It's thread 22 time! As usual please fill up the previous thread before we make a start on this one.

Huge congratulations to every one who has made losses, and well done to those who have graduated the mounjaro club! We would love you to come back and share your tips for maintenance so we can all continue to learn and grow from each other.

Pointers for newbies:
Please note: Mounjaro will only be be prescribed initially if your BMI is above 30. If you have additional health conditions you can get the medication with a BMI 27. (Prediabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or heart problems)
Mumsnet does not allow promo codes. Please do not post any. If you want one, ask and someone will PM you a code or there are now threads on the promo page that have codes for Mounjaro link below:

This one's the most recent I will also post the image.

Just to copy from the previous thread as it's highly useful information:

MabelSpan:
For those who love their carbs, I grow my own veg, including lots of potatoes so eat them most days. You can dramatically increase the amount of resistant starch, a type of fibre, in your potatoes, rice and pasta and bread simply by cooking then cooling, ideally overnight or freezing in the case of bread and then reheating or toasting in the case of bread.

Please remember to do this safely if this is something you would like to do.

In light of being in close proximity to someone who has had complications from Mounjaro, I just want to say for any newbies: We are a wonderful community of Mounjaro users with a wealth of knowledge between us, but we're not a medical service. We are all people who have acknowledged the risk to benefit ratio, and are following our clinicians advice. If you do have any serious side effects listed on the information sheet that comes with your medication, please seek medical advice.

There are no questions too silly, no loss too small to celebrate, no hurdle not worth the challenge and huge congratulations to everyone who has made it this far in their journey and once again, welcome to thread 22.

Checking in, thanks for the new thread Jimmy. I'm still on 2.5mg lol, I've lost a stone on MJ since 5th August.
I'm still waiting on a poo 💩 whoosh! I've bought Dulcolax today and had 2 at lunchtime. I might also have a slug if Lactulose shortly. Next step is prunes or the last resort is suppository (tmi sorry)

Give the Dulcolax a chance. I’ve used it in the past and the 2 tablets for me was LETHAL.

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 28/09/2024 20:06

Ugh I've had constipation for about 3 weeks and have just had the most awful diarrhea. It guess it finds a way to resolve eventually!

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 28/09/2024 20:33

Currently, cross my fingers, the soft dehydrated figs and apricots you can buy in lidl and other supermarkets have done the trick at keeping me regular.

I did also get some dulcolax as advised by my GP but I've only had to use it once and have just kept up with a daily amount of figs and apricots. I was concerned that they'd use up a lot of my daily calories but because they're so high in fibre they make me feel fuller anyway. I have already had a hemmorhoidectomy once and it was an experience I never ever wish to repeat so for me eating a handful of dried fruit is definitely on balance the best option.

It was my first proper week doing 5mg to cover me monday-friday and topping up 2.5mg top cover friday-sunday, and I was very worried the appetite suppression wouldn't be as high.

I was right the appetite suppression hasn't been as high but there hasn't been any harsh increases in appetite so splitting my 7.5mg dose hasn't been the negative I thought it would be.

It's actually been nice to feel a bit hungry but have the space to still think rationally about what I eat and how much and it's worked because I've dropped a bit of weight.

I am still getting mid week hot flushes but it's not intolerable like it was when I just tried the full 7.5mg all at once.

I've really struggled with body dysmorphia this week though. I've always had a heavy chest and I really short and I feel so out of proportion. I just want to be able to eat crumbly food without it gathering on a shelf, or wear t shirts that look too big held next to me, but when I try them on they are hitched up, and I'm sure there's an element of paranoia, but I feel like it just draws so much attention to me. It's probably an unhealthy motivator but I can't wait till I'm at my goal weight and have reliably maintained because as soon as that happens I'm probably going to start the consultation process.

My little boy got just dance for the switch last Christmas and has never played it, and I really want to give it a go. I loved zumba but not done it for a decade and it just doesn't seem to be a thing anymore. I live with people who are very blunt though and pass a lot of judgement so I'm pretty embarrassed about wanting to do it. I'm not a natural dancer and my hinges need some WD40.

Just checking in. Injection day yesterday so tonight is the bad night. Already got the sulphur burps, belly feels sore already 😔

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 28/09/2024 20:47

@Jimmyneutronsforehead I'm also very top heavy and I hate it. I can completely relate to the crumb shelf 😭I do a lot of video calls for work and I feel like my boobs fill half the screen. I was hoping the weight loss would help but they don't seem to be shrinking.

NippyCrab · 28/09/2024 20:57

@3wDavid thank you, I'll wait and hope it 😂

Haven't been on here for a while, can't believe how many threads there are!!!!!

I started in April, have now lost 50lb and am in some size 10's which blows my mind as I started in size 16's....
I never, ever thought I'd get back in size 10's.

In April I was told I have dangerously high cholesterol, and need statins.
This week I am in the super healthy range, and my GP was shocked at the improvement in my blood results, no treatment needed!

I have had
1 x 2.5mg
2 x 5mg
3 x 7.5mg

Have always use an insulin needle for the 5th dose.
Very few side effects.
Mostly eating 2 meals a day, prioritising protein, no snacking, no eating past 4/5pm.

5 of my close friends & family are also now on MJ and are all doing incredible well.

SO glad I started this!!

