This one's the most recent I will also post the image.

Just to copy from the previous thread as it's highly useful information:

MabelSpan:
For those who love their carbs, I grow my own veg, including lots of potatoes so eat them most days. You can dramatically increase the amount of resistant starch, a type of fibre, in your potatoes, rice and pasta and bread simply by cooking then cooling, ideally overnight or freezing in the case of bread and then reheating or toasting in the case of bread.

Please remember to do this safely if this is something you would like to do.

In light of being in close proximity to someone who has had complications from Mounjaro, I just want to say for any newbies: We are a wonderful community of Mounjaro users with a wealth of knowledge between us, but we're not a medical service. We are all people who have acknowledged the risk to benefit ratio, and are following our clinicians advice. If you do have any serious side effects listed on the information sheet that comes with your medication, please seek medical advice.

There are no questions too silly, no loss too small to celebrate, no hurdle not worth the challenge and huge congratulations to everyone who has made it this far in their journey and once again, welcome to thread 22.

Official weigh in today and I am now 19lbs off in total so far since 12th August.

Next mini-goal is 3lbs which will get me under 10st for the first time in ages.

Want to lose about another 14lbs which feels like a slog as I'm getting so bored of the foods I am eating so I need to try and shake it up a bit.

I know I differ to a lot of people on here but I haven’t been eating different foods to what I ate before, I’ve just eaten a lot less of it. I always had a good, nutritious diet, my portions were just too large and I drank too much wine on top! So I’ve lost 3 stone just by ditching the wine and cutting portion sizes. I haven’t consciously upped protein as I eat plenty of it anyway, and I haven’t cut anything out, because I never ate anything really ‘bad’. So I don’t feel deprived of anything, because I’m still having everything I enjoy!

@SlimforXmas 100% with you on the bad breath, it’s horrendous! I’m permanently chewing gum and drinking mint tea. Isn’t it strange, I think it’s something to do with ketosis (?) when your body starts chomping up your fat reserves. Someone please do correct my mangled understanding of biology if I’m wrong! It’s so bad the dog turns away from me, and his breath could strip paint.

I walked into the living room and DH was about 3 meters away from me and said he could smell it! It’s so embarrassing. I’ve started freezing lemon slices and popping them into my drinking water and I am rotating mints and gum all day!

Oh no it's horrible when things don't go to plan.

Your talk of craving pasta etc reminds me of the chapter I have just read in Johann Hari's book Magic pill

It talks of all the reasons people eat, and the fact it is not always just for fuel but often eating can be a stress response! (And loads of other possible reasons for eating) This may be why a stressful morning has you craving pasta.

It is really interesting and demonstrates how modern society and an an abundance of food basically sets lots of people to fail to loose weight (as it is not as simple as eating less and move more).

It is a great book for anyone that wants to explore the reasons for obesity/ relationships with food ...even if not on or considering GLP 1s !

I don't usually emotionally eat but I would make an exception for pasta in any situation 😂 Anxiety, depression, stress, mania, insomnia, hypersomnia, hives, severed limb or rigor mortis? Pasta will cure all ails.

I will have a read though.

It's probably massively outdated now but That Sugar Film documentary really stuck with me when I first watched it. I used to really binge on sugar and I don't much care for it any more so I guess I did take something away from that.

How did I miss the new thread. I wondered why my notifications had gone silent lol.

Had my first 5mg yesterday.
Have done 2.5mg x4
3ish x1
3.75 x2
5mg

Going to weigh soon. I've been trying to eat more after my stall as I realised I wasn't eating anywhere near enough. Still struggling with fluid intake even though I happily drank 3 litres a day at the start. Also find swallowing my tablets harder but someone mentioned their gag reflex being worse on mj & I realised it did coincide.

Hope everyone is well.

QueenOfHiraeth · 30/09/2024 11:34

I weigh and measure on Tuesdays but was hopeful I'd break my 3 week stall as I did a sneaky weigh in on Fri and looked to be down a kilo but, after a reasonable weekend, I sneakily checked this morning and have regained half of it 😡
I have, in a fit of pique, changed injection to my arm this morning in the hope that it will shake things up

I have to eat different as I had a really bad diet before, hence overweight! I can't for instance, eat pizza like I used to as it's too many calories and I am sticking to a 1200 calorie deficit.

I find if I just eat less of it then whilst it is high in calories it's not satisfying or high enough in protein or nutrients so I have changed the way I eat but I am just a bit bored of it as it's got a bit repetitive. I never really used to eat much protein and I was very very carb heavy (think lasagne, with garlic bread, and chips...I like carbs with my carbs!)

I was loving salads with different toppings, proteins, dressings etc but now the weather has turned they've lost their appeal!

MabelSpan · 30/09/2024 12:03

@Jimmyneutronsforehead I decided to go with your advice and took 3.75mg today. If this keeps the nausea and food noise away whilst keeping the supression I would be very happy to stay at this level. I can always do the split dose like you do if needed.
We shall see how the week progresses😊
Thanks again

QueenOfHiraeth · 30/09/2024 12:30

@SnacklessWonder Do you mean a 1200cal deficit or a total daily intake of 1200?
A 1200 deficit is huge and possibly not healthy, the normal recommended is about 500 deficit for a weight loss of 1-2lb a week

SnacklessWonder · 30/09/2024 12:52

Sorry @QueenOfHiraeth was replying between meetings. I mean total calories of 1200!

