Thinking of starting weight loss injections

how much weight have you lost

how long did it take to notice a huge difference

Also what type of injections are you currently taking?

77 pounds down since last January. Most of it Mounjaro aided, a bit of it was without it.

I don't see a difference when I look at myself in the mirror. But when I see old pictures of myself I really notice it.

Snozzlemaid · 09/01/2025 16:16

@Glasgow1996 No I haven't. I've checked my order and it's not been approved yet.
I'm not very impressed. Other pharmacies have all approved much quicker.

I'll let you know when I hear.

I placed the order about 12 last night and still heard nothing either.

A lot of providers are very busy with the Christmas and new year sales, also the "new year new me" thing will mean more people are ordering x

Yes, busiest time of year I would imagine.

Snozzlemaid · 09/01/2025 16:53

Yes and I'm sure their £60 off deal has meant an increase in orders.

Frightenedbunny · 09/01/2025 18:42

@InfoSecInTheCity yep, always bloody cold!!! And it’s uncomfortable in bed when I lie on my side and my boney knees knock together. I also have no arse whatsoever.

Hi op. I started at the end of June at a size 16 and 15 stone 8lbs, had been 'on a diet' since May but only lost 6lbs (so had been 16 stone).

I'm now 11 stone 11lbs and a size 10 (I'm quite tall).

I'm still taking MJ, I am still on 5mg which is the highest dose I've been on. Have been maintaining for around 6 weeks.

I haven't had many side effects, a couple of nasty bouts of diarrhoea when I first tried to go up to 5mg (I ended up on 3.75mg for most of my journey).

I did count calories and stuck to an average of 1200 a day which was quite low but I had no interest in food. My suppression is no longer as good but good enough to take the edge off so I can maintain, on around 1800 calories.

I use Oushk Pharmacy and highly recommend them. I wasn't comfortable with chasing bargains and chopping and changing suppliers. That's just not for me at all.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

Hi guys! Hope you are all well, I went to the the nurse for an appointment this morning and to see my GP. Ofcourse he said we don’t recommend it here in Scotland but it’s entirely up to yourself it’s your body! Regardless I already had the mind set without even voicing anything that I was going a head with it before I went to the Doctors. I actually placed the order last night at 12 o’clock had to send in ID and full body image. Still awaiting to be approved with Pharmacy2U.

quick question do majority of people go up a dosage every 4 weeks as advised? And why do some people stay on the same dosage? Going up the dosage not meant to have a better chance of losing the weight?

why are you not going up the dosage if u don’t mind me asking?

I went up a dose every four weeks. Am still on 10mg, my next pen is 12.5. I cant speak for anyone else but I prefer to follow manufacturer/health professionals recommendations when taking such strong medication. As I've not had any side effects every month they said go up

AlphaApple · 09/01/2025 20:25

I didn't go up to stronger doses, I lost enough on 2.5 MJ and am maintaining on 1.25. But I didn't have a lot to lose.

I have stage 4 Endometriosis, 27cm cyst attached to my ovaries plus endometriosis inside my C-section scar.

You would need to tell your supplier all this and they will decide whether you are suitable

Usually takes a day or two for a new supplier to approve

but as you have medical issues they may need more info

NewLifter · 09/01/2025 21:23

Hey OP, I just didn't need to move up as I had very strong suppression and was losing weight at a rate I was happy with. I also seem to be very sensitive to the drug as I had nasty bouts of diarrhoea when I first had to move up to 5mg.

The lower doses are cheaper and obviously the less of any med you take the better - so I'm not sure why you would increase if you don't need to.

I find the previous response quite strange to be honest! That you must move up as that's what the supplier says. I would have made myself very unwell and wouldn't be able to eat anything had I kept moving up, that would be just daft (and dangerous!)

Bellyblueboy · 09/01/2025 21:24

On doses I have been on MJ for 16 weeks now and have stayed at 5mg. I am losing weight now at 2lbs a week, like any diet it was faster in the first weeks.

i have lost 2st 4 now, and my BMI is 26.

I don’t need a higher dose and don’t want to take stronger medicine unnecessarily. My prescriber is content with this approach:

I did a lot of research over many months before committing to this and there was a lot of advice from obesity doctors to titrate up at your own pace and not be in a rush unnecessarily.

Anything I have read is that four weeks is the minimum you should spend on each strength, however there is no need to move up every four weeks unless you want.

I was intrigued by your response so I had a look at your history and saw you've lost 8lbs since September so MJ isn't working overly well for you (I lost that in my first week). So of course you need to keep moving up doses.

I think that would have been a more honest response to the question.

OP you def dont need to move up the doses quickly if it's working, in fact it's best not to as you don't want to get to the highest dose and still have lots to lose.

Go with your providers advice and by how you feel it's working for you.

Gettingslimmer · 09/01/2025 21:39

I’ve moved up the doses as per recommendations now on 10. I’ve lost 35 lbs in 13 weeks,

Tho most suppliers do suggest you go up monthly

I did till found 10 worked for me so did 2mths at it or really 2.5mths as 10w using bonus

then went to 12.5 last week as 10 wasn’t working

I've been on since March 2023 and have lost nearly 5 stone including a 9 month stall last year. I wasn't aware we needed to list our whole history when answering a post.

Guys I need some inspiration lol!

what do use eat as in main meals so breakfast lunch dinner?
of course healthy meals?

OP posts:
InfoSecInTheCity · 09/01/2025 22:17

@Glasgow1996 I am a person who is very very routine driven and happiest when I can just do or eat the same thing day in day out so I don't have to think about it. Even though I work from home and don't have a uniform, i have pretty much created my own so I can just grab the days clothes and not have to decide on anything. So my meals are pretty repetitive, but will share in case it helps.

Slow cooker "casserole". I don't have a set recipe for this but it is my lunch every day for 4 days then I make a new batch. I'm lazy so buy everything from the prepped veg section so I don't have to chop and peel it.

  • 500g meat - beef shin, beef mince, pork mince, pork shoulder steak, chicken thigh chunks
  • pre-prepped bag of sliced mushrooms
  • pre-prepped bag of sliced onion
  • pre-prepped bag of sliced carrots
  • tin of tomatoes
  • squeeze of tomato puree
  • whatever seasoning packet I have in the cupboard that sounds nice - chilli, tacos, bbq, bolognaise, beef stew, cottage pie, sausage casserole

Put it all raw in the slow cooker, high for 2 hours, low for 6ish hours or until I remember I made it and need to put it in boxes.

Works out about 250 calories per portion.

Warm salad

  • asparagus, green beans, babycorn, sugarsnap peas, tenderstem broccoli. Steam in microwave for 3 minutes. Add torn up wafer thin chicken or ham or chopped up boiled egg. 200-250 calories depending on how much meat/egg you add.

Dinners I stick with meat and veg, make a meal for everyone and just trade out the carb element for me so I'll make lasagna for DH and DD, hold back some of the red sauce and meat and use it to stuff a couple of portabello mushrooms or peppers and bake it all together. If they're having chicken and chips I'll have chicken and roasted veg, if they're having tacos I'll have the taco meat with lettuce leaves instead of wraps.

People say this...but I've never known it to happen. I've used Voy, Asda and now Numan, and neither of these companies have informed my GP. Two friends used MedExpress and their GPs haven't been informed either.

I'd love to know which companies actually do inform GPs, so if anyone has experienced this please do share 👌🏻

Medexpress for my first order, they sent a letter to my GP X

Snozzlemaid · 09/01/2025 22:57

@Glasgow1996 I've been asked now to provide a photo of my previous pen prescription label or order email.
I've just uploaded that for them and they say they should respond within 24 hours.
