Anyone interested in a new thread for those of us taking the plunge this month?

OP posts:

In week three and have a low level headache.

I am really not eating much but my weight loss has plateaued. Not too worried as I am sure it will pick up again.

Hi I’ve realised that Boots is way more expensive than other providers. Any recommendations? Thanks

I'm using medexpress, got 40 quid off using my friends discount so was £110. I think it's 140 for my next pen but found that cheaper than some others. If you want a code let me know and I'll pm you

TinyKittenPaw · 26/01/2025 16:51

Hello Everyone - can i join? First jab tomorrow.

hanr84 · 26/01/2025 16:58

Hi everyone, took my first jab today! Feeling excited but really hoping I don't get any horrid side effects. Seems to be really hit and miss as to who suffers.

Midlifecrisisxamillion · 26/01/2025 17:39

Such a bad stomach today. Not sure why as it's week 3 with no issues until today.

Souredgrapes · 26/01/2025 19:27

hope everyone is well . Took my 4th dose of 2.5mg on Thursday , decided to inject the “bonus dose “ on Friday for the hell of it . No side effects whatsoever other than cannot be bothered with food. It’s like the need or desire for food does not exists in my brain . It’s the weirdest feeling. I had 2 social events yesterday that involved food , an early breakfast and a late lunch . I ordered eggs benedict for breakfast and could only eat one of the poached eggs and some of the ham . I left the muffin , the other egg , most of the sauce and remaining ham . It felt a bit awkward when our plates were cleared away but a concerned looking waiter but I genuinely just couldn’t be bothered to eat it all . I wasn’t full , I wasn’t uncomfortable . My brain just wasn’t engaged with wanting to eat.

Lunch thank fully was a number of small plates / tapas between a group of us so no one really noticed that I picked at a few things . A win as it could have been a calorific weekend , but no damage done.

Choux · 26/01/2025 19:51

I have to say @Souredgrapes you have been lucky that all you have is a lot of food aversion. Getting your body used to Mounjaro means - per the official guidance - 4 weeks of 2,5mg before moving up to 5mg. People who take the bonus dose (which can be up to 3.75mg if using an insulin syringe) usually take it as the 5th dose as a bridge between 2.5mg and 5mg.

Going from 2.5mg to 5mg is the only time the dose you take doubles from one week to the next. It's often a time when anyone who is sensitive to the drug suffers with adverse effects which could be bowel issues or vomiting or both. That's why the guidance is to spend 4 weeks at 2.5mg. By taking two 2.5mg or bigger doses 1 day apart you have only spent 3 weeks at 2.5mg.

Maybe most people will be fine but having been on these threads for almost a year I can recall two people ending up being hospitalized due to the side effects they have suffered from either taking too much or continuing to inject when they already had adverse side effects and countless others have been unable to work, leave the house etc for several days. It is a prescription drug even if you haven't been prescribed it at your GPs surgery.

Thanks! Think I’m going with them and managed to find a code online. So much cheaper than boots!

I've just ordered from Pill Sorted. £99 plus £6 for delivery. They have an offer on atm for £50 off your first order

Such a bad stomach today. Not sure why as it's week 3 with no issues until today.

Try to drink as much fluid as you can and small but regular amounts of bland food. It could just be something you have eaten or a bug so see what happens over the next day or two.

If you look at the graph I have attached it shows that every week the amount of Mounjaro in your system increases even though you are injecting the same 2.5mg each week. Mounjaro has a half life of 5 days so after 5 days your body still has half the drug in your system. So you can start to get side effects on week 3 or 4 of a dose even though you were ok on it at first.

See how quickly you feel better. If it's bad you should get advice from your prescriber. Some people can lose all the weight they need to lose on 1.75mg or 2mg a week. Some stay on 2.5mg the whole time and the weekly side effects gradually lessen as their body gets used to it. Am not sure the prescribers like to advise anything other than 2.5mg weekly but you can also ask on one of the threads for those who started earlier what advice they can give. I don't have much advice as never had any difficult side effects on any dose. Hope you feel better soon.

That's really helpful thank you. I'd forgotten that it builds up. I'm due week 4 jab tomorrow but might hold off until Tuesday. Will see how I feel tomorrow.

Jjff89 · 27/01/2025 19:06

Thought I would check in after my first week.

On 2.5mg took firat does laat monday and seond on the friday to bring jab day forward to cover weekends.

Start weight - fluctuating between 17st and 16.13.

Current weight after 7 days 16st 5.

Eating 1200 calories a day usually under as not really hungry.

Drinking 4l water a day.

Walking about an hour a day moderate intensity up and down hills.

Very pleased!

MathsMagpie · 27/01/2025 19:45

I've eaten so much today, I'm still hungry! Due dose 4 Wednesday but considering doing it a day early. Has anyone done that? Medexpress said you can change day as long as there is at least 3 days between doses. I'm not 100%!

I think I'm probably ready for the 5mg dose next.

Yes it's fine to take a dose a day early.

Souredgrapes · 28/01/2025 07:12

Morning all. Morning @Jjff89 , that’s a great start, congrats .

MsSquiz · 28/01/2025 12:02

Hi 👋 can I join you guys?

I took my first dose yesterday, 0.6mg and already feeling noticeably less hungry/less desire to snack.

I'm currently 13st 3lbs and would like to get down to 10st as I'm only 5'1".

Trying to drink more water is my sticking point.

I'm also using my fitness pal to keep track of my calorie intake and need to get into a good exercise regime

We're similar heights and weights. I presume it's not MJ you're on as you mentioned 0.6mg?

BusyBeatle · 28/01/2025 13:34

Hi everyone.

Has anyone gone up to 5ML yet? I started on December 30th. So took last dose at the same time as the bonus dose. No side effects but my suppression has decreased and food noise increased. I have read a few posts stating the same thing. I miss not being interested in food 😩

MsSquiz · 28/01/2025 15:12

@Midlifecrisisxamillion sorry, I was distracted by the little one 🤦🏻‍♀️ it's 2.5mg. No idea where the 0.6 came from

JoanCollinsDiva · 28/01/2025 16:36

Hi all 👋
Just placemarking to keep the thread on my list. I'm W2 D5 and lost 4lbs in my first week. I'm experiencing good suppression and finding it easy to keep within my 1200 calorie limit - but obviously it's early days! No real side effects other than tired/bit of a headache/slight diarrhoea. One other thing I've noticed is that I can't drink as much tea and coffee - I was having around 6-8 cups a day and have only been having one tea in the morning and then a coffee mid morning since injecting. Trying to drink herbal tea instead. I feel like I've gone off loads of things, mainly unhealthy things so that's good!

2littleonesx · 28/01/2025 23:08
