PS (sorry). anyone who’s been on the high dose for a while found that the desire for sweet foods has returned, although not to the extent it used to be? In the old days I could easily eat a full box of Lindt truffles no problem but they’re actually too sweet now so it’s 2 max. The first few months of taking MJ I just didn’t fancy chocolate at all tho.

@TimeIretired I'm a bit like that - some of my cravings for alcohol and sweets have returned on 15mg. I can now drink a reasonable amount but still nothing like a year ago. I'm finding the same with you about sweets. They taste of nothing but sugar and just aren't as satisfying. We've had a small box of celebrations open for a few days and I think I've had 5-6 total when before I would have smashed them all within a day or two.

We went away for a couple of weeks in October and I haven't paid much attention to my nutrition since then. I have become lax since getting close to goal and the fact that I'm still losing with a fairly poor but low-cal diet. It's very easy on 15mg to only eat 1 proper meal a day and not be hungry.

From January I'm going to concentrate on my food intake again, monitoring protein and alcohol especially. My aim for 2025 is to re-build muscles and continue to improve my fitness.

My biggest shock this Christmas was waking up this morning at 9st 13. I'd been hovering at the same weight for 6wks and didn't think it would move.
No way it will stay that way given the massive meal I've eaten and the huge trifle portion. I don't usually drink but I will probably have some rum tonight.

The size 12 dress I wore was loose on me as I've lost such a huge amount from my chest. Crazy to think I was a size 20/22 this time last year.

KeepingUndercover · 26/12/2024 10:23

How was everyone's day? I was at the tail end of the week injection wise so it worked quite well. Didn't go mad with the food, none of the usual grazing through the day. But I was able to properly enjoy a decent amount of Christmas lunch and a glass of wine. I felt like the balance was just right, so I'm very pleased.

Wonkypictureframe · 26/12/2024 10:29

Good!

My last bonus dose on Monday didn’t work (pen totally gave up) so I unexpectedly finished last week instead. I’m still not hearing any food noise though and ate and drank exactly what I wanted yesterday- a smallish roast dinner plus trifle, and some pie and cheese while watching Gavin and Stacey. A glass of champagne and a glass of red wine over the course of the day. It was lovely! DH said he actually really appreciated not feeling over stuffed himself as we made food far less of a thing this year.

KeepingUndercover · 26/12/2024 10:41

That sounds perfect.

GrimDamnFanjo · 26/12/2024 11:04

Had what I thought was a fairly restrained Xmas day but woke up to a 1.9lb gain overnight ffs.
Trying to see it as perhaps helping me to kickstart losses moving forwards as I've been losing the same couple of panda for about 2 weeks.

GrimDamnFanjo · 26/12/2024 11:05

Pounds not panda!!! Fml

I’m a couple of pounds up too. It’s just daily fluctuations for the most part. Don’t let it upset you.

Thebaldprimadonna · 26/12/2024 11:36

I'm off MJ at the minute, so Christmas was rather foodie! Quite shocked at how easily my old eating habits have come back 😬

I think that I will be able to restart in the New Year on 2.5 without any worries that it is still in my system after three weeks.

Thebaldprimadonna · 26/12/2024 11:38

I am going to focus on eating lots of veg between now and the New Year and rid the house of chocolate.

I am in danger of going back up into the next stone and I really don't want that.

KrankyKumquat · 26/12/2024 13:35

About half a lb up for me this morning which isn't too bad. Mostly down to various alcoholic drinks I think - all in much smaller quantities than normal but a lot of variety. I never really enjoy the Christmas dinner itself; after spending half the day in the kitchen, I'm well-over the whole thing by the time I sit down, but do like the extras and leftovers in the following days (we've just had blinis with cream cheese and smoked salmon and later, it'll be a picky tea starring various beige foods and cheese) so I'm expecting worse on the scales tomorrow.
Slightly miffed that despite my pleas, I received loads of chocolate, posh biscuits and booze so god knows how I'm going to avoid them in the coming weeks. May need to gradually sneak them out of the house to a suitable beneficiary if I can find one.

Choux · 26/12/2024 15:59

I'm up a couple of pounds so far too. I think that's nothing and you should give yourselves a break. As soon as I sniff a carb, a chocolate or a glass of wine I put weight on. In the summer I put on 7lbs in two weeks on holiday but lost it within 10 days of starting the low carb, healthy eating again. I expect my Christmas weight gain to disappear fairly sharpish too.

I have been more restrained in previous years and had smaller portions of the things I love and skipped the things I am not bothered about. So less alcohol but still a fair bit of chocolate. And less roast potatoes but a mountain of roasted veg and left room for the cheese.

Got a Twixmas catch up with a friend on Saturday which will involve a long walk so I've decided that is the time to get back to normal eating. Apart from New Year's Eve and New Year's Day lunch which won't be as boozy or treaty as previous years.

