This one's the most recent I will also post the image.

Just to copy from the previous thread as it's highly useful information:

MabelSpan:
For those who love their carbs, I grow my own veg, including lots of potatoes so eat them most days. You can dramatically increase the amount of resistant starch, a type of fibre, in your potatoes, rice and pasta and bread simply by cooking then cooling, ideally overnight or freezing in the case of bread and then reheating or toasting in the case of bread.

Please remember to do this safely if this is something you would like to do.

In light of being in close proximity to someone who has had complications from Mounjaro, I just want to say for any newbies: We are a wonderful community of Mounjaro users with a wealth of knowledge between us, but we're not a medical service. We are all people who have acknowledged the risk to benefit ratio, and are following our clinicians advice. If you do have any serious side effects listed on the information sheet that comes with your medication, please seek medical advice.

There are no questions too silly, no loss too small to celebrate, no hurdle not worth the challenge and huge congratulations to everyone who has made it this far in their journey and once again, welcome to thread 22.

@MabelSpan i had the nausea. The best thing for me is Avomine tablets.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 29/09/2024 18:24

MabelSpan · 29/09/2024 15:30

Hi folks,
I am on 5mg, due to do my third jab tomorrow.
I am experiencing my most persistent and miserable day of nausea, I have had it on and off since upping to 5mg, after having virtually no side effects on 2.5mg. Cyclizine, which worked before hasnt helped at all today.
I have just drunk a lemon and ginger komucha and am hoping that might help.
I have ordered some Kwells.
I might go and pick some mint and make a mint tea.
Can any of you who have experienced the misery that is mj nausea, recommend something that you have found to help?
I am now considering reducing tomorrows jab down to 4mg 🙁

You could titrate down to 3.75 for a week or 2 and slowly increase up to 5mg.

I am on 7.5 and I am still doing 7.5 per week but I'm not having it all at once I am doing 5 days at 5 and 2 days at 2.5, so you could count clicks and do 2.5 and then another 2.5 half way through the week if you're sure 5mg is the right dose for you.

It's not a race and it's early days for you so it's all about finding out what works best for you.

I would definitely consider dropping down to 3.75 for a bit and then doing half and half for a few weeks after that if it were me.

placemarking- thank you!

LucyBnotG · 29/09/2024 18:31

@Jimmyneutronsforehead May I ask, is there a reason you're doing 7.5mg split into 5mg & 2.5mg? Rather than 2 x 3.75mg? From a place of curiosity, not criticism!

MabelSpan · 29/09/2024 18:48

Thanks @GingerLemonTea I will try some of those.

@Jimmyneutronsforehead Thank you, yes I will definitely count clicks tomorrow, I did the bonus from my 2.5mg and that gave me 3.25mg and I was fine on that, just as I was the 2.5mg. I think I might try 48 clicks/4mg tomorrow and see how I get on with that.
You are so right about it being early days and not a race. I am in this for the long haul and happy to stick with lowest dose possible and take my time. I have my next 5mg pen in the fridge🙂

@Jimmyneutronsforehead May I ask, is there a reason you're doing 7.5mg split into 5mg & 2.5mg? Rather than 2 x 3.75mg? From a place of curiosity, not criticism!

I'm easily distractable and very stuck to routines and it seems like Mondays and Fridays are the easiest days for me to coordinate both remembering and having the time to clean, inject, and dispose of the needle ends without it interfering in being needed by my autistic child.

It's just more convenient for me and I don't feel like I get any suppression at all on less than 5mg so it's like 5mg gets me most of the way there and the 2.5mg top up just rounds it off. I suppose I could do it 3.75 and 3.75 if I was able to make sure I had the time and space midweek to do it but it's never a guarantee for me I'm afraid.

OP posts:
Jimmyneutronsforehead · 29/09/2024 18:57

I have only done 1 proper week like this though, I meant to do this last week and did 5mg but then I didn't have 5 minutes to even do the 2.5 at all, so this might not be a long term solution for me.

I am just finding 7.5 too harsh, and 5mg isn't giving me a full week of suppression but it does the job most of the week mildly enough so I can still eat but make good conscious choices about what I eat and how much.

