It's thread 22 time! As usual please fill up the previous thread before we make a start on this one.

Huge congratulations to every one who has made losses, and well done to those who have graduated the mounjaro club! We would love you to come back and share your tips for maintenance so we can all continue to learn and grow from each other.

Pointers for newbies:
Please note: Mounjaro will only be be prescribed initially if your BMI is above 30. If you have additional health conditions you can get the medication with a BMI 27. (Prediabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or heart problems)
Mumsnet does not allow promo codes. Please do not post any. If you want one, ask and someone will PM you a code or there are now threads on the promo page that have codes for Mounjaro link below:

This one's the most recent I will also post the image.

Just to copy from the previous thread as it's highly useful information:

https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/cooling-resistant-starch#TOC_TITLE_HDR_6

MabelSpan:
For those who love their carbs, I grow my own veg, including lots of potatoes so eat them most days. You can dramatically increase the amount of resistant starch, a type of fibre, in your potatoes, rice and pasta and bread simply by cooking then cooling, ideally overnight or freezing in the case of bread and then reheating or toasting in the case of bread.

Please remember to do this safely if this is something you would like to do.

In light of being in close proximity to someone who has had complications from Mounjaro, I just want to say for any newbies: We are a wonderful community of Mounjaro users with a wealth of knowledge between us, but we're not a medical service. We are all people who have acknowledged the risk to benefit ratio, and are following our clinicians advice. If you do have any serious side effects listed on the information sheet that comes with your medication, please seek medical advice.

There are no questions too silly, no loss too small to celebrate, no hurdle not worth the challenge and huge congratulations to everyone who has made it this far in their journey and once again, welcome to thread 22.

Similar to you, I’m on my 8th dose of 7.5mg and have really struggled with eating this week. I’ve even vomited 3 times (on separate days). It’s really bizarre (and unpleasant!)

It’s so strange isn’t it, I wonder what is causing it, I’ve had a generally great time on 7.5mg after from side effects on 5mg. But now even looking at food just makes me want to vom. I am considering delaying my next dose on Monday for few days just so I can eat something wholesome.

NewLifter · 10/10/2024 21:10

Well I'm the opposite, I've eaten more today than I have ever had since starting MJ! Think I'm on 1500 calories or so, I normally have 1200 (had lunch out so it's an estimate).

I took my 6th injection from my pen this morning and am regretting it already 🙈 I took 0.54mls which is my biggest dose yet but I'm already thinking it was stupid taking a 6th dose instead of starting my new 5mg pen and binning the leftovers 🙈

I usually have great suppression right through the whole week. I feel like I could just keep eating tonight (I won't!)

Will be interesting to see how the rest of the week goes.

I guess it's good to test my own will power 🫣😂

I’m thinking the same. It feels like my body needs a break for a couple of days so I can get some nutrition in.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 11/10/2024 08:02

I'm having the opposite. I am still hungry.

I think what I'm going to try is taking my 5mg one day and rather than waiting 5 days to take my 2.5mg top up, I'm going to take it the next day so it builds up in my body quicker.

I'm going to try it today. I'm sure it hasn't helped that I've been late taking my dose for a few weeks, but I am interested to see if I get the side effects of 7.5mg by taking it over the course of 2 days rather than all in one go.

I've woke up so hungry I feel a bit sick from it but all we've got in is everyone else's safe foods which are sugary stodgy carbs at the moment and once I start I might not stop before I have strong regrets.

Absolutely devastated that t house has been hit with a second stomach bug within 8 weeks. Yesterday was awful and following on from the horrific constipation last week my insides feel so very sore and my stomach muscles are in agony. So much so it's hard to even stand up straight. The flatulence today is constant, literally a proper full on fart every twenty/thirty seconds. My poor DH was so brave sharing a bed with me last night. Going to be going very light on the diet in the next few days. Thinking miso broth to start today, then tomorrow possibly live yoghurt and some non acidic fruit, and scrambled eggs.

Second month of 5mg.

