Thinking of starting weight loss injections

how much weight have you lost

how long did it take to notice a huge difference

Also what type of injections are you currently taking?

Sorry to butt in but there seems to be a lot of knowledgeable people on this thread. Does anyone monitor their calorie intake on the injections? I would love to know what people’s daily calorie intakes are approximately.

Is it just about the reduced calories or does the medication work differently on the calories eaten compared to not having the injection?

FerretChops · 08/01/2025 09:39

@Yellowseat have a read up as to how it works. It has a few factors - works on your blood glucose, slows food through the digestive tract keeping you fuller for longer, suppresses your appetite as a side effect etc

But your best bet is to read up properly on what it is and how it works

FerretChops · 08/01/2025 09:40

And yes - you would be best to monitor your food intake. I stick loosely to 1400-1500 calories a day

squidgymum · 08/01/2025 09:50

Mine is 1600 calories but you can work it out on a tdee calculator.

lovealongbath · 08/01/2025 10:15

My appetite is so suppressed I average 1200 daily

Redlightbulb · 08/01/2025 11:35

2 1/2 stone in 5 months with about 6 stone still to go.
Given my starting weight it has been slowish but I am fairly sedentary.
I don't count calories at the moment but may do so later on.
This isn't my first rodeo by a long shot so I know roughly what I should be eating to be in a calorie deficit. I just can't maintain weight loss which is the issue.
I am quite happy with the pace so far. Wouldn't want it to be slower given how much this medication costs.
Still in my old clothes but they are loose and could do with sizing down in some areas. My wardrobe is so messy with clothes in all sizes. I need to go through it and put stuff in order.

Doggymummar · 08/01/2025 14:05

I've been nearly two years now and lost almost 5 stone. I lost 4 stone in 5 months and then I stayed the same for about nine months which was really hard to deal with. Lost ten pound since September then gained a few at Christmas so it's hard to tell exactly how much but my app says 4 stone 4lb since Jan 23 but there has been a lot of up and downing.

FlowerP0w3r · 08/01/2025 14:16

I've been on it since May last year and have lost 3 stone. I'm on my last maintenance jab before weaning off completely. Have felt ok..no hunger cravings at all.

People say this...but I've never known it to happen. I've used Voy, Asda and now Numan, and neither of these companies have informed my GP. Two friends used MedExpress and their GPs haven't been informed either.

I'd love to know which companies actually do inform GPs, so if anyone has experienced this please do share 👌🏻

MedExpress definitely do inform your GP, that's who I use and my GP was informed by them.

My advice would be to absolutely track calories. There are lots of apps for this that can help. It's not a magic wand and if I'm not sticking to my calorie deficit then I don't lose. MJ just makes it so much more manageable to stick to my deficit.

I have upped my doses very slowly though so the appetite suppression has never been strong enough for me to be one of the people you read about who struggles to manage more than a few hundred calories. I've still needed some willpower but for the first time in my life I feel in control.

5 months and I’ve lost 3 stone on Mounjaro

ToBeOrNotToBee · 08/01/2025 14:50

7 months into Mounjaro I've lost 2.5 stone. My losses aren't massive compared to some, I believe that's because I'm short.
However, I'm down 3 dress sizes, now a size 10. My shape has massively changed, I've still got my boobs (just smaller), but the belly has gone, my things are slimming and my energy has massively increased.

5 stone in a year - i deliberately didn't rush

Epic job. Are you still on it or have you had to stop and if so, how is that going ?

Glasgow1996 · 08/01/2025 15:49

I’m really hoping to start this next month!

where abouts do u insert the pen is it leg or tummy?

I’ll speak to the GP tomorrow but I’m sure he will advise me against it

@Glasgow1996 the paper leaflet in the box with the injection pen will explain exactly where to do the injection, but yes you can choose stomach or thigh. Upper arm is also an option but the area you need to inject in will need another person to do it for you, so I don't think many people do that.

LostGhost · 08/01/2025 17:31

I've been on it around 6 months,

lost just over 4 stone so far. I have another 6 stone to go.

I only noticed a difference in the last week or so

on Mounjaro

InfoSecInTheCity · 08/01/2025 17:44

Started Mounjaro 5th September weighing 15st 7lb, as of this morning I weigh 12st 7lb so 3 stone in 4 months.

Gone from a size 22 to a size 16, went into Tesco for some exercise clothes yesterday and started with XL leggings and had to keep working down till I realised I needed a size M 😮

Good differences

  • I feel less tired
  • my resting heart rate, respiration rate, sleep quality and exercise heart rate have all improved according to my Apple Health reports
  • I feel more 'upright' like I'm hunching less as I walk and hiding myself less.
  • I can buy clothes in any shop, I am no longer in the 'additional range only sold online because we don't want fat folk darkening our doors'

Bad differences

  • I am absolutely fucking freezing constantly
  • my backside feels like it made up of all bone and razor blades, sitting at my office chair for 9 hrs a day is actually uncomfortable and I find myself longingly thinking about cushions and extra padded seats.
  • I'm saggy everywhere, saggy thighs, saggy belly, saggy thighs. I'm hopeful it will improve somewhat over time but not sure how realistic that is. I've started doing some strength exercises to build muscle.
Bologneselove · 08/01/2025 17:48

End of week 9 today, 2 stone 0.5 lbs lost (0.5 mounjaro) which I’m thrillled about.

HansHolbein · 08/01/2025 19:15

2st 9.9lbs down in 13 weeks.

1clavdivs · 08/01/2025 19:44

Two and a half stone since mid-August. Gone from size 18 to 14. Another stone and a half (ish) to go.

Glasgow1996 · 08/01/2025 19:59

2024onwardsandup · 08/01/2025 17:18

Why would your GP advise against it?

I have stage 4 Endometriosis, 27cm cyst attached to my ovaries plus endometriosis inside my C-section scar.

That’s amazing! After you have got to your weight you’re happy with are you coming off it?

Redwinesupernovafallingintome · 08/01/2025 20:01

4.5 stone however have gained 3 lb over Christmas 🙈
Anyway, that's from April, absolutely life changing, but hasn't been easy as I have suffered with side effects on MJ, they are manageable though!

Glasgow1996 · 08/01/2025 20:01

I’m just really wondering after getting to the weight. I would be pleased with after take MJ. Coming off it then putting all the weight back on.
