Anyone interested in a new thread for those of us taking the plunge this month?

@hanr84 . How are you feeling after your first injection this week ?

Apologies I've only just returned to the thread. I weighed this morning and I've lost 3 pounds. I was secretly hoping for more as I've seen some fantastic loses in the first week, but 3 pounds is still really good. If I could continue to lose 2-3 pounds a week I'd lose all my weight in 4-5 months which would be amazing! Thank you for asking after me 😊

JoanCollinsDiva · 03/02/2025 22:05

I'm due my last shot of 2.5 on Friday and then I'm looking forward to moving up to 5mg next week as I don't feel suppression is as strong this week. I've still been within my calories but thinking about food a lot more and using more willpower. I'm getting pretty bored of food too - I hate cooking and would probably just live on soup, salads and baked potatoes if it weren't for dh and dc's!

2-3 lbs a week for 4-5 months would be a pretty huge ask unless your calorie deficit is around 1500 calories per day which is very unlikely because as you get slimmer your TDEE will go down. Depends on your height though I guess because if you're very tall then you'll have a higher TDEE so getting a deficit of that amount is slightly more doable.

Don't want to rain on your parade but equally it's best to know from the offset that it can be a slow process even on MJ.

Hi @hanr84 . That’s a good start . 2lb a week is a good steady weight loss and anyone would be happy with that . Don’t worry about not getting a big loss in the first week or so. You are more likely to stay steady as you are . I had two big losses the first 2 weeks but it’s levels out at 1.5 to 2 now and it feels sustainable . I have to admit by the end of the second week I felt a bit hollowed out . In a couple of months you won’t even remember your first weeks loss. Good luck !!!!!

MathsMagpie · 05/02/2025 07:11

Weekly weight in for me
SW 221.3lbs
Week 1 211.8lbs (-9.5lbs)
Week 2 208.7lbs (-3.1lbs)
Week 3 206lbs (-2.7lbs)
Week 4 200.6lbs (-5.4lbs)

Total loss 20.7lbs

Feeling lighter and clothes looser!

Choux · 05/02/2025 08:41

I think the first week loss can be a sign of you are a super responder or not. I lost 4lbs the first week so far less than the 7-9lbs some people lose.

My average weekly loss was 1.25lbs a week over about 9 months and I had to go up to 15mg to lose that but thankfully no side effects. Holidays slowed my total loss down and the losses slowed as I got closer to goal weight.

But now I am 50lbs down and looking back it was relatively easy. I have previously lost a stone max on diets and that was during Lockdown 1.

DesperatleySeekingWeightLoss · 07/02/2025 18:31

So a really terrible experience with MedExpress. I paid for the 5mg new pen 6 days ago (due to start that today) and the order is "waiting to be dispatched". I've contacted them
Multiple times and they've not responded. Avoid..

Shmee1988 · 09/02/2025 20:18

Oh no! I've fallen off the wagon!! I started MH 5 weeks ago and have lost 1st 3lbs.... happy so far. I've been going to the gym 3 times a week and have been eating 1200 (ish) calories a day. I was due to go up to my first 5mg dose on Thursday ut I did t jab at all because it was my DHs birthday on Friday and we went out for a meal and had cake etc and then Saturday I was on a hen do... loads of food and drink! I think I've consumed 4 days calories in 2 days. I've also eaten a fair amount today. I'm going to take my first 5mg tonight before bed but I'm super anxious I've ruined all my hard work.... has this happened to anyone else who can share a success story for me?

MathsMagpie · 09/02/2025 22:26

Don't panic! I always like to think of my weekly calorie goal rather than daily so actually if you spread the extra out it's not so bad! BlushGrin

olivietolivie · 09/02/2025 22:30

1 stone 3 lbs is 17lbs. Each lb is 3,500 calories. So unless you ate 59,500 more than your TDEE you're grand Grin

Souredgrapes · 10/02/2025 22:17

Hi all . I’ve been away my skin over my arms legs and abdomen has become really sensitive . Prickly burning sensation , not itchy but really sensitive . I put it down to fabric conditioner or using my buff puff a bit to robustly or maybe showering too much but none of these things are new and I haven’t changed my shower crème etc . So the penny dropped and this sensation of mild burning coincided with taking the next dose of 5mg. I’ve googled but it doesn’t show up as a side effect of MJ specifically so I’m wondering if anyone has had a similar experience ?

treesandsun · 12/02/2025 16:49

I started in Jan. Sat (gone) was the start of week 6 and the second week of 5mg. I have lost 151b which I know - marvellous! But - I have cut carbs and sugar, no snacks, no seed oils and basically eating one healthy meal a day and not a big one at that. Am I being ungrateful to not expect to have lost more?

