really pleased to hear your health is improving though, overall. Wishing you well for a continued recovery x

Crunchymum · 17/03/2025 12:34

Thank you @BumWormFatigue (your username really does make me smile!)

Yeah I certainly haven't adopted any real healthy eating practices so the fact I haven't gained isn't to be sniffed at.

I just expected more - I expected the hunger to have dissipated a little / a bit more of a loss.

I'm still assessing my options though so we'll see.

Wegovy2025 · 17/03/2025 13:46

I can’t comment on Wegovy - after MedExpress took ages rejecting then finally approving my photo, they had run out of the 0.25 dose so I cancelled my order.

I decided to go somewhere else and try Mounjaro because that’s the most commonly used now, and supposedly the best. I’ve just finished my first pen, so a little over 4 weeks since starting and I’ve lost 11lbs. I haven’t been hungry, I haven’t even needed to count calories. I just haven’t wanted to eat really. It’s been a revelation.

I’m so sorry that Wegovy hasn’t worked, but maybe give mounjaro a go? It started to work for me the day after I jabbed.

I took my 3rd 0.5mg pen yesterday and nowt.

I will take next week's pen but then I'm done.

I've had zero food suppression at all - 7 jabs in - not impressed.

thornbury · 23/03/2025 06:46

@Crunchymum I'm sorry it's been so disappointing for you. I've just started week 9 and I've lost almost a stone (well, I have lost a stone but the first 1.8lbs was between 1-16 Jan and I started Wegovy on 17 Jan). I'm on 1mg now and I can feel the difference between 0.5 and 1. In my last week on 0.5, my weight stayed exactly the same, but it has shifted again since then, losing 1.7lbs last week. Maybe the added ingredient in Mounjaro is going to be what your body needs.

That was pretty much my experience but when I switched to MJ it melted off.

Make sure you use a discount code if you swap and go through TopCashBack too, it helps with the price. I’ve got one if you want to DM me.

I think it’ll be a lot quicker than the Wegovy tbh

Thank you.

I've got one more dose this week (I don't want to waste it!) and then I'll need to wait 2 weeks but I'm definitely going to move.

I'm starting a new medication for my arthritis so I'm praying that's not a deal breaker.

Was planning to go via Medexpress this time. Is that who you have the code for?

OP posts:
wite · 23/03/2025 08:06

Yes it’s a MedExpress code, they’re the best I think, I started with pharmacy4u and swapped as they were slow to dispatch it.

They will be able to tell you about any contraindications with your arthritis meds, hopefully it’ll be okay. I was pretty pissed off with Wegovy as it’s not cheap but maybe in hindsight a slow start was okay as I’ve not got any loose skin or anything.

I've been on wegovy for 2 weeks. Eating healthily. No chocolate. No alcohol . No processed food.
Also No weight loss !
Drink plenty of water. Exercise.

So disappointed. Going to up dose in 2 weeks to 0.5 and hope that works

Crunchymum · 29/03/2025 07:45

I'm done with Wegovy (took last injection yesterday. So I've done x4 @ 2.5 and x4 @ 0.5) and I've had absolutely zero suppression and a 6.5lb loss. Although i've put a few lbs back on today though as I've got my period.

Very disappointed Although there were mitigating factors for me - 3 week arthritis flare and burst cyst in my knee where I couldn't walk. I've also been comfort eating and basically not doing things "right"

Will seek a Mounjaro prescription in two weeks and start again from there.

Best of luck everyone.

Sorry you're disappointed @Crunchymum Maybe join this thread if you are starting MJ - https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5302656-mounjaro-april-2025-starters?page=3&reply=143151384 All really positive and hopeful so far.

I just started MJ rather than Wegovy, partly based on your experience. I guess my point, is that your bad experience has been very helpful to me! Not sure whether that makes you feel better or worse! But wishing you well, whatever your next step is x

Sont you have to wait 4 or 5 weeks before you change. I'm going to change and have been advised to wait until wegovy out of my system

wite · 29/03/2025 19:40

I waited 3 weeks before switching but I’m impatient. I hope you find MJ to be as good as I did, it really was amazing to see the difference and to feel how I think I should have felt on Wegovy. Good luck to you x

Crunchymum · 29/03/2025 20:54

2 weeks I believe. I'll start the process then at least.

I am glad to hear my experience helped but yes I wish I hadn't wasted 3 months and £300! Oh well, onwards and upwards.

Best of luck and I'll probably see you around on the MJ threads.

To all those saying it's a 5 week wait, I started to fill in the online application with Medexpress and they asked if I'd taken any other weight-loss medication in the past 2 weeks?

I didn't actually go through the process in the end as I will wait until I hear back re: my new arthritis medication which should be Mid April but that's how I got the impression it was 2 weeks!

Hi, quite late to the party here but I Just wanted to post that I was on Wegovy for 14 months and lost 3st. I wasn’t even trying to do anything with my diet, in fact I was so off food the only thing I could bring myself to eat half the time was carby food and treats like croissants and cakes in the day time - nothing at night - so I am certain I could have lost more if I’d have worked harder to eat well and exercise properly. I tapered off about two months ago and though my appetite is coming back and food is more enjoyable again, I haven’t put any weight back on yet. I am still really glad I did it, some of my clothes hang off me and I’ve not been this size in 10 years, and I’ve done it without obsessing and without the huge mental capacity that willpower alone takes to sustain. The sickness is terrible but stick with it and you’ll be glad you did because my eating habits are now better, my appetite is lower, I look younger and I feel comfortable in a swimsuit again

KarenMM · 05/08/2025 12:47

My prescriber is saying I need to change from mounjaro to wegovy due to HRT! I’m only three weeks in using mounjaro, so am keen to hear about other wegovy experiences.