My maintenance calories actually only work out at around 1600 Confused so 1200 is only 400 under what I should be consuming.

Although I won't lie on days when suppression is high I only manage around 900 but I try to get as close to 1200 as possible.

MounjaroHereICome · 28/09/2024 10:41

This one may be clearer.

Does anyone use Ashcroft pharmacy? I've been with MedExpress but notice that Ashcroft is cheaper for 10mg up. MedExpress have been ok but I've ended up with extra pens in the fridge cause I've ordered when they've emailed to & it's been too early really. I have a full 5mg & a 7.5mg in the fridge so it's gonna throw me now as I don't know whether I'll need to go up or not until I use them. Think it's gonna mess me about for ordering as it'll look like I've taken a break. Don't want to keep adding more to the fridge until I've at least started the next pen. Hope that makes sense.

SnacklessWonder · 30/09/2024 13:34

You don't have to order when they say @MamaBearH I just ignore their emails and texts and order when I am ready. I've just taken 3rd dose of 5mg and I won't order until after taken 4th dose.

I should have paid more attention to my own dates. When the emails came in to say order now to get it in time etc I panicked. Now I've realised it's left me too far ahead of myself. Not sure if I were to email another pharmacy & explain that, would they allow me a break between ordering or make me restart? Like my 7.5 pen was actually ordered last week (week before?) but I won't be finished that for another 8 weeks (10 if I use the extra in the 2 pens I have).

FlappyFish · 30/09/2024 13:51

Hi @Jimmyneutronsforehead and all here from Flappy in maintenance world. Unmedicated maintenance by the way. I had my last MJ 10 days ago after titrating down.

so far, so good. Had my period during that time. Gained the water and hormone weight day after period ended dropped 2lbs gain and the next day the other 2lbs.

Am sat at 9st 6lbs.

I have been eating more. Including toast again. Yay to toast. I am just doing what MJ made me do. Listen to my body and don’t shovel.

All the new clothes from Vinted in an 8 or 10 help. Not going to lie. 😅

Back swimming again post period and generally just in a content little place.

Brilliant! I’ll be where you are in not too long (9 st 6 is also my goal weight!) in unmediated maintenance, so it’s good to see your update.

This one may be clearer.

I've just went on to Ashcroft pharmacy's website & it's telling me £165 for the 10mg pen but this table says £150 -are you supposed to use a code or are the prices in the table not accurate?

Unmedicated I mean!

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 30/09/2024 14:56

@MamaBearH apparently Ashcroft put their prices up suddenly last week!
Look heree* for more up to date pricing and codes.

Looks like monj.co.uk has had a redesign! 😁 Looking very slick👍👍

pinktransit · 30/09/2024 15:42

Jumping back in after a quiet couple of weeks. Still at Mum's, so still not entirely in control of my menu. But all is going well, still losing steadily so that's good.

SW: 12.6.6
CW: 9.4.8
GW 8.11.0 (I think. Not entirely sure as yet, but that puts me in the middle of a healthy BMI).

Current BMI is 23.1, and I am concerned about maintenance. I think I'll book a consultation with Oushk and see where that takes me. Ideally, I would like to titrate down and see how that goes.

I'm under 60kg for the first time in many years - think I hit 9 stone just over 20 years ago, but went upwards fairly swiftly after that.

NSV - a pair of size 10 super skinny jeans that I bought as motivational jeans are now comfortable. I still hold them up though and think that I'll never fit in something so small. 😀

Ellepff · 30/09/2024 15:51

How is everyone’s loss around their period? I’m due in a few days and haven’t shifted weight in a week. This would have been normal for me before semaglutide, but my first 2 cycles on it I kept losing with no pause.
I’m also wondering if I might be a bit blocked up (embarassing) because I’m pooping every day but it seems too little. Might try a half dose of senna tonight.

I usually gain or maintain 😩

Snozzlemaid · 30/09/2024 18:47

@MamaBearH I don't think another pharmacy will mind or notice if you don't place an order for a few weeks.
When I changed I only had to confirm what dose I was currently taking so they had no idea when I'd last bought a pen.
If you have any problems when you do order again I'm sure you could then let them know that as you ordered too often before you had built up a stock to use up.

my actual period does not affect my weight loss, but my ovulation does! literally 3-4 days before I ovulate and for a 3-4 days after (basically that "fertile" week we all have) - I go up and down (or stay the same) the same 1 lb. Then a few days later - whoosh - 3 lbs down, or something like that! It's crazy, it's happened every time since I've started without a fail

It’s ovulation that affects me too, rather than my period.

Evening friends! Blimey rollercoaster week on the scales, I’ve broken into the 70s!!!! First time in at least 10 years, although I’m due my period this week so I fully expect to be 800kg tomorrow and look as bloated as the marshmallow man in ghostbuster. Joy. But still, NSV!

I was 90kg and BMI of 30 on the nose when I started MJ but have some underlying health issues which prompted my GP to suggest it. I’m so glad a started. Goal is 62kg so still a fair way to go but it feels much more achievable today than it did at 90kg. Thanks to @Jimmyneutronsforehead and @chico for the pep talk a few weeks ago. You were right!

I am also ready to order my next step up to 10mg with MedExpress BUT when I go to order it keeps telling me my step up is 7.5mg. It’s really not, MedExpress prescribed me 7.5mg four weeks ago….

Anyone else has this problem? A system glitch or do I need to email them (groan).