If anyone goes to Costco, there are some good bits there at the moment.
Optimum Nutrition protein shake powder, various flavours, £42 for 54 servings,
Premier High Protein shakes, chocolate, £17.99 for 12, 160cal and 30g protein,
Clear protein Vimto flavour £28ish for 914g
Their vitamins are usually good value too, the Vitamin D3 is a higher strength than the UK one and is over a years supply for £6.60

Hi guys. It's been a while since I posted.
I've lost 57lbs in just under 4 months. I'm super happy with the weightloss and feeling grateful.
However, I am noticing significant hairloss. I've ordered some personalised vitamins from Nourish (dm me if you want a discount code!) but I wondered if anyone has experienced similar and has any recommendations to help with hairloss please 🙏🙏
I don't want to come off MJ yet even thought I've reached my target weight because it's been amazing for my digestion. I actually cannot believe how much better it is 😅

I have seen massive improvements in my digestion too, my IBS symptoms have practically disappeared.
I can’t help on the hair loss front though, I am having the same issue.

Thank you for explaining. I'm very happy on 2.5mg at the minute but I'm considering my options for if/when I need to move up. I'm very interested in the split doses, so I'm intrigued to see how it's working for other people. Thank you so much for sharing.

I'm sorry you've had such a busy week, you must have a lot on at the moment.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 29/09/2024 21:01

@LucyBNotG just quit my job a few days ago so hopefully my weeks get a lot less busy 😅😂

Now the dog is stable and better, and now DP is also recovering (although still grieving the loss of butter) and DSs EHCP for specialist provision has gone to panel I am crossing my fingers, toes, legs, boobs and anything else that will cross that things should start to become a lot more manageable. I'm feeling very optimistic about it all, which is a big stress relief.

I know a lot of people have found the jump from 2.5 to 5 a big step with some side effects as someone rightly pointed out last thread it's the only time you titrate up where you double the dose. You're not guaranteed to get side effects that are unmanageable though so if you do plan to do a straight jump to 5 try and time it so you've not got much on for 48 hours after just in case you do need to manage some symptoms.

By far the most common side effect that has been reported has been constipation and then second to that nausea, then after that even less people have reported hot flushes, and even less people have reported feeling the cold a lot easier, and dizziness.

Get some dulcolax in just in case and avoid oily foods where possible.

I turned down a cupcake today from a friend who is the most amazing baker. Usually I’d have about four if she offered me. But no I turned it down. Who have I become!!!

LucyBnotG · 29/09/2024 22:22

@Jimmyneutronsforehead Less busy but still stressful by the sounds of it! I'm ever so sorry about DP and the butter, those lifestyle changes must be daunting and feel incredibly unfair. Good luck with the EHCP panel! I'm not so familiar with the process once it gets to panel but I spent 10 years working with SEN in mainstream so I have seen that struggle to get to panel so many times.

That's such a good point about the doses. I think I need to stay with 2.5mg for as long as the suppression is sufficient as I have some side effects that are manageable. I would hate to jump up and struggle. I have waves of nausea and stomach issues, the cold thing too which is so strange.

Peggy148 · 29/09/2024 22:58

@SlimforXmas 100% with you on the bad breath, it’s horrendous! I’m permanently chewing gum and drinking mint tea. Isn’t it strange, I think it’s something to do with ketosis (?) when your body starts chomping up your fat reserves. Someone please do correct my mangled understanding of biology if I’m wrong! It’s so bad the dog turns away from me, and his breath could strip paint.

Doghairismyglitter · 29/09/2024 23:59

Hi all, please may I join as an absolute MJ newb? I’ve just ordered my first dose from Med Express after toying with the idea for nearly a year. I was a size 8 before children and 8 years later now a 14. Desperate for some change. I’ve no idea how it works or what to do, so following this thread with great interest!

Doghairismyglitter · 30/09/2024 00:00

ps - do I need to buy anything else like needles or anything? Or is all included in the pack?

MounjaroHereICome · 30/09/2024 00:07

Most providers include needles for each pen. Some providers include needles, alcohol swabs and sharps bin for your first pen. Others don't include at all and you have to purchase them separately.