MathsMagpie · 12/02/2025 17:32

Wednesday weigh in for me
SW 221.3lbs
Week 1 211.8lbs (-9.5lbs)
Week 2 208.7lbs (-3.1lbs)
Week 3 206lbs (-2.7lbs)
Week 4 200.6lbs (-5.4lbs)
Week 5 198lbs (-2.6lbs)
Total loss 23.3lbs

Keep going everyone!

MathsMagpie · 12/02/2025 17:33

@treesandsun are you eating enough calories? Do you track them?

What's your starting weight? Generally if you are bigger you will lose more weight each week.

It isn't really too healthy to lose more than 2lbs a week for a prolonged period. You can lose muscle rather than fat and also lack of nutrients can cause hair loss, fatigue etc. Track your calories for a. Few days to check you aren't eating more than you think. Take supplements, focus on protein and watch the losses mount up.

I really like Numan and I have codes and you would get £100 off - I’m only paying £75 this month! Dm me if you’d want the code 🙂

Upperroom · 12/02/2025 18:36

Oops sorry I forgot to quote the poster who was asking for recommendations! 😳

I’m week 4 day 3 and I’m finally not reaching for the wine! Really pleased! Although still oddly miss it? Hope I’m not an alcoholic!

One thing I'm realising after having looked at loads of the MJ threads for the last 4 weeks is that there doesn't seem to be any particular pattern peoples weight loss is following other than its going down!

Some people have lost 20lbs in the first month, some have lost 4lbs, some are eating really healthily, fasting, cutting out foods groups and others are eating the same as they were before but smaller portions. Some people on 2.5mg and getting terrible side effects and some are on the higher doses and haven't experienced any at all!

There's just no linear pattern with weight loss. Sometimes you will stay the same for 4 weeks and then lose 5lbs in one week eating the same amount of calories. Some people find when they exercise they initially put on weight. It's frustrating but you cannot compare yourself to other people. Our bodies all work in different ways. One poster just said she weighed in 4lbs heavier after getting off an airplane! It's weird, but bodies are weird and there are all sorts of factors that go into why we lose and gain weight. Ultimately though, if you are in a calorie deficit and properly sticking to it you will lose weight. But no one can predict how long it'll take to get to your goal!

Im just trying to look on it as "I'll get to my goal weight eventually, but I don't know when". Take the pressure off as thats just going to lead to disappointment and self sabotage.

The great thing with MJ is that I feel really confident I can carry on now until I get there and just keep on keeping on!

15lbs in five weeks is fantastic!

RockOutcrop · 15/02/2025 10:42

Just weighed, 1 stone 7.5lbs lost so far

Can't believe how much me eating (and drinking ) habits have changed

MathsMagpie · 17/02/2025 20:25

Absolutely bloody starving by day 6 again, today I could have eaten everything in my fridge and still been hungry. Managed some restraint though and had a small macaroni cheese with extra salad at a garden centre at lunch instead of the pizza and chips my friend had which looked bloody incredible.

Souredgrapes · 18/02/2025 08:46

Similar here too @MathsMagpie . When do you go up to the next dose ? My Day 6 is tomorrow and already I feel I could eat a lot more than I do on day 1 to 4 . I’ve one more week on 5mg before moving up . Well done for not having the pizza . X

Tubbytiger · 18/02/2025 17:37

Hi - encouraging to see such good progress here.
I am on week 7 and third 5mg jab. I have lost just over one stone, although stuck at the same weight for a couple of weeks.

So far so positive though. I am not experiencing full suppression but feel peckish sometimes and I am looking forward to and enjoying meals. I can't finish a full meal now - handed half a sirloin steak to DH at the weekend. Also appetite for wine has decreased which is a big plus as I was worried about how much I was able to consume in an evening at home (and this drove some unhealthy snacking).
Side effects so far haven't been too bad - headache and a bit nausea but manageable. The main issue that has arisen on 5mg is injection site reaction - big raised bump which is painful for a few days. I have taken some antihistamine for it.
Next decision is whether to stick at 5mg for another pen or go up again to 7.5mg. Anybody else at that stage? And if so what are you thinking

Usernamesarenoteasy · 18/02/2025 18:03

@Tubbytiger I've done 2 weeks on 5mg. I have a 7.5 in thw fridge and another on the way. I might stick at 5 though, i plan on doing the bonus dose so have anither three weeks, but i wanted to have the option there.

Usernamesarenoteasy · 18/02/2025 18:05

NSV!
I've had to start wearing my fitbit one hole smaller on the wristband. It was annoying me earlier, and i realised I'd actually done it 2 holes smaller without it being ridiculously tight!
I never even thought to measure my wrists 🤣 but they're obviously smaller.

Pasttheline · 18/02/2025 19:05

@Tubbytiger I take my third jab of 5mg tomorrow and will definitely stay at 5mg for my next order. I feel it currently works perfectly for me in that I am able to easily manage a sensible calorie deficit. No side effects (apart from a dry mouth all the time!). I’ve lost 22lbs since Jan 1st which is excellent.
