It's thread 22 time! As usual please fill up the previous thread before we make a start on this one.

Huge congratulations to every one who has made losses, and well done to those who have graduated the mounjaro club! We would love you to come back and share your tips for maintenance so we can all continue to learn and grow from each other.

Pointers for newbies:
Please note: Mounjaro will only be be prescribed initially if your BMI is above 30. If you have additional health conditions you can get the medication with a BMI 27. (Prediabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or heart problems)

This one's the most recent I will also post the image.

Just to copy from the previous thread as it's highly useful information:

https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/cooling-resistant-starch#TOC_TITLE_HDR_6

MabelSpan:
For those who love their carbs, I grow my own veg, including lots of potatoes so eat them most days. You can dramatically increase the amount of resistant starch, a type of fibre, in your potatoes, rice and pasta and bread simply by cooking then cooling, ideally overnight or freezing in the case of bread and then reheating or toasting in the case of bread.

Please remember to do this safely if this is something you would like to do.

In light of being in close proximity to someone who has had complications from Mounjaro, I just want to say for any newbies: We are a wonderful community of Mounjaro users with a wealth of knowledge between us, but we're not a medical service. We are all people who have acknowledged the risk to benefit ratio, and are following our clinicians advice. If you do have any serious side effects listed on the information sheet that comes with your medication, please seek medical advice.

There are no questions too silly, no loss too small to celebrate, no hurdle not worth the challenge and huge congratulations to everyone who has made it this far in their journey and once again, welcome to thread 22.

I'm fibbing apparently. I won't be posting the image of the chart, as it won't let me regardless of what sort of file type I save the image as. If any one else can I will quote it so it's in the See All Op posts or easy to find if it needs to be linked back to.

Catching up some great losses it’s so good to see how everyone is doing.

I am a bit frustrated as have had a step back in dose and gained a little over my holiday. Ina, only 1lb up still but means I have not lost in the last month and am impatient to get going again.

I am going to a posh wedding in a could have weeks and was hoping to drop 5lb before then . I am 5’2” so every lb makes a difference. I also have no idea what suits me any more or what to buy so having a bit of a dress crisis.

Next jab tomorrow and sticking with 7.5 so hope to break into the 10s finally next week . I have not been in the 10s since 6th form so that will be a big milestone for me.

You're amazing. I don't know why it wouldn't let me. Image was under 6mb and was the right format but it just kept arguing with me about it. Mumsnet has a mind of its own.

Well done on only being 1lb up!! That’s amazing after a holiday!

I have gone back too as 10mg wiped me out and so I went back to 7.5 and am now at 9mg which seems to be ok for me side effect wise but weight loss is very slow and stalling every few weeks.

We are the same height (well I’m 5ft 1.5) and I too am having a dress crisis 🤣!

I have purposefully not bought anything new as I was so unsure it would all work and I’d stay the course! I’ve gone from 12st 5.6 in May when I started MJ, to 10st 1 today, so quite a slow loss. Clothes wise, I was a size 18 and now a 12.

I sat on my bed yesterday just thinking I need to accept I’m smaller and get some new clothes!

I want to get to 9st, which May take a while yet but I’m also thinking about maintenance which is a bit stressful. I know we can all do it though as we’ve all done so well 💪.

BeautyPageantDropout · 28/09/2024 12:26

Starting my 10mg pen today and hoping it will have a bit more oomph than 7.5. Does anyone else get a really itchy rash at their injection site? Seems to have only started for me in the last three weeks or so.

Yes, mine last for about 10 days. I've tried most antihistamines and creams which work to an extent, but my surprise favourite and longest lasting is Tiger Balm! I currently have the white one, but have ordered the red as it is supposed to be more potent.

Ellepff · 28/09/2024 14:03

I’m on Ozempic but seem to be the only one left 🤷🏻‍♀️. I just did my first 0.5 injection last night. I lost 12 pounds in my 2 months which is great. Just confused/frustrated that I didn’t lose last week. I even had lost my 2 PMS weeks!

