Where are all the Wegovy folks?

It seems to be very Mounjuro heavy on this board?

Would love to hear from those on Wegovy. How have you found it? How much have you lost?

I'm starting on Monday (getting my first month's supply Monday afternoon!)

Just read this on the BBC - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c5yeklrer39o

I guess it's a good thing but I haven't seen my GP in years so wouldn't be able to get them to verify my weight?

I've got tonsillitis 🫣 no wonder I've not been able to eat much!!

Hello - I am on Wegovy. Couldn’t tolerate Mounjaro when I tried it. I agree that the pen is better quality with Wegovy. I am a steady loser (on either drug) but this time round have lost about 8kg / 1st 3 lb in 4 months. Side effects on Wegovy for me are a bit of nausea/occasional vomiting on the morning after the injection and some itching which is a bit annoying. Otherwise it’s fine. Mounjaro eventually gave me stomach cramps, d&v and sulphur burps. Good luck everyone starting out.

You poor thing!! Other than the flu in my teens, tonsillitis is the most ill I've ever been (had it over Easter when the GP was shut for 4 days!)

Hope you start to feel better soon.

Thanks for the advice @wite

I assume the code is the reason you stuck it out so long with Wegovy? My question before your second post was actually going to be at what point did you decide it's not effective? 6 months is a lot of time and money.

I'm still quite on the fence about switching at some point on the future but I'm also happy to see if Wegovy does work for me.

Glad to hear it helped with the food noise quickly though. I hope if I can turn that off I can focus in healthy eating and taking less calories without feeling hungry and deprived!

When I started last December Mounjaro wasn't around, it was only Wegovy. A couple of months in to my weigh loss Mounjaro was approved for use here and I wanted to see what the feedback was before switching.

I also had to take 4 weeks off once I decided to switch which was a bit annoying. I think because I was getting it free not losing much didn't matter too much, like you I wanted to take it slow rather than get lots of loose skin etc.

I did lose much faster once I switched but if you don't mind slow and steady Wegovy should work. I think I lost around 18lbs in the 6 months (I did take two weeks off for a holiday midway) and then once I switched it's fallen off and I've lost 3 stone since (in about 7 months) and now I'm at target.

Best of luck to you. I look and feel so much better now.

wite · 04/02/2025 12:36

Also the pen is much better with Wegovy. The MJ one is rubbish.

Wowser, so you've lost almost double the amount of weight on Mounjaro?

That's really interesting to know and congratulations getting to your target - well done!!

I assume its mandatory to have a break between moving from Wegovy to Mounjaro.

I am happy with slow and steady but not too slow (if that makes sense?). I'm paying a lot of money so want to see some results!!

I guess it all leads back to the same point though. If I could successfully lose weight without medication then I would so I'm "stuck" paying for the privilege, no matter how long it takes?

I'm going to park it for the time being as I have committed to Wegovy but I won't rule out moving to MJ at some stage.

What dose did you start on @Mookie81
Congratulations on your weightloss. Amazing job!!

My starting dose is 0.25ml? I assume I have to work up?

Edited

Thank you 😊.
0.25 which gets your body used to the drug. It then goes to 0.5 and so on.

Day 3 today and not much to report.

I felt quite sick for most of the day yesterday and had a headache but no changes to appetite (in fact my feeling of sickness was worryingly quenched when I ate!!). I also didn't sleep very well. Feel a bit more normal today though!

What are we all doing diet wise?

I'd be interested to hear what those of you just starting are planning to do but I'd love to hear what those of you who are already established eat now?

The one thing I will say is I am having no sugar cravings (last sweet thing was Sunday evening) and usually in the first few days of no sugar, I have such cravings!

OP posts:
fatandtrying · 05/02/2025 10:56

I've just upped my protein and trying to cut out carbs as much as possible.... I'm loving parsnip or carrot chips atm when the family has something with chips lol I wasn't going to weigh myself this week as on my period but going to bite the bullet and just do it lol

Crunchymum · 05/02/2025 11:04

Fingers crossed for weigh-in @fatandtrying

I am a bit of a carb fiend, would be good to have a bit more control of this.

Planning a stir fry for dinner but very protein and veg heavy - I will have a small portion of brown rice on the side.

Have an appointment over lunch time so I am having am omlette as a late breakfast / early lunch.

I am still feeling my usual hunger though!

The antibiotics are kicking in, and my appetite is returning! I can see me putting back on some of the weight I lost.

Well I think it's more important to be well and eat. At least the AB are helping.

I have a headache again this afternoon, I am not a headachy person at all. It's one of the most common side effects of Wegovy though. Although annoying as I am worried it means Wegovy may not be for me.

I am drinking lots and taking pain relief but I've never had to do that for a headache before.

Woo hoo. Well done 👏

How much more do you want to lose? (And how long has the stone taken?)... if you don't mind me asking?

ideally I have another 2 stone and a few lbs to go but I would need 5 stone to fit in the nhs brackets and at that weight I am a size 4/6 and look poorly lol so I'm going down to the weight I know I'm a healthy size 10/12 I'm a size 16 at the minute although they are starting to feel big on me! I had my first dose on 13th January!

A stone in a month is epic, you must be very pleased! Long may it continue to work for you.

And yes you know your body better than anyone, so you need to decide where you feel most comfortable.

I am hoping for a 3st loss but I'd need 4st to get myself into the NHS bracket. It's been so long since I was slim(mer) that I am just going to go with it and see where I feel most comfortable.

I’ve finally had my photo approved and prescription authorised! Hopefully I’ll get it in the next couple of days.

Does anyone calorie count on it? Not sure whether I should calorie count or just see what happens?

@Crunchymum how are you getting on now? How are the headaches? Any appetite suppression?

FedUpandEatingChocolate · 06/02/2025 20:13

I don't calorie count, but I am trying to ensure I have enough protein and fibre. I want to set up good habits from the start.

That's good news!! I hope you get your first pen shortly.

No headaches today, but appetite still exactly the same (albeit I'm not missing sweet stuff)

Plan to stick to roughly 1500 cals a day. Which should be very doable if I stop being my usual level of hungry 🙃

Ive had first jab this afternoon so keen to follow you all!

thornbury · 08/02/2025 07:54

I've just finished week 3 and taken my 4th injection. This week my weight was a bit weird, it went up half a pound, stayed there for three days and then started to come down again, so I have lost only 1.1lbs this week (which is half a kilo and not to be sniffed at!) Given the minimal side effects, I am continuing on 0.5 for the next pen and not sure whether to increase to 1mg after that. Total loss since Jan 1st is 9lbs.

Crunchymum · 08/02/2025 07:55

How's everyone getting on?

I decided to weigh in today (it's my usual weigh in day) and I'm 3lbs down on the weight I sent in last Saturday to get my prescription sorted.

I'm really pleased as a) I ate like a beast last weekend before I had my my first pen on Monday and b) I've not had any appetite suppression yet.

It's a small start but a start none then the less.

1st Feb - 13st 3.5lb
8th Feb - 13st 0.5lb

I've had no appetite suppression yet. But only a few days. I had a family takeaway party yesterday and was wondering if I would feel nauseous eating pizza and chips and cake and ice cream... I didn't 😭
