I'm down 1lb this week. I'm 11st 10lbs today. Officially below 25 BMI at 24.9. I'm going to try not to think about losing anymore. I think now is the time for me to try and not weight myself more than once a week. I've definitely got to the point where the weight isn't going down as fast as it was before, so there is really no need for me to weigh daily anymore.

I think I'll focus on diet and eating well and not so much thinking about losing weight. Still want to lose, but don't want to obsess about it anymore! Will try and move my obsession to diet and exercise!

Yay 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

@ObsidianTree
Hey, well done on getting below 25! It's a fab achievement. I
I really struggle with the whole exercise thing - doing it is so much more effort than simply reducing what I eat and I keep moving back on my target (I'll do it when I get to 12st... I'll do it when I get to 11st...!). I did competitive sports into my 30's - now I kid myself doing the hoovering is a workout 💪

Yes I'm also struggling with the exercising bit! Still haven't signed up to a gym but always going on about joining soon etc! I am starting to feel like I want to go now so that is new! I've always hated cardio but figured, as I'm more about toning etc, then the gym won't be so boring as I won't feel the need to do loads of running, CrossFit etc. So if my focus is on the weights swimming etc then I might enjoy it more! I think I am getting close to wanting to sign up!

@ObsidianTree i keep telling myself I’m going to start exercising again, but I haven’t! …yet!

I think as I've been losing weight without having to go to the gym, I just haven't seen the point. I guess the toning part is important, but deep down have always thought I can do that once I've lost a majority of the weight. Also, historically, going to the gym has never resulted in weight loss.

@ObsidianTree Im with you, I’ve lost all the weight with no exercise. Now it’s about health, strength and toning.

BlackFriYay · 12/10/2024 20:58

I'm another who swears blind I'll go to the gym, then I don't. It's a shame as I used to really enjoy it but there doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day once I've finished work and juggled my 3 kids.

I'm annoying myself because I'm paying £30pm for that membership and I'm reluctant to cancel it as I keep telling myself and everybody else that "I'll definitely go next week"🤦🏼‍♀️

The motivation just isn't there because like you said, Obsidian, the gym hasn't been a factor in losing the weight.

KrankyKumquat · 12/10/2024 21:18

I did make the first steps by looking into local classes. Don't want a class full of 20 something, beautiful gym bunnies, and classes for 'older' women were designed to 'prevent falls' so I gave up at that point🤣

FlappyFish · 13/10/2024 08:30

Good to see you @MelissaLouRocks and I’m sorry you’ve had a hard time of it.

This is the thing with exercise. It doesn’t make you lose weight! I remember the days when I was younger and doing lots of cardio to help. Now the advice has changed and it’s not about it at all.

Exercise is for health. Diet is for weight.

It also makes you hungry. What fun.

FlappyFish · 13/10/2024 09:27

And I bet the 24.9 felt so good, @ObsidianTree. I know BMI is a blunt tool. But I can certainly not pretend I’m muscly and that skews it.

On Primark sizing. I know the hoodies you mean. I know the young folks (ha ha, I still like to think I am), wear things baggy. I try everything on now.

But I didn’t lose this weight to cover up. I did that for decades.

It’s a shame I don’t have the boobs I did but I will update on that Thursday. Running a very critical eyes over my body I would need a 360 lift and boobs. (360 is basically hoiking everything up at your waist life a pair of tights) .
The self criticism doesn’t end. Now I look fine in clothes. I’m healthy. I’m exercising. I’m maintaining. And I’m now sat with a list of surgery that would be over 15k.

Why can’t I be happy? Oh yes. Because I never am. It’s not the body that is the problem. It’s the head.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 13/10/2024 09:31

Well done @ObsidianTree that's amazing!

Not much to report loss wise this week. I've been working away and eating too much. Yesterday I was my lowest weight so it is still very slowly going down, but I'm still 4lb off bmi 25.
I'm constantly hungry though. Truly dreading going cold turkey as the hunger might be unmanageable.

ThirdStorm · 13/10/2024 09:37

I’ve managed to not lose any weight for 3 weeks. This is good. I think in my heart of hearts I wouldn’t mind loosing a few more lbs but I’m the right size now at 23.5 BMI.

AgathaMystery · 13/10/2024 09:50

Morning all. New lowest weight on the scales this morning. I’m now 78kg (11st 4lb) & BMI 29.1 - it feels insane. I’m on 7.5mg and plateauing and loosing sooooo slowly.