EllieJai44 · 28/09/2024 14:07

Hi all! I've just ordered my first pen, going to start after a trip to London- any tips for starting? Im planning on cutting portions down and increasing exercise during this too.....
I weigh 20st and would like to lose around 4-5 stone
Not sure if I'm living in dreamland there though haha

Hi all
is this the right thread to ask about side effects?
has anyone got extreme dizziness and being lightheaded? I had none for the first 3 weeks and now it’s started all of a sudden, to the point where I have to hold on to the furniture in order not to fall. Quite scary

MJ is known to lower blood pressure. It could be what your are suffering from, best to get it checked.

I typically have low blood pressure and it hasn’t changed (checked at home) but never had dizziness before.

Well thats one thing you can rule out then! Have you changed any meds or reduced your cals a bit too much? I cant think of any other reasons off the top of my head.
I havent experiences any dizziness or lightheadedness myself.

Wow, I seem to be only managing one or two posts per thread, they go so fast, but found you all again! Thank you, OP 😊

Interesting to see both @SilverHeels and @Waspwine are maxing out just below 10mg. I'm the same height as both of you (5'2") and the 10mg gave me such bonkers suppression I could barely eat anything. I'm bumping along at 8-9mg per week and have rolled over into a second pen without going up a dose for the first time.

My loss has slowed to probably only 0.5kg/wk over the past month, but that suits me as I approach a healthy weight. I'm about 1.5kg off the top of healthy BMI, which blows my mind. I want to lose very slowly, to ease into maintenance eating habits and because weirdly, having fantasised for years about people noticing I'm slim, I actually don't like it now when people comment even though they're being complementary! I've lost 20% of my body weight since May so of course it's noticeable, but I'd like the final stages to be imperceptible.

Well done everyone, starting out or in the closing stages - and echoing OPs invitation to share maintenance tips - I need to learn how to do that next!

Oh top tip, thank you! I'll try that.

Hi all. I missed almost the entirety of the last thread! Will have to go back and catch up.
I am nearly at maintenance now. Currently at 64.6kg, and want to get to 62kg before aiming to maintain. I have 2 5mg pens in the fridge (I’ve only made it up to 7.5mg, I tried a week of 10mg and it was horrendous), so plan to use them to titrate down with the aim of stopping completely by Christmas.
Hope everyone is doing ok!

We're at a similar stage - I'm at 62kg (started at 80 - which as a shorty put me easily into obese). Under 61kg puts me under BMI 25. I'm aiming to get to mid-range at around 56kg, and then have some bounceback room to work out maintenance but stay under 60kg forever.

Do you have a plan for titrating down? I'm not sure how best to do this!

Not really, I’m going to play it by ear a bit I think. After my last dose of 7.5mg I’ll go down to 5 for a couple of weeks, then maybe 3.75, then 2.5. But really I think I’ll just see how it goes!
62kg puts me at a BMI of 22 so it gives me a bit of leeway.

DesparatePragmatist · 28/09/2024 15:46

I'll be so interested to follow your progress - I'll be on your heels! Wishing both of us no food noise and a happy future relationship with eating...

Same here @DesparatePragmatist 10mg was too much for me suppression wise and side effects were very noticeable.

My Weightloss is very slow too and I suspect will now be even slower as I head toward goal.

It feel strange when people notice my weight loss. I get quite shy about it but I think that is because I have yet to update my wardrobe to accommodate my new size so don’t feel I look my best.

I just hope I can maintain once I get to goal!

we are all doing so well 🎉🎉🎉

Sadteacher · 28/09/2024 17:51

@waspwine your post has cheered me up, I’m a similar height and starting weight and have lost 7lbs on pen one. I’m pleased but can’t help compare to those who lose that in a week! I’d love to be 10 stone in a few months like you are, you’ve given me hope it will happen!

3wDavid · 28/09/2024 18:22

MelainesLaugh · 28/09/2024 18:47

Day before 3rd dose of 5mg and I’ve been hungry. But I’m so proud of myself for only having Tandoori chicken and salad from the Indian, with a bit of korma sauce.

I’ve got back into a pair of jeans which are now almost too big - I keep having to yank them up!