Choux · 26/12/2024 16:01

@KrankyKumquat why do you need to sneak them out of the house? Were they given to you by family members? If so I would openly say that you are keen to get back to healthier eating so will be taking their kind gift to share at work or to Aunt Olive as you do want the temptation.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 26/12/2024 23:21

I put 1.2lb on overnight so straight back up into the next stone after 1 whole day under 10st 😄

I was only bought 1 box of chocolates but someone did buy me a hotel chocolat gift card (no bloody value shown on it though which is infuriating). We didn't overbuy on Christmas chocolates this year either. We still have most of the quality street left as they've gone downhill so badly over the years that we've decided we won't buy them again. We also haven't opened the Christmas biscuits. I've eaten a lot of shortbread though 🤫

thehousewiththesagegreensofa · 27/12/2024 09:24

What has surprised me for the past few days is how I can consume loads of some things (cheap chocolates; carbs; custard) but have no interest in other things that I would normally scoff down (expensive chocolates; mince pies; Christmas pudding; lemon tart; bacon sandwich). I am drinking a little but no where near as much as normal. I poured a glass of wine to have with dinner last night and didn't touch it whilst eating or after dinner when I might have had two or three glasses in that sort of situation previously.
An NSV is how much easier it is to make pastry if you can take your rings off!

ThirdStorm · 27/12/2024 10:05

I seem to have also survived Christmas too! I enjoyed a roast with all the trimmings and a pudding of mince pie and Christmas pudding on Christmas Day and a modest cheeseboard on Boxing Day, a few drinks along the way but nothing like what I consumed last year (over the past few days I’ve had two g&t and 2 small glasses of wine!). I feel pretty good. MJ has helped me with moderation!

Choux · 29/12/2024 12:34

I bought new bras! I actually replaced my previous bras which were an M&S set of three. The previous set were probably 1-2 years old and had a bit of give in them which makes them very comfortable. They were 36DD.

Now almost 50lbs lighter they still kind of fit on a tighter pair of band hooks than I used to wear them on. I was surprised the cups were still relatively full but I do still have a body fat of 32-33%. I was spurred to replace them by the very same set going in the M&S sale so I tried on a few and the new ones I bought are a 34D.

So 50lbs lost and they have only reduced by one band size and one cup size. I am hoping upping the exercise might get them down to a C (for 20 years or more I was always a B) but then they might sag more so maybe I should be careful what I wish for!

KrankyKumquat · 29/12/2024 13:41

@Choux
I haven't changed size up-top much either, despite 5st loss, but about to embark on a bra and knicker shopping trip as my current stuff is getting decidedly baggy and I'm not going to get much smaller now, I don't think. Really need to research how to self-measure for bras - you'd think I'd already have this nailed at my age 😄.

I'm back to my Christmas Eve weight this morning after a soup day yesterday so that's good, but still got a house full of shite food so the temptation is great. I'd like to chuck it all but OH is still slowly working his way through it, nobaly assisted by the dog who thinks he's died and gone to heaven...

AgathaMystery · 29/12/2024 13:46

I’ve eaten and drunk as normal. I don’t drink alcohol anymore but I can feel I’ve gained a bit of weight as my mother cooks exclusively with butter and double cream so I will hop on the scales tomorrow before work and see what damage I’ve done.

My mother in law asked me very frankly how much weight I’ve lost and almost keeled over when I said ‘just over 3 stones’ - it’s the first time she’s noticed!

ThirdStorm · 29/12/2024 17:47

@Choux and @KrankyKumquat ive lost 5stone and gone from a 38DD to a 36DD! I’m still wearing one 38DD which was on the small side and now is quite comfortable. Bizarre really.

So this has been the first Christmas in living memory where I’ve not gained! Thank you MJ for regulating me over this usually very difficult food time.

FlappyFish · 29/12/2024 23:50

Bloody hell on the boobs. I’ve gone from a 36G to a 32C.

JanetSnakeholeMacklin · 30/12/2024 06:39

2.5lb gain over Xmas for me. I have already lost 1.5lbs of it and I expect the last 1lb to go in the next day or two now that I'm back to my normal way of eating.
It's picking at the carbs I think! The odd cheese straw or cracker here or there will make a difference to the water retained etc.
I've still managed to work out 6 days a week over Xmas - I even went to the gym on Christmas morning when DH and the kids were having pastries and bucks fizz for breakfast! (Did anyone see the post on mn about someone's husband going to the gym on Xmas day and everyone said he must have been cheating on her because who would do that?!😂)

ThirdStorm · 30/12/2024 07:28

@JanetSnakeholeMacklin ive been known to go for a run on Xmas day. I wasn’t cheating either! 🤣🤣 I get overwhelmed with lots of people so it’s a good way to stay sane during all the festivities!

Wonkypictureframe · 30/12/2024 09:19

I got asked whether I had used the jabs for the first time yesterday. It was someone I don’t know very well who has friends who’ve bought dodgy stuff from the hairdresser to lose a stone so I wasn’t inclined to be truthful! But I did stand up for them when used properly.

I’m still 2lbs up on my Christmas Eve weight which is fine by me - no jab since 17th and I’ve eaten and drunk exactly what’ve wanted to for the last week!

Choux · 30/12/2024 09:44

@Wonkypictureframe I am not telling anyone about Mounjaro unless they would benefit from it themselves and I think they would be inclined to use it or they tell me first they are using it. So that's one friend who already had other friends on it and is now taking it too and my brother who told me he was on it before I told him I was.

I have other overweight friends who I never discuss healthy eating, medical conditions with and I assume they are happy with their lifestyle so I am not going to encourage them to judge my choice to have the support of Mounjaro.
