It's thread 22 time! As usual please fill up the previous thread before we make a start on this one.

Pointers for newbies:
Please note: Mounjaro will only be be prescribed initially if your BMI is above 30. If you have additional health conditions you can get the medication with a BMI 27. (Prediabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or heart problems)

This one's the most recent I will also post the image.

Just to copy from the previous thread as it's highly useful information:

https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/cooling-resistant-starch#TOC_TITLE_HDR_6

MabelSpan:
For those who love their carbs, I grow my own veg, including lots of potatoes so eat them most days. You can dramatically increase the amount of resistant starch, a type of fibre, in your potatoes, rice and pasta and bread simply by cooking then cooling, ideally overnight or freezing in the case of bread and then reheating or toasting in the case of bread.

Please remember to do this safely if this is something you would like to do.

In light of being in close proximity to someone who has had complications from Mounjaro, I just want to say for any newbies: We are a wonderful community of Mounjaro users with a wealth of knowledge between us, but we're not a medical service. We are all people who have acknowledged the risk to benefit ratio, and are following our clinicians advice. If you do have any serious side effects listed on the information sheet that comes with your medication, please seek medical advice.

There are no questions too silly, no loss too small to celebrate, no hurdle not worth the challenge and huge congratulations to everyone who has made it this far in their journey and once again, welcome to thread 22.

Has anyone found 7.5mg a really weird one. Sugar cravings and cravings in general have increased, suppression is still ok though. But the indigestion for a few days after jabbing is a nightmare.

Yes, not food wise though. I literally couldn't alot on 7. 5 I had 100% appetite suppression and felt incredibly ill on it. Low blood pressure, racing pulse, generally felt not well but couldn't pin point a specific, rather the culmination of all of the above.
Ive taken 6.25 ever since and been fine

SilverHeels · 08/10/2024 10:15

@Jimmyneutronsforehead thinking of you and hoping he is ok.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 08/10/2024 10:37

Thank you everyone.

Just got off the phone with him and he sounds knackered so I've said ill not visit yet. Nowt worse than not being able to sleep because you're in pain and then when you finally dose off you've got visitors. He has been given ample pain killers for now.

Just sat twiddling my thumbs for now. Wonder how many calories I can burn thumb twiddling.

I am going to make some healthy eating choices today though. I'm going to start by making some sort of egg based breakfast, and I think I might get the slow cooker out and make another chicken noodle soup for tea. I've got time to plan ahead so I probably should use it to my advantage. It's not often that I do the cooking.

I need new snack recommendations that are sort of ready cooked proteins either shelf stable or don't take up much fridge space, and if they're spicy it's a big bonus. I don't feel snacky, but I think my stalls are because I'm not eating as frequently. I do love a good boiled egg but the thought of storing them and eating them later gives me an ick I just can't get over even though it's irrational.

Ooohhhh I've started 7.5 today, headache has started within 15 mins of taking it...the same headache I had on day 1 of 2.5 back in June. I feel quite odd, slightly woozy, and a strange metallic taste in my mouth, like I'm tasting my fillings. ..

It could be a coincidence and not jab related but I definitely feel different abd very quickly after taking it.

SnacklessWonder · 08/10/2024 11:49

I get a headache after every jab @butterfly0404. The metallic taste is a totally normal side effect.

Hi everyone, just a quickie so forgive me if this has already been flagged, but Care Pharmacy are no longer prescribing Mj if you have PCOS or an underactive thyroid, which will be a lot of people (or it is on our slow losers thread, anyway).

I asked if this was just Care Parmacy or a change to national guidelines. I’ve had no response but in the meantime successfully got my first 10mg pen from another pharmacy. So it looks like it’s just Care. I didn’t want anyone to wait to order their usual pen from them (they deliver promptly so people might be only days away from needing a new pen when they order) then find they’re suddenly without a supplier.

Thats it, have to dash onto the slow thread to tell them…hope everyone’s well!

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 08/10/2024 16:12

@Jimmyneutronsforehead what a rollercoaster you guys are on at the moment! I really hope the day has improved for you 🤞

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 08/10/2024 16:18

Advice needed please! I am on day 6 of my 12th week on 5mg.

Up until now things have been fab - enough suppression to eat small healthy meals, not too much to stop me eating, no food noise, no wine noise etc and best of all, NO side effects since the first couple of weeks.

However, yesterday and today I am hungry. Not starving but peckish. The big issue though, is in my brain - I want 'tastes', I could eat chocolate, crisps etc for the first time in 4 months.

I need to go up don't I?!? I have 4 more doses in this 5mg pen. Do I do another week on 5 and live with a couple of days of (what is quite frankly) mental torture and then use the bonus dose to boost to 7.5? Or do I just go for it tomorrow?

Part of me says to leave it and it will be ok, the 5 will kick back in but I reckon I’m being naive 🤦‍♀️ Still losing weight though! 🤷‍♀️

Help?!?

LucyBnotG · 08/10/2024 17:54

@IReallyNeedThisToWork I've had a couple of random days like this during my journey so far. Suddenly hungry throughout the morning and not satiated by a taste of something that might normally be just enough. I worried that the medication wasn't working at that dose and that my MJ bubble had burst.