Starting weight. 7aug. 17st 5
Today's weight 15st 7lb

Just coming on here to say that in 4.5 months on MJ, I’ve now finally hit my 4 stone loss!
I feel soooo much better! And I must look so much better because I keep getting comments from the most random people - nursery teachers in DD’s nursery, a lady I run into on my walks, someone in my gym class… It feels amazing to know even these complete strangers notice a difference big enough to mention!

I started at 107 kg end of May, and I’m now 81 kg. I’ve gone from size 18 jeans to a size 14/12!
I still want to lose as I want to get to a healthy BMI, so my goal is 70 kg and then gradually decreasing doses until I use up my pens and then stopping.
Call me optimistic but I really think I might get to goal by January! And definitely by my Birthday in Feb! And then maintenance here I come!!

KrankyKumquat · 11/10/2024 09:27

@3wDavid
Well done you, that's great!
When I started, my goal was 3st to hit top of healthy bmi but now I'm just a couple of lbs off 4st. It's unbelievable isn't it? I'm sure you'll reach your goal by your birthday, if not before.

Congratulations! I think you and I started at much the same time, and looks like we’ve hit the 4 stone loss at the same time too!

My maintenance plan is Invisalign, to keep me on the straight and narrow, quite literally 😁

Paperwhite13 · 11/10/2024 09:46

Congratulations @3wDavid!

We have almost identical start and goal weights, and I should hit the 4st loss by the 27th October which will be four months on Mounjaro.

Can I ask how tall are you? I'm trying to get a good gauge of if my GW is where it should be.

MelainesLaugh · 11/10/2024 09:58

I’ve done it! I’ve hit the 14stone bracket. Admittedly only just but I don’t care, I’m there.

I started 21st August

SW 16st 4lb
CW 15st 13lb

Fingers crossed I’ll be at a stone and a half loss when I reach my two anniversary. Not bad for someone who can’t exercise due to chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia

3wDavid · 11/10/2024 10:00

@AelitaQueenofMars lol 😄😄😄 Not a bad idea though! 😁

Paperwhite13 · 11/10/2024 10:04

Thanks @3wDavid! I'm 171cm so just about the same!

Congrats @MelainesLaugh! 🎉

It's so exciting to hear about everyone’s experiences, journey and success 💕

Mencia · 11/10/2024 12:06

I’m on my third week of 10mg (MJ since mid April) and thinking of going 7.5 next week as I’m experiencing terrible nausea for a couple of days every week since on 10. I inject on a Monday and then feel horrible on Tue/Wed, anything I eat does not sit well with me and end up vomiting at night. So will test if I feel better on 7.5 as I need to go to the office on these days and struggle with the nausea feeling

This is exactly what happened to me on 10mg so I went back down to 7.5mg. I’m now having the same thing on 7.5mg!

Well done all! Great to see such progress
I am plodding along slower than many of you but, being older and relatively inactive, it is understandable. I started mid-May at 110kg and am currently about 95kg, down from a size 24 to a 20 😊

Quick question for anyone who has counted clicks. If I plan to use about 50 clicks, do I need to count all 50 from zero or can I just fully wind it to 60 then count 10 back?

QueenOfHiraeth · 11/10/2024 14:19

Any more news on your DH @Jimmyneutronsforehead ? Hope he is improving and/or getting some answers

Just carefully count 50 clicks from the start.

I have to concentrate though or I easily lose track!!

QueenOfHiraeth · 11/10/2024 14:36

@Pinkbendyman That's my concern! I'm worried I'l start, get befuddled and do it all wrong!

Swissrollover · 11/10/2024 15:11

@QueenOfHiraeth I either count back from 60, or each full revolution (where 0 lines up with window) is 20 clicks. Or you can use a pen and simply mark the line at 50 clicks.

Chasqui · 11/10/2024 15:23

Hi Everyone. Just popping on to say that whilst I still have a way to go, I am looking good in the Zara jeans I haven't been able to fit into for 5 years.😀

Onwards and downwards!