I've not used med express so you can search up what they include. I believe their pens should come with needles.

Snozzlemaid · 30/09/2024 04:58

I ordered my first pen with Medexpress back in May and I got needles, swabs and sharps bin with it.
Have a read through the information on the first post in this thread and you'll probably find answers to any questions on these Continuing Mounjaro... threads

MelainesLaugh · 30/09/2024 07:57

Took my 3rd 5mg yesterday and gave DH his 2nd 2.5mg. He is refusing to give himself it but is happy for me to do it.

He’s finding joy in telling me all about the positives of the jab, even though I’m aware because I’ve been on it just a few more weeks than him and my results was what made him want to go on it. Men!

InspectorGidget · 30/09/2024 09:00

21 weeks in! Still slow and steady for me. 2lbs off this week which is 28.5lbs so far.

2 mini goals of under 15st and 2st loss this week!

I'm starting to feel so much better again. This weekend I felt lighter and it's given me a boost with the autumnal weather to make a couple of batches of soup and a bolognese.

I'm getting back to intermittent fasting now too and need to up the exercise from a weekly spin to include a body pump class!

Royal Mail have messed about with my Zava delivery which they've had since Thursday (I was in on Friday morning when they said they attempted delivery) and on Saturday I had an email to say they'd delivered with a picture, although it wasn't there!, then the tracker said it was returned to the depot. I'm not worried about the cold chain as it's been chilly all weekend but if it doesn't arrive today I'll get onto Zava.

I'm still on 6.25mg. No plans to increase just yet while I'm still feeling in control.

SW - 236.8lbs
CW - 207.2lbs
GW - 154lbs

Next mini goal is to be under 200lbs.

Good luck to everyone on your journeys! Mine is a long one but as I've said before, this has to be it for me now. I need to break this cycle once and for all!

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 30/09/2024 10:19

Welcome any newbies this morning!

Hope we're all doing OK.

Woke up this morning with an appetite, planned to get DS off to school, have 5mg and a light protein breakfast, and a nap, but I maintain that if you make a plan it's the law of the universe for nothing to ever go to plan.

DS refusing school, keeps needing the bathroom, doctor says its not a UTI, but is a stress response which seems accurate because it's whenever he gets a bit dysregulated he declares he needs the bathroom then it buys him some time.

All I can think about this morning is carbs. A massive bowl of salty pasta. Like a mixing bowl sized bowl of salty pasta. If someone held a gun to my head today and said eat this massive bowl of pasta or you're gonna get it i would be like "say no more, pass the wine and light a candle".

I will resist though, but I do feel like today making good food choices is going to be a challenge.

SnacklessWonder · 30/09/2024 10:24

Official weigh in today and I am now 19lbs off in total so far since 12th August.

Next mini-goal is 3lbs which will get me under 10st for the first time in ages.

Want to lose about another 14lbs which feels like a slog as I'm getting so bored of the foods I am eating so I need to try and shake it up a bit.

Oh no it's horrible when things don't go to plan.

Your talk of craving pasta etc reminds me of the chapter I have just read in Johann Hari's book Magic pill

It talks of all the reasons people eat, and the fact it is not always just for fuel but often eating can be a stress response! (And loads of other possible reasons for eating) This may be why a stressful morning has you craving pasta.

It is really interesting and demonstrates how modern society and an an abundance of food basically sets lots of people to fail to loose weight (as it is not as simple as eating less and move more).

It is a great book for anyone that wants to explore the reasons for obesity/ relationships with food ...even if not on or considering GLP 1s !

SlimforXmas · 30/09/2024 10:30

Thanks @MounjaroHereICome, I decided to go with 5mg last night and feel perfectly fine. I take it at night before bed to avoid the worst of the side effects and that seems to work well. Surgery went well, thank you. The anaesthetist happened to specialise in weight loss surgery and was absolutely comfortable with me taking MJ. I’d previously been told by my own surgeon to stop taking it in the lead up to surgery but the anaesthetist said I needn’t have stopped and he would have just asked me to fast for longer.