Lastchancefatty · 28/09/2024 23:04

Just place marking and to say I went up to 7.5 last week.... however I didn't feel any change to 5 whatsoever and 5 wasn't doing anything with my appetite really. So this morning I injected the back of my arm to see if it made a difference..... So far nothing still but early days. I am losing weight but I can eat quite a lot still and I wanted to be fuller faster so I don't eat as much. I do feel very tired though which is new.

I think they're being sticklers now for putting discount codes in the discount code thread

BeautyPageantDropout · 29/09/2024 00:06

threads were being spammed with discount codes

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 29/09/2024 00:19

Please don't put discount codes in this thread. You can reach out to people via PM if anyone asks for a code, but otherwise mumsnet will move our thread from weight loss to promo codes and we won't reach our intended audience.

101.10kg this morning, eek. I'm so close to breaking into the 100kg barrier. Really surprised because I ate pasta yesterday but I have been doing really well at eating half a meal and waiting 20 minutes to see if I am hungry before I finish it for a few weeks now.

I also changed the site from my belly to my legs and have been alternating legs.

Pot of tea time.

Well done! @Jimmy I've lost around 4lbs (2kg) in my first week on 2.5mg. Currently in my 2nd week and hoping to lose at least the same but ideally more.

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 29/09/2024 10:59

Morning all. Just done my 7.5mg bonus dose and my weekly weigh in is 178.4lbs, a new low. Very pleased and not surprised as I have a bad stomach. No sure if side effects are a bug. BMI is now 26.7, I can't quite believe it.

Stats:
SW 214.8lbs / 15st 4.8
CW 178.4lbs / 12st 10.4
GW 147lbs / 10st 7

Well done @Jimmy you will be below 100kg before you know it.

hopeishere · 29/09/2024 11:56

Can anyone advise for most of them come in plain packaging? Generally how long from ordering to delivery?

MounjaroHereICome · 29/09/2024 12:03

@hopeishere The ones I know and others have used come in plain packaging. The usual ones. If in doubt about a particular provider, you could email and ask them before ordering.

The length of time it takes also depends on the provider. Some are next day delivery, others have reported 2 to 4 days. Some have been delayed too. If you pick a provider, you can look up posts about them to see how long it's taken for posters or you could also email and ask.

SnacklessWonder · 29/09/2024 12:26

Just about to do my 3rd 5mg dose today and then need to order next pen. I am dithering over what to do. First dose of 5mg I didn't feel any different to 2.5mg but second dose and I had awful diarrhoea for three days and couldn't really eat - but equally I was travelling abroad and it could have been upset/eaten something. Suppression is pretty strong on 5mg, and I am losing 1-2lb a week which is fine with me. I am certainly not moving up to 7.5mg so don't know whether to do another 5mg or drop down to 2.5mg. I guess I could see how this week goes on 5mg...

Stats:

SW: 11st 7.8lb
CW: 10st 2.6lb
GW: 9st 4.0lb (but will maybe go a little more to 9st)

Breakdown:

Week 1 2.5mg 5.6lb loss
Week 2 2.5mg 2.0lb loss
Week 3 2.5mg 2.4lb loss
Week 4 2.5mg 1.8lb loss
Week 5 3.33mg 2.4lb loss
Week 6 5.0mg 1.4lb loss
Week 7 5.0mg 3.6lb loss

Last loss though...official weigh-in day is tomorrow but been the same for three days in a row, however I think this was helped by being unwell - and also week 6...I had been at a lower weight the two days previously, so I think really Week 6 was a 2.4lb loss and Week 7 was a 2.6lb loss if you know what I mean!

Any advice?

I wouldn't drop down until you are closer to goal. Stick at 5, if you drop down to 2.5 now it won't feel like it did before because you have built up your tolerance while on 5, so you may not find it effective enough.

Plus they are the same price with most providers so you may as well have the higher dose and get to goal a bit quicker.

SlimforXmas · 29/09/2024 13:30

Hi everyone, thank you for the new thread! had to take a break from MJ to have surgery and am now back on. Grateful for some thoughts on titration. I had 3 weeks 2.5mg doses then took a 3 week break. Then had 2 weeks of 2.5mg doses to finish my first pen. I’ve got a 5mg pen and just wondering how best to use it. Would you go straight on to 5mg given the gap I had or count clicks and take 2.5mg instead?

On a different note, does anyone else have horrendously bad breath in MJ?

MounjaroHereICome · 29/09/2024 14:20

@slimforXmas if you've done 2 more weeks on 2.5mg after your surgery and you were fine, then you could go onto 5mg or count clicks to 3mg or 3.5mg or 3.75mg or 4mg just to ease yourself in if you don't want to go full on 5mg.

Hope your surgery went well. 💐

Hi folks,
I am on 5mg, due to do my third jab tomorrow.
I am experiencing my most persistent and miserable day of nausea, I have had it on and off since upping to 5mg, after having virtually no side effects on 2.5mg. Cyclizine, which worked before hasnt helped at all today.
I have just drunk a lemon and ginger komucha and am hoping that might help.
I have ordered some Kwells.
I might go and pick some mint and make a mint tea.
Can any of you who have experienced the misery that is mj nausea, recommend something that you have found to help?
I am now considering reducing tomorrows jab down to 4mg 🙁

SnacklessWonder · 29/09/2024 18:18

Just did my third 5mg dose. Will see if it makes me ill again this week as last week was rough. If it does I may reduce down to 3.75mg maybe as it's a lot being ill for 3-4 days and not being able to eat as well.