The first time I experienced it, I had small, low calorie snacks/treats throughout the day and was chasing the cravings while staying in calories. I was still very hungry though.

The second time it happened, I thought stuff it, if I want to eat then I'm making a meal. I made a full, balanced (evening sized) meal at 1 in the afternoon and reserved the chocolate bar for afters. Filling myself up at lunch time helped me ride it out and I didn't get to the chocolate until the evening when I had a small fruit/yoghurt/cereal bowl instead of the evening meal.

I have stayed on the same dose since. I think we sometimes just have really hungry days. I hope this helps!

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 08/10/2024 17:56

@LucyBnotG it really does, thank you! I usually jab on Wednesday evenings so will see how tomorrow goes before deciding. I have had a really good run on 5mg so assume the bubble will burst some point 😁

NewLifter · 08/10/2024 19:26

Gosh Jimmy, you are having a time of it! I keep a wee home made 'ready meal' in the freezer for emergencies like that, but then there's absolutely no way I could risk eating anything like a kebab as I would likely be very unwell!

BVtrix · 09/10/2024 07:12

Hi everyone,

Silent watcher usually, hope you are all okay.

I sailed through 5 weeks on 2.5 with a loss of 15lbs and no side effects.
I took my first dose of 5 on Monday and have had the most horrific diarrhea since. I'm struggling to eat at all and the sulphur burps are awful. Please tell me this won't last? I truly don't think I could continue if these side effects continue as they I cannot leave the house at the minute.

I'd be devastated to stop as it is really working for me.

Any suggestions more than welcome 🙏

Some people count clicks to do a dose between 2.5 and 5 - perhaps someone will be along to say how they manage that. It may get easier as your body gets used to it too.

I didn't move up to 5 after my first month of 2.5 because I already had good suppression and loss and didn't see the need - you may not need the higher dose, you can stay on a lower one for your next pen if 5 or an in between dose is too much.

FarriersGirl · 09/10/2024 07:35

@BVtrix I had a similar experience on 5mg and took Imodium which calmed things down very quickly. For me rich/fatty foods seem to upset my digestion on MJ and cause the dreaded burps. Small regular meals and quite plain food help and I have been fine since including a move up to 7.5. Hope you feel better soon.

VioletsHeart · 09/10/2024 07:59

@BVtrix thought sounds rough, I’m sorry!
I was concerned about the step from 2.5 to 5 having been pretty nauseous for first couple of weeks on 2.5 decided to try 3.75 for a bit. Turn out it was great dose for me and stayed on it for a couple of months. I’m now on 5 w no issues.
Also check what you’ve been eating and can see if you can see a cause. Fatty meat (lamb for eg) will cause a mild clear out next day guaranteed for me, but as you’re on day 3 of it and came straight after your jab it is likely because of the doubling of the dose.
It will pass. Stay hydrated. Eat what plain things you can. And if you start to feel worse or you’re v dehydrated (v little wee in a day) seek medical advice please.

Thanks for your reply. This is interesting actually. How do you measure a dose of 3.75? I think I will try that next week as I feel maybe I just wasn't ready to double the dose.

ItsAlrightDarling · 09/10/2024 10:26

Update from me… I am now 4lbs from goal! The last few pounds feel like they’re taking forever 😂. I’m still on 7.5mg but I’ve had quite bad gastric symptoms this week and have vomited twice so to be honest I’m looking forward to titrating down (with a view to stopping) now.

Hi @BVtrix Like you I sailed through 2.5mg, did my bonus of 3.25mg and had a bit of mild nausea, then I went to 5mg, I stuck with it for 2 weeks, but the nausea really bugged me, so for the last 2 weeks I have clicked to 3.75mg which is 45 clicks, I had very slight nausea the day after my first dose but nothing since!
I jab on Mondays and if suppression fades or food noise comes back I will add 1.25mg on the Friday then eventually do a full 5mg.
I take cyclizine or kwells for nausea or anything mint or ginger.
Hope you find what works for you😊

You're so close! Extremely happy for you.

I get a bit emotional when people are close to maintenance or close to stopping because it's one more success story to say see, we can do it. It does work. Against all odds here you are and we're all so proud.

I will cross my fingers toes knees nipples and anything else that will cross that your last 4lb stops being as stubborn as a May born Taurus and you can celebrate 🥳

Who's the cheapest for 10mg? I might try to do the price match with MedExpress as I've been with them. If suppliers are suddenly rejecting under active thyroid then I'd rather order another pen to keep me going. Don't want to suddenly cold turkey & be starving. Motivation\willpower are not my strength

I'm a bit worried about this too as I have an underactive thyroid. This site is good for prices

Thank you. I think it's harder in a way to be prescribed something then have it taken away than to have just been refused in the first place. I weighed in today & have lost 1st 12lbs since starting so I don't want that progress to slip away if I suddenly have to stop MJ.

Same. I'm 37lbs down since I started. I'm tempted to order a pen just in case but I have 4 in the fridge from early ordering 😂I have the same again to lose though so it wouldn't go to waste.