I have been exercising and feel great for it. I’m doing 1 class a week (would do more but time & money) & my own thing on top. I am definitely fitter. I can run!!!

I had 4 large glasses of wine last night. More than I’ve drunk all year. Not feeling my best right now!!

re: 360 body lift, I have a patient currently who has had this surgery. Her scarring is excellent, as in, minimal, although, yes, it is all around her body. She has also had a breast lift and liposculpture. She went to Turkey which I am too terrified to even consider.

Choux · 13/10/2024 09:55

Congrats on the healthy BMI @ObsidianTree. Am currently weighing myself after every wee (and more!) to see if I can get my scales to show the same milestone today.

skip over this paragraph if eating breakfast
pre MJ I pooped every day. I have always been regular. Depending on what you have eaten you can sometimes tell how long food was taking to get through you. Sweetcorn, curry etc you just know when it makes a reappearance. On Thursday I had a spicy soup, it was so spicy I couldn't finish it. Today I can tell that MJ has slowed my digestion down by two days as the soup is only now making itself... ahem...felt. Sorry if TMI.

The slow digestion is what makes me try to eat good food as my body is going to extract all the vitamins and minerals from it. If I eat rubbish, the slow digestion will allow my body to suck all the E numbers, preservatives and other junk from it.

Choux · 13/10/2024 10:09

The talk about losing this weight without exercise reminds me of a few words of wisdom from years ago:

You can't out train a bad diet.

If you are eating far too many calories, it's impossible for a person with job, family responsibilities etc to exercise enough to burn all the excess calories consumed. You have to get the diet right which is where Mounjaro is such a support. Also all those January diets were people cut their calories AND try to up the exercise are so hard to maintain as they give the body a double whammy - no wonder it starts craving the sofa and tea and biscuits.

I really like what someone said that diet is for weight, exercise is for health. I'm mid 50s now - my marathon running days are over (for the record I did run two marathons in my early 30s) and I want to treat my body gently rather than take it from the sofa to full burn. Slow increments in exercise that are sustainable long term are for me. I have some weights and a few books with exercise routines in that use body weight. To start with you can use tins of beans or bottles of water as small weights. We just need to start somewhere and try something. Then take it from there.

KrankyKumquat · 13/10/2024 10:42

@Choux
Just last week, my OH picked up something from B&M (or Home Bargains, cant remember which). Black plastic canister sort of things, with handles, that you fill with water or sand, to your chosen weight, and use as dumbells. Tells me they were only about £4 each, much cheaper than sport's shop alternatives.
I really should do something with them or at least take them out of the bag 😅

AgathaMystery · 13/10/2024 10:51

Yes I LOVE the term ‘you can’t out train a bad diet’

NextPrimeMinister · 13/10/2024 11:45

Hey @Thebaldprimadonna did you decide what you were going to do?

Hey @Thebaldprimadonna did you decide what you were going to do?

MedEx took so long to get back to me that I decided just to order another 15mg. I am now getting side effects but no positives 🤣 I will, however, keep swimming and am in discussions with them. I think that I may go for the reset option if nothing changes soon.

NextPrimeMinister · 13/10/2024 20:21

I hope it starts working for you @Thebaldprimadonna.

Moanranger · 14/10/2024 06:19

It does go slow now! I am now 10lbs from my goal weight, undershooting calories most days, active & this week I lost 200g. Nutracheck shows me reaching goal by Christmas. I am now on 7.5 which is wiping me out, but suppression is good. My goal weight is 10st 5lb, but I will still have a BMI of 25, barely 5’4” doesn’t help, I envy you tall folk whose BMI is so much lower!

Buffypaws · 14/10/2024 06:53

Yeah it’s hard being short. You get so much less food.

i am having much more suppression from my last 15 pen than I did the one before. Sadly I think I need to taper off now. I’d like to lose another half a stone but bmi is 22.5 so I can’t justify more drugs really. Need to go it alone. god help me.

on the other hand if I can do half a stone I’ll have lost 50 pounds so that’s a tempting goal. But too much?

Choux · 14/10/2024 07:55

Am now 9lbs from my goal weight and just worked out that in the last month I have lost 4lbs. It is coming off but really slowly. Am on 15mg.

But today I hit a BMI of 24.9 so am no longer overweight! That closes a decade long chapter in my life of being overweight or obese. Here's to the future!

KrankyKumquat · 14/10/2024 08:19

Well done @Choux !
Hitting the 24's is a great achievement- enjoy that feeling x
